After months of penning hundreds of songs over perfectly picked beats, Derty finally feels like his time has come around again and is set to release his debut street LP, Limitless, this summer.

Derty believes Limitless has the right balance of music and meaning in Hip Hop’s lukewarm climate. His energy, delivery, and flow on Limitless will demand a response from listeners and his true life depictions and storytelling style will connect with them on a deeper level.

Hip Hop Ruckus took time out to chop it up with Derty Den about Limitless.

HHR: What’s going on Den? It’s been a while since we last spoke. What have you been up to since we featured you On da Come Up?
Derty Den: I’ve been in the studio writing heavy for a few people and working on new music, gearing up for my debut LP release, Limitless.

HHR: Nice segue. Tell us a little about your debut street album, Limitless. Why did you give the project its name? What can Hip Hop heads expect to hear?
Derty Den: Well Limitless is The Return of Meyer Lansky. That’s the full name of the street album, I actually named it Limitless because I went outside of the box and experimented with a lot of different sounds and situations; The Return of Meyer Lansky was added because a lot of people compare my business and moves on making certain situations happen to how Meyer Lansky did business.

My last project, the Tony Soprano Mixtape, was more like a concept album. Limitless is more inspired from my feelings regarding the state of Hip Hop. Limitless will be a classic – I promise!

HHR: You’ve dropped several mixtapes in the past couple of years. What motivated you to drop a street album this time around? What will be the major differences from this project as opposed to your mixtapes?
Derty Den: Limitless is probably my most anticipated project so I went in heavy. I took time to hand pick some great production and features, and instead of just going in I took my time and came up with good concepts.

HHR: Talk to us about the production on the project. What producers have you lined up for the project? Tell us a little about them.
Derty Den: First off, I have four joints produced by the big homie Manifest – he is my go-to-guy. Some people have compared our relationship to Snoop and Dre, it’s always good working with him.

Black Jeruz, who has worked with everybody from 50 Cent to Snoop Dogg; Mike Blayz, who work with Big Daddy Kane and other major artist – he nice on them keys; Ricky Racks, who is currently with DJ Holiday and currently working with Gucci Mane; Ensayne Wayne, who did “Shawty” for Plies; WB Three, who did my “Crazy” video; C Dub, who has worked with Cam’ron; and Big Jazz, who works with Mobb Deep – Limitless’ production is crazy!

HHR: I understand you recently made the move from North Carolina to Atlanta. What was your thought process in making the move?
Derty Den: It was a business move. I have my office out in Atlanta; I was in New York for a while now I’m running through the streets in the South from Georgia to Florida.

I’m still in North Carolina two times a week. I have a business out there so I didn’t put too much thought into it – just a business move.

HHR: When will you drop Limitless? When will we hear the some music off the album? Derty Den: The project will definitely drop this summer. I will be doing a listening session in a few weeks so I’ll keep y’all updated on that. There will actually be three: one in Atlanta, one in North Carolina, and one in New York.

Last May, well-respected Orlando DJ 1Hunnit hosted Big Head’s Da Truth mixtape to much fan fare. Dome Check: The Mixtape also dropped in 2010, and last year his highly anticipated mixtape Everybody Luvs Head was released to the streets without disappointment.

The best is on deck for Big Head. The Orlando rapper is definitely On da Come Up.

HHR: Tell us who Big Head?
Big Head: Big Head is a versatile artist from West Orlando, Fla. I am a Family man, a loyal person, with an immeasurable amount of ambition, very passionate about what I do on and off the mic. I take pride in being a provider and I’m highly motivated by being able to create opportunities for other people. Overall to sum me up… I’d just say I’m blessed!

HHR: Do you ever feel like people don’t understand you, and if you could sit with them for 5 minutes what would you let them know?
Big Head: I can be a little stubborn. You either get me or you don’t. I’m me 24-7, 365 so what u see is what you get. I have a strong personality but I usually get along with everyone that’s were we get the slogan from “Everybody Luvs Head” because it’s the truth.

HHR: Describe your music and rap style? Who did you grow up idolizing while growing up in Orlando?
Big Head: My rap style is real versatile, I rep my city to the fullest, but my sound isn’t one-dimensional. I think that comes from consuming so much music at a young age. I’ve listened to it all from old school, east coast, west coast and all the Southern vets. The influences, they all come out in the music in one way or another. As far as an idol – the only person I can associate myself with would be my Moms. She’s a hard worker in every sense. That little lady is the epitome of resilience and I’m the exact same way. If you want to equate that in music maybe Pac as far as his work ethic too; I always admired how much of a studio rat he was with being able to record so much material in such a short amount of time.

HHR: Tell us how it was growing up in Orlando?
Big Head: Growing up in the “O” was just like any other major city in America. You have your street elements and activities that can consume you have your opportunities that can keep you off the streets and out of trouble. I landed in a rough spots here and there but I was fortunate enough to take advantage of the opportunities that came my way to avoid some the harsher consequences that my peers fell victim to.

HHR: Did you play sports in school?
Big Head: I actually didn’t play any sports after middle school. Man when you start getting in trouble and getting labeled, a lot of times those opportunities go away. I kinda hate I missed out on that but it is what it is. We grew up kinda fast. We played in the streets no games though.

HHR: Why do you think there aren’t more sports teams in the city? Surely a football team would seem like a great fit.
Big Head: Sports teams are a hard sell in this city, if it’s not an instant winner people won’t buy into it. People here are so hard on the Magic. A lot of people are still sore about Shaq leaving [laughs]. It’s tough though, almost like Philly. If you’re not winning, you’re in trouble. I’d love a pro football team here though. I think it would be great. Tell Roger Goodell to hit me up and do lunch.

HHR: UCF is in Orlando. Did you ever go to a game to see Michael Jordan’s son Jeffrey play a game?
Big Head: Yeah, outside of my official college team UM (University of Miami, I rep UCF. I haven’t had the opportunity to see Jeffery play in person. I’m frequent to the football games and I’m real close with some of the football alumni. I consider Mike Sims Walker (5 Year NFL vet) like my God brother. His brother and me were in a group before my solo career and I’m real cool with Brandon Marshall as well. I watched them grow into Pros and I’m real proud of them cats.

HHR: Any final thoughts before we part way?
