Official and “legal-ish” disclosure: Did you know that we’re packing up and moving to Ireland in just 3 months? We’ll be serving a long term missions assignment with YWAM and in order to make that happen we are raising funds! This post contains affiliate links so if you buy one of the Homemaking Ebook Bundles today you are also helping us financially. I will earn a commission with every sale that is made. So thank you in advance!

Back to your regularly scheduled post…

For 6 days only, more than 75 widely-known bloggers and authors in the homemaking sphere have joined together to offer 97 of their most popular eBooks and eCourses, valued at just over $600, for the incredibly low price of $29.97!

More than anything, our goal for this sale was for it to be, well… ultimate! We firmly believe that you will not find a more comprehensive collection of homemaking resources anywhere on the web, and particularly not in this price range. For this low price, you gain access to every single one of these resources, so that you can customize your own collection to contain exactly the ones you want and know you’ll use.

This library of homemaking helps include topics such as mothering, organization and cleaning, recipes and kitchen helps, home education, spiritual growth for both moms and kids, home décor and DIY, pregnancy and baby care, frugal living, health and fitness, and even work-from-home and financial tools.

To sweeten the pot, we’ve also teamed up with 10 companies to bring you over $140 in bonus offers, giving you an affordable opportunity to get products you’ll use and love for only the cost of shipping, or in some cases, entirely for free!

Time went on and in September of 2008 we added a sweet little boy to our family. Caleb was born nearly 6 weeks early. Healthy and perfect. It was around this time that my Virtual Assistance business really took off and I was able to work from home while caring for our family. We lead a small group for a few years and loved the group of friends that our small group provided. Even though I loved living in PA, I was surrounded by fantastic friends and we were busy growing a new family I started to really miss YWAM and missions work in 2010. I had a peace knowing that my place was at home in Pennsylvania, I knew that was where the Lord wanted us to be at that time.

In the summer of 2012 Kevin and I started to talk about missions work again. I don’t even remember how it came up. He was eager and really interested in pursuing full-time ministry. He had been working at the same company for 12 years and although it was a good job, consistant and very family-friendly company, he knew that he wanted to be doing more. We started to research several YWAM bases in the States. We looked at Hawaii (the Kona base is one of the bigest and also the main training center for YWAM), Salem, OR, Montana and Orlando. We learned about each base and prayed about each one. During the time we were praying that the Lord would close doors. God answered our prayers and was clearly closing the doors to each of those bases for us.

In October, while attending the Allume Conference, I was talking with one of my friends (and clients) Kristin from LoveFeast Table. She had just returned home from 2 weeks in Ireland working with a YWAM base to help plan a cafe on the base. The funny thing is that although I knew she was going to Ireland and I knew that she was going to a YWAM base , I didn’t even connect the dots. I didn’t put it all together and wasn’t even thinking that YWAM Ireland was an option. When she returned I was convinced that she would be moving her family back there, I didn’t even for a minute think about us serving in Ireland… until October, when she started to tell me about the base and the ministries in Ireland.

I vividly remember the Lord saying to me “pay attention” I listened hard to Kristin’s stories; she talked about the cafe that they were hoping to start, the DTS schools that they were holding, and the other ministries that they were doing in Ireland. I wish I could explain the feeling that I felt but I knew that God was clearly showing me an open door.

I returned home from Allume and Kevin said to me, “Tell me more about Ireland”. He had a big smile on his face and I think we both knew that this was NOT a closed door. We continued to pray about Ireland, we asked the Lord several times to close the door if it wasn’t where He was sending us. It became very clear to us through several confirmations that this was where we were being called.

In November we had planned to get together with Kristin and her husband Devon down in Baltimore to have them pray with us and talk to us more about YWAM Ireland. We also decided to finally e-mailed YWAM Ireland’s base director, Jonny and find out what needs they had on their base in Rostrevor. In his reply e-mail he asked if we would be in the Baltimore area the weekend of Thanksgiving, he was going to be in the States that weekend.

Talking with Jonny Clark, director at YWAM Ireland : Photo from LoveFeast’s Instagram

Jonny was coming the same weekend we were already planned on going to Baltimore to meet with the Potlers. Kristen and her husband kindly invited all of us over to their house for dinner. We were thrilled that we had an opportunity to meet Jonny in person and the timing couldn’t have been better. We had a fantastic night. Jonny shared the vision of YWAM Ireland with us, we were able to ask questions and share our heart for cafe ministry as well as why we felt like God was calling us to Ireland. Jonny affirmed our interest in YWAM Ireland and we drove home that night feeling so much peace. We knew that we were at the beginning of a big journey.

{part 5 coming soon}

When I was originally introduced to What’s In The Bible videos I was immediately impressed. Created by Phil Vischer (the creator of Veggie Tales) each video is full of biblical history and truth. We’ve watched nearly every episode and I’m perfectly comfortable telling you that I’ve been learning along with the kids. What’s In The Bible episodes teach so much more than basic Bible stories. Visher has found a creative and unique way to teach more complex ideas from the Bible to children. The videos are hilarious, I’m often caught laughing along with the kids.

