Hi!
Day 1 of 2015.

According to my readings and what Imran and I had in our discussions, this year would be a very hard one. Well, at least for us. Crashes in economy, politics, social. All around the globe. That would give some impact to our life a little bit. More, perhaps.

But that won't be something that stopping us to go on our journey. We believe that we are on the right path and we always pray to God for His blessing. May God grant us with strength and ease in everything we do.

And for this year onwards, I pray for peace in the whole world. I pray for the positive thoughts and good health in everybody. And I pray for a happy new year!

Salam and Hello!

Just want to share with you what I have done last night. Photo transfer on fabric --in a way to finish the handbound book that halfway done for Imran.

This time I used gesso as a medium to transfer the photo on calico fabric and mod podge for the coating of the image transferred. It was almost perfectly done, with just a little bit of paper pulps left on the image after it has been transferred and coated with mod podge. But I have cleaned it up a lil' bit and it's all done.

I think I'm gonna put this image on the cover of Imran's book and I hope it could finish before new year.

Well, the days gone by, December is almost over, and in a couples of days we're gonna say goodbye to 2014. Whatever has been achieved and what's not, just keep going, keep moving forward. Some books has to be closed, some can be added with new sheets for new pages and continue.

Wedding Guest Book: Sabarina And Syauki

Salam and Hello!
It has been a while since my last post. I don't know, maybe I've been busy with my life, work and everything in between. But I have all the updates on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Okay, this post is about another handmade Wedding Guest Book that I've made for my customer, Sabarina (she's actually my colleague) from KL. The theme was lilac and cream.

So, I made the book with Japanese stab binding, I used calico for the cover as it's more to creamy color. And the flowers (Layla and Mini Leli) were made of different kind of fabrics.

The wedding was on September 14, 2104 and this book was ordered 2 weeks before. Thanks to Allah to make it happen (even though I had to struggle juggling between Satrya and this during the process). And again, Imran was a great partner and supporter.

We've got new company!

Salam and Hello,
It's been a while since my last blog post on Black & Gold Theme guest book. A lot of things we've been through. Most importantly I've been delivered a beautiful baby boy on July 5th, 2013 and we named him Arman Satrya Bhakti.

He was born 25 days early and was 2.5kg at birth (a little bit smaller than Aryaan when he was born). Satrya also got prolonged jaundice (more than a month) and was admitted twice for photo therapy (then I realized there's a term breast milk jaundice!). Thank God eventually the baby was getting well and now he grows healthier (he's just recovered from fever last week).

I spent my confinement period in Ipoh in fasting and Hari Raya months. Very challenging - not much food on Ramadhan and too much food but cannot eat during Syawal. Darn! But that was ok, as long as I had enough nutrition for me to fully breastfeed the baby.

Satrya is now 2 days to 5-month old. How time flies. And tomorrow is Aryaan's bithday, we miss him like always.

Happy New Year.
It's first day of 2013. I hope your previous resolutions have been fulfilled and so you can start this year with the new ones

For me (and Imran), we have gone through bitter sweet journey along 2012. 6-month time spent with our beloved Aryaan Hafizh before he was returned to the Almighty Creator. Thanks to You for all the joy, good health as well as strength to go through these tests.

Anyhow, it's already new year. New book has to be opened to be filled with a lot more of new adventures, and we've already had our good news. May God bless us to go through this year and many of incoming ones.

That English Themed Wedding

I just finished my latest Wedding Guest Book, ordered by B2B from Kajang 2 weeks ago. She asked for English theme, dusty pink shades. And the design of the cover and first page was inspired by herself.

And honestly, this would be one of my favorite. I used Layla and Mini Leli on this one, but I altered them a little bit. Instead of putting those shining brooches and small beads on both respectively, I put pearl beads.

I was really hoping that the colors of chiffon that I used suit the theme. The B2B provided me strips of ribbons she used for her wedding just to guide me for the theme color, but it was hard to find the same ones for the chiffon.

I have to admit, 2 weeks was too short for me to finish this, but finally I'm really happy that I manage to make it done and send the book to her yesterday. I hope she'll love it and enjoy her wedding fabulously. And thanks to Allah to make it happen and thanks to Imran for supporting me, like always!

The girl also ordered this simple signboard. Lovely!

Fin. And now I can sit and relax and enjoy the sunshine and rain!

