Anyone who knows me knows I love dogs. Well, not necessarily all dogs…. but I love my dog. My 70-pound German Shorthaired Pointer is like my child, and I pretty much think he’s the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen. So when I ran across this story about a doggy wedding in New York City, complete with custom doggie wedding wear from Kleinfeld Bridal, a peanut butter biscuit wedding cake, and a Justice of the Pooch, I had to share. Yes, indeed, that elaborate and stylish set-up is for a dog wedding.

Pooches Piper and Boo got hitched on Monday as part of a charity event to raise money for the North Shore Animal League, the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, and Waggytail Rescue. Both the bride, a Chihuahua, and the groom, a Chihuahua and Pomerian mix, were adopted from the North Shore Animal League. They tied the knot in Kleinfeld Bridal originals among a star-studded crowd, including “Say Yes To The Dress” stars Randy Feloni and Vera Skenderis.

A Day in the Life: A Not-So-Ordinary Monday

I have to admit, my personal life is really not all that exciting. On event-free weekends, the hubs and I are usually pretty low-key, enjoying a nice dinner out (or in) and just generally relaxing. My evenings during the week are often spent at the gym, attending some sort of wedding networking event, or meeting with clients who can’t meet during regular office hours. It’s a treat when I get to spend quality time with my girlfriends, especially since they are often busier than I am, juggling careers and motherhood. Like I said, my social life has much to be desired. But earlier this week, I got a chance to do something completely out of the norm.

A close friend of mine, who is in the process of publishing a book, received an invitation to a party to celebrate the launch of Stedman Graham’s new book Identity – Your Passport to Success. Yes. That Stedman. And I was more than happy to be her plus one.

During the event, Stedman (I’m pretending that we’re on a first name basis) spoke to the guests a little bit about his book which (according to the book jacket of my autographed copy!) will tell me how to take control of who I am, take control of my life, and achieve lasting success. Sounds good to me!

Although he only spoke for a few minutes, Stedman Graham was certainly dynamic, making me want to read his book from cover to cover. And… I may have been that person that asked to have my picture taken with him. I’m not ashamed.

For someone with a pretty boring social life, I had a pretty exciting Monday night! I’m hoping that my girlfriend is permanently on the cool kids list so we can go to more swanky book signing events. Fingers crossed!

Vendor Video – Low Country Quisine

It’s been way too long since I’ve posted a vendor video, but I can’t think of a better vendor to jump start us back into the series than special event caterer Low Country Quisine. Not only is owner Jolie Oree-Bailey a mover and shaker, growing her catering business tremendously over the last couple years, but she is also no stranger when it comes to being on camera. Her segments on Fox 4′s Good Day Dallas and WFAA’s Good Morning Texas put our little Flip Cam to shame! Check out our interview with Jolie at the Low Country Quisine Culinary Studio in Addison.

When you stop by the Low Country Quisine Culinary Studio, you must have a red velvet cupcake. Trust me on this.

Coming Soon! – Mr. & Mrs. Coulston

I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am for our next Hitched Event! Tammie Trevino and Jonathan Coulston are the next Hitched Events couple to tie the knot, and this wedding is near and dear to my heart. O.k… so all of our events are near and dear to my heart, but this wedding is extra special to me ’cause I’ve been with this couple from day one. I first met with Tammie near the end of December, and at that time, she had only been engaged a few weeks and hadn’t yet started any of her wedding planning. She knew she wanted to get married in May so we dug right in and knocked out the planning in just a few months, finding the perfect venue for the bride’s modern style and awesome vendors to make her vision come to life.

Tammie and Jonathan are tying the knot on Saturday, May 12 at the W Hotel in Dallas, and we’re super excited to be working with some amazing vendors to pull it all together — Dallas Drape and Lighting, Branching Out Floral and Event Design, Liland’s Special Events, Katie Cassidy Photography, Beauti Studio, Binzario Couture Gowns, Art by Ellie and LeForce Entertainment.

I’m so excited for their big day to get here, but I’m also so sad for it to be over! Tammie’s no-nonsense, decisive personality is a wedding planner’s dream come true!

100th Anniversary of Highland Park Soda Fountain

We’re not all about weddings here at Hitched Events. Sure, that’s the majority of what we do, but every now and then we get the privilege of working with corporate clients to pull together their special celebrations. Yesterday, we coordinated the 100th Anniversary Party for Dallas landmark Highland Park Soda Fountain (formerly Highland Park Pharmacy). Known for its signature grilled cheese sandwiches, milkshakes and ice cream freezes, Highland Park Soda Fountain has been a family favorite for generations. It’s crazy to think that this small little soda shop has been in Dallas since 1912!

When the owners of Highland Park Soda Fountain approached Hitched Events to plan the 100th anniversary party, we knew that the small soda fountain wouldn’t accommodate the number of invited guests and neighborhood patrons that would want to celebrate the milestone. We immediately went to work with the City of Dallas to get special approval for a street closure so that a tent could be erected just outside the shop on Travis Street. After a few special permits, off-duty police officers, barricades, generators, and specialty signage (not to mention portable bathrooms!), we had ourselves a party!