I was thrilled to be asked to review Volume 10 – The Gospels!

&amp;amp;lt;a href=”http://whatsinthebible.zferral.com/l/120/16826″ title=”"&amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;lt;img src=”http://whatsinthebible.zferral.com/m/120″ alt=”" title=”" style=”border: none” /&amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;lt;/a&amp;amp;gt;

While we have enjoyed all of the Old Testament Volumes we have been waiting patiently for the New Testament episodes to be released.

Did you know that Matthew, Mark and Luke are called the Synoptic Gospels?? No?? Neither did I!

This has got to be my favorite video by far. At the end of the video Phil Vischer presents the gospel in a way that children will understand that is what really makes Volume 10 so important!

Reasons why we love What’s In The Bible Videos

1. Entertaining - Full of creative characters like “Sunday School Lady” Clive, Ian and our favorite, Michael. We have come to love the characters in What’s In The Bible. Every time the videos start we know that Michael is going to be up first, buckled in his car seat STILL on his way to grandmas house.

2. Teaches History - I’ve always wanted a deeper understanding of biblical history and these videos offer a great start for children. I’ve been impressed by the concepts that are taught and how well they are explained.

3. Great Variety - I’ve enjoyed the mix of teaching, music and stories on each of the What’s In The Bible Videos. This variety keeps the attention of the children and makes learning even more fun.

4. Educational - We have used What’s In the Bible as supplemental bible curriculum with our homeschooling. The episodes have lead to great discussions and helped our daughter to really understand some foundational bible history.

6. FREE Digital Copy - This is a weird thing to love but I do love it. We are planning our move overseas at the end of the summer and also in the process of downsizing and trying to simplify our belongings. I can easily download the videos to an external hard drive and leave the DVD’s behind when we move. Perfect for families that travel.

7. Extras - Every volume comes with several FREE coloring pages that you can print for free. There are also games and puzzles on the website that you can download.

What’s in the Bible is offering 20% off the Volume 1-10 Bundle PLUS free shipping!

Disclosure: Jellyfish Labs and What’s In the Bible have not paid me for this post. They have, however, provided me with a copy of Volume 10 – The Gospels DVD to review. All reviews and opinions are my own. I value honesty and integrity and you can be assured that all opinions are my own. I will not recommend a product that I do not fully endorse.
We Sold our bedroom set

I just cleared out a big filing cabinet and I have a huge pile of papers to shred now! I’ve downsized our paperwork to one small file box!

I’ve been working to declutter the sunroom (That’s the room that the file cabinet is in)

We had 2 friends over for dinner this month and it was really fun. We need to continue to make time for this!

I researched shipping boxes overseas and it looks like bringing extra baggage is the cheapest way to go.

We’ve been slowly chipping away at our debt. Every little bit helps!! It’s a slow process right now but we’re determined!

I’m hoping to clear out one of the kids closets this week too.

All of our applications have been turned in next up Passport photos and applications

We started a new homeschool curriculum that the kids just love – Apoligia Worldview Curriculum – Who is God we will probably keep using this curriculum even when we are in Ireland and the kids are in school there. It is a wonderful Christian worldview curriculum!

Claire is almost done with Math-U-See curriculum

We have been working on the kids manners (especially table manners)

Things we still need attention:

We’ve been fighting lots of illness lately so our schedule is all messed up! I hope we can get back into a regular schedule

We really need to work on reading, she is still struggling with words that she should know by now

My exercise plans have had a little detour – we returned the treadmill to the owner this weekend so I have to find another way to get some exercise.

I have not been tracking my diet on MyFitness Pal and I really need to get back on track.

We have not had date nights, once we are all healthy again this will be at the top of the list.

I feel like it was a good month. I’m trying to balance homeschooling, work, de-cluttering and planning our move to Ireland It’s tricky to balance all of these but I think I’m finally getting into a good routine.

You can see my entire to-do list and all of my goals for this year below!

Have you joined up with the Insane Goals link-up yet? It’s a fun way to check those items off you to-do list and have accountability to meet your goals each month. Check it out over at Simply Rebekah!

My 2013 Never-Ending To-Do List

Get Travel Documents:

<del>Finish applications</del>

Get passport photos taken

Fill out applications for passports

Apply for visas

Declutter:

Clear out Closets - Kids closet #1, Kids closet #2, Bedroom closet, Office closet, Living room closet,

De-clutter kids toys upstairs, toys downstairs, kids books

Rooms – Dining room - Living room – Sunroom – Kitchen – Kids room- Our Room – Office – <del>Files</del>

Other Areas to De-clutter: Homeschool supplies - Our clothes - Kids clothes – Bathroom closet - Basement storage room - Basement laundry room - Garage - Barn

Sell some stuff -

We are selling almost everything in order to pay off debt before we move. We’ve been selling many things through facebook and Craigslist already and we are just getting started, as you can see our list is pretty insane! As we declutter each room I’ll be continuing to sell anything and everything that we will not be keeping

Sell some big stuff:

<del>Bedroom set</del> - Diningroom Set - Entertainment System - Sunroom furniture - Small table set - Book cases - Kitchen small appliances - The Van - The other van – Washer - Dryer - Oven - Portable Dishwasher - TV’s - DVD player - Wardrobes

Find people to “babysit” or keep these items while we are gone -

Some things are harder to get rid of. These items may be too big for a storage unit (or friends attic) but we’d love for a friend to use them while we are gone.

