On Halloween, I stopped by JapanLA to take some photos (have you seen them yet? Just posted this and this) and to hang out with some of the kawaii plushies…

I was pretty happy when Misha (one of the über talented Three Apples artists) walked in with her husband! I was even happier when she let me take a photo of her modeling her Hello Kitty lotion. n_n

I headed on over to Royal T… I helped decorate Kitty’s house for Halloween the previous night… Pretty spooky, right? I worked on a little part of the spider webs and added some creepy crawlers… I wish I came up with the idea of wrapping Kitty-chan up like a mummy tho! That was the *cutest* idea and it was executed very nicely by Supa Dave! Here is Jordan and mummy Kitty…

I was sneaking around the pumpkin patch so I could pose with the kawaii kitties.  I was supposed to be Alice in Wonderland btw… n_n

I did not stay at Royal T too long that night because I already made plans to check out the WeHo parade… And I wanted to make sure I would have enough energy for Kitty’s big day…

I tried to get to Royal T early… That did not happen. o_O I have a small problem with procrastination… And by small I mean pretty big! >_< I know I should plan things better, but somehow decisions are made up until the last possible minute. For example, I had a Bday card I wanted to make for Miss Hello Kitty but I did not buy the materials until the morning of her special day! Maybe I just like to add unnecessary pressure to myself? I stopped by Target on the way and this is how it turned out…

This card included all the “words from our heart” that us Junkies wrote down during the Meet-up!

This kittified car sighting had to be one of the most memorable things that happened on Kitty’s Bday! Jamie asked if I saw the Hello Kitty Prius… My response, “WHAT!? WHERE!?” @_@ I followed her out the back with my camera and you know the rest…

Kawaii overload in the back! These plushies are the perfect company for any ride you must take… *Especially the HUGE one* and yes, I am *jelly* (I later found out that the owner got it through a seller on craigslist)! o_O

The ear muffs are hanging from the rear-view mirror… Just in case it gets cold? After all, the owner is from NorCal. n_~

I was so happy I got to meet the owner of the car — Shella! Of course, we had to pose for a photo in front of her kawaii ride! This was after an hour (I don’t remember how long I talked to her and her boyfriend for)… They were a very sweet couple tho! Her boyfriend took the picture for us — not sure why he didn’t want to be in it! n_~

I was happily surprised to see my non-Hello Kitty loving co-worker buddies stop by! n_n <3 Frida! <3 Ian! They even took a photo with Kitty-chan and me! Was that a sign of Hello Kitty Junkies in the making!? n_~

We played Sanrio Bingo (Hello Kitty Junkie Style)… What is it tho? I tried to create a fun icebreaker so we could all get to know each other better… There was a sheet of 20 questions that matched up to one character on a bingo sheet of 20 character profile pictures. The object is to find one person per question to identify each character! It’s more of a getting-to-know-you exercise so we could interact with more people. It was also to test who knew the Sanrio characters best!

My and Connie got to know each other… Or at least tried to figure out where I pulled all the info from?

While the Junkies played bingo, Jordan acted as the unofficial “official Hello Kitty bodygaurd” because Kitty-chan has a difficult time controlling all of her adoring fans… In fact, Jordan was so good at this job that she had been the chaperone during other special event days! Maybe I see a change in her career, hehe… n_~

The winners of Sanrio Bingo: 1. Dorothy 2. Bellerina 3. Araceli… They all did a wonderful job talking to new people. After Sanrio Bingo, I gave my fellow Junkies a quiz! What Kind of Hello Kitty Junkie Are You Quiz, to be exact! Jordan clearly is a certified Hello Kitty Junkie since she came in 1st! With a three way tie for 2nd! Bellerina had to re-check the answers for the quiz… Connie and HKGuy got the prizes for 2nd place (sorry Dorothy). I did not take photos of the awesome prizes the Junkies won! Nor did I take photos of our swap! Boo! Where was I!?!? o_O

But don’t worry! Bellerina is here to save the day! She took awesome photos of the winners with their prizes… And she also has photos of how our $5/under swap went! All of this is on her awesome blog post, 3 Apples – Day 4 “HKJ Meetup!” @_@

