<p>I know there are many people who already know how to fit physical activity into each day. They love being active, whether it be in sports, going to the gym on a regular basis, or just taking a regular morning walk. Unfortunately, most people who are overweight do not fall into that category. If they did, they would probably not need to lose weight&#8230;they already worked it off!</p>
<p>But knowing how to fit physical activity into each day easily, without feeling stressed out before you even start, will help in your weight loss efforts, and you will feel better about yourself too.</p>
<p>The great news is that you don&#39;t need to do&nbsp;nothing because you can&#39;t stand the thought of a strenuous exercise program. You&nbsp;only need about 2 1/2&nbsp; hours of moderate activity PER WEEK! Now that doesn&#39;t sound so difficult, does it? Just 10 minute spurts throughout your day&nbsp;of activity strenuous enough to get your heart rate going faster will do the trick.</p>
<p>You know about all these ideas already, but here is just a little reminder. Try a few of these quick and easy physical activities each day, which you can fit into your schedule either at home or at work,&nbsp;and you&#39;ll start to see an improvement in your weight loss and in your general well-being.&nbsp;</p>
<ul>
<li>Do&nbsp;your housework with some zippy music playing so you move at a faster pace</li>
<li>Pull weeds, mow the lawn, or clean the pool</li>
<li>Take a brisk walk or a run in the park with your dog</li>
<li>Look for the parking space that is farthest from the door of the supermarket and actually walk all the way to the door and back</li>
<li>Use the stairs instead of the elevator whenever possible</li>
<li>Take a walk on your break at work instead of eating a snack</li>
<li>Invite co-workers to&nbsp;join in&nbsp;a group&nbsp;lunchtime walk, even if it&#39;s just up and down the stairs of your building</li>
<li>Play with your kids &#8211; something that involves running and jumping outside</li>
<li>Take a bicycle ride</li>
</ul>
<p>There are many more ideas&#8230;the main thing is just to get your body moving. Have fun!</p>

<p>The title here, that our technology is a <strong>weight loss challenge</strong>, probably does not take any of you by surprise. If you are <strong>overweight </strong>or <strong>obese</strong>, you have faced difficulties yourself in your attempts to lose weight because you have less than a healthy lifestyle.</p>
<p>I&#39;m sure everyone of you has at least one grandparent, or maybe an older relative&#8230;or maybe it&#39;s you&#8230;who loves to go on about how you have it so easy &#8211; not like when they were a kid. You know the story&#8230;they had to walk 10 miles through hip-deep snow to get to school every day, uphill both ways. And they had to carry 75 pounds of books.<span id="more-1133"></span></p>
<p>Worse&nbsp; yet, after they trudged home each evening they had to chop wood, or scrub clothes on a washboard, or milk the cows and feed the pigs, or&#8230;these tales of woe go on. You roll your eyes and scoff, certain that no such things ever happened.</p>
<p>Well, though these tales are no doubt highly exaggerated, actually the older folks among us did have it much tougher in a physical exertion sense. They didn&#39;t have 3 or 4 cars for every household, they didn&#39;t have microwaves and dishwashers and packaged foods, they didn&#39;t have a drive-through fast food joint on every corner, and they actually played outside &#8211; running and jumping and skipping (gasp!) &#8211; rather than sitting in front of a computer or TV for hours on end.</p>
<p>Now most of our modern technologies are wonderful and make our lives richer in many ways. Some of them, however, such as the unhealthy packaged foods and fast-food joints, and the convenient technologies that help us avoid exercise, are not wonderful. In fact, they are the cause of so many of us being overweight or obese, beginning now at a very young age.</p>
<p>I think we can all admit that going back to a few of these old-time practices would be a good thing. So I put out this challenge. If you have decided you need to get serious and finally&nbsp;<strong>lose</strong> <strong>weight</strong> and&nbsp;start eating a healthier <strong>diet</strong>, but it is overwhelming and you don&#39;t know where to start&#8230;why not just start small?</p>
<p>Start out by cooking simple meals with&nbsp;fresh ingredients instead of grabbing some fast-food on the way home. Along with that, try fitting some <strong>physical activity </strong>into your day &#8211; every day. Come one, now&#8230;don&#39;t shriek in horror. All I mean by that is&#8230;go play outside. Yes, you too, adults. Just eat something fresh and go play outside as your first tiny steps toward a more <strong>healthy</strong> <strong>lifestyle</strong>. I think you&#39;ll like it.<br />

By choosing to live a healthy life, you are one step closer to your dreams. Each day you have multiple opportunities to have those sleek and toned abs by simply taking those actions needed that lead to your goal. Stop thinking about walking and go out and do it, even if it&rsquo;s just around the block.&nbsp; Adding a few small, healthy habits to your life can really make a difference.<span id="more-1123"></span></p>

