Backed with SSD and external hard drive support, it has also been confirmed that the PS5 console will have a powerful CPU that has 8 Cores of 7nm and a heavy-duty  AMD Ryzen 3 Graphic Processor Unit (GPU) with 16 threads and a minimum constant clock speed of 3.2 GHz on all the cores . Furthermore, PS5’s GPU of 12 to 14 Teraflops which will have 3.3x increased  computational power as compared to the PS4 Pro.

Sony’s interactive entertainment CEO, Jim Ryan has confirmed that PS5 will support 4k resolution gaming at 120Hz.  It has also been rumoured that gaming enthusiasts will get a whopping 8k resolution gaming on PS5. This will, however, only be compatible with an 8K monitor. If Sony is to offer high resolution graphics at such a high frame rate it is important to notice that it will require full usage of the GPU and specific hardware chips like they implemented in PS4 Pro. It is still unclear whether these features will be offered using the native or checkerboard resolution processing.

Ray Tracing is difficult to implement from a computational standpoint. It is when every single ray of light coming from a light source bounces off of environment creating a much more realistic and 3D graphics. Part of the delay in the release of PS5 is because the AMD processor is slow to get ray tracing support onto Navi. The next generation console, however, will have faster CPU and GPU which will help tackle the problem.

It is believed that PS5 will be named Prospero, This functional system will load old PS4 games with higher quality and feature 3D audio which will make gameplay more immersive. Though the PS5 console price is still unknown, PS VR will also be supported on PS5. New games for PS5 will include Horizon Zero Dawn 2.