I am pretty sure the time was winding down… We each brought in some of our favorite kawaii Hello Kitty stationery sheets so that we could write Kitty-chan some “words from our heart” in celebration of her 35th! I also know how nice Sanrio is being to me — and I do not take if for granted AT ALL! With that being said, it was difficult for me to let go of one of my Sanrio x McDonald’s Happy Meal toys from Canada that Rosemary sent me… But sharing your favorite toys with people who are nice to you is what Hello Kitty would do, right? I know Rosemary would understand the cause it went to, so the Junkies who came out on Sunday signed the Hello Kitty figure as a small thank you…

I planned to do a little Hello Kitty origami… But seriously, I have no clue where the time went! o_O I think Jennifer may have been the only one to fold a little Hello Kitty head out of origami paper… Hopefully we have more time for crafts during the next meet-up! n_n

I spotted some more Hello Kitty Junkies! What’s up Ash!? What’s up Sarah? What’s up My!?

Bellerina and Jordan immediately had to stand in a second line for the “Kitty Mama” and Simone Legno signings… And they were not pleased! AT ALL! >_<

I was told that some of the fans were standing in lines for a total of five hours! o_O I know! That is madness, right!? But here is the flip side — the peeps from Sanrio, JapanLA, Royal T (and everybody who was helping out during the Super Fan Day) were busting their booties off! Seriously, people were running around making sure things were peaceful! Many fans who were standing in line got cute little Hello Kitty treats *for free* because the peeps over at Sanrio wanted to do something nice. There was even a raffle for a limited edition tokidoki x Hello Kitty item! Oh! And I almost forgot that the first 100 fans in line got a goody bag! I personally know some of the people who have been working 24/7 for the past few months for this massive treat for all Hello Kitty fans to enjoy! So if you see them, just smile and say “Thanks!” or “Awesome event!” I think some words of encouragement would be nice! n_~

I don’t recall much from that day — only that it was SUPER BUSY — I don’t even think all the workers had time to eat a meal! o_O I do remember meeting some awesome Hello Kitty related people! For example, I met Trevor and Dale from Loungefly and they were so cool! I really enjoy chatting it up with people who know about Hello Kitty! It’s also nice when I meet people who read my blog! @_@ I also briefly met Connie — super sweet and kinda shy — AMAZING Hello Kitty collection! @_@ And some of my *fave* Hello Kitty Junkies were present: Anjh and her fam, HKGuy, Monica, etc. etc.

I was fortunate enough to ge my Three Apples poster signed by “Kitty Mama” aka Yuko Yamaguchi (big thanks to Christian)! n_n

I finally had time to grab a bite to eat with the cute maneki neko Kitty figure… The waffles are so kittilicious!

While I was finishing up my quick bite, I spotted a blinged out Hello Kitty iPhone case… Kawaii, neh!? n_~

I was lucky enough to get another autograph and photo with “Kitty Mama” — I even confessed my love for her and Miss Kitty-chan! I also showed her my childhood photo (there was a translator there)… Hmmm… Maybe she thought I was a little crazy? @_@

I wish I had more pix to share… But I must have been busy if that’s all, huh!? Up next is the Meet-Up (Hello Kitty Junkie Trading Party)… \(n_n)/

Hello Kitty Limited Edition Reversible Tote Bag: Deluxe… I did not even notice how kawaii this bag was until I went home and turned it inside out! Both designs rock! And you know what else I love? The material actually feels very sturdy — so no need to worry if I have some heavy things to carry!

Look at all the cuteness that was inside the tote! I cannot even pick out what my top three *fave* things are! @_@

I love sweets and I can never have too many Kitty Pez dispensers! I want to bling this one out like Christian’s (if I have time)…

I adore my Hello Kitty 35th Anniversary bobble head! This is definitely a *must-have* item for me!

Back detail… I think it is incredible that Hello Kitty weighs only three apples! I wonder if those are the apples that she is weighed by!? n_n

One of the most kawaii things ever has to be this über kawaii (yes, I now have to specify different levels of kawaii-ness) 35th Anniversary mini compact mirror in a special velvet-like cloth thingy… *sorry, you know I have a limited vocabulary* o_O

This die-cut mini compact mirror is probably a good size for the Hello Kitty Pullip doll, although I did spy someone rockin’ this as a bracelet! Anybody know what the intended purpose is? Besides being cute. n_~

Yay for Strawberry Newsletter! The November issue is awesome and I am pretty sure I do not have to tell you why! n_~

I was really glad to get my hands on the Three Apples art book! A significant portion of this event deals with Art, which is one of Kitty-chan’s favorite subjects… And this is kinda like my Three Apples yearbook I will get to lug around during the event… You know, to get the artists to sign/draw pictures/doodles… Yuko Yamaguchi (Kitty Mama) signed the cover for me during the Super Fan Day!

