I watched the ABC show "Live to 150 ,,, Can You Do It" and I enjoyed it. However I was a little disappointed that they did not talk about anyone who had already lived past 150 years. I have researched people who had lived 150 years or more, such as Li Ching Yun, who died in 1933 at the age of 256 years. As I was researching these supercentenarians, I came across a few of these people that are still alive today that have surpassed 150 years. Of these incredible people, my focus is now on a living, breathing immortal whom I fully believe is nearly 2,800 years old.

My intentions was to find out how these amazing people survive for so many years. I fully believed that if we could model the lifestyle of these supercentenarians, we too could live a much longer and healthier life style. I have summarized what I have found on my main blog: Ben-Abba.com which I intent to publish starting with my first book: “Secrets of an Immortal - An Eyewitness Account of 2,800 Years of History”.

Rather than going on to capillaries, it would be interesting to see a comparison of normal to cancerous tissue. Would certain types or number of pressure gradients be characteristic of a disease state?

> or (B) that would be so bad

indeed.

Frankly, I just don't think most people would know what I was talking about if I said I was a transhumanist. As labels go, it's not a bad one except that people don't generally know what it means.

Man I get angry when people push crap like modinafil and Orexin A. Sleep deprivation kills faster than starvation. Even "mild" sleep deprivation will screw your health. (http://www.macses.ucsf.edu/Research/Allostatic/notebook/sleep.html) People don't seem to realize this and the people selling the shit won't tell you.

And ethanol is also good for saving your brain. There are plenty of studies in older humans saying that moderate usage (1-2 drinks/day) is neuroprotective.

Also the demographics of autism hardly make for an agenda. It just means that autism research is WELL funded.

I'm an MtF transsexual woman. I'm also a transhumanist with an unwavering confidence in the higher nature of man, and that we will someday realise it. I mind neither label, even though they do tend to cause trouble for me, especially the first, but I can only be true to my identity and my world-view. There is this huge furore amongst the far right, various conservative and religious groups, and just plain ignorant people, about transsexuality and intersex, but really, there are things on the horizon that make us look positively boring. Society NEEDS to catch up and once and for all get it through its collectively thick skull that people have a fundamental right to self-determination without fear of ridicule or discrimination. We are on the verge of same-sex conception, children born of three or more parents, the ability to clone ourselves, and the only thing that really stands in its way is legislation. Meanwhile, even the laws are crumbling - here in the UK legeslation is being passed that will allow scientists to create human-animal hybrid cells for use in disease research. Just this week they were reporting the first human-bovine chimeras.

Somewhere along the line people WILL start to use this technology illegally or otherwise, and then society will REALLY be in for a real bender.

We need to move beyond biology and ideology. For better or worse, this stuff is going to happen. Either we prepare for it and catch a ride, or it leaves us behind. I for one though, am intensely excited about it all, even though I know the risks we short-sighted humans face, what with our shortsighted, narrow vision.

Oh, and Stellewriter, you just officially got added to my wall of Really Cool People.

Tans-human is being "Not Quite!" As is being Intersex or Transsexual in the eyes of many. Yet, the essence of what makes a person, identity, and the image of who we are is beyond the package it may come in. Many, many, who would claim to be complete are actually missing the key components to what is human. To love and be loved, caring and cared for, feeling and felt, accepting and accepted are all things on the other side of what being "trans" is all about.

Every ten minutes a child is born, 1/2500, in which the doctor cannot determine the sex, or gender. This is not talking about homosexuality, but tragically a congenital condition of birth which can be caused by endocrine agents and chemicals. These children are Intersex; they are born into a life of not male or female. Likewise in similar fashion the Transsexual is identified with a Bioneurological congenital condition, and they too are locked into something not quite so clearly defined as male, or female. The best we can do is live as close to what we seem to believe we are. That may preclude the wants, and often ignorant and bigoted beliefs of others. In what case do we ignore this issue and abandon the children who now cannot hide? How can anyone continue in hate and prejudice so as to deny simple equality and justice? Not an easy thing to resolve, but one that is present and will not go away. I can appreciate social opinion, and the freedom to express same, but I would hope our culture and ethos would be with regard to the children, teens, and emerging adults, and all who are not so fortunate to have been born by someone’s idea of “normal.”
