The 45-year-old arrived last night to launch I Look To You, her first studio CD in seven years, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in London’s Knightsbridge.
She wore a black belted mac which she removed once inside to reveal a flattering black and white Dolce & Gabbana dress.
The crowd, including Top Shop billionaire Sir Phillip Green, gave Whitney a standing ovation.
Tracks have already been leaked on the internet, where they have met with a mixed response - the most critical claiming her voice has been ruined.
But music mogul Clive Davis, who discovered the soul diva 25 years ago, disagrees.
‘You won’t forget it after you hear it,’ he said, calling the album a labour of love for all involved.
‘There is a song on this album which is called “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” and it really speaks for Whitney.
‘She tumbled but she didn’t crumble.’

Multiple law enforcement sources tell TMZ the LAPD is already treating Michael Jackson’s death as a homicide, and they are focusing on Dr. Conrad Murray.
Law enforcement sources tell us the evidence points to the anesthesia Propofol as the primary cause of Jackson’s death. As we first reported, vials of Propofol were found in Jackson’s home after he died.

Law enforcement sources say there is already “plenty of powerful evidence” linking Dr. Murray as the person who administered the drug to Jackson. The evidence includes various items found in Jackson’s house, including the Propofol, an IV stand and oxygen tank.

Dr. Murray’s lawyer would neither confirm nor deny if his client administered the Propofol.

And we’ve learned the LAPD has had “multiple conversations” with the L.A. County District Attorney’s office, although the case has not been formally presented to the D.A.

Human incubator Debbie Rowe sneered, “Hell no” she doesn’t want the two kids she bore for Michael Jackson — then coldly added, “Does it look good for me to ask for them? Absolutely,” according to explosive e-mails that surfaced yesterday.
“I’m not going after custody. These kids are not mine. They never were mine. They were always Michael’s. I was Michael’s best friend,” the two-time surrogate mom said in a July 2 e-mail to her friend Rebecca White, who spoke to the Web site ExtraTV.com.

Three days later, Rowe whined, “My lawyer is telling me I have to take some responsibility about the welfare of the children. Do I want the kids? Hell no. Does it look good for me to ask for them? Absolutely.
“I don’t want to look like the woman who gave away her kids and just forgot about them. Would Michael want [his dad] Joe to have them? I think it would be the last thing that he would ever have wanted.”
White, described as a confidante of Rowe’s, said she believes that her friend has at times publicly insisted she wants custody of Prince Michael, 12, and Paris, 11, for one main reason.
“The motivation is money,” White said. “I really have to be honest . . . If the children aren’t the ones she wants, what else will she gain from it?”
Still, White said, “It’s not like she doesn’t love them. It’s not like she doesn’t want the best for them.
“But her life is different. The idea of being a mother to those children is something I don’t think she really wants. She can’t just sit back in the shadows and not say anything because then she will be looked at as the woman who gave up her children, and that’s a horrible thing to say . . . She had to do something to protect them in a way.”
White said Rowe had worked out a “secret deal” with Jackson’s family.
“In one text message, she had just said, ‘Just wait until the 14th. Everything will be done after the 14th,’ ” White said. “There’s definitely going to be a secret deal. There’s definitely going to be a settlement that’s going to come out of this.”
Rowe’s lawyer disputed White’s claims.
The Post reported yesterday, July 14, that there was a custody pact between Rowe and Katherine Jackson.
A close family friend said Rowe was getting about $4 million in exchange for giving up her parental rights.
Neither Rowe’s lawyer nor Katherine’s returned calls for that story.
Rowe’s lawyer, Eric George, yesterday issued a statement denying that “an agreement had been reached” or that his client was giving up her parental rights. He added, “Ms. Rowe has not accepted — and will not accept — any additional financial consideration beyond the spousal support she and Michael Jackson personally agreed to several years ago.”
Rowe had initially agreed to allow Jacko to raise the kids in exchange for $12.5 million, sources said. She then threatened to try to regain custody when he was charged with child molestation, but backed off after she cut another money deal.
George yesterday refused to take calls from The Post on that issue, on White’s interview or the e-mails.
He sent an e-mail to The Post saying his camp would not be commenting on anything to The Post unless it retracted its settlement story. But in a mass e-mail to media, George said he had fired off a letter to White “disputing the truth of her statements and demanding” a retraction.
Katherine Jackson’s lawyer did not return a call.
Meanwhile, an incensed Jackson family member insisted yesterday that Rowe is getting paid as part of a quid pro quo to avoid a custody battle.
“Don’t believe what Debbie says. She is getting Mother’s money — that’s what she wanted all along,” the relative said. “The lawyers are probably trying to work around leaks, but Mother is happy with the deal,” the source said.
As for Rowe, “She got what she wanted, like everyone else gets what they want when it comes to [Michael],” the family member said.