If you are able to, I recommend that you:  1.) Get this book;  2.) Read the introduction by Jamie of JapanLA aka the Three Apples curator — she is so awesome! She is working 24/7 non-stop so that this art exhibit will be a success! I wanna be like *Jamie* n_n

My latest schoolgirl crush is on Buff Monster… I can tell you details later… n_~

And Misha is Misha-tastic! I am so happy I got to meet her… And even happier that she was way more cooler than I could ever expect! n_n

One of my favorite pages from the art book is a collage of vintage Kitty items — particularly the wrist watch and the calculator (*oopsie* it is cut off)… They both conjure up childhood memories… And you know how I looove me some nostalgia! n_~

But I think THE BEST and MOST UNEXPECTED thing ever is the shout out toward the end of the book! Jamie casually asked me, “Hey, did you see that you are mentioned?” I was a little confused… I thought maybe she meant Sanrio thanked all the fans, afterall, this event is a special treat for all us super fans… But I asked, “Who? Me? Are you sure!?!?!?” *annoying happy squeal of excitement* Awww! :’) You have no idea how happy my heart is! I am thanked in the Three Apples art book! @_@ Me >>> “Maria at Hello Kitty Junkie” <<< Meee!!! I have officially been recognized in print! Waaaaaaa! :’) Happy tears, of course!

In September, I was informed that I would be getting a physical invitation to Hello Kitty’s Three Apples kick off for Thursday, October 22, 2009. *Thank you Dyann!!!* I was in awe! I mean, meee!? I get to check out Kitty-chan’s exhibit before the general public!? o_O Needless to say, I felt very special when it actually arrived at my house! My invitation came in a red sparkly envelope with a special Three Apples stamp! *_*

The actual card is super kawaii! The front has a 3d paper craft Hello Kitty that you can make… But there is NO WAY I will cut up my invitation! o_O

So… Let me just say that I had no idea it was going to be a celeb-ed out VIP soiree! I only knew it was an exclusive event when Lauren (one of the girls I work with) asked me if I was going to the red carpet Hello Kitty party! Knowing that made me even more excited to attend that night! I went with a couple of Hello Kitty Junkies and definitely made sure I was early (I am usually late-ish to everything)… These photos are especially for my Hello Kitty crazy friends out of state (TX, FL, PA, NY, etc.) and out of country (France, Philippines, Singapore, etc.) who could not be here! @_@

Remember when Carrie was looking at the penthouse with Big and said, “Hello! I live here!” (Sex and The City movie)? That is EXACTLY what I said in my head (but there were people around so I was trying to be as normal as possible). My dreams came true when I got to enter Kitty-chan’s apartment!

This is the purrr-fect place to do some work… Or would I be too distracted with the kawaii overload!?

My fellow Hello Kitty Junkies — Anjh, Bellerina, Christian, Grace,  Jenna, Sheena, etc. All the awesome Sanrio (Super Jill, Super Dave, Susan…) and JapanLA (Jamie, Vance, Lindsay…) Peeps! Everybody was extremely kind! I was definitely overwhelmed… So much excitement that it was difficult for me to fall asleep when I got home… But in the end, my heart was happy! Thank you to everybody who was involved in putting this together — abso-kitty-lutely brilliant! *_*

We will play a couple of games (*hints* study Hello Kitty’s bio; know your Sanrio characters), win a few prizes, create Hello Kitty origami, chat with other Junkies, take photos with Hello Kitty… I could go on and on, but if you are reading this, you should already know about the AMAZING kittified apartment, the 80+ contemporary artists’ works on display, the kittilicious menu, the awesome vintage items, the pop-up shop with way too many Kitty merch I want NEED in my collection, etc., etc. n_~

I am really looking forward to this weekend! Sharing this experience with people who love Hello Kitty to the ultimate level… That is seriously priceless! I hope to see you there! Feel free to bring a non-Hello Kitty obsessed friend too — maybe we can peer pressure them to becoming a Hello Kitty Junkie! lol

P.S. The super cool peeps over at Sanrio are so generous that we will be getting Three Apples gift baggies!!! And believe me, they are awesome! n_n
