She’s been my secret-fave Kardashian sister for a while now (shhh, don’t tell anyone), but I’m not so sure anymore now that I’ve spotted her wearing two items I am dying to own (one of which–the shoes–I never will, they are sold to the wall, folks): J. Brand super-duper hot Houlihan jeans, and, (I sob as I write this) THE Alexander Wang clogs. How do I now hate you, “Klow,” let me count the ways!

There’s a flashy new fashion site called Styleite, and what better way to launch it with a list that’s sure to stir up controversy and hurt feelings. The “Power Grid” ranks 1,500 key players in the fashion industry and divides them into categories (three of which are featured in the image above). The rankings are based on 10 metrics,  four that are Google-based. Which could explain perhaps why Naomi is ranked over Kate in the model category–in that another beatdown controversy may not count as a modeling gig, but it sure gets a lot of miles in Google news coverage.

There’s an official obsession with matte nail beginning to brew here. It’s to the point that looking at super glossy nails is a little bit of a turn off, which is crazy because there was nothing that I used to love more than a the shine of a fresh mani. And even still, I think a straight matte nail is a bit much. And that’s why I love this design. You get the mystery of the matte with a little added pop from the sparkle to bring it out. Twenty-six-year old artist Sofia Maldonado recently celebrated the installation of her 96-foot mural on 42nd Steet in Times Square. In the video above, Looseworld interviews Maldonado (whose style very much reminds me of Fafi) about the event.  Since its installation, the mural and has come under fire for the way women, who are all black or Latina, are depicted in it. According to an article in the DailyVoice, “The mural showcases women dressed provocatively, wearing long acrylic nails, showy jewelry, bright hair colors, their bodies adorned with tattoos and piercing, and their hands equipped with knuckle braces. While some think her work is beautiful, critics have coined it ‘ghetto’ and are calling for the murals removal, saying it’s degrading to all women.”  According to Sofia’s blog, there’s even a protest planned, which is being publicized by a flier featuring her art. I can see the arguments from both side. Public depiction means so much to those whose status quo is marginalization. But still, art that creates dialogue is good because it gets people thinking and interacting. On another note, I’m putting in my official request to retire the word “ghetto” as a put down (even though I accidentally let it slip just last night!)

The other day we talked about how Reebok is making a comeback on the strength of its toning shoe, Easy Tone. Here we have new colorations via Provider magazine on Reebok’s Freestyle, the mother of all women’s fitness shoes, originally launched in the early ’80s. Will the hotness of the Easy Tone be enough to pour new life into its other designs? It’s too soo too say though these colors are about as strong as I’ve ever seen Reebok come up with for the Freestyle.

There are three colorways: Medusa, Callisto and Athena, which hit retail for fall 2010 . See them all on the next page.

New mom Giselle will be on the April cover of Vogue magazine, as shot by Patrick Demarchelier It’s the “shape” issue, which, given Giselle’s status as a supermodel is naturally going to make people freak out. The idea is that Giselle was shot just six weeks after her little boo-boo, Benjamin Rein, was born. Still, given how little she is in this image, people are going to be ticked. The Brazillian babe says there’s a reason she bounced back so quick: “I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week. I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate, and I gained only 30 pounds.”
