Operation Christmas Child

The Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes will be collected this Sunday Nov. 13th. They will be dedicated during the church service. If you would like to fill a shoe box you can use an adult size shoe box and decide if it will be for a boy or a girl and then pick the age. Fill the box with appropriate items and secure cover with a rubber band. You can fill out a form on Sunday to include in your box along with a $7.00 shipping and handling fee. Gift suggestions include: School supplies such as pens, pencils, crayons and markers, paper solar calculators, picture books etc. Toys such as small cars, balls dolls stuffed animals kazoos yo-yos slinky's etc. Hygiene items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks, ball caps, comb, wash cloth etc. In general when you are shopping think what will ship well, not melt, break open and no war related items. If you have questions please call the church office today before 4:00. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Pastor Settle's Installation

The installation service for our new Pastor, Pastor Rance Settle, will be held here at Holy Cross on Sunday September 11, at 3:00 in the afternoon with Rev. Dr. Lane Seitz preaching. The Call Committee is pleased to announce that Pastor Rance Settle from Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN. www.redeemer-rochester.com has accepted the call to become the Pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Pastor Settle is 38 years old, married and has 3 children. He attended seminary in St. Louis MO. At this time the installation date has not been set. Please keep Pastor Settle and his family in your prayers as he transitions from Redeemer in Rochester to Holy Cross.

Youth Bowling

The youth will be going to Brunswick Bowl Sunday afternoon (5-15-11) for two hours of fun. Please sign up on the Youth bulletin board. Friends are welcome! The cost is $4 for shoes and any food you may wish to purchase. Meet up at church to carpool at 2:00 PM or meet us at Brunswick in Lakeville at 2:30. See you then!

Free Meal & Marking

Take a night off from cooking tomorrow (5-12-11) and come to church for a free meal which includes sloppy joes, chips and dessert. Please bring your own beverage. We will be meeting at the church at 6:00 PM to eat followed by an enjoyable night of garage sale marking. All the supplies will be supplied for marking and OJT will be provided. Come for part or all of the evening. Many hands make the work go faster and it is a fun time just to get to know a fellow member a little bit better. As in the past all the proceeds from the sale go towards next years Haiti mission trip. If you have any questions please call the church office at 952 445-1779

Becky's Funeral

Becky Dobberstein passed away this past Saturday October 2. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday October 5 from 4-8 and the funeral will be on Wednesday at 10:30 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

In an effort to provide as much support for Becky's boys as possible (Jacob age 12, Connor age 7, Blake age 4) a donation account has been established for them at the South Metro Federal Credit Union in Prior Lake. Tax deductable donations can be dropped off at the Credit Union (located across from Mystic Lake Casino on Cty. Rd. 83), or mailed to the credit union at the address below. Note cards and envelopes are available at the Credit Union should you wish to leave a few words for the family. If indicated, cards included with mailed checks will also be provided to the family.

Holy Cross Members Working at the Camp Omega State Fair Booth

That's right... Camp Omega has a restaurant at the "Great Minnesota Get-Together".

The Chinatown Minnesota restaurant booth is now located in the Food Building found between Cooper St. and Underwood St. at booth #24.

Joy Anderson, Tracy Eickhoff, Diane Mullenbach and Donna Vig are just part of the seven member team that will be volunteering at the booth

on Friday, September 3rd 3:30-11pm. For over 40 years Camp Omega has raised funds for various camp projects and camperships by running the

restaurant with the help of volunteers. Stop by the booth, say hello and buy an egg roll on-a-stick, teriyaki ostrich or cream cheese wontons.

Funds raised will be supplemented by the Southern Dakota - Scott County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
If you aren't at the fair on Friday stop by anytime throughout the fair and support Camp Omega and its fine volunteers.

Outdoor Service

Just a reminder that this Sunday, July 25th, we will be having an outdoor service at Lakefront Park in Prior Lake. A potluck picnic and games will follow the service. Please bring a dish to share. Plates and utensils will be furnished along with coffee and a keg of Root Beer. What a great day to wear your "Saved to Serve"

Pastor Nissen passed away peacefully last night. There will be a viewing at Holy Cross tomorrow, Sat. March 27th, from 10:30am-noon. His funeral will be in Fergus Falls on Monday at 11:00am at Faith Lutheran Church. Please Keep Eunice and her family in your prayers.
