Movie Themes Avengers Uniforms coming to Marvel:Avengers Alliance

The special edition uniforms reflect the look and characteristics of their movie counterparts, and also trigger new “Avengers Assemble” team abilities.

The “Avengers Assemble” rewards any team with a movie-uniformed Avenger with the status “Coordinated Attack,” which triggers a follow-up attack whenever a movie-uniformed Avenger attacks the enemy. When players fight battles with a second movie-uniformed hero, the team is also awarded “Coordinated Defense” status, which triggers a counter-attack when the movie-uniformed hero is attacked by an enemy.

The Black Widow and Hawkeye uniforms are live in the game now, while the additional movie-themed uniforms will debut in the coming days.

In advance of the May 4 premiere of Marvel’s The Avengers, Marvel is launching a series of movie-themed uniforms that will allow Avengers fans to play as their favorite movie character in the hit Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance (http://www.facebook.com/avengersalliance). The game has experienced steady audience growth since launching in March, and now attracts 1.2 million daily users.

Joker Cosplay Wondercon 2012

The Joker is an incredibly popular costume at any Comic Con, and I can vouch for that statement from personal experience. Often the Joker cosplay is kind of sad. It’s a deceivingly simple rig. I mean what do you really need, some make-up, a purple suit, and a kooky attitude? Sure, you need all of that, but it rarely comes together as well as this. I’ve been searching around the net trying to figure out who this guy is and I got zilch, and he deserves some credit, because he looks fantastic!

If anyone has some information about this guy or where these pictures originated please let me know.

Retractable Vampire Fangs

When I first saw the ad for these, deep down I was super excited but up top I thought they were going to be lame. These retractable fangs aren’t perfect, but they are incredibly neat, and at like $26 dollars, I’d say completely affordable.

I’m not certain how they work, and watching the video doesn’t explain much, but who cares because they do work and that’s really all the matters.

During the Golden Age of animation Jones helped bring to life many of Warner Bros. most famous characters—Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and Porky Pig. The list of characters he created himself includes Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Marvin Martian, Pepe le Pew, Michigan J. Frog and many others. He also produced, directed and wrote the screenplays for “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” a television classic, as well as the feature-length film “The Phantom Tollbooth.” In addition, Jones was a prolific artist whose work has been exhibited at galleries and museums worldwide.

The Art of Bernie Wrightson

Bernie “Berni” Wrightson (born October 27, 1948, Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.) is an American artist known for his horror illustrations and comic books. If you didn’t already know that, have never heard of the man, or are simply new to the world of comics, prepare to become a fan.

Wandering through the library back when I was only 14 years old, I happened upon a graphic novel so enticingly dark, so frighteningly detailed, and carefully crafted I wasn’t sure how to react.

The graphic novel was created by an artist named Bernie Wrightson and the book is a retelling of the classic horror novel, Frankenstein. The artwork in the book changed my life. I was already in love with comics, but this was different, Wrightson’s artwork was…art. I had never seen anything so beautiful, twisted, and cool in my entire life.

To this day Bernie Wrightson’s Frankenstein stands tall above all other graphic novels in my mind.

In honor of the dude who blew my pubescent 14 year old mind I offer you this loving feature. Wrightson’s artwork is so cool it gives me a shudder of envy every time I see it.
