So I thought I was tough when I played ultimate frisbee, but roller derby…. (!) You’re landing on hard concrete! They wear some padding, but I think I would be black & blue all over.

I’ll be really excited when I get a lens that can shoot indoor sports really well.  At this point I don’t really have a great lens for this type of shooting. But here are a couple shots I like:

Me and Jason went to see his childhood friend, Craig, get married a few weeks ago.  It was also my first trip to Chicago! Outside of just being in O’Hare.  I wasn’t getting paid, but I like a couple of these shots.

Well it was such a nice day last weekend!  I was so glad to get a chance to walk around my old stomping grounds and shoot Mimi’s graduation shots with her family and friends.

Unfortunately, lots of other people had the same idea. There were a ton of people around.  We had to wait in line for the old well (a little). Overall it wasn’t too bad.  Here are some of my favorite shots.

Emily and Paul had a real international wedding! Paul is from Ireland.  On short notice, Paul’s parents and one of his brothers (and his family) flew over to attend the ceremony.  There was other family, Emily’s brother and his wife and child and Paul’s other brother and his wife and kids that couldn’t make it. Paul’s mother  face-timed with Ireland while Emily’s mother recorded the ceremony for Emily’s brother.

Patty & Billy had one of the most unique wedding ceremonies I’ve ever seen.  They high-fived their family and friends when they came back down the aisle, if that gives you an idea what they’re like! It was in the Arboretum in Chapel Hill (a place I’ve always wanted to shoot a wedding) and the weather was perfect. I wish all my weddings were so easy.

There was one challenge.  The size of the groom’s family. They wanted to get all 43 of them in one shot.  And since the wedding was at the Arboretum, there wasn’t really a place for me to get high and shoot down (one way to get lots of people in one shot).  So I came up with something a little creative that turned out really well (the very last picture!), and I was lucky that Billy’s family was willing to do something unconventional.

Jessie and Trey got married on 4/14/12.  The weather was perfect, the location was great (Cobblestone Hall in Raleigh, NC) ~ despite the World Beer Festival going on. And we did our group shots at Fletcher park.  Lesson reminded (versus lesson learned) from this particular wedding.  It’s imminently useful to visit your shoot locations before the wedding.  I think all good photographers can shoot on the fly, but being prepared with some neat ideas ahead of time is definitely useful.

So Lindsey & Raj are a couple of great friends of mine.  I was VERY excited when I heard they were having a traditional Christian ceremony AND a Hindu ceremony.  This was my first Hindu ceremony and it was AWESOME.  It was longer than expected (by almost 2 hours), but every bit of it was fantastic!  Here are some of the shots that I really enjoy:
