Gangavva is one of the popular Indian YouTuber with a subscriber base of more than 1 million. She achieved this popularity through her performances in her son-in-law's YouTube channel "My Village Show". Gangavva's Wiki And Biography

Gangavva's full name is Milkuri Gangavva. Gangavva's real age is not known as there are no record sources of her birth date and year. As per her calculations and inputs from different media sources, Gangavva's age is 61+ years. Gangavva was born in a small village called Kolasa. She even mentioned Kolasa as her birth place in the AV prepared for Bigg Boss 4 show. Many people get confused that she was born in Lambadipally, Telangana. Lambadipally is her husband's home town.

Gangavva is a school dropout and she has studied up to first standard (Class 1) in a government school in Telangana. As she can't read and write, her son-in-law and other team members explain the scene and dialogues to her. She practices them and delivers those dialogues in her own style. As a result, she hasn't delivered the exact script dialogues up to now.

Gangavva's parents died when she was a kid. Her grandparents raised her and performed her marriage with a local boy in their village. She said in a interview that she got married when she was only 5 years old. As this was a child marriage, by the age of 26 years Gangavva gave birth to four children; three daughters and a son. Her husband went to Dubai for 7 years in order to earn money. But he couldn't earn money and then became an alcoholic.
Gangavva had experienced a painful relationship with her husband. She didn't even have amount to clear the hospital dues and bring her husband's dead body. By the time of her husband's death, she was left with his 7 lakhs debt. Her husband and one of her daughters died a few years ago. All her children are married and now she is a grand mother to eight children.

Gangavva's Career

As Gangavva was born and married in a poor family, she worked as a coolie in agricultural lands. She knows major farming works like ploughing, cutting grass, cleaning soil and so on. Gangavva used to roll beedis for additional income.

One of her son-in-laws Srikanth Sriram started a YouTube channel "My Village Show" in 2012. Through this channel, he used to upload videos related to village culture, village life style and rural family issues. Once Shrikant needed an old lady to act in one of his skits named "Village Internet Problems". As he couldn't find any old woman to act in that role, he asked his aunt Gangavva to act in the role. Gangavva accepted and acted in that role. Her role in this video went viral and was a sensation in Telangana. From then onwards, she used to appear in most of the skits in "My Village Show". Due to her craze, she got chances to participate in audio functions, game shows, interviews, TV programs and even in movies.

Mysore is the “City of Lights” due to the way illumination is done. Starting from the iconic and tower-all Mysore Palace to any street or a shop in the central business area, all buildings and arches are illuminated to reflect the rich cultural heritage of the land. This was initiated by the Wadiyars and continued by democratically elected governments and of course the royal family members.

Doddakere Maidan has the maximum lighting models as the area has high traffic.

Mysore Maharaja Palace is probably India’s only illuminated royal structure and is a major tourist attraction. Especially during Dasara, millions of tourists come from far places to see the lit up Mysore Maharaja Palace.

The red coloured light atop Mysore Palace in the central dome is used to synchronise the timing of lights from all the four stations simultaneously.

This red coloured light, earlier, was an indicator of the presence of Maharajas inside the Palace. Fifteen minutes before illumination, the red light is switched on and switched off after 13 minutes. This is an alert to all station workers. Two minutes later when the red light is switched on again, the Palace is illuminated.

Upon my return to San Diego I received the letter (p. 9) from the Baptist church. On May 28,1998, I received word that Gurudeva had chosen Saravan for me as my Hindu last name. On May 31 I filed a petition in San Diego Superior Court to change my name. The court date was set for July 28. I also arranged that day for the name change to be pub-lished on four weekly dates prior to the court date. It was as though my father had waited for me to tell him my news and that he had blessed me, for on July16,1998, my father made his transition quietly in his sleep. My mother had made her transition in 1992. I appeared in court on July 28. The judge questioned the reason for my decision and promptly signed the de-cree. I immediately began the process of having legal papers changed, such as driver's license, social security and all of the many other places and documents that were necessary. I then informed all of my business associates and acquain-tances of my decision. After my thirty-one-day retreat subsequent to my fa-ther's death, I asked Gunideva's blessing to have my name, karana sarinkara. Gurudeva sent a Church member, Sadhu-nathan Nadesan, and we met that day. I explained to him my Hindu beliefs, and he asked we some questions concern-ing these. I received Gurudeva's blessing, and subsequently Sadhu and I talked to the priest of our local mandir. The priest was somewhat surprised, as he had never performed a name-giving ceremony for an adult, but he consulted with his guru, who knew of our beloved Gurudeva, and we pro-vided him with information concerning conversion, indud-ing a copy of the Six Steps to Conversion and a copy of a sample certificate. He agreed to perform the ceremony. On the auspicious day of August 26, 1998, at a most beautiful ceremony performed by our local Hindu priest and looked over and blessed and attended by the Gods and clews and devotees of Gurudeva.

The Pilgrim’s Experience At Kumbh Mela:

The two biggest attractions for pilgrims were taking a holy bath in Ganga and seeking the darshan of sadhus and saints. They were there in the hundreds of thousands, staying at the camps of their respective akharas, monastic orders.

Ashwin Johar, 45, of Delhi summarized the experience for many: “Here at one place hundreds of thousands of people are chanting the name of God at one time. It seems that the whole universe is reverberating with the holy songs. This is something out of this world. The kind of arrangements made for this Kumbh are unimaginable and unprecedented.”

At its peak on the auspicious days of the Royal Baths (Shahi Snan), tens of millions of pilgrims followed along as the various akharas of saints took their baths, starting early in the morning following a traditional order of seniority. All proceeded toward the river in a mood of meditation and as they approached the water danced with joy, shouting “Har Har Gange” and “Har Har Mahadeva” before rushing into the icy water. This is the one time ordinary devotees get a glimpse of the renunciate naga sadhus, here in huge numbers and unclothed except for garlands around their necks. For many pilgrims, darshan of these holy men and women is as great a blessing as the river bath.

