Robbery Unit (#OPSRU) investigating a Montreal Rd. retail robbery

On Monday May 6, 2013, at approximately 5:20 pm, two suspects entered a retail establishment situated along the 200 block of Montreal Rd. One of the suspects engaged the employee in conversation while the second suspect smashed a glass display case with a metal bar. That suspect then quickly stole a quantity of jewelry and fled the store. When the first suspect’s exit from the store was impeded by the store employee, the employee was assaulted. No injuries were sustained as a result of the robbery.

The suspects are described as follows:

1.White male, 30-35 years old, short brown hair, clean shaven, about 5'11" (180 cm) and 180 lbs, (82kg). He was wearing black sunglasses with thick frame and a bit of white at the top of the frames, a black t-shirt, with what appeared to be a red eagle or dragon on the front and back, dark pants, and white running shoes.

2. White male, darker complexion, about 25-30 years old, with brown hair, a beard (described as either not fully grown or a “chin-strap”), approximately 5”10”(178cm) and 150 lbs(68kg). He was wearing a blue baseball cap, blue t-shirt and jeans.

Robbery Unit (#OPSRU) investigating a convenience store robbery

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating an April robbery at a convenience store.

On April 22, 2013, at approximately 12:55 am, a lone male entered a convenience store situated along the 500 block of Montreal Rd. The suspect made repeated demands for cash. The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed quantity of money and a small quantity of cigarettes. There were no injuries and no weapon was seen. The suspect fled to a smaller 4 door black sedan that had no front license plate.

The suspect is described as being a white male, 40-50 years old, short dark brown hair with a receding hair line, approximately 5’8”-6’0”,(173-183cm) medium build, clean shaven, no visible scars/tattoos. He was wearing a blue/green spring jacket (no logos), light blue jeans, and black t-shirt.

Robbery Unit (#OPSRU) investigating three bank robberies

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating a bank robbery that is believed linked to two previous robberies.

On April 12, 2013, at approximately 10:15 am, a lone male entered a bank situated along the 1100 block of Wellington St. W. The male produced a note making a demand for cash and indicating he had a gun, though no weapon was seen. The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of money. There were no injuries.

The suspect was described as being a black male, 5’3-5’7”, (160-170cm), slim build, clean shaven. He wore blue jeans and a black jacket.

This suspect is believed to also be responsible for two previous bank robberies on April 2 and April 4, 2013.

Robbery Unit (#OPSRU) investigating March 28 bank robbery in Barrhaven

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is seeking the public's assistance in a bank robbery investigation.

On March 28, 2013, at approximately 10:50 am, a lone male entered a banking institution situated along the 3600 block of Standherd Drive in Barrhaven. The suspect made repeated demands to multiple bank employees. No weapon was seen. The suspect fled, with an undisclosed quantity of cash, to a waiting vehicle. He was seen entering the passenger seat of what is described as a black Nissan Altima with heavily tinted windows.

The suspect is described as being a Caucasian male, 25-30 years of age, approximately 6'0" (183 cm) tall, approximately 190 lbs.(86 kg), medium build. He was dressed all in black, with a black hooded sweatshirt with a black/white diamond pattern, black track pants with a stripe on the legs, and black gloves. He wore sunglasses and a handkerchief covering his face.

The driver of the vehicle is described as being a Caucasian male, short-cropped hair, and being larger than the suspect that entered the bank.

Robbery Unit (#OPSRU) seeks bank robbery suspect

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating two recent bank robberies believed committed by the same suspect.

On April 2, 2013, at approximately 10:15 am, a lone male entered a bank situated along the 0-100 block of Beechwood Avenue. The suspect produced a note making a demand for cash. The suspect indicated he was armed but no weapon was seen. The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash. There were no injuries.

On April 4, 2013, 9:30 am, a lone male entered a bank situated along the 2600 block of Innes Road. The suspect produced a note making a demand for cash. The suspect indicated he was armed and a weapon was possibly seen. The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash. There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as being a black male, 25-40 years, approx. 5-5"-5'7" (165 to 170 cm), slim build. He was described as having a long face with a slight moustache.

Robbery Unit (#OPSRU) investigating bank robbery

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating a recent bank robbery and is seeking the public’s assistance to identify the suspect.

On Thursday, March 28, 2013, at approximately 12:00 pm, a lone male suspect entered a bank situated along the 400 block of Bank Street. The suspect, armed with a handgun, made a demand for cash. The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of money to a waiting pick-up truck driven by a second suspect. There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as being a Caucasian male, 5 feet 6 inches (168 cms) to 5 feet 8 inches (173 cms), bald or short cropped hair, 175 lbs (79 kgs), with a goatee and a tattoo on the right side of his neck. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black sunglasses and black gloves. (see attached image)

The vehicle is described as being a dark green or grey pick-up truck that was believed to have a Quebec license plate that began with the letter “W”. There is no description for the driver at this time.

Ottawa Police investigating January retail robbery

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating a January retail robbery and is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect.

On January 9, 2013, a lone male entered a convenience store situated along the 2300 block of Carling Avenue. The suspect was armed with what appeared to be a pair of scissors. The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash. There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as being a white male, medium build, approx. 5"8"(173 cm), short-dark facial hair, 30-40 years.

Robbery Unit (#OPSRU)investigating Prince of Wales retail robbery

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating a retail robbery and is seeking the public's assistance to identify the suspect.

On December 21, 2012, a lone male suspect entered a convenience store situated along the 1800 block of Prince of Wales Drive near Fisher Avenue. The suspect, armed with a metal bar, demanded cash and cigarettes. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of both. There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as being a black male with a lighter complexion, black hair, brown eyes, approximately 6'0"(183 cm), heavy set. He was wearing a brown jacket with a logo on the right sleeve, a brown toque, and black jeans and sneakers (see attached image).

