In the ancient time, a man is not considered as a real man if he has no a Keris. The Keris is highly valued, treated and respected with special care.

This pusaka is usually inherited from fore fathers. According to Javanese ancient tradition, especially in the court families, a father was obliged to give to his adult son at least a Keris.

In Principle, a keris is a personal sacred weapon, it is made by an Empu -a person with spiritual power who are experts in making heirloom things eg. Keris-, in accordance with the wish of the consumer.

In general, Keris is divided to two important parts, the blade (Wilah) and the scabbard (Warangka), to protect the blade. The process of the making of the blade in the old days may last one year only for one Keris. Only the respectable Empus could make a high quality Keris, physically and spiritually. Empu has to do some spiritual deeds to prepare a Keris, like fasting, not sleeping for several days and nights, meditation, etc.

Despite its physical characteristic, keris contain a spiritual mission. The original spiritual power is the wishes of the Empu, the maker. While preparing and making a keris, the Empu, in the holy state, solemnly pray to God Almighty, the Keris should contain spiritual wishes as requested by the Empu or the consumer. It depends who is going to use the Keris, the mission should be different, for instance, for a King, Begawan (priest), generals, high ranking officials, farmers, traders, fishermen, workers, soldiers, etc. So, it could be easy to understand that a Keris which good for a King , may be not good for a farmer.

The additional and/or other spiritual power of Keris. The Keris could be filled with spiritual beings, unseen by ordinary people, such as a genie, (jin or qodam) in order to protect or to help the Keris owner.

Every day she completed four pieces of cloth. But Batik cloth was not hers. Mbah Karyo is a Batik workers for each piece of Batik cloth, she paid for Rp.2000 (less than a quarter of US$ 1).

Mbah Karyo is one of the millions of Indonesian Batik craftsmen who depend their lives from the job. A simple person who does not realize that from the work of his hands, Batik Indonesia was recognized by the world.

World through UNESCO has established, Batik is Indonesian native culture which has existed since hundreds of years ago. Batik is a culture, part of the life of the Javanese in particular.

The existence of Batik built with fortitude by simple people like Mbah Karyo, who despite making a piece of Batik cloth only paid a very cheap, but with Javanese culture that flows in her blood, making a piece of Batik cloth is an honor that she gave to his ancestors.

(source : ajiyogya.blogspot.com)

It is the only province in Indonesia that is still formally governed by a precolonial Sultanate, the Sultanate of Ngayogyakarta Sultanate. The city is known as a center of classical Javanese fine art and culture such as batik, ballet, drama, music, poetry and puppet shows. It is also famous as a center for Indonesian higher education. The official name of the Yogyakarta province is Special Region of Yogyakarta. Haunted by spiraling population, economic and political problems, the most populous island in South East Asia is a land of contrasts with an uncertain future.

Java is an island of striking natural beauty, rich in cultural history. But it's getting harder to recognize it. At Yogyakarta's center is the palace, or the Sultan's palace. Surrounding the palace is a densely-populated residential neighborhood that occupies land that was formerly the Sultan's sole domain; evidence of this former use remains in the form of old walls and the ruined Water Castle (Castle), built in 1758 as a pleasure garden no longer used by the sultan, the garden had been largely abandoned, and was used for housing by palace employees and descendants. Reconstruction efforts began in 2004, and an effort to renew the neighborhood around the palace has begun. The site is a developing tourist attraction.

The Ramayana ballet is worth attending even if you're not a fan of traditional Asian stage performances. Rp 50.000 gets you a 90-minute show with a talented dance troupe and a full gamelan orchestra. It's a casual, well-organized atmosphere and you can meet the performers and even dance with them on the stage!

The Cirebon Restaurant, also on Jalan Malioboro, attracts a steady stream of Locals and Foreigners with its (mainly) vegetarian specialties and convivial atmosphere - all at good prices.

Honestly, there are no other cities in Indonesia that have different names equally popular like this one. The upper floor of this building is the games and children's wing.

The games and children wing features one large room with a pool table and video game corner (with both Wii and PS3 machines). There are also three other smaller rooms (and bathrooms), one of which has four bunk beds for children. One room for domestic staff (who may be travelling with guests or locally hired and given overnight charges) featuring two small beds, and another room which can be arranged to host children's cots or other configurations.

A restaurant grade kitchen is located on the south east side of the estate. Covered parking hosts the 3 cars that come with the Istana (one 'beach car' and the Alphard) and also provide for additional covered and non-covered slots for additional guest vehicles.

Within the main house are a living room, dining room, TV room and lounge, and four very similar bedroom suites (apart from the master suite which stands in its own separate building). All of the guest buildings are single-story and open-air with rich teakwood floors, inspiring a natural ambiance, while maintaining and accentuating the spectacular view and modern design.

The overall style is a blend of modern architecture and traditional Indonesian detailing, with features that highlight Indonesian materials and workmanship. The artwork is a collection of primitive art and antiques from around the Indonesian archipelago, which complement the stylish blend of traditional and modern.

source : theistana.com

One terrace is furnished with sun-loungers and umbrellas, the other with a barbeque and a large table with bench seats for alfresco dining. Additional shade is provided by two twisting frangipani trees; during the day these sweet-scented flowering trees cast cool shadows, while at night they appear to dance on the shimmering water of the pool.

source : jajaliluna.com

The villa is thirty minutes’ from the international airport, and convenient for all of the island’s main shopping malls and tourist attractions, including Tanah Lot, Bali’s most venerated sea temple.

The romantic, 3-bedroom Villa Nawang Wulan blends contemporary tropical architecture with thatched roofs and antique furnishings. It takes its name from a classic Javanese folk tale, the story of which is depicted in one of the paintings that graces its walls. Guests will enter the villa through an impressive pair of towering teakwood doors. The central focus is the open-sided living pavilion, which is bordered by a 12 x 4.75-metre swimming pool fed by a waterfall, it is complemented by a stone terrace furnished with sun beds, and completed by a raised wooden deck at one end.

source : villanawangwulan.com

In fact, the size and design of the grounds provides for many secluded seating areas making this villa the perfect location for large groups of friends or family to congregate together or enjoy private holiday time.

Umah di Beji commands the very essence of luxury; superior interior and exterior presentation; an eye for quality art and creative flair, making this premier villa a first class choice for a holiday vacation in Bali.

Whether the name Umah di Beji (Bath of the Gods) refers to this five-bedroom villa’s signature swimming pool, dramatic floating bathtub or the river that runs the entire length of the grounds is rather lost in the midst of time. What is certain is that this magnificent property represents one of Bali’s finnest vacation properties that were featured in a Financial Times article regarding luxury villas in Bali.

Located within easy reach of Bali’s Southern beach resort of Seminyak and the luxurious restaurants, clubs and boutiques in Oberoi, Umah di Beji is an excellent base for holiday vacation rest or Bali exploration. Specifically, the villa is 1km from the beach, and approximately 40 minutes from the airport. The prestigious Meridian golf course by Tanah Lot temple is around 15 minutes away. Bali’s cultural centre, Ubud, can be reached within 45 minutes.

source : umahdibeji.com
