In November 2008, Hollywood Bubble, Inc. teamed up with famed extreme athlete Luigi Cani and areal cinematographer Craig O’Brien to produce a heart pounding 30 second live-action skydiving commercial for Doritos. We set out to do this on a budget of approximately $500 and we ended up with a product that looked like it cost in the six figure range. With the support of Perris Valley Skydiving and the skydiving community we were able to pull off this amazing project.

A pilot (Luigi Cani) is robbed of his Doritos bag as he’s about to take a bite by the last skydiver (Ruben Garay) to leave the airplane. On his quest to get his Doritos back at all costs the pilot jumps out of the plane without a parachute and chases the skydiver down at 200mph and manages to snatch the bag. Fantasy takes over and the pilot is then seen falling on top of a football field, but just as he’s about to take a bite of his favorite snack…something happens.

Filmed over a period of two days in Perris, CA, we used a DeHavilland Twin-Otter to shoot the skydiving scenes. We shot the football field scene at the nearby Perris High. We built a custom jacket to fit on top of Luigi Cani’s parachute rig to give it the illusion that he was jumping without a parachute. We then constructed a dummy that we dropped from a height of 12 feet to simulate his fall from the sky. We were able to build the dummy by purchasing limbs and prosthetics from Cinema Secrets in Burbank, CA. We stuffed the dummy with a bunch of towels in order to give him weight. This also allowed us to throw him from the 12 foot height several times without him breaking.

The sun was directly hitting the pin at the same time that the hair of a reporter was obstructing a shot. We managed to create an amazing natural effect by making the blond hair go out of focus while shooting the pin, creating a unique smokey look to introduce the signature emblem of the TV-show as it was fading in and out of the shot.

If your company has an upcoming event that you’d like to cover with a full crew, we can be there and create a truly unique marketing package for your event giving it the look you want.

Hollywood Bubble, Inc. produced, shot and edited over 60 unique episodes of the RadarOnline.com video diaries which followed the life of Octo-mom Nadya Suleman as she settled into her new home in La Habra, CA following the birth of her 8 babies. We were there from the beginning, including that chaotic night when the first two babies came home which caused a total media frenzy.

Our pieces have been featured everywhere from CNN (including CNN.com Video) to Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, Good Morning America and Fox News, just to name a few. A lot of the commentary and buzz that was created for these pieces was thanks to the way that we shot this project to make it look more like a “reality show”.

Hollywood Bubble was the driving force behind the creativity and ingenuity that led to these episodes to receive such high level of recognition worldwide.

We shot every single video with the Canon HV30 HDV camera ($599) and two sets of Sennheiser wireless mics ($1200). We used Final Cut Studio 2 ($1299) for post production and each episode was delivered in pristine 720p quality. Other production companies feel the need to use $7000 HD cameras for show, but the truth of the matter is that, when you’re producing for web, you will never notice that difference in quality.

This allows us to pass you as our client attractive pricing on our services.
