I helped out a few friends on a video for a new app they pitched to Google at the beginning of November. It was a lot of fun, even when riding around Atlanta on the squeakiest bike ever with no breaks!

Woops, I missed a day. [I don't count the weekends in this "challenge"] I blame it on not having Internet for the past 2 weeks in the new apartment. It only took FOUR Comcast technicians and then my roommate finally Googling how to connect our router. The final technician figured out the wiring, but was baffled by the router.

Now we have Internet and all is right with the world...inside our apartment anyway. ;D Now I can share with you all pictures of when some of my friends and I took a trek to the pumpkin patch last month.

When I was younger I was a HUGE reader! I refused to get in the car unless I had a book with me.

[I'm lucky to be someone who can read in the car without getting sick]

Then as I grew older, the Internet stole my soul, and I just generally became busier, books took a back seat in my life. I've recently rediscovered my love of books again and I've started to compile a list of soon-to-read. Here are just a few I'm itching to get my paws on.

I've known Roxy from grrfesity for a good 9-10 years online, and today, I FINALLY MET HER IN PERSON!!!

She was in Atlanta for the WFTDA Championships and I was able to grab Sunday brunch and give her the 2cent Atlanta tour.

She's just as awesome as she is online and I didn't feel any first meeting awkwardness at all. I actually kept forgetting this was the first time we had ever met because it was so relaxed. Hopefully I can make it out to her neck of the woods before another 10 years goes by. ;D

My Instant October

Today is packing so that tomorrow I can move approximately a block over. Yep, you heard me--ONE BLOCK OVER. Don't you love apartment management who moves you in an apartment only to tell you 2 weeks later they are tearing your building down and you have to relocate? So much frustration!

So let's look back at the happier times in October. It flew by, but I was still lucky enough to sneak in a few fall activities!

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!

I only had one costume this year...but it was pretty awesome. I was the Yellow Power Ranger from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! The idea was originally created for a group of us to wear in a Halloween bike ride and then I reused my costume again for a Halloween party later in the month.

We all bought spandex body suits and then heat-pressed the vinyl diamonds on ourselves. The Yellow Power Ranger doesn't have a skirt like the Pink Power Ranger because she was originally a male character in the Japanese show, so I hunted down some yellow shorts so I didn't feel so exposed. Unfortunately, the males in our groups were not as concerned about that as me...so I apologize for the male bulge/s below. ;p

(I also apologize for the wide variety of sizes. I'm pulling these image from a lot of different sources and am being a lazy blogger and not making them all the same size)

Please note my one finger that is exposed so I could use my phone. haha

Then I just removed that glove completely so I could eat food without it getting all gross. yeah-classy!

I can't believe how long it's been since I updated this blog. :X I've been super stressed with school and moving twice within 30 days...it's just made time switch to warp speed. As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I will be heading to Chicago from September 16th through the 22nd. The main reason we are going is to attend the Cusp Conference, but we allotted some extra time to explore!

That's where I need your help--what do we DO/SEE/EAT while we are there??!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :D

P.S. How cold will it be up there around this time of the year? This is coming from a girl that has only every lived in the South. My friends that are going with me say it will be fine, but I have my doubts.

I actually wore this outfit several weeks ago and then forgot about the pictures on my camera. The end of a school quarter will do that to you. I have no idea what day it is lately. [hopefully I will remember I have a dentist appointment Friday, I've already rescheduled 3 times. yikes!]

September is going to fly by, I can already feel it. This quarter ends in 9 days, will be vending at STRUT, and then I'm road-tripping it up to Chicago to attend the Cusp Conference! When I come home I will HOPEFULLY be moving. Knock on some wood and cross some fingers for me. ;D ...and then school starts up all over again wooooweeee

Trashwater

Trashwater is a non-profit providing innovative, clean water solutions through partnerships with communities in developing nations. It's a really great organizations run by some very passionate people, and right now they are campaigning to build a Purification Center in Nicaragua at the end of October. This Purification Center will provide people with consistent access to clean water or toilets. I think this group is doing amazing things in bringing education, awareness, and most importantly change in the lives of people that wouldn't necessarily have the option otherwise.

Since the end of October will quickly be at our doorstep, Trashwater is actively raising funds for their trip to Nicaragua.

There are several ways you can help out!

Indiegogo Campaign Page - this site is similar to Kickstarter in the way that there are different perks at different contribution levels. You can also find out more information about the non-profit and see a video of the two founders explaining the campaign in full.

Getting To Know You

I've mentioned this to a few people, but I've really been struggling with my presence on my blog. What I mean by that is I don't feel like I really give enough of myself so that people reading my blog can connect with me--I'm very at arms length. Now I've been blogging [aka I had a Livejournal] for many moons, and looking back, I've always been like this. I just post a lot of pictures and not a lot about me-- so much that a regular reader could certainly pick me out from a crowded street, but couldn't tell you much about me besides my name. While this blog will never be a "Dear Diary" sort of blog, I still want to at least come of as relatable ...to someone...anyone?

I think my main hangups when writing on a more personal level is:

A. By the time I get to the computer I've already talked myself out of whatever I was going to write about. I don't know about anyone else, but I think of a lot of ideas in the shower, or right before bed. I'll have it all written out in my head, but when I sit down to type it out, I just stop. Either because I tell myself it wouldn't be interesting to anyone else, or because....

B. I'm too afraid to write that much copy. My writing is sometimes just a hot mess. I'm the kind of person who thinks a lot faster than I write [and speak, but that's a whole other insecurity], which results in me constructing a lot of discombobulated sentences because of me starting and restarting sentences several times. [then toss in the fact that I read fast, so catching my hiccups doesn't always happen] I mean honestly, this whole me explaining my writing woes could end up making no sense in the end. haha Add in that I by no means am a grammar master, and you have why I tend to shy away from writing.

BUT WHO CARES?!

Someone is either going to read what I wrote or not, but certainly no one will read it if I never write it. Plus, I'll never get better if I don't work on it. So here I am, with probably the largest amount of copy to date. It's not flooded with imagery either, it's just me and what I'm really dealing with. I'm going to continue to push myself on this blog to dig past just surface level. I'll still have all the things I have on the blog now, because I enjoy them, there will now just be more to read. ;D
