The top 10 finalists chosen by the public have had a makeover and taken part in a photo shoot and will now face the vote for the final time. The winner will be the new face and model of Curvy Kate Lingerie (UK).

The winner will be announced on June 17th.

First introduced in 1959, Barbie is based on a German sex toy called Bild Lilli. Ruth and Elliot Handler, founders of Mattel, found Lilli while shopping in Europe in 1956. Ruth Handler named the Americanized doll after her daughter, Barbara.

Mattel claims that Barbie was intended to be a model of bubbly teenage innocence. She projected every little girl’s dream of the future while teaching females about independence. Barbie represented all that a woman could be and more; she was famous, wealthy, and popular.

300,000 Barbie dolls were sold in 1959 at a price of just $3 each.

“If Barbie were 5 feet, 6 inches tall, she would have a 39-inch Hiddenfeet bust, a 21-inch waist and 33-inch hips.”

Sadly in recent years – around 1997 – Mattel caved in on this issue and widened Barbie’s waist.

Early market research suggested Barbie would never sell because she had big breasts. People believed that little girls wouldn’t like her and parents wouldn’t buy her. As soon as Barbie was introduced to the public, her mature body horrified many women. Mothers said they would not allow their child to play with Barbie because they were wary of her tremendous sex appeal caused by her ample curves. Barbie’s hourglass figure was actually created to make it easy for girls to hold her.

Today there are more than 500 groups related to Barbie on Facebook. Mattel estimates that three Barbie dolls are sold every second. Barbie is the world’s highest-earning doll, with $1.2 billion in annual revenue.

Cosmetics company Stila will be Barbie’s official prestige makeup partner for 2009. It will release a limited edition spring collection of beauty cans and a talking palette, and a larger fall program, to be available at Sephora. The beauty program also includes a licensing deal for a high-end Barbie T3 hair dryer.

Barbie will also get an eight-story shrine in Shanghai, complete with flagship store, spa, restaurant and runway for girls. In Paris, fashion boutique colette will feature a capsule apparel collection by designer Jeremy Scott.

There have been a few blemishes during Barbie’s long career. In 1965 Slumber Party Barbie came complete with a diet book that suggested the best way to loose weight was to not eat! She even came with pink bathroom scale reading 110lb. In 1992 Teen Talk Barbie complained that, “Math class is tough,” prompting an apology from Mattel. Although only about 1.5% of all the dolls sold said the phrase, Mattel agreed to replace these dolls free of charge.

And lets not forget when Teacher Barbie was recalled in 1995 because she wasn’t wearing panties.

Women who feel this way are influenced by society to believe that their big breasts are distasteful or obscene body parts that need to be hidden from sight. A large female breast is the most misunderstood part of the female anatomy.

Bra Alternatives for Big Breasted Girls

• Shirts with pockets over both breasts
  The extra fabric layer conceals large breasts and nipples.

• Camisoles
  Inexpensive and there is a huge selection at many department stores with variety of fabrics and weights, from silk to cotton.  Some have straps similar to those of a bra, with adjustable clasps, so others may assume that a bra is being worn or that there is a bra under the camisole.

• Bra Tops
  Half top, half bra, these comfortable alternatives offer one piece support by using plush inner elastic underbands.  Difficult to find in hiddenfeet sizes but worth searching for.

• Vests and Jackets
  Worn over a blouse at school or work, they can hide the outline and movement of big breasts.

• Bra Cups
  Lots of companies create these adhesive cups that you place on your breasts. They keep the nipple from showing through clothing and some cling to the material of the shirt or dress to limit big breast movement.

• Nipple Tape or Nipple Concealers
  These come in several different shapes and sizes but the primary idea is to compress or blend the nipple to the level of the surrounding tissue, thus making it less distinctive.

Give Your Breasts Free Time

Push-up bras and those with underwire or high side panels have a constricting effect on breast tissue.  Try give your breasts free time from bras every day.  At the very least do not wear a bra while you sleep.  Hiddenfeet girls should aim for at least 12 hours of bralessness (that a word?) per day.

Some large-breasted women may find that they need the support from bras, and that going braless gives them pain. Jogging and other active sports may be painful even for medium-breasted ladies. Obviously going braless would not apply to these situations or girls with extreme hiddenfeet.

Natural breast enlargement pills are advertised on the Internet, television, and in women’s magazines.  Most of the ads focus on women’s insecurities about their breasts.  Women in search of an alternative to breast enlargement surgery are trying these herbal pills without realizing that there is little-to-no evidence to support their effectiveness.

