Here are 3 simple and standard methods to keep it "in shape":

1. Disk Clean-up (advised to perform once a week)
Purpose: Scan drive for unwanted files like compressed old files, offline webpages, recycle bin (deleted items), etc, and remove them to restore disc space.
Note: If this is the first time you "Disk Cleanup" the computer, it may take up to an hour, depending on the size of files and computer's processor speed

Directions:
a. Open up "My Computer"
b. Look for your "C: drive" and right click it, select "Properties"
c. A window will be opened and under the "General" Tab, you will see a "Disk Cleanup" button
d. Click "Disk Cleanup" and it will begin scanning your "C: drive" for unwanted files
e. Another window will pop-up with a list of files to be deleted
f. Click to select every file and click "OK"
g. Wait for "Disk Cleanup" to finish cleaning your drive and you're DONE!

2. Check Disk or Error Checking (advised to perform once a month)
(requires restart and windows will scan during start up)
Purpose: Scan disk to check problems arised from improper shut-down, short-cut and registry problems which slows down your computer, and automatically fixed them, with a chance to restore bad sectors
Note: This process may take up to a few hours depending on computer's processor speed

Directions:

a. Open up "My Computer"

b. Look for your "C: drive" and right click it, select "Properties"

3. Disk Defragmentation (advised to perform once every 2 months)

(best performed when all active programs are turned off)

Purpose: Files get fragmented over long usage which slows down the loading speed of your computer. Defragmentation, from its name, defragments your disk to allow faster access and response of your computer.

Note: If this is the first time you "Disk Degragment" the computer, it may take up to a few hours, depending on the computer's processor speed

Directions:

a. Open up "My Computer"

b. Look for your "C: drive" and right click it, select "Properties"

c. A window will be opened and under the "Tools" Tab, you will see a "Defragment Now..." button

d. Click on "Defragment Now..." and a "Disk Defragmenter" window will open up

e. Click "Defragment" to begin process

f. Windows will prompt you once Defragmentation is completed

My office's laptop has it's Administrator access locked by a password where I could do nothing to install any programs.
It is running with Internet Explorer without Adobe Flash Player Plugin installed!
Isn't it boring to have no software or program to support your web browsing during break time?

I found out a way to "by-pass" this irritating issue. (of course I'm not making you hack your system!)
If a web browser can be "installed" without initiating the executional program, it won't be affected by Admin access restriction.

This wonderful web-browser, Google Chrome, is a fast loading and user-friendly web browser and it installs in just a few minutes!
It is initiated by auto-extraction of files to designated folder and opens an updater where latest updates are automatically downloaded to your system.

Here is a step-by-step guide (Win XP and Vista users only):
1. Download Google Chrome here and go through its installation process.

2. Download Flash Player plugin here. (flashplayer-win)

3. Rename flashplayer-win by adding .zip at the end of the filename.
(it will look like this: "flashplayer-win.zip")

4. Close Google Chrome if it was started after the installation.

5. Right-click "flashplayer-win.zip" and extract contents with WinRAR.
(you will find a few files, including “flashplayer.xpt” and “NPSWF32.dll” at your destinated folder)

6.1. For Win XP users,
Paste “flashplayer.xpt” and “NPSWF32.dll” into the following folder (just copy and paste):
C:\Documents and Settings\%Username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\Plugins

6.2. For Win Vista users,
Go to the following folder (just copy and paste)
C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application
In the "Application" folder, create a new folder and name it "Plugins"
Paste “flashplayer.xpt” and “NPSWF32.dll” into the "Plugins" folder.

7. Now start Google Chrome and enjoy your flash games and videos!
