Ingredients

6-8 Tbsp Coconut oil (solid state)

1/4 cup baking soda

1/4 cup arrowroot powder or cornstarch (arrowroot is preferred)

Directions:

Combine equal portions of baking soda & arrowroot powder/cornstarch.

Slowly add coconut oil and work it in with a spoon or hand blender until it maintains a firm but pliable texture. It should be about the same texture as commercial deodorant, solid but able to be applied easily. If it is too wet, add further arrowroot powder/cornstarch to thicken.

You can either scoop this recipe into your old deodorant dispensers or place in a small container with lid and apply with fingers with each use. Makes about 1 cup. This recipe lasts about 3 months for two people with regular daily use.

Combine sugar and hot water and pour into a spray bottle. Allow to cool, add vodka and essential oils if you like. Without the vodka the hairspray lasts for a few days or up to two weeks if stored in the fridge. If you find the mixture is too storng or two week, you might want to adjust the recipe somewhat (3-5 tablespoons sugar)

This works on bathtubs, sinks, tiles and most other surfaces in the bathroom.

Sprinkle salt on the surface you want cleaned. Get a grapefruit, cut it in half, and generously sprinkle salt over the grapefruit. Use the grapefruit to scrub the surface. Rinse the pulp away afterward. A large tub takes a half or two halves of a grapefruit.

This is an extremely effective exfoliating treatment for clear, smooth skin with fewer pores. It helps against acne, but can ge rough so if your acne is causing you sensitive skin you should be careful with this recipe. Use maximum twice a week, my recommendation is to use it once a week or when needed.

1 tbs ascorbic acid (you can find it in the spice section in most larger shops) or a pulverized vitamin c tablet

1 tbs ground nutmeg

castor oil or olive oil

Combine the dry ingredients. Pour the vegetable oil over the powder until it’s covered and mix well. The amount of oil you use is up to you – the more oil you use, the milder the scrub will be.

To use, scrub your face carefully with circular motions. Leave on for up to 10 minutes. If you face starts stinging or if it feels uncomfortable, rinse off sooner. Rinse of in warm water, apply a light vegetable oil if needed.

Inspired by Snowy’s moisture treatment (SMT)

2 tbs conditioner

1 tbs coconut oil

0.5 tbs olive oil

0.5 tbs argan oil

1 tbs honey

1 tbs aloe vera gel or one small aloe vera stem

15 drops of essential oil: patchouli essential oil, sandalwood essential oil, sage essential oil

Honey might lighten hair. If you don’t want lighter hair, run the honey in the microwave for 10 seconds, otherwise use it raw.

Run everything in blender or mix well with a wooden spoon. Apply to wet or dry hair and leave on for at least 30 minutes (the longer the better). Rinse well, you might want to use a bit of shampoo to get all of the oils out.

Apple cider vinegar or other vinegar of your choice

fresh or dried herbs or spices of your choice

If using fresh herbs: Rinse well in water, pat with a kitchen towel and leave to dry until there is no water left.

In a glass jar or bottle, add spices and herbs to the bottom, and pour vinegar over them. Shake the bottle and make sure nothing is sticking out. Leave to stand for 24 hours, then it’s ready to use. You can top up with more vinegar as you use it – if the herbs always are covered with vinegar the bottle will last several months. Alternatively, strain the vinegar after about two weeks. Use in hair rinses, in salad dressing or in any recipe that calls for vinegar.