Mini Notebook in the making.
In fact, I'm making more books recently-- as a birthday gift for some friends and family members.
Also, wedding guest books for a few new friends.
And, we (Imran and me) are looking forward to join any arts/craft-selling bazaar-- to learn, explore and expand.

Terjebak dengan beberapa blogger yang pernah ke Ipoh and posted out about this cozy restaurant, so Imran and me went to the place when we were in Ipoh last weekend for Hari Raya Qurban. Just want to see how unique is the place and... RUSTIC!

I never know there is such a restaurant in Ipoh (ironically, I'm from Ipoh!).

Gila, bangunan lama di pekan lama Ipoh ni, diubahsuai dan dijadikan restoran yang menarik-- rasanya macam tak banyak ubahsuai yang the owner buat. Sebab, kalau tengok luar dan dalam bangunan, macam kedai tinggal pun ada. Hehe!

Located at Jalan Sultan Yussuf, near the HSBC, this restaurant serves foods such as burgers, wraps, pastries, tartlets, etc, coffee and tea and such (and they do have a bar) :P

We had our second breakfast there-- (before that we had our breakfast at the food court near the Stadium Perak). Such a rustic yet cozy place, they have 3 different concepts of dining space. Ada yang ala-ala cafe gitu, the bar and the one which is at the back of the building-- they call it Lazy Lane. Nice!

The owner's son said this is his mom's second project after the Indulgence Restaurant and Living-- located at Jalan Tambun (err... never been there. Hihi!)

The upper level of the shop is the space they open for charity program, bazaar and markets-- all for charity! And I missed the craft bazaar they held on Sunday.

Well, we like the concept. Really! The interior, the foods-- this is the concept of cafe that I'd planned for so long before I met Imran. (dan itu salah satu perkara yang membuatkan saya dan Imran menemui titik persamaan yang membuahkan suka dan cinta-- wahahahaha!)

Ok, we'd like to have one like this soon! :)

Packing Tape Photo Transfer

Salam and Hello.
As I promised, here is the tutorial for another technique of photo transferring using a packing tape. Before you do this, you need to print your image off of the laser printer, not an ink jet printer, on a piece of photocopy paper. It won't work from an ink jet prints.

Supplies needed are: Packing tape (any size, depends on your image size), image that you want to transfer, scissor, bowl of water, paper towel and mod podge (optional).

Step 1: Choose you image required to transfer.

Step 2: Carefully cover the printed image with a piece of packing tape. Avoid wrinkles or bubbles under the tape.

Step 3: Make sure it covers the whole image.

Step 4: I used spoon to burnish the surface of the tape to ensure the ink and the adhesive are completely in-contact. You also can use bone folder to do this.

Step 5: Cut the image with scissor (or just simply tear away the edge of the tape) then submerge it into a bowl of water for a few minutes until the paper is thoroughly saturated.

Step 6: Now you can start to rub the paper until it is completely peeled off the tape. Then what left will be the tape and the image.

Step 7: When the tape is completely clean from the paper residues, let it dry on the paper towel.

Step 8: The tape will still be slightly sticky, so you can layer your image over you work (canvas, cards, patterned paper, glass, etc) or if it doesn't stick, you can use glue. Mod-podge or gel medium would be better as they become transparent when dry.

Step 9: Now it is done!

Another Mod-Podge photo transfer on canvas. I know I'm not good in scrap-booking, the template is very simple. But I think it's pretty enough to be as a birthday gift.

A simple birthday gift for my SIL, since she asked me to make her an altered canvas with her picture and Aryaan Hafizh, our beloved baby boy.

See the words "Sunshine & Rain"? That's is another technique of photo transferring using a packing tape. It's very easy, I'll post a tutorial later.

Salam and Hello.
I am so, so, so happy when I managed to finish my very first handmade Wedding Guest Book ordered by a friend in Shah Alam. She was asking me to make a guest book with red and white theme and black cover. I was so excited and took this as my new challenge as to improve my creativity. So I decided to use velvet for the cover and Japanese stab for binding.

It's a very simple layout with red felt flowers and brooches and some silver filigrees. And not to forget, the signage and 2 altered mason jar with paper doilies and chiffon flower, I made as the table setting deco.

Owh, by the way, the signage-- it is not a chalkboard, even if it looks like one (I couldn't find one at the nearest store that time). So, I got the cork board from Daiso, attached a piece of black cardstock on it with the double sided tape and that's it!

I will post the tutorial on making the signage, later. :)