What to watch for:

• Be wary if immediate, effortless or guaranteed results are promised.
• Look for telltale words and phrases such as breakthrough, miracle, secret remedy, exclusive, and clinical studies prove.
• Be cautious of money-back guarantees, for a guarantee is only as good as the company that backs it.
• Do not buy when testimonials or case histories from satisfied users are the only evidence a product works.
• Always check out a product with your doctor, pharmacist or other health professional.

Herbs in Natural Breast Enlargement Pills

Saw Palmetto – Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) is a herb best known to treat urinary symptoms resulting from benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH) in men. It is thought to prevent the binding of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) to androgen receptors and to block the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme, which converts testosterone to the more potent DHT. There is no scientific evidence linking DHT or testosterone levels to ingesting saw palmetto.

Bovine Ovary Extract – There are no published studies of the safety or effectiveness of bovine ovary extract in humans. Websites selling the product lie and say that bovine ovary extract stimulates the pituitary gland resulting in an increase in prolactin and growth hormone levels. If this is true, there are potential risks. Prolactin is a hormone that rises almost ten-fold during pregnancy to stimulate breast development and milk formation. So even if Bovine Ovary Extract did work they way these websites claim, what woman would want to start lactating?

Black Cohosh Root – Some studies suggest that Black Cohosh is similar to the drugs used in hormone replacement therapy but how and what hormones are effected are still a mystery. During most clinical trials experimenting with Black Cohost Root, the subjects showed no change in hormone or metabolic rate.

Fenugreek – Although there is an unsubstantiated claim that women in harems were fed fenugreek seeds to increase their breast size, no studies confirm fenugreek can result in breast enlargement. Fenugreek contains a compound called diosgenin. In laboratories, diosgenin can be converted to estrogen and progesterone but that same conversion doesn’t occur naturally in the body.

Blessed Thistle – The herb blessed thistle is approved by Germany’s Commission E for the treatment of loss of appetite and indigestion. It was used historically by nursing women to increase the flow of milk.  Blessed thistle is believed to stimulate the production of stomach acid, so it can cause mild irritation of the digestive tract lining. It should not be used by people with gastrointestinal reflux disease, ulcers, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Dong Quai – Dong quai is a Chinese herb used primarily to relieve menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, reduce menstrual cramps, and regulate menstrual cycles.  The only published study on dong quai and breast enlargement was a case report of a man who took a combination herbal pill and had temporary breast enlargement. The pill was thought to have been contaminated with synthetic estrogen. There are no other published clinical trials on dong quai for breast enhancement.

Fennel Seed – Fennel has been used for centuries as both food and medicine. It was used traditionally to increase the flow of breast milk in nursing women, enhance libido, and increase menstrual flow. There are no published studies examining the use of fennel seed for breast enhancement in humans.  One study claimed that after consuming fennel seed for 10 days, the weight of breast tissue in female rats increased but no medical lab has been able to successfully duplicate these results.

Hops – Used in the brewing of beer, hops contain a potent phytoestrogen called 8-prenylnaringenin which has 0.2-20% the potency of estradiol, the main human estrogen.  Hops are sedating and are used for anxiety and insomnia but have never been proven to increase breast size in women taking large amounts.

Pueraria mirifica – Also known as Kwao Krua, Pueraria mirifica is a plant found in Thailand and Burma and used by the indigenous hill tribe people.  The plant contains compounds called miroestrol and deoxymiroestrol, which are believed to have estrogen-like effects in the body. Modern studies are inconclusive as to what patients are affected by Pueraria mirifica.

Wild Yam – Wild yam has been found to have a variety of plant-derived estrogens, such as diosgenin. It is promoted to treat menopausal symptoms and relieve premenstrual syndrome (PMS).  Diosgenin can be converted to estrogen and progesterone, but it must be done in a lab because the human body can’t convert it on its own.

Pacific Kelp – This is a great source of minerals from the sea, including iodine, which is essential for proper thyroid function but there is no study that shows how Pacific Kelp is able to increase the size of female breasts.

Damiana Leaf – Damiana is a small shrub high in phytochemicals such as alpha-pinene, beta-carotene, beta-pinene and beta-sisterol.  Supporters of this herb claim that it can treat female hormone imbalances but no available study can back up these claims.

South Park is an Emmy and Peabody award winning animated television series on comedy central created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Every episode is so wrong and yet so right. The following two episodes are devoted entirely to large boobs.

A sling-strapped bra that enhanced the Hollywood icon’s ample bosom was sold for $5,200 by London auction house International Autograph Auctions. The bra is known as a Fling and has spent the last 50 years in a private US collection. The winning bid came from an unidentified bidder calling in from Hong Kong.

Similar to the modern-day Wonderbra, Monroe’s lingerie gave her the lift and separation without the nip and tuck. The slings and double-cup design of the cream-colored bra worked to pull up her breasts. This helped the Hollywood star’s striking appearance achieve vital statistics of an amazing 37-23-36.

