LEADING LADY WALKS, ALMOST

Here on set is our leading lady trying so hard to walk (you know how blonds are). The producers here at the studio are so sorry about the awful sound she makes while trying to move, so please forgive us for the pain she may cause. The prop department is on it's way with a oil can, hopefully that should do the trick. Also, please stay tuned to the final ending and watch the director show off his fine skills.

STEAM PUNK DOLL

To my surprise I found this doll at the flea market today. Not until I picked her up did I realize she was a doll machine. You crank her up and she walks. Has anyone out there seen this doll? Please let me know if you have. I'm thrilled, she's perfect for the female lead in my new movie. Now if I can just get her to talk.

It was a small house on a big lot. There was nothing fancy, nothing grand about this place.

The gardens were not formal. They were wild and over grown and endless amounts of work. I could see digging was a nightmare, that heavy black gumbo, hard as rock, only a crazy person would dream what was once a cotton field, could be anything else.

Just down the drive on it's dead end street were relatives and neighbors who were always in and out.

Roses were grown, pets buried, fights started and ended. Tragedies and triumphes were always shared.

Flying barefoot out the front door, down the brick walk and into the park to explore was the most one could do.

Nature was the only thing that entertained. The big sky was your dream maker and the hot humid land always kept you in your place.

So it's been five years since this house was sold, all the contents of sixty years divided and sorted. The previous occupant's resettled and doing fine, realist that they are. Things change and one must let go, became the verse.

I had a dream last night and in it, I heard the verse, like a echo. One must, one must let go.. So I too, am a realist. I know the gardens are gone, the house disfigured, and a new modern family has settled in. I only hope that the new family can give thanks, for living, loving, being raised, and dreaming in that little house on the big lot full of memories.

If you will, open your mind and take a look at these objects. These are just a few of the eighty pieces I purchased on this last buying trip. The focus of this collection are functional objects, American made, before technology. For me, each piece reads as a sculpture, modern and simple. I have fallen in love with the design and the engineering skills it took to make these. Some are factory made and some are made purely by hand, all of them, in my eyes, are a lost art by the people who created them.

ps. Because I found two of the same wire frogs it leads me to believe they are not so early, any ideas?

Oh, and by the way it's nice to be home, I missed you guys!

Is there not another way to help the environment than to have these horrible LED lights, I ask you. Help! The city of Los Angeles has decided that they are now going to install these vile white over bright lights through out the city. And now we have them in the neighborhood. Now my street looks like a murder scene on a airport runway.
Los Angeles is famous for doing everything ass-backwards, so with the help of neighbors and myself walking door to door, the city now has to come back and fix the wattage and put up shields. The biggest waste of time and money if you ask me. And did I say how much I hate these lights and Al Gore if you had just talked to me first we could have come up with a better pedestrian way of helping the earth, like maybe we can stop buying cheap junk from China.
As a designer this is the worse nightmare. No one will ever convince me, ever, that this is the right way to help Mother Earth.
So, is there any one out there that hates LED lights? Please let me know so I'll feel better. Misery loves company!

I know I don't shy away from the extreme or the eccentric, I never have. Thankfully now, I have an audience that shares my taste and whats better they pay for the pleasure. What you see in this video is a display case at the Pasadena Antique Center Annex. It is mine. Although I sell Mid Century Modern pieces and glamorous Hollywood Regency to the stores and all the other things in style, this you see before you is my passion. At least right now. The handmade, folksy, made by Americans, things invented in garages these type of things I'm drawn to, more than ever.

Here is just a quick glimpse of some of the interior of my clients Palm Springs rental. This client is fun and thankful and I couldn't be more thankful myself. He had everything. A enormous art collection, rugs, furniture, you name it, he had it. He just needed me to pull it all together for him. Although it was hotter than hell and my feet are killing me, I think it's turning out well. Life is good.

For years I've looked up at that wall with the cross and said Kevin, you gotta get some clay pots up there. Well, some coffee did the trick. Regarding the religious symbol, it's been in family for centuries and the law of the land is it must stay in the family. So there it hangs.

You guys know the answer, yes, I bought the pair of blue flower pots. This pair has the dreamiest matte blue glaze I have ever seen. The pots are Gainey Ceramics made in La Verne, Ca.. This company is still in business and have a wonderful web site, you my want to check out.. From the looks of bottom hallmark, I would say they were made in the 60's to the 70's. It's no secret how I feel about the color blue, so these will not be easy to say goodbye to. But you know, the boy has to pay the rent.
