Technology and Business Skills: Essential

Exceptional technology skills; recognised by your peers as an expert in your domain
Extensive Java experience, OO design and patterns
Extensive experience of relational data modelling, including DML and DDL
A proponent of agile development methods; continuous integration, unit testing, refactoring and related approaches
Experience of distributed, concurrent processing server-side development
Proficient working on all major platforms - Linux, Windows and UNIX; working knowledge of various scripting languages
Experience of a range of open source frameworks: Spring (or other DI), Eclipse, Maven
Experience of event driven, asynchronous architectures and messaging/market data processing

Advantageous

Knowledge of statistical methods and probability and their application to trading systems
Oracle and / or OneMarketData OneTick time series database
Additional programming languages - C++, R and Python
ZK or Django RIA frameworks
Experience in the front office technology group of a trading organisation (hedge fund, investment bank)

Personal Attributes and Management Skills

Significant post graduate experience in software development, preferably in finance
Strong academic record and a degree in a subject with good mathematical content and computing exposure or Computer Science, Maths, Engineering or Physics from a leading university
Intellectually robust with a keenly analytic approach
Able to establish and maintain a close working relationship with research academics, traders and senior business people alike
Confident communicator; able to argue a point concisely and deal positively with conflicting views
Focused on delivering value to the business; relentless efforts to improve how that is done

Research and develop ways to improve current core strategies and create new quantitative trading algorithms to complement and diversify the firm's main strategies. Maximize performance and competitiveness by utilizing quantitative methods and advanced technological tools.
          • Develop methods to make existing systems more efficient, profitable and robust.
          • Research and develop new trading strategies, ideally offering significant diversification to production strategies in terms of style, markets traded, time frame and frequency, to increase potential gains, reduce risk, and increase the firm's capacity. Follow robust procedures of development, reducing the difference between simulated vs. actual performance.
          • Design advanced computer programs outside the traditional framework to facilitate robust implementation of research as well as production versions of trading systems.