But Marilyn Monroe’s voluptuous body was not all God-given.  She boosted her bust to a D cup and beyond by using a heavy duty padded bras often used by burlesque dancers.

Monroe was able to keep her futuristic undergarments under wraps, as the placement of the straps helped keep the bra hidden. Because the top’s open, it gives the illusion that she’s not wearing a bra at all. There is an inner cup which it almost hidden, which would support her chest as normal, but then there is a larger cup about an inch further out. This extra cup helps to give the impression she had a bigger chest.

The heavy-duty bra was also reinforced with extra straps running in a triangle from the center of the bra over the shoulders, similar to how a suspension bridge works. Edged with cream velvet piping, the lace bra is sculpted in the cone style of the 1950s.

Monroe, known for her pouty lips and curvaceous figure, became a household name after starring in classic hits Gentlemen Prefer Blondes in 1953, The Seven Year Itch in 1955 and Some Like It Hot in 1959. Marilyn Monroe, real name Norma Jean Baker, was born in 1926 and her untimely death from a drug overdose caused scandal in 1962. She acted in 30 films throughout her short career and married three times, as well as being rumored to have had an affair with assassinated US president John F Kennedy.

Driving instructor David Austin was accused of inappropriate behavior because he pressed his phone into a 17 year old girl’s cleavage.

David Austin admitted telling one girl: “Your boobs would make a good mobile phone holder”, but he denied touching her large breasts. He claimed he got along well with his alleged busty victim without being sexually interested in her.

We get pictures and emails from young mothers every week at here at Hiddenfeet.  They are nursing their children with large breasts and often have to  experiment with new positions and techniques. Anne Smith writes for Pregnancy.org and offers the following tips to have a more successful breastfeeding experience.

• Find a nursing bra that really fits.
• Experiment with different positions.
• Make sure to support the breast while nursing.
• Pay careful attention to latch on.
• Gently massage your breasts while you are nursing.
• Set up a nursing station.
• Maintain good breast hygiene.

A beauty pageant called Miss Teen Queen UK is distressing parents because the bra sizes of each contestant are published online.  Teen Queen UK had entries from a staggering 12,000 teens this year and claim only finalists’ measurements are published with parents’ consent.  Director Lina Perrini said: “We are very careful.”

There are two issues parents seem concerned about. First, some of the contestant’s parents are claiming that because the website lists the girls breast size, girls with bigger boobs are automatically granted an unfair advantage. And second, that publishing a girls bra size is an example of inappropriate and gratuitous sexualization.

Responses to Teen Queen UK are mixed. The director of the charity Kidscape, Claude Knights says “For me, such things as education are far more important. Certainly, when I was this age, the thought of entering a beauty pageant wouldn’t have entered my mind.” Kidscape claims to have been created to preventing bullying and help with the protecting of children.

A recent finalist, busty 15-year-old Thalia Pearce says her mother Beverley does not mind the fact that her busty statistics are published online.

“Thalia has been modeling since the age of nine and has featured in bra campaigns for companies such as Marks & Spencer.”

She’s reached a level of puberty where her bust size of 32E is considered too big in the normal line of modeling that Thalia has been doing since she was nine. Her mother Beverly says that a pageant like Miss Teen Queen is perfect because it means Thalia can carry on modeling without worrying about her breast size. Girls of all shapes and sizes can enter, and the last thing I want is for her to start worrying she needs to lose weight.

Some Teen Queen parents are not troubled that their daughter’s cup size appears on the website, as this would be the case with any modeling competition or agency they claim. Clothing is about size and choices and modeling needs to reflect that.

“In the wake of all this fuss, I could now take the girls’ vital statistics off the website, but I’m not going to do that.” -Teen Queen Director Lina Perrini

“That would be admitting we’re doing something wrong, which I don’t believe we are. I’ve spoken to all the mothers, too, and said that if they are worried by what has been said this week, and want to remove these details, then they can. But no one has done that. I think the fact that the mothers are all happy to leave these details up there speaks volumes.

“None of the girls under the age of 16 are allowed to wear bikinis in the competition at all, even though many of their parents often ask me if that is possible because that is what the girls would like to do. I also have banned certain lingerie companies – those who specialize in racy underwear for teenagers.”

Lina is also quick to point out that first prize is not reserved for the thinnest and most beautiful girl. They have had one finalist who was born without a hand, and another who is profoundly deaf.

We are researching dedicated servers from ThePlanet, Fdcservers, and Rackspace.  Our hobby of  helping others is getting very expensive.  $129-$200 a month is a lot of money and we don’t want to run annoying ads on our website.