	Making exercise and diet easy is possible, but it has to start with a healthy body and good healthy choices.</p>
<p>	Once you are on the right track, really think about what comes more naturally to you, adding more exercise or adjusting your diet. &nbsp; If making adjustments to your diet is feasible, remember to start simple. This is a great start, just remember for everything you take out of your diet to replace that food with either a healthier food or activity.</p>
<p>	For those of you who want to start with exercise, please start slowly. When planning your workouts, several factors need to be considered. Choose workouts that you enjoy. By selecting a program that you know has been successful in the past, it will be easy to duplicate your previous success, and success breed&rsquo;s success. </p>

So, how about it, why not start by grabbing your favorite exercise video and putting it in the DVD player? Because when you think about it, doesn&rsquo;t it feel incredible when you have the energy to do what you want to do? Do this for no other reason than you are worth it, and since many of the changes you will experience are how you feel about yourself, you are going to be the one who experiences the most important changes.</p>
<p>No one can make the changes you need except for you. Become the woman you have always wanted to be by starting today and moving forward toward your dreams. Become the woman in your dreams by taking one small positive action each day.<br />

<p>For many of us, getting a flat stomach can be so difficult that we just give up. That&#39;s because we&#39;re doing the wrong exercises and eating the wrong things to try and get a flat stomach.</p>
<p>So if we&#39;ve been going about it all wrong, what&#39;s the right way to get a flat stomach?</p>
<p>Believe it or not crunches or sit-ups are not the best way to get a flat stomach. Cardio is the key to a flat stomach. Cardio exercises burn way more calories then simple stomach exercises such as crunches or leg lifts. Cardio exercises will burn fat from your entire body instead of just one area of your body. Because of this fat loss, your stomach and its muscles will start to show.<span id="more-1120"></span></p>
<p>You can only succeed by taking the first step! Even if you can&#39;t do the flat stomach exercises right away, you should change up your diet and lose the fat first. Once you have done cardio for a while, you need to do crunch exercises in order to get a flat stomach.</p>
<p>That said, let&#39;s look at which crunch exercises work the best.</p>
<p>A basic crunch is best for the upper abs. You perform a basic crunch by lying flat on your back, preferably on an exercise mat. Keep your hands to the side of your head and your knees bent in a 90 degree angle. Lift your shoulders off the ground, as if you&#39;re trying to touch your knees to your chest. Remember not to move your legs at all! The point here is to lift yourself using your stomach muscles. You will be doing this 15-30 times in sets of 3-4. Also remember to take a few minutes rest between each set.</p>
<p>For your lower abs, the best exercise you can do is the reverse crunch. To preform a reverse crunch you lie on your back with your hands placed directly to the back of your head, bend your knees and hold your feet about 5 inches off the ground. You need to slowly bring your knees toward your chest and pick your butt slightly off the ground. Concentrate hard on tightening your stomach muscles. Make sure you do at 3-4 sets of this exercise. With 15-30 reps per set, resting 2-3 minutes between each rep.</p>
<p>While there are a wide variety of exercises out that claim to flatten your stomach, these two are the best. The main problem people face when trying to get a flat stomach is in proper dieting and executing the exercises for their abs incorrectly. Seriously consider the pointers in this article and preform these workouts exactly as described. Don&#39;t cheat yourself out of a chance to achieve a flat stomach. Don&#39;t think that you can skimp on your exercises one day and make up for it the next. You need to consistently perform the exercises outlined in this article for you to be truly successful in getting a flatter stomach. I wish you the best of luck!</p>

