Oh my goodness! How I love the Wisconsin home of interior designer, Richard McGeehan. The house used to be an actual pigpen (seriously) but you would NEVER know it now. The home is filled with lots of little touches that add so much personality. And the surrounding 1,200 acres.... Incredible! Pure beauty and calm.

Well, it's actually above the kitchen. I love this space! In a small home you have to make use of every inch and whoever came up with this idea definitely knows how to use their space. I love all the little windows around the bed too.. plenty of light and they give the space some breathing room. Fabulous!!

Incredible Trailer Home in France!!

The outside looks a lot like an old train/subway car that someone turned into a place to live. But once you step inside, WOW! not at all what you would expect. This regular small trailer looks very spacious inside with all white walls and smartly placed mirrors. Color abounds in the interior making this quite a charming place to live.

Innovative Home Design in Australia!

I just love reading about people thinking outside the box. Simon Laws of Anthill Constructions went way outside the box when he collaborated on the design of this fantastic, eco-friendly home near the Great Barrier Reef in Australia!! The Drew House (owner is Australian artist, Marian Drew) was created to be a homey, camp site like structure for the Drew family. The house is mostly prefabricated and has rainwater tanks, solar hot water and electrical panels AND a community water recycling system! So cool!

BG Restaurant at Bergdorf Goodman!!

I can't remember where I first came across pictures of BG Restaurant but no matter... the place is beautiful so let's focus on that! The restaurant is on the seventh floor of Bergdorf Goodman in New York City and was designed by uber-talented, Kelly Wearstler (one of HF Guy's faves!). I love the color palette and there are Dome Chairs galore! If you've never seen pictures, don't worry, you're about to. If you are ever in New York, make a reservation to eat there!

Have you ever seen those huge, concrete drain pipes and thought "Hey, those would make great hotel rooms!"? No? Well, Andreas Strauss did and he created a "hotel" with them. There are 2 Das Hotel locations; one in Austria and one in Germany. The rooms are incredibly minimal with just a bed, lamp and a skylight. The hotel is also unique in that the cost of a room is "what you want to pay". A different idea indeed.

I have always loved white rooms and white furniture but I am not brave enough to actually have an all white (or mostly white) room or sofa, for that matter. But I do love all the white. It's so bright, so clean and everything goes with it!

Daddy Long Legs Hotel in Cape Town!!

My friend, Kerri, told me about the Daddy Long Legs Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa. It's small (only 13 rooms) and every room is completely different. Owners of the hotel gave various artists complete creative freedom to paint, fill, create the spaces however they wanted to. The result is an eclectic mix of rooms that you will not find in any other hotel. Book a room if you are ever Cape Town bound!

Amazing Bathtub!!

I am not really sure it can be called a bathtub because it's unlike any tub I have EVER seen. I came across this bath area via Pinterest (and they found it via The Messes of Men who got it from French By Design who thanks Architectural Digest, WHEW!) and I just had to know what it was made of. Apparently, it's a giant piece of granite hollowed out and sculpted to be a tub. Not the least expensive tub around but what an exciting, unique and beautiful design.

The unsightly plumbing pipes are hidden in the wooden box! Clever.

"Casa en el Bosque" in Mexico!

This gorgeous house (in Valle de Bravo, Mexico) came across my path via Inhabitat today. "Casa en el Bosque" (designed by Parque Humano Architects) means "House in the Forest" and has some extremely beautiful surroundings complete with mountain views. The house was constructed using locally sourced and sustainable materials and was designed with the surrounding nature in mind. The inside of the home actually has cutouts in the ceiling with pine trees growing through them!!

I saw these cute wall pockets on Apartment Therapy today. They were designed by Tim Karoleff for Ampersand. The pockets are made from cardboard and I really enjoy the hexagonal shape with color on the inside peeking out. Cute, cute!

I love having mirrors in my home. I love how they make spaces seem bigger, how they reflect light and brighten a room. Mirrored furniture has really gained in popularity over the last few years and High Fashion Home has some great pieces. Here are my favorites--

The Redwoods Treehouse in New Zealand!

This has got to be one of the coolest structures ever! The Redwoods Treehouse was originally created as a marketing campaign for Yellow (New Zealand's version of the Yellow Pages) in 2008. The idea was to create this treehouse using only sources from Yellow. The treehouse later became a venue for corporate functions and events. Who wants to go to New Zealand for company team building fun?!?

Old Treasures With New Pleasures!
I always wonder how people use antique pieces in their home. Finally, I have found some photos on Miss Design's blog that really exemplify how one should display these antiques. It's a really great inspiration to be able to look at how someone created something that may have been useless and now it's very useful to them. Looking at the photos below, it is like playing an eye spy antique's game that is extremely entertaining.
Groovy Gal Designs
I love checking out local artists/designers on Etsy. Today I came across Groovy Gal Designs and I LOVE her artwork! She sells her original paintings and other "groovy gifts" through her shop on Etsy, as well as her own website. Her paintings are so colorful and so fun. It's an added bonus that she is a local artist because I do enjoy supporting our locals whenever possible and I think everyone should have at least one original piece of artwork in their home (or office). Picture Stories!
So, I've been eying a trend that I think is the new way of dressing up a wall. Picture stories are a simple idea that can go a long way. It is easy to whip up if you have lots of different frames and photos you've been dying to display. I think it's really fun and keeps your room interesting. It's also a great project that you and and a friend can create. Make it a Challenge and see who can make the best configuration!
High Fashion Home Blog: The Safe House
Originally I heard about The Safe House when a friend of mine sent me an email about The Zombie Proof House (they are the same house)... I must admit, I do have an irrational fear of zombies which is why she would send me an email that is zombie related. (^_^) Anyhoo, the house is incredible and not just for it's anti-zombie potential! It was designed by KWK Promes to offer a feeling of maxiumum security to the residents; it can be completely closed off from its surroundings. When it's open though, it's quite welcoming and beautiful. After looking at KWK's other creations, this house is not their only amazing design; check out their other inspired developments.

High Fashion Home Blog: Million Dollar Decorators Obsession!
I recently caught the new series on Bravo TV called Million Dollar Decorators and I'm obsessed. They have chosen many talented decorators that I'm thrilled to see. One of my favorites is Mary McDonald who, in a past episode, designed an amazing office for Jill Roberts (a boutique owner in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, CA). It was amazing how she combined so many patterns and they all worked beautifully together. I absolutely loved it and now it's given me the inspiration to create a room with different textiles and patterns. Every week I can't wait for Tuesday night at 9 p.m. CST to watch what stunning designs will inspire me next!
