In fact, this job is taken on by car hobbyists alone. If you want to start on this job, you can very well do so, regardless if you consider yourself a hobbyist or not. You can do one part of the job slowly until you have successfully completed the whole project. It is going to take quite sometime. But if you start now, you will finish the job eventually.

You don't need to buy an old car from the garage to start on this new hobby. You can start with any worn-out car sitting in your own barn, if you have one. There's no need to look for a...

So, you have decided that you will give designing a try - where to next?

The best place to start is with the type of designs you are looking for but can never find. Do you want to stitch landscapes, animals or names - just as I do. This is the most important step as you will soon find it all a little boring if you are creating something you just don't want to stitch in the first place!

Once you have an idea a pencil and some paper are a great help. Sketch what you want your design to look like - even a rough drawing is good. I am no artist but find that these initial drawings help...

How Does Knitting Differ From Crochet?

Knitting is a craft. Since many generations back, this craft is practiced home. Actually knitting is part of the act of preparing a nice fabric, with the help of thread like yarn and wool. The mechanics of knitting are simple, like that of crochet in which loops or stitches have to be pulled in between each other in specific ways so as to result in a fabric print.

Knitting actually differs from crochet in a couple of ways. Generally in the case of crochet, multiple stitches are active, meaning that they all are in use at the same time. These active stitches are used to hold the fabric being...

Learn to Crochet and Knit - Keys to Success from an Easily Distracted Student

I decided to learn to crochet in college. Crazy way for a college student to spend free time? Definitely. I assure you that I was not as big a loser as it might make me sound though. One night, for some strange reason, I found myself on a creative kick. My mom had taught me to cross-stitch as a child but that wouldn't do anymore. I was ready for something new and exciting.

I ended up at Wal-mart late at night (best time to go for a college student!) browsing through the craft aisles and inevitably drawn to all the cool yarns. Ok, so what to do with them? Knitting or crocheting? At the time,...

Crochet has not been this popular for a very long time. But when we use the word crochet, what do we actually mean? The Encarta English Dictionary states that crochet is: 'a form of needlework used to make clothes or decorative items from wool or thread, by looping it through itself with a special hooked needle crochet hook.' When I claim they are excessive, I mean that to the truest sense. I have one of those plugs about very 2.5 feet throughout the house and one about every 7 inches in my kitchen. But Alexander worked out what was wrong. Interestingly enough the horse was afraid of its own shadow.

So he turned the horse's head towards the sun so that he could not see the shadow on the ground. Stroking him gently, he swung himself onto his back and rode round to the applause of the whole court. From that time on, Bucephalus would always be...

How I Got Started In Pen Turning - Part Four

...where would I start?

There was a lot to think about as I drove home. I have never tried this kind of thing before.

What tools would I need? how much would it COST? could I be successful?

Do I have the stick-to-it-iveness to progress beyond the challenges and obstacles?

I had no idea where to start but as the next few days passed, I reviewed the materials I had picked up at the show. I had a brochure for the Pikes Peak Woodturners Club (http://ppwoodturners.org/) so I started there. As I continued to do my research on the internet I found two yahoo...

Where the weekdays come from?

Ancient Babylonians and Assyrians thought that some strange magic must lie behind the planets. They gave names to each on of the wondering stars and observed them constantly, convinced that they were powerful beings whose positions influenced the destinies of men, and by studying them they would be able to predict the future. This belief in the stars has a Greek name: astrology.

Some planets were believed to bring good luck, others misfortune: Mars meant war and Venus, love. To each of the five planets to them they dedicated a day, and with the sun and the...

The main reason why we are straggling to fall asleep after we go to bed lies in difficulties to let go and forget about our problems at night.
Psychologists suggest a few simple tricks to break free from the intrusive thoughts:

How to make a perfect steak

Here is another tip on how to make s perfect steak I came across recently.

Use a large thick-bottomed pan and the real secret is to make sure it's very hot. Steaks aren't usually very thick, so if the pan loses heat you won't get that nice caramelisation you're looking for when the natural sugars in the meat are released.

With a big, hot pan, the meat will caramelise more easily. Two or two and half minutes each side should give you that perfect medium rare steak.

A little tip is, when you start to see the blood pierce the steak, that's medium to medium rare. Then once cooked, if...

Recently I came across this perfect roast beef secret, which I want share with you all.

Here is classic tried-and-true method:
Do not cook immediately after removing from the frig, but instead bring the roast to room temperature (failing to do so is the single most common reason that the interior is raw while the outer layers are almost well done).
Season liberally with salt and pepper. Preheat the oven to a slow-moderate range, like 275 degrees.

