On July 17, Nashville session guitarist Fred Carter passed away. Fred played on such classic tracks as Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay," Marty Robbins' "El Paso," and Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer." In February, Indiana Senator Evan Byah surprised everyone when he announced that we would not seek re-election after two terms. Byah is the son of long-time Indiana senator Birch Bayh, who retired after being defeated in 1980 by a young man named Dan Quayle. Now, Quayle's son, Ben Quayle (left), has won the Republican primary for Congress in Arizona's 3rd District.

David Carradine Dies At 72

Kung Fu and Kill Bill star David Carradine, member of a large acting family, was found dead on June 3, 2009. The 72-year-old actor's body was discovered hanging in a closet by a hotel maid in Bangkok, Thailand, where he was filming a movie. At this time, police believe the cause of death to be accidental suffocation related to an autoerotic sex game gone awry. An official autopsy is expected to determine the exact cause, but friends deny a suicidal state of mind and police say hotel security cameras show no one else entering or leaving Carradine’s room.