Freezer

Refrigerator

Picnic Table

Chicken Coop… you know who you are!

The boring but important MUST DO:

Get life insurance

Get a will

Organize important paperwork

Talk to insurance company about auto insurance while overseas

<del>Research shipping boxes overseas</del>

Organizing:

Organize digital files

Back up files regularly and move files we will not use while overseas to an external drive

Back up all photos

Back up photos online

Organize recipes – Go through cookbooks and type up favorite recipes so we have access to them while overseas.

Yuck, Doctor and Dentist Visits:

Schedule final tests with the doctor. I’m supposed to have some tests done and I keep putting them off. I need to do this.

Schedule Dentist appointments for the kids – Again, I keep putting this off. We don’t have dental insurance which makes going to the dentist a bit difficult and expensive. I should probably schedule appointments for Kevin and I too… oh dear!

For Fun!!

Have friends over for dinner once a month.

Go to the zoo with the kids in the spring

Take a day trip to the beach

Go on date nights – we NEED to do this. We have so many things that we have to do, discuss and plan we need some child-free nights together to talk some of these things through. – Plus I just want to spend time with my hubby.

Plan some kind of cheap/free vacation for the summer at the beach - Northern Ireland is wet and rainy and not so summery in the summer, so I want to soak up as much sun as I can this summer!

The House:

Re-paint the bathroom – I painted it a terrible color year ago (a yucky peach color) and it never really matched. I’d like to paint it before we move out so it looks nice for the next tenant.

Touch up paint throughout the house.

Goals for 2013

On top of my super long list of things to do I also want to set some personal goals for the year.

Finances

Pay off Debt! – we hope to be debt free by August 2012

Find ways to bring in more income

Homeschooling:

Finish My Father’s World Curriculum

Go on 2 Field Trips

Finish Math-U-See

Spend more time just reading to the kids

Start daily devotional times at breakfast or lunch

The Children:

Work on their behavior and manners – implement We Choose Virtues more in our daily life.

Schedule monthly dates with the kids – plan one-on-one times with each of them each month.

Stick to a Chore list each week

Sign them up for swimming lessons

Personal:

Start walking on the treadmill daily

Add in other exercise 2-3 times a week

Track diet with MyFitness Pal

Start playing the guitar again

Go to bed earlier

Wake up before 6:30am

Create and stick to a work schedule

Get back into a regular blogging schedule

Brussels Sprouts are a family favorite in our house. I was at Costco a few weeks ago and when I picked up the {giant} bag of sprouts the kids literally cheered…

I got some funny smiles from the other shoppers.

The key to loving them is roasting them.

Simple, quick and so very yummy, here’s how I roast brussel sprouts:

This week my husband and I are packing our bags and heading south. Once we arrive we’ll be with over 100 bloggers at the Beech Retreat at Captiva Island, FL. We are looking forward to a long weekend together in the sun, on the beach. We really need some time together as we prepare to pack up our home and move our family to Northern Ireland in the fall. While I’m sitting in sessions I think you could find Kevin sitting on the beach doing absolutely nothing – he needs and deserves this break!!

I’m thankful for Triple1070, one of my sponsors. Triple1070 is a new biblical personal finance curriculum for home school. I’m thrilled to be working with them. A good personal finance program is hard to find and for homeschoolers many parents just aren’t sure where to start. Triple1070 is a great fit for high school students and helps them learn personal finance basics and also helps to prepare them to handle their finances when they head off to college. You can stop over to Triple1070′s Facebook page and you’ll be notified when their website is live.

Over the next few months I’ll be sharing my struggles with personal finances and why I think Triple1070 can help young adults avoid many of the common money mistakes that I made . I sure wish it was around when I was in high school!!

You’ve heard of the homeschool rut, or maybe I just made that up. Either way I feel like we fell into it.

It didn’t take me long to realized that I need to mix things up and add something new to our homeschooling days. We haven’t been doing many extra projects each week probably because this mama has been SO busy.

I’ve heard of lapbooks for homeschooling before and they looked interesting. I hesitated before to try to make one because they just seemed like tons of work and I worried that they might be too advanced for my 4 & 6 year olds. I decided this week to give it a try and we loved it!

This week we were studying Horses. The lapbook I found online was perfect PLUS it was FREE! I found it on Homeschooling in Heels(I’m not sure if Jessica still blogs there but the links to her homeschool freebies are still available). The kids help to cut out some of the pieces and glue things together. I did most of the writing but in the future I will use this as a great opportunity for Claire to practice her handwriting. We did the whole lapbook in one day but in the future we would spread this out over a few days and spend more time learning about each topic. I would say that this lapbook was a success! Here’s how it turned out:

**Looking for more information about lapbooking? Jimmie shares some great resources on her Lapbooking page at Jimmie’s Collage