Heat a heavy pan on the stove top over fairly high heat; add some olive oil (you can add a little butter if you prefer, but be careful to...

It might sound boring to some but you can (if you only want to) make it your lifestyle. As you might notice from my previous posts, I am a healthy lifestyle freak and my favourite thing to do is Tai Chi. I believe I have never been so fit and stretched in my life before (and I was a dancer for many years)

Or, are we?
To start with, our wellbeing depends a lot on our diet. The number one rule not only for this spring but for any spring and other seasons is eating breakfast before leaving the house in the morning.
Thinking Outside The Box - The How To

When innovators talk about thinking outside the box, they mean coming up with creative ways to solve problems - new ways to look at things. How do they do it? How can you do it too? We first have to ask what the "box" is. Then we can look at how to get outside of it.

The "box" is the normal way of doing things and looking at things. It is the assumptions that almost everyone involved is making. The best way to start thinking out of the box then, is to identify and challenge all the assumptions that make up thinking inside the box.

The program focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep torso muscles. Pilates...

Lemon is psychology.

Believe it or not!

Scientists have discovered that lemon juice makes our mouth to water (OK this is barely a discovery, I know). But they discovered that you can find out if you are an Introvert or Extravert only by running a simple experiment.

By inserting to your mouth just a drop of lemon juice, you can see what kind of person you are. If you mouth is not watering at all or just slightly you are an Extravert. But if your mouth is watering a lot you are definitely an Introvert. Basically the more you water from one drop of lemon juice the more reserved and less outgoing person you are....

Play Hard

Sports give character. I have always believed that to be true. There is no other field which can bring a team together, a community together and an individual together with his soul. The moments of victory or loss may be sort lived but the memory of character depicted by the individuals who play with passion remains engraved as the spirit of mankind. The urge to win, the will battle fatigue, the resolution to combat acute pain is the sign of a true sportsman. Each game has a way of celebrating victory either, individual or team. We have a wild show of exuberance when a goal is scored in...

Mountains of Money

I was driving the Coquilhalla Highway early 2004 and I snapped a picture with my cell phone, of a mountain. As I passed this mountain I struggled to keep my hand steady and if it were not for my excellent driving skills I most likeley would have drivin straight down the cliff into the river, and never would have seen what was comming in my life. That picture was of a mountain that was all over TV because of the seasons high number of avalanches.... and I sold that fuzzy, very grainy photo for a substantial amount of money.... for a photo respectivley. So I started thinking, what if I made...

Going For The Clearance

I am getting big on playing baseball these days. I used to watch a lot of baseball on TV but never really got into playing in the field. Just recently I met up with my high school chum John who teaches the kids around the locality to play ball, he is a junior league coach basically. He kinda got me interested in coming over to the field to help him out with the practice session whenever I had the time, the reasons he gave were that it would be fun and I would be getting some exercise ( I ve been gaining a few tyres to be frank).

I got around the corner sports shop to get myself one of the...

The story of building my first puppet. (an insight on what goes into building and what I learned from this experience)

When I decided to build my first puppet, I was like most people; clueless. Granted, I knew the basics because I purchased a book about puppet building from a company who builds them. (For those curious, this book I think cost about $20.) However, I didn't have the book with me here in Missouri and I had to run off what I did know and hope that my skills at sculpture problem solving would help me. This, I wouldn't say, was one error I made, as far as my process went, but it did add up to doing some things a little too free hand.

Now, I don't need to explain that a concept sketch was made....

The Order of Smile.

The story of polish children nominating adults to become The Knight of 'The Order of Smile'.

The idea of 'The Order of Smile', was born when well know children's poet - Wanda Chotomska spoke to a boy undergoing the treatment in one of polish hospitals. He wanted to give an order to one of his puppets! The poet asked why not to give a medal to other puppets too, as they were making the life of ill children happier. It was year 1967.
Very soon it was realized kids can give 'The Order of Smile' to their adult friends. Friends who make them happy in different ways: helping them get better or...

Rock Collecting Trip

Rock collecting wasn't part of the plan. Neither was arrowhead hunting. Then we met Felix. He was a Mayan Indian, he told us, whose family had migrated from Mexico. Now he was living in an old RV. He was there to enjoy the hot springs, like us. The Arizona desert has more than just hot springs hidden in it though.

We shared meals and campfires for a week, and then he took my wife Ana and I into the desert to show us ancient metates (grain-grinding stones) and arrowheads. In addition, we found Apache Tears, Fire Agate, and hundreds of other beautiful rocks of every type. They were just...