Most of the pilgrims are from the rural areas, many coming straight from the bus stands with luggage on their heads. Dressed in colorful dhoti kurtas and saris, they stand in contrast to the urbanites in their jeans, trousers and t-shirts. Whether urban or rural, all move silently toward the river.

After immersion in the icy water, most can be seen performing puja on the river banks, some with the help of priests. In a few places, even small homas, fire ceremonies, are performed. Many arrive and leave on the same day; but before departing the grounds, pilgrims give donations to the beggars and poor people lined up to receive them.

A special class of pilgrims are the kalpvasis, who come here to live for an entire month. One of these, Govind Ram Agarwal, is here with his wife, Santosh. “I will be wearing just one dhoti, and both of us will have food only once a day. Whatever the climatic condition, we have to have our holy bath every day. We spend our time attending Bhagwat Kathas and visiting the different camps of saints.”

Naga Sadhus At Kumbh Mela

Another type of devotee we encountered here can’t really be called pilgrims, for they live in Prayagraj itself. Arun Kumar Pandey, 65, belongs to a group of locals who come every single day, year around, to bathe at the Sangam. He pointed out that the Kumbh area was so large that the kalpvasis and the elderly had trouble negotiating the long distances to reach the confluence area.

The Transient Camps:

Each of the major akharas has its own flag for their main Deity flying high above a temporary temple, where regularly scheduled worship is open to all devotees. The overall mood is one of a festival, with statues and pictures of Gods and Goddesses placed everywhere.

There are thousands of such camps, big and small, where pilgrims can meet and talk with the saints and participate in havan (fire worship), katha (storytelling presentations), lectures and bhajan, which take place all day and into the night. One small camp, Maibada, “home of the mothers,” is for women saints of the Juna Akhara. There are also individual tents with ash-smeared sadhus sitting around their fire pits, performing puja or tapas. If the sadhus appear occupied, pilgrims will just silently take their darshan (blessings) from a distance. One can also sit patiently and wait for an audience.

It is customary in all camps at all times of the day for the saints to offer tea and snacks to the pilgrims. The major camps provide bhandaras, or community meals, three times a day, which are a mainstay for kitchenless devotees. At many places there are arrangements for serving the sadhus separately.

The most magnificent and talked-about camp here was that of Swami Avdheshanand, head of Juna Akhara, which housed thousands of saints and devotees. Despite its nonpermanence, the main tent of the meticulously landscaped camp looked like a huge palace, tastefully decorated and furnished. Another hall held several thousand devotees at a time for kathas, cultural programs and talks. Though far from the main Sangam area, it was a big attraction for hundreds of thousands of pilgrims. It is believed this one camp cost around two million dollars.

Pilgrims also flocked to the camp of Swami Karshney Gurusharanananda Ji Maharaj, another eminent saint of India. Here too, was a prodigious hall where cultural programs went on continually.

Policing the Kumbh Mela:

THERE ARE TWO MAJOR THREATS TO AN EVENT OF THIS KIND: A terrorist attack and a stampede. In the worst-case scenario, the former causes the latter. Involved in security were police from 25 states, plus all three wings of India’s armed forces—army, navy and airforce. The navy provided water rescue training and the air force supplied ambulances and fire-fighting equipment and personnel.

According to Purnendu Singh, additional superintendent of police, the protection against terrorism involved heavy deployment of both police and armed forces on all main roads leading to the Kumbh, beginning 150 kilometers out and continuing inward through five levels of security, with checkpoints and random searches. Anti-sabotage and bomb detection teams conducted daily sweeps, while 460 closed-circuit cameras monitored the Kumbh area. Stampedes were successfully averted by paying careful attention to the flow of pilgrims, with designated entry and exit routes—avoiding the two-way traffic which in the past has led to disasters.

Theft was also a major problem, though obviously a different level of concern than terrorist attacks or stampedes. According to Singh, there are entire communities known for their criminal activity at the Kumbh. One such is the Burwar tribe from Gonda. “They do not come as individuals,” he said. “The complete village comes—men, women and children—with only theft in mind, no religious purpose. They are very organized and immediately have members depart the area with the stolen jewelry or cash, so it is very tough to recover anything. But overall, it is difficult to commit a crime in the area due to the heavy deployment of all kinds of forces here.”

"Aigiri Nandini" stuthi is written by the great Adi Shankaraacharya. He is one of the greatest Gurus of Hinduism. He had written it to praise Durga Mata, the femine power of this universe. Durga Mata is the Mother Goddess of living beings according to Hinduism. Durga Maa deafeted a demon named Mahishasura who had a boon that he can not be killed by a man or a creature. Lord Shiva then made Adi Shakti Durga Mata with the help of Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. Durga Mata was created by transforming energy of the entire universe into femine power. Adishakti came in to this universe with a condition that she will marry Lord Shiva. Therefore Adi Shakti took the form of Parvati Devi in order to marry Lord Shiva. Parvati Devi later took the form of Durga to kill Mahishasura. The battle between Durga Mata and Mahishasura continued for 9 days. On each day, Durga Mata took a new form(avatar) indicating unique energy for each avatar. Hence the fight that took place for nine nights between Durga Mata and Mahishasura is celebrated as Navratri. Finally on the tenth day, Durga Mata killed Mahishasura and hence we celebrate dussehra as a festival indicating victory of good over evil. Durga Mata was named as Mahishasuramardini which literally means killer of the demon Mahishasura. To describe all these characteristics of Durga Mata, Adi Shankaracharya had written the sthuti "Ayi giri Nandini".