The Ottawa Police Service is investigating at least two retail robberies believed to be linked to the same individuals and is seeking the public's assistance.

On January 8, 2013, at approximately 6:00 pm, two suspects entered a convenience store situated along the 1000 block of St. Laurent Boulevard. One of the suspects was armed with a metal bar. A demand was made for cash and the suspects fled with an undisclosed quantity of same.

Later the same date, at approximately 7:40 pm, two suspects attended a gas station situated along the 3400 block of Carling Avenue. One suspect entered while the second remained outside the door. A demand was made for cash but the suspects ultimately fled the premises empty handed.

Robbery investigators are reviewing other recent retail robberies to establish potential links to these suspects.

The suspects are described as:

1: Male, darker complexion (possibly latino), medium build, approximately 5foot10 (178cm) "wispy moustache", approximately 25 years of age

#2: Black male, black winter coat with fur around the hood

Ottawa Police Robbery Unit (#OPSRU) investigating Jan. 4/2013 retail robberies

The Ottawa Police Service is investigating at least two retail robberies believed to be linked to the same individuals and is seeking the public's assistance.

On January 4, 2013, at approximately 3:15 pm, two suspects entered a convenience store situated along the 2200 block of Arch Street. One of the suspects was armed with a tire iron. A demand was made for cash and cigarettes and the suspects fled with an undisclosed quantity of each.

On January 4, 2013, at approximately 3:45 pm, two suspects entered a convenience store situated along the 1000 block of St. Laurent Boulevard. A demand was made for cash but the suspects ultimately fled the store empty handed.

Robbery investigators are reviewing other recent retail robberies to establish potential links to these suspects.

The suspects are described as:

#1: Male, darker complexion, approximately 25 years of age, wearing a red waist length winter coat with fur lining the hood

#2: Caucasian male, approximately 25 years of age, wearing an orange waist length winter coat

Ottawa Police investigating a swarming

The Ottawa Police Service is investigating a swarming and is seeking the public's assistance in the investigation.

On November 10 2012, at approximately 2:00 am a lone male victim was accosted by a group of males aboard an OC Transpo bus. The males began searching through the victim's property and threw items at him. The males fled the bus with a laptop computer belonging to the victim. The suspects also attempted, unsuccessfully, to steal the phone of another passenger as they exited the bus. There were no injuries.

A photograph of one of the suspects was taken during the course of the swarming (attached).

The suspect male appears to be possibly of middle-eastern descent and approximately 18-20 years of age.

Ottawa Police investigating a bank robbery

The Ottawa Police Service is investigating a bank robbery and is seeking the public's assistance in the investigation.

On October 22, 2012, at approximately 2:28 pm, a lone male entered a bank situated along the 200 block of Main Street. The suspect passed a note making a demand for cash. The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash. No weapon was seen and there were no injuries.

The suspect is described as being a Caucasian male, in his late 30's/early 40's, approximately 5'5" (165 cm), slim build, reddish/blond beard, bad teeth, pock marked face, swollen lips. He was wearing a gray hoodie, dark sunglasses, and jeans. He had a strong odor of alcohol and cigarette smoke (see attached image.)

Ottawa Police seeking taxi-robbery suspect

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is still investigating two June taxi robberies and a third robbery that occurred on July 25.

On July 25, at approximately 5:40 am, a taxi driver was parked adjacent to the Fairmont Chateau Laurier and was approached by a suspect. The suspect arranged for a fare to Barrhaven. When the suspect entered the taxi, and the driver requested the fare in advance, the suspect immediately pulled a knife, made a demand for cash, and assaulted the driver. During the struggle with the suspect, the driver received minor injuries that required treatment at hospital.

This latest police investigation is believed to be linked to the two previous incidents under investigation by the Robbery Unit. Today, the Robbery Unit is re-releasing surveillance images from the previous robberies, along with two other images.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, early 20's, 5 feet 6 inches (168 cm) to 5 feet 8 inches (173 cm), thin build, with shorter light brown hair, and English speaking with no accent (see attached images).

Ottawa Police seeking public's assistance in jewelry store robbery

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect responsible for a jewelry store robbery.

On July 26, 2012, at approximately 2:00 pm, a lone male entered a jewelry store situated along the 1900 block of St. Laurent Boulevard. The male initially posed as an interested customer but then suddenly made a more violent demand for jewelry. The suspect smashed a jewelry display case but ultimately fled the store empty handed. The suspect fled to a waiting vehicle with one or two other occupants. The waiting vehicle was possibly a silver Honda Civic.

The suspect is described as being a black male, larger build, 6'1"(1,85 m), 22-25yrs, dark hair, clean shaven, wearing a grey hoodie. (see attached image)

Ottawa Police seeking to identify suspect in Market robbery investigation

The Ottawa Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in relation to a swarming that occurred in the ByWard Market area.

On May 13, 2012, at approximately 3:00am, a lone male victim was walking near King Edward Avenue/Clarence Street when he was approached by four males. The suspects struck up a conversation with the victim, who was then punched in the face by one of the suspects. The suspects then fled the scene with the victim’s wallet and some jewellery. The victim suffered no injuries.

On June 2, 2012 a suspect was arrested in the ByWard Market area after being found in possession of property taken during the robbery. Daniel RHEAUME, age 39, of Ottawa, was charged with robbery and possession of stolen property.

RHEAUME is in custody and will appear in court on June 28, 2012.

Today, the Robbery Unit is releasing images of another suspect believed to have been in possession of other property taken during the course of the robbery (see attached image). No descriptions are available of the remaining suspects at this time.
