There will be a variety of booths, as well as entertainment during the festivities.  South Metro’s Best Radio, 92.5 the Bear will have a live remote from the festival, time and details to be announced.   Shane’s Rib Shack, Truett’s Grill - Chik-Fil-A, and Planet FroJo will be among the tasty food vendors.  There will also be hamburgers, BBQ, Kettle Corn, chicken sandwiches, and more will be available for your enjoyment.

The first practice for the Heron Bay Hurricanes Swim Team will be on Tuesday, May 21st at 5pm.  Practice will continue Wednesday - Thursday, May 22nd – 23rd and Tuesday – Friday, May 28th – May 31st from 5p – 7p.  Beginning Monday, June 3rd, practices will be from 8a-10a.  Going forward, practices are scheduled for Monday – Thursday. If needed, make-up practices will be held on Friday’s due to bad weather.

There will be two (2) swim meets at the Heron Bay Community Association Amenity Center this summer. Swim meets are planned for Thursday, June 13, 2013 and Thursday, June 20, 2013, beginning at 5pm and  ending  at various times dependent on the number of teams participating. The Jr. Olympic pool will be closed to residents at 3PM on these two dates in preparation for the meets.

Advanced Aquatics will also offer swim lessons as they have in the past. For more information, call Advanced Aquatics at 770-472-5959.

The Heron Bay Community Association will offer early morning swimming for those residents who wish to “swim at their own risk” starting Monday, May 13th  thru Friday, May 17th and again Monday, May 20th  thru Thursday, May 23rd, 2013. Early morning swim will be from 9am-1pm on the dates mentioned above. Sorry, no weekend swimming until the pool officially opens on Friday, May 24th.

The strawberry patch is just over 2 acres, open to visitors for “Pick-Your-Own” from April to June - depending on Mother Nature, of course. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 8a to 6p and Sundays, 1p to 6p (hours are dependent upon berry availability). Not only are the berries from Southern Belle Farms full of flavor, but they come at a great price. You can pick your own one gallon bucket of strawberries for $10. Maybe you are in a hurry, on your way to a family gathering and do not have the time to pick your own…you’re in luck. For $12, you can take a pre-picked gallon of the delicious berries home.
 

Strawberries are not the only thing this fabulous farm has to offer. Blackberry picking, as well as a corn maze and friendly farm animals, are also part of Southern Belle Farms. More than 350 residents gathered at the pavilion for a fun afternoon of hunting eggs, dancing, eating, and games. They even had a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny.  Sandwiches were provided by Chick-Fil-A, and residents enjoyed cotton candy which was provided by Dean Bendall of Academy Mortgage.  The DJ, Scott from “Out and About Entertainment” kept the music going and the kids smiling.  Prize baskets were given to children for most eggs found and for finding the golden egg.
 

The residents at Heron Bay are very involved in the community and the events that take place - a big THANK YOU to all the great resident volunteers who helped plan and organize this wonderful event, they did an AMAZING job!

In addition to fishing, residents can also enjoy a leisurely float along the reservoir in a kayak, canoe, paddle boat or any type of boat that uses an electric/trolling motor (boats running gasoline engines are not allowed.) Since Henry County regulates the reservoir, all users are required to enter the lake at a designated area and are required to carry the proper fishing permits. Luckily for Heron Bay residents, the boat launch is only a short five minute drive away at 160 Hunter Road.

With summer fast approaching, Heron Bay’s Lakefront Park pavilion will be the perfect place for families and friends to enjoy the amazing view of this magnificent reservoir.  Just imagine after a long day, taking a stroll along the shoreline, having a picnic, and watching the glistening water as the sun sets and the evening comes to an end. Its resort-style living at its best!

{image_1}Residents of Heron Bay hop on over to Lakefront Park and Pavilion for this year’s Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 23 from 11:00am-2:00pm.  Lakefront Park will be a beautiful location for this event with 5 acres of manicured lawn, the cool breeze from the reservoir and the little laughs and giggles from the kids running around and having fun!
 

This year we will have the traditional egg hunt for children up to 12 years old, food and drinks, games and a DJ!  Did I mention a visit from the Easter Bunny?

Your yard can take a beating throughout the harsh winter season, so during the spring it’s very important to perform maintenance and get your yard ready for the scorching summer months.  Some of the tasks you’ll want to include on your “to-do” list are cleaning the flower beds, raking leaves, picking weeds, aerating and fertilizing the lawn.  Using a good fertilizer can be crucial to replenishing the food your lawn used while it was dormant all through the winter months. 
 

Also, you’ll want to schedule a maintenance appointment for lawn equipment soon. Whether you are a “do it yourself” type of person or would prefer to leave it to the professionals, having your equipment in good working order can keep things running smoothly in the upcoming months.

There are so many options; all it takes is some creative planning. With the demands of work, summer camp, summer school or sports activities, it might be easier to get away for a few days during spring break instead of summer. Whether you have a week or a weekend, you can find something to do.  Now is the time to start planning.

One place you may not want to visit during your break is Orlando, Florida.  Orlando is known as the Spring Break Capital for families.  You don’t have to remove it from your list, just plan on going after the break and before summer to avoid the big crowds and maybe even save some money.

If you plan on staying local, here are a few suggestions to enjoy with the family – Fernbank Museum of National History, Georgia Aquarium, Six Flags over Georgia, The Children’s Museum of Atlanta, Stone Mountain Park, and Noah’s Ark, just to name a few.  Of course, there is always the movies, shopping and when all else fails, spring cleaning!

Keep in mind, Heron Bay is a wonderful place to enjoy spring break.  Have a picnic at Lakefront Park, walk a different trail each day, enjoy a round of golf at Canongate Golf Club.  Dust off the bike, ride through the community and enjoy the outdoors!  There is nothing better than laughing, spending time, and making new memories with family during your next spring break.
