"It embraces me and gives me [a] pretty, defined waist," Michele Kobke told Sky News recently. "Some people find my shape really attractive."

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average waist size for a 20-something woman in the United States is 37.5 inches, which means that Kobke's original 25-inch waist was pretty tiny to begin with. But going from 25 inches to 16 inches isn't enough, she says. While she's happy that "my movements are more feminine," she'd like her waist to be even smaller -- just 14 inches, she hopes, to beat her idol, Cathie Jung. Jung, whose waist is a crazy-small 15 inches in circumference, currently holds the Guinness Book of World Record's title for having the smallest waist on a living person.

The smallest waist ever recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records belonged to the late Ethel Granger, who wore corsets to cinch herself down to just 13 inches. Her extreme look inspired an issue of Vogue Italia. But corsets aren't just a fashion statement: Actress Jessica Alba recently revealed that she wore not one, but two corsets day and night for three months after the birth of her youngest child, she was so desperate to get back to her pre-baby weight.

"It was sweaty, but it was worth it," Alba admitted in April. "It was brutal; it's not for everyone."

While corsets do force you into a traditionally feminine silhouette, they can also wreak havoc on your body. After three years of spending virtually every moment in a corset (she wore it even while sleeping!), Kobke's back and stomach muscles are so weak that she has trouble standing up if she's not wearing one. She walks gingerly, as if her balance is off, and when she removes her corset, it leaves deep grooves and welts on her skin. In her YouTube videos, she has to pause and struggle to take deep breaths while talking to the camera. She also can't eat a normal-size meal, because the corset constricts her stomach; instead, she eats as many as 10 tiny meals each day. Her doctor has warned that she's harming herself -- during a recent visit, an ultrasound revealed that her stomach had been squished into an unnatural position -- but she doesn't believe him.

"I guess it would be painful if there were problems," she told Sky News, reasoning that she's not in pain so her health must be fine. "My life hasn't changed, just slowed down a little," she said.

11 Jun - "Switch" scenes depicting Taiwanese actress Lin Chi-ling have been removed from the Taiwanese version of the film for being too 'raunchy', reports Taiwanese media.

It was revealed that the deleted scenes included Lin's raunchy bedroom scene and some other scenes featuring the actress donning a nurse, flight attendant, nun and call girl outfits. As such, Taiwanese moviegoers will get 40 minutes less compared to other countries.

When the Taiwanese distributor was asked to address this issue, a spokesman from the corporation defended the move by saying that the cuts made were "to improve the flow of the film" and "to make the film look more exciting".

Apart from that, Lin Chi-ling's child-like voice in the film will also be dubbed as decided by the movie distributor in Taiwan. No reason has been given by the spokesman as of yet.

"Switch", featuring Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau, Tong Dawei, Zhang Jingchu and Lin Chi-ling, will open in Singaporean cinemas on 13 June.

Naked photos of Singapore FHM Models 2012 winner Jamie Ang, many with sexually suggestive poses, are going viral on the Net.

Ang is seen fully naked and sexually provocative in the leaked pictures, even posing with a peeled banana in some.

At least 50 nude photos of the former Miss Commonwealth Singapore have been exposed on several local online forums and blogs since early April, but the pictures were quickly taken down as some of sites claimed they were threatened by legal action.

However, the photos continued to be circulated through private messaging on online forums.

Then, early this month, the 22-year-old’s pictures started to gain attention from netizens again. One of the sites that host nude photos of Ang said it recently received the bulk of the leaked photos of Ang. It is unclear who is the source of the leak, but a post on one of the forums mentioned that the images were obtained from a local adult forum.

Several of the photos appear to be of a personal nature as they were grainy and possibly taken on a smartphone. The rest appear to be taken professionally with the photographer's name on the corner of the images.

Responding to media queries from Yahoo! Singapore, a FHM Singapore spokesperson confirmed that Ang was the winner of FHM Models 2012 and as far as the publication knows, “the nude photos were taken prior to her joining the competition".

Soy Sauce Overdose Sends Man into Coma

A young man who drank a quart of soy sauce went into a coma and nearly died from an excess of salt in his body, according to a recent case report.

The 19-year-old, who drank the soy sauce after being dared by friends, is the first person known to have deliberately overdosed on such a high amount of salt and survived with no lasting neurological problems, according to the doctors in Virginia who reported his case. The case report was published online June 4 in the Journal of Emergency Medicine.

Too much salt in the blood, a condition called hypernatremia, is usually seen in people with psychiatric conditions who develop a strong appetite for the condiment, said Dr. David J. Carlberg, who treated the young man and works as an emergency medicine physician at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Hypernatremia is dangerous because it causes the brain to lose water. When there is too much saltin the bloodstream, water moves out of the body tissues and into the blood by the process of osmosis, to try to equalize the salt concentration between the two. As water the leaves the brain, the organ can shrink and bleed, Carlberg said.

After the man drank the soy sauce, he began twitching and having seizures, and the friends took him to an emergency room. That hospital administered anti-seizure medication, and he was alreadyin a coma when he was taken to the hospital where Carlberg was working, the University of Virginia Medical Center, nearly four hours after the event.

"He didn't respond to any of the stimuli that we gave him," Carlberg said. "He had some clonus, which is just elevated reflexes. It's a sign that basically the nervous system wasn't working very well."

The team immediately began flushing the salt out of his system by administering a solution of water and the sugar dextrose through a nasal tube. When they placed the tube, streaks of brown material came out. Within a half hour, they pumped 1.5 gallons (6 liters) of sugar water into the man's body.

The man's sodium levels returned to normal after about five hours. He remained in a coma for three days, but woke up on his own.

For several days afterward, a part of his brain called the hippocampus showed residual effects from the seizures. But a month after the event, he showed no sign of the overdose: He was back at college, and doing well on his exams, doctors reported.

A typical quart of soy sauce has more than 0.35 pounds (0.16 kilograms) of salt, the researchers said.

Most cases of sodium overdose happen more gradually. In the 1960s and 1970s, doctors actually gave salt to patients suffering from poisoning, to initiate vomiting, until they realized its harmful effects.

Though it's rare in the United States, consuming excess salt was a traditional method for suicide in ancient China, according to the case report.

Carlberg said he believes the young man survived because the team got his sodium levels down so quickly.

"We were more aggressive than had been reported before in terms of bringing his sodium back down to a safer range," Carlberg told LiveScience. Reducing sodium levels more slowly has had poor or mixed results in the past, he said.