Approximately 350 guests enjoyed the Soda Fountain’s signature items, including pimento cheese, chicken salad, egg salad, and of course grilled cheese sandwiches, milk shakes and freezes, while enjoying music and trivia about Dallas and the soda fountain’s rich history. Plus, it was only fitting to have Dallas’ oldest bakery, Stein’s Bakery, provide the cake which featured the company’s 100th Anniversary logo.

If you haven’t been to the Highland Park Old-Fashioned Soda Fountain, this is a great week to try it out as they will be having special promotions to celebrate their anniversary. Plus, the spin wheel from yesterday’s party will be on hand at the shop, and patrons can spin the wheel to win a 100th Anniversary commemorative item, such as a t-shirt, coffee mug or poster.

A Sneak Peek of Sole & Shaun’s Fort Worth Wedding

Last weekend, Hitched Events welcomed another couple into newlywed status. Sole and Shaun tied the knot at Polytechnic United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, followed by a lively reception at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel. We’ll share the professional photos with you as soon as we get them, but for now, here’s a sneak peek of a couple of photos snapped from my trusty iPhone.

The couple chose orange and blue for their wedding colors, and our super crafty bride DIY’d a ton of details for us to pull together. Yes indeed, those are butterflies on each champagne flute!

This was certainly a dancing crowd with balloons, party hats and masks accompanying the late night cumbia. We may have jumped in and shook our bon bons for a few songs…

I think the best part of Sole and Shaun’s wedding was the true blending of families and cultures. With a mix of Latin music (including mariachis during cocktail hour), country and hip hop, the reception had a little bit of something for everyone. So much so that we hear the after party continued into the wee hours of the morning!

Coming Soon! – Mr. and Mrs. Freeman

This weekend the Hitched Events team will be in Fort Worth and Arlington to help another one of our awesome couples tie the knot. Sole Bazan and Shaun Freeman are getting married this Saturday at the Polytechnic United Methodist Church on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, followed by a reception at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel.

Our gorgeous bride Sole has spent countless hours on DIY projects to personalize their wedding celebration, and we can’t wait to help it all come together! And with mariachis, a DJ, photo booth, and dancing into the wee hours, it’s sure to be a party to remember! We’ll certainly snap a few pics to share next week, but in the meantime, check out a few of their engagement photos taken by Evan Godwin of Evan Godwin Photography.

A Sneak Peek of Ashley & Nathan’s Wedding at Old Red

This weekend, we were at the Old Red Museum in downtown Dallas for Ashley and Nathan’s wedding and reception. This wedding was equal parts fun (with a ton of folks breakin’ it down on the dance floor and a grand exit with glowsticks) and sentimental (with awesome toasts by the Best Man, Maid of Honor and the groom).

Ashley and Nathan’s wedding had some surprises as well, and as the wedding planners, we were the keeper of several secrets — the custom gobo that we arranged from Dallas Drape and Lighting was a surprise for the couple from the Mother of the Bride, the first dance song being sung live by country musician Michael Myers was a surprise the bride and groom kept from their families and guests, and the 1963 Rolls Royce get-away car from Blue Diamond Limousines was a surprise from the groom for the bride.

Ashley had a ton of DIY details that were awesome, and the couple’s turquoise, yellow and black color scheme came together perfectly. We will definitely share the professional photos from Roe & White Photography as soon as we get them, but for now, here’s a sneak peek from my iPhone. I know… it totally does not do it justice!

It’s My Party – Reality Television Casting

As a small business owner, I get lots of random phone calls — SEO companies that want to boost Hitched Events to the top of a Google search, companies that want to create a Google ad campaign for me, students looking for internships or employment, and the list goes on and on. But yesterday I got a call that was certainly out of the ordinary.

A Los Angeles entertainment company contacted Hitched Events asking if we had any upcoming Sweet 16, quinceañeras, bar mitzvahs, or other “coming of age” celebrations that might be a good fit for reality television. Apparently a “major cable network” is developing a show which will document a family preparing for such an event called “It’s My Party.” With only weddings and corporate events on the books for Hitched Events in 2012, I didn’t have any events that might be a good fit, but I certainly have no problem spreading the word! Check it out…

A Hitched Event: Camy & Reggie’s Engagement Photos

Wedding season is certainly upon us, and I’ve been a wee bit crazy this month. Posting on the Hitched Events blog has totally taken a backseat to other business stuff, but when one of my brides sent me a link to her engagement pictures, I knew I had to get these up on the blog pronto! I absolutely LOVE these! Not only is this couple completely gorgeous (and stylish!), they are as sweet as they come. The super talented husband and wife duo at Chavvon & Larissa Photography rocked it out with this engagement session of my clients Camy and Reggie… check it out!

I love how they have some edgier photos in a bar, but also have some softer photos in their Sunday best. Regardless of what these two have on, they are drop-dead gorgeous, don’t ya think?

Camy and Reggie are getting married on Saturday, September 22 at Noah’s in Las Colinas. After seeing these images from Chavvon & Larissa, I am even more excited for Camy and Reggie’s big day! I have no doubt that Camy will be an absolutely stunning bride and Reggie will be an equally handsome groom. Can’t wait!
