Watch: Beyonce- Sweet Dreams

Beyonce’s new video for “Sweet Dreams” has finally hit the net for good. For her “Ego” video I said that she could’ve done a lot more for it rather than just another dance video…but here she goes again with another dance video. BUT…this time instead of just having her and two backup dancers she does it on a bigger scale. I really love the song since it has that Vanity 6 bad assness to it and would’ve prefered her to do something more retro, but I gotta give her credit- this is HOT! She has some new dance moves that are sure to be seen on dance floors everywhere. I have a feeling that this will be bigger than “Ego” because it is more upbeat and it makes for a great summer track. Bey has her share of stans and haters…but after seeing her in concert again for Essence it only further reiterated that she truly is the hardest working woman in showbiz.

What do you guys think of the video? Are you tired of the dance videos or do you think it is fitting for this particular video?

Full Album Preview: Maxwell- Black Summers Night

Maxwell is still on my shit list for the stunt he pulled in New Orleans at the Essence Festival so I’m not going to review his album at this point. Watch: Pleasure P - Under

Pleasure P has a new video for his song “Under”. I’m not a terribly big fan of the song but I can see it’s appeal. When I heard that Tia Mowry(who I absolutely love) was going to be in the video I figured that there would actually be a plot…but as it turns out I was wrong. She serves as little more than a cute prop in a few scenes. Overall the video is ok…but one scene in particular was really strange. I know the song is about going under and when he went under the bed it made sense if you think of it in terms of a water bed…BUT…then in another scene they show a chick get up in a bathing suit, walk, then dive into the grass- what the f*&k? They couldn’t find a pool? It looked totally retarded and it looked even more stupid when she came out the ground and walked back to her chair. Just bizarre. Anyway…Pleasure P seems to have quite a few fans so I’m sure those folks will like this.

What do you guys think of the video? Isn’t it hard to believe that such a normal looking/sounding guy like Pleasure P was once in the ridiculous group Pretty Ricky?

Watch: Joe- Magic

Joe has a new song called “Magic” and a new video to go with it. First let me say that I had the pleasure of seeing Joe perform this song at the Essence Festival. He put on a free concert for the convention center visitors and he was stellar. This song sounds 10 times more sexy live but I’m still totally digging the recorded version. Anyway…I was expecting something more along the lines of “More and More” but I think going the route he choose with showcasing (for lack of a better term) different women is a smarter choice. This video has the ingredients to get guy’s attentions without being so sleazy that it turns women off. I’m a huge fan of Joe so I hope that this video gets him the pub he needs and his album does well when it comes out. If I’m not mistaken it hits stores next Tuesday so go cop that!

What do you guys think of the new video? Are you excited for some new music from Joe? Doesn’t he deserve more credit for being one of the most consistent R&B male artists out there even after more than a decade?

Watch: Day 26- Truth Is A Lie

Day 26has a new video for their song “Truth Is A Lie”. The song is cool and I’m shocked to see these guys get a 4th single so soon after “Girlfriend” was released. I’m glad they got out the soundstage and did something a little more gritty. Still there is nothing overwhelming about the video but I suspect that their fans will like it.

Michael Jackson Memorial Serice Coverage

Today is the day that the world will pay its last respects to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. There will be a public memorial service at Staples Center and then he will be buried (I believe at Forest Lawn Cemetery). I’ve compiled some useful information if you are interested in knowing where you can watch the events on tv and online.

TV coverage info from EW.com:

Broadcast and cable networks are beginning to sort out their plans for the July 7 public memorial for Michael Jackson, according to the Associated Press. Although all the video will come via the same pool feed from the Los Angeles Staples Center, ABC, CNN, HLN (formally Headline News), MSNBC, E!, CNN en Espanol and CNN International all plan to broadcast the memorial live, starting at 10 a.m. (PDT). Several networks are sending their top anchors for the event, including Charles Gibson for ABC and Anderson Cooper for CNN. Katie Couric will cover the event from the Staples Center for CBS, but the network hasn’t released how it intends to broadcast the memorial. NBC, meanwhile, is not planning live coverage, instead choosing to air a one-hour highlight special in prime-time. Fox News has not announced its plans.

Here is some info on who is expected to participate in the memorial service:

The Staples event is expected to feature singers Mariah Carey, Usher and Stevie Wonder. Also participating will be basketball stars Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson; singers Jennifer Hudson, John Mayer and Smokey Robinson; and activists Martin Luther King III and the Rev. Al Sharpton, according to an announcement released on behalf of the Jackson family

So there you have it folks. Hopefully for those of you who are interested you will manage to catch some of the coverage and get a front row seat to this historical day. Long live the King and Rest in Peace Michael Jackson.

Hey ya’ll! I’m back from my vacation in New Orleans checking out the 15th Annual Essence Music Festival. Things were so hectic before I left I didn’t get the chance to make an announcement that I would be gone. Watch: Drake- Best I Ever Had

Drake has released his new video for his song “Best I Ever Had”. Hmmm…ok I didn’t expect him to go the route of making a video that has absolutely nothing to do with the lyrics of the song, but perhaps he was trying to be tongue in cheek with the video. I’ll admit there were parts that made me chuckle a little bit, but overall I wasn’t terribly impressed. I’m sure he will disappoint a lot of fans out there since Black women got practically no love in this video. Clearly there was some sort of paper brown bag test going when casting for the sexy basketball players but no problem with dark skinned chicks when it came to casting the freakshow opposing team players. Sigh…oh well it’s a rap video so I’ll save my chagrin for something of real importance.

Watch: LeToya Luckett- She Ain’t Got

LeToya Luckett has a new video for her song “She Ain’t Got”. I’m really digging the song and I like that LeToya is switching her style up. She manages to go more Pop while keeping some R&B edge. She looks great and her voice has improved by a mile since her first album so I think this will win her some fans. I have to give her kudos for being one of the few artists who clearly put work into improving her voice , because there are so many singers who are content with having no talent. This song/video reminds me of Teairra Mari’s “Cause A Scene” but with a more Pop twist. I thought Teairra’s song had the potential to catch on more than it did so I hope LeToya has better luck with “She Ain’t Got”.

Watch: Kanye West - Street Lights

There is a new video for Kanye West’s “Street Lights”. As usual with Kanye this video has creative graphics…but this time the video lacks the intrigue. The video and song are pretty monotonous the entire way through, so it’s not enough to keep your attention from beginning to end. I love Kanye but this video did nothing for me.