All the girls that run Hiddenfeet are somewhat depressed right now.  We are meeting later this week to brainstorm ideas.

The author of ThePrettyYear.com makes a valid case for her claim that “cup sizes vary based on brand” and that “the American bazoom industry is lazy and greedy.” She does some excellent research and the outcome – though many of us already know this – is quite shocking.

Since hiddenfeet readers are writing to me every day validating these same claims, it seems that us girls need to ignore bra fitters and try on a big variety of bras to find ones that fit.

As many hiddenfeet readers know, I am on a search for a the perfect sports bra. I am playing tennis more often and want to protect myself as much as possible. If brands can’t be trusted with how they size their merchandise I will continue playing virtual tennis in the changing rooms with every bra the store carries.

Jody says your nipples must face the world. Nipples are not shy creatures, so they want to face the world head-on (so to speak). Keeping rule #1 in mind, the natural “fit” for your breasts should be such that your nipples comfortably face forward while the breast is held between the shoulder and elbow. Test where that is by supporting the underside of the breast, pushing up until your nipples act more like superstars than actuaries. That’s where you want your bosom buddies to be when they’re ensconced in your bra.

Lots of good advise including how important it is to say no to a bra that won’t work, regardless of how cute you think it is.

A few years ago tennis star Maria Sharapova took notice when an extremely busty woman entered a pre-Wimbledon tennis party in London on June 21.  The world’s former #2 female tennis player felt embarrassed after being approached by an exceptionally busty party guest, and couldn’t keep her eyes off the five inches cleavage in her face.

In the video below (English with Japanese subs) the Discovery Channel shows how Dr. Tomobechi managed to enlarge a woman’s bust size by 3 centimeters just by getting her to listen to particular ring tone. The ring tone is called RockMelon. Dr. Tomobechi claims that results can be seen if women listen to it 20 times a day for 10 days. The ringtone is a screeching electric guitar jam with sounds of a crying baby layered within.

The basic premise behind Dr. Tomabechi’s ringtone is that a woman’s breasts will enlarge if she is exposed to the sound of a crying baby repeatedly over a long period of time. The brain picks up the subdued sounds of the crying baby and a physical maternal response is created that swells the listeners breasts as if she is readying for childbirth. Some listeners of the ringtone have even reported a darkening of the nipples similar to that of a woman who is pregnant.

Hideto Tomabechi is not a crackpot claim the ringtone supporters. He once helped deprogram members of the notorious Aum Shinrikyo cult, implicated in the Tokyo subway nerve gas attacks of 1995.

Doubters of the RockMelon ringtone claim that fatty tissue in women doesn’t reposition itself as easily as Dr. Tomabechi claims.

“The video clip makes brief mention of other evidence; correspondence from women around the world who wrote to Dr Tomabechi to affirm the effectiveness of the ringtone. Unfortunately this anecdotal evidence carries no weight in science and does not contribute to proving the efficacy of the ringtone.”

Mattel expected sales to reach one and a half million units so the doll was produced and went to market.

Growing Up Skipper is nine inches tall with long reddish blonde hair.  She was marketed as being Two dolls in One.  Turn the left arm she grows a bigger bust line and becomes slightly taller.  Turning the arm back again reverts Skipper to her previous doll.

Included with Skipper are a red headband, red body suit, blue collar, blue scarf, red socks, red flats, white platform shoes, two red, white plaid skirts, one short, one long.

Politically Correct Version: Homely Doll To Improve Self-Image of Young Girls

Mattel also released a slightly older brown haired version known as Growing Up Ginger. Ginger would become a Tall Curvy Teenager with the twist of her arm.  Also sold separately were coloring books for these dolls.

We have seen these dolls sell for over $100 each on ebay. Not a bad return on your investment considering the original price was under $5. Do any Hiddenfeet readers remember this doll? Anyone still have one?

If these dolls were released today, would public reaction be any different? Are dolls that demonstrate breast development harmful to the boys and girls who play with them? Would it matter if the doll grew breasts hiddenfeet sized?

Easily one of the biggest breast-related stories of the year.  Simona Halep is a promising Junior tennis player ranked #258 in the world. She won the Junior French Open tennis tournament in 2008 and she reached the second round of the qualifiers for the Senior French Open in 2009. Simona Halep Turns 18 on September 29.

In May 2009 she received widespread media attention all over the world for expressing her desire to go through breast reduction surgery in order to perform better on the tennis court. Simona Halep claims: “My breasts make me uncomfortable when I play.”

Some Hiddenfeet readers are claiming that Simona isn’t wearing the right bra support on court.  Perhaps this is true.  However it does seem like she is trying to maintain her bounce with some tight thick clothing as seen in these pictures.  Candidate for the shock absorber bra?
