Who wrote each song?

Tally Hall remains an eclectic songwriting team because they have four primary songwriters that tend to write their songs on their own and bring them to the band to work on and enhance. They try to keep a good balance and equal share of songs by each songwriter on their albums.

The writer of each song was consistently written on the back cover of every album/EP until Good & Evil. The Tally Hallmanac is now the best place to find this information. http://www.hiddeninthesand.com/wiki/

I heard that Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum was originally released in 2005, not 2006. How can I tell if my copy is a first printing or not?

For the first printing, due to a mistake at the printer's, the Zubin-page in the lyric sheets was colored purple instead of blue. Also, the strip on the side of the CD case had a typographical error, and reads "Marvin's Marvelous Mechancial Museum" as opposed to "Mechanical". Both of these errors were fixed for the 2006 re-release.

If your CD case or lyric sheets are a bit out of whack, you've got yourself a first printing!
More information: CLICK HERE

Of course, if you have the 2008 re-re-issue of MMMM, then you've got a completely updated cover and booklet. You can tell the differences here: http://www.hiddeninthesand.com/wiki/index.php?title=Marvin%27s_Marvelous_Mechanical_Museum_(Album)

Are Tally Hall signed to a major record label?

No. Tally Hall is signed to Quack! Media, an indie label out of Ann Arbor, MI.

Originally, Quack! was a media company without a record label. The music label portion of the company was actually created for Tally Hall back in 2005 and issued the LP "Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum." In 2007, Tally Hall signed with Atlantic Records who re-issued MMMM, financed Tally Hall's Internet Show and the LP "Good & Evil." Atlantic decided not to release the LP, however, and the band amicably split with them in 2011 so they could re-sign with Quack! and release Good & Evil to the eager fans of Tally Hall.

Tally Hall is managed by Stiletto Entertainment and booking is done through Red Ryder Entertainment.

From approximately 2005 to 2010, the band was managed by The Hornblow Group (They Might Be Giants, OK Go, Violent Femmes).

What is wonky? What is fabloo?

Wonky, as defined by Tally Hall, is "unusual, humorous, amusingly diverse... funky, demented, bozotic" and has also been described as "absurd yet sensical tri-harmonious poppycock" by the Ann Arbor Newspaper.

In 2006 the band decided to drop "wonky" as how they describe their music. In an interview with MTV, they explained how it became too restrictive. "We used to call ourselves a wonky rock band. But then I think people tried to characterize exactly what 'wonkiness' was, and we didn't want that to happen, so we just started to call ourselves a rock band," guitarist/ sometimes-frontman Rob Cantor laughed, attempting to nail down the group's lighthearted, theatrical, piano-and-guitar-pop sound. "So, we made up another word to describe us: fabloo. We're a 'fabloo' rock band now, so we're gonna ride this wave out for a while, and we'll see."

Really, though... neither term is used by the band anymore. They simply describe their music as "good."