<p>This just goes back to the old saying &ldquo;Men Are From Mars Women Are From Venus&rdquo; and if we are from these two different planets should men and women be working out differently? </p>
<p>	If you walked into a gym what do you see? Chances are you will see most of the women up on the treadmills walking or running like a hamster on a wheel and most of the guys acting like they are big and tough by grunting through split workout routines&#8230; I am sure you&rsquo;ve heard them, &ldquo;Today&rsquo;s a chest and back day, Man!&rdquo; <span id="more-1052"></span></p>
<p>	Of the two, who is better off? When it comes to <a href="http://www.liftingrevolution.com">fitness training</a> for women , neither group is right . Our bodies are extremely different and what we each think is &quot;fun&quot; is just as different&#8230; and to have a workout you stick to you have to like it so that means our workouts have to be different. </p>
<p>	If you thought the treadmill was going to help you, unfortunately you&#39;re wrong &#8230; in fact, <a href="http://www.theartofweightlifting.com/products/department8.cfm">treadmill workouts</a> are boring and they leave lots of room for eventual plateaus . You will burn calories, some fat but you also burn your muscle, and you won&#39;t tone your entire body and hit your goals . Your body gets used to workouts quickly and since you can only run so fast you have to keep adding distance upon distance until you&rsquo;re spending way too much time running no where. </p>
<p>	So the answer? Cardio meets strength training. <a href="http://www.liftingrevolution.com">Women&rsquo;s fitness</a> should definitely include strength training, just no grunting or split routines. Total body will help you burn more calories, burn more fat and get better results faster. </p>
<p>	There are two great options, a standard weight training workouts but where the weight is light enough where you can do 12-15 reps (but no more) or do circuit workouts! Circuits rock, most often they are 6-8 exercises, performed back to back with little or no rest. </p>
<p>	Once you finish the entire circuit enjoy a short break before doing the circuit 1 or more extra times! </p>
<p>	Circuits are never boring because it progresses so quickly you can get your workout done in no time at all and feel as if you just worked out forever. </p>
<p>	So do you need a new workout? Chances are yes&#8230; but don&rsquo;t ask the big muscle guy at the gym for help .</p>

<p>What??&nbsp; How can that possibly be, you say? &nbsp;Ok&#8230;so that isn&#39;t the literal truth, but my dear little dog did get me to thinking.&nbsp; She may not have caused me to <strong>gain</strong> weight, but if I don&#39;t stop acting like a dog I will find it very difficult to <strong>lose</strong> weight.&nbsp; So let me explain and you will see the connection.<span id="more-622"></span></p>
<p>First -&nbsp;about my dog.&nbsp; She is a 5-year-old Schnauzer-Pomeranian mix, but not a tiny dog as you might imagine; rather, she is medium-sized at 48 pounds. &nbsp; She has a solid little tank body, as Schnauzers do,&nbsp;and&nbsp;it proves that people select dogs that resemble themselves.&nbsp; I&nbsp;am&nbsp;of&nbsp;German/English&nbsp;descent, and even at my ideal weight&nbsp;I am not delicate and reed-like; rather,&nbsp; I&nbsp;have a wide-shouldered, slim-hipped, solid build.&nbsp; So neither Bisquit nor I are slender, delicate flowers&#8230;and we like to eat! <center><br />

<p></center> My observations about my dog&nbsp;showed me&nbsp;<strong>8&nbsp;deadly habits</strong> that cause weight gain and prevent weight loss.&nbsp; They are:</p>
<ol>
<li>She lives primarily to eat</li>
<li>She wolfs down her food (no pun intended)&nbsp;within seconds, without savoring it or enjoying the flavors and textures</li>
<li>She insists on a treat each time she comes in from outside</li>
<li>She asks to go out multiple times per day just so she can get multiple treats per day</li>
<li>She begs for food at every opportunity</li>
<li>She steals food if it is left within her reach</li>
<li>She eats fallen fruit in the yard, old fast-food wrappers that blow in, even grass and weeds</li>
<li>&nbsp;She sleeps most of the day, only waking up for breakfast and dinner or when she hears the refrigerator or cabinet door open</li>
</ol>
<p style="text-align: left">Observations of her good diet habits:</p>
<ol>
<li>
<div style="text-align: left">She <strong>drinks a lot of water</strong></div>
</li>
<li>
<div style="text-align: left">She <strong>eats healthy food</strong> and treats (because I control what those are)</div>
</li>
</ol>
<p style="text-align: left">I then made some observations about my own eating habits.&nbsp; I won&#39;t repeat them here.&nbsp; Let&#39;s just say that they are nearly identical to my dog&#39;s eating habits&#8230;transposed into more human-like behavior.&nbsp; For example, I have not yet stooped to foraging in the back&nbsp; yard for my snacks.&nbsp; And I don&#39;t have a caring person controlling what and when I eat as she does.&nbsp; My husband has offered, but I reminded him that it was entirely too dangerous.</p>
<p style="text-align: left">The moral of this little story is simple.&nbsp; While fancy, and expensive, and often complicated,&nbsp;diet plans and programs&nbsp;can help you lose weight and provide tips, tools and motivation, they are voluntary rather than&nbsp;mandatory&nbsp;.&nbsp; All it really takes is a little<strong> self-examination</strong> &#8211; or&nbsp;observation of the&nbsp;eating habits of others&nbsp;- and it will become clear that all you have to do is use some<strong> common sense</strong> and some <strong>self-control</strong>.&nbsp; And isn&#39;t THAT disgusting!</p>
