So, we’re trying out a blog for the HomeGrown Festival – gathering thoughts, late-breaking news, updates, tidbits and other food-related stuffs. The HomeGrown Festival is now only 2 weeks away and there’s still lots to do!

One of our main tasks now is to gather more than 100 volunteers needed to put on this party. If you have a few hours on September 10th to meet some new people and participate in making Michigan a great place to live, click here: http://homegrownfestival.org/volunteer/

This Festival is an all-volunteer, grassroots thing that the planning committee spends the better part of year making happen. We do this modern-day version of a barn-raising to benefit the food growers and producers in our area, as well as the food eaters.

As Joel Salatin said recently “You, as a food buyer, have the distinct privilege of proactively participating in shaping the world your children will inherit.”
