New Fall Styles & The Pants You’ll Want to Live In!

I have some early fall styles to share with you and a new pair of silky pants I’m crazy for and styled several ways for you!

Size Reference: I’m petite, about 5’1, currently weighing about 106 lbs.

Top • Jeans • Belt • Flats • Bag • Necklace

These Quince jeans are one of my favorites, I have them in multiple colors. They come in different lengths so you can get ones that fit you the best!

I’m wearing them with this cute henley style top from Anthro in this orangey fall color.

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25

Vest • Top • Jeans • Belt • Heels • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Here is that same outfit with a vest from Amazon layered over. I think it adds a fun pop and some visual interest. I decided to swap my knit flats for a heel just for a little height.

I think these are my favorite style Quince jeans, the high waist wide leg jeans. They’re a comfy rise, gives you legs for days and also comes in all the lengths.

I’ve been living in this sleeveless mock neck top. It’s got a nice stretch to it and feels so good on.

Quicne also makes one of my fave ribbed knit tanks, I wear it with jeans, joggers and even shorts. It’s a little cropped but not belly baring with high waisted bottoms.

I paired it with that same Amazon vest from earlier that also comes in blue denim colors too.

These jeans caught my eye on Abercrombie, and I think they’re so fun! They’re a low rise ultra loose style that I think I need to get used but I think they’re so cute to style for fall and winter.

I think they’re currently sold out in this pattern, but keep an eye out for a restock!

Top • Pants • Belt • Heels • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

If you’re on the look for a classic black pant, these are so good! They have a pleated front, wide leg, button and zip fly, pockets and faux pockets in the back so no extra bulk.

I feel so good in these, and they’re very pretty and polished. I wore them to church over the weekend and even Elliott said they looked amazing!

I was hoping these pants would be good on and I was so right! These pull on pants are wide leg with pockets, so elevated and easy to style. They come in tons of colors and you can machine wash them!

I’m smitten with the chocolate brown paired with the brown sweater, I feel so chic in this! I could sit down to work and feel like I’m in my pjs, but I’m put together for a productive workday!

Pants Fit: These run large, I’m wearing XXS

Top • Pants • Heels • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Bodysuit • Pants • Heels • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Here I’m wearing the pants with an older bodysuit from Amazon. A tank obviously would work here as well, but I really like the shape of this on. It’s double lined so it’s nice and slimming.

I like layering lightweight pieces especially because Houston’s fall weather is always a late memo. This zip up jacket has been a great layer, and I’ve worn it to church as well.

Of course leaning into all the shades of brown. I paired the chocolate brown pants with this lighter brown stripe top from Avara. This feels so polished and feminine.

Giving you some fun fall color combos here, this is an old top from Madewell. I think the deeper red pairs so well with the brown especially for a fall evening.

Pants Fit: I’m wearing an XXS

Similar Top • Pants • Heels • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Sweater • Pants • Heels • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

This sweater from Amazon is really cute and looks so good with the pants. It’s got a drop shoulder, lightweight and 3/4 sleeves that are perfect if it’s not too cold where you are.

This sleeveless sweater is what we’re wearing in Houston right now. The higher roll neck style that’s really popular right now plus this is so comfy and looks great with jeans too.

I love the pretty brown of course, the monochromatic vibe always looks so elevated.

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Pants Fit: I’m wearing an XXS

Top • Pants • Heels • Bag

I am always reaching for this top once the weather cools down. It’s a mock neck long sleeve top from Amazon.

I wish I had a little leopard kitten heel to go with this because I think it would look really cute with the black and brown combo.

Top Fit: I’m wearing a Small

Pants Fit: I’m wearing an XXS

Top • Pants • Heels • Bag

Pull on Satin Pants

These pants feel just like pajamas but make you feel instantly elevated and chic.

Top • Jeans • Heels • Necklace • Bracelets

Back in my Quince jeans, these are a rigid denim that fits true to size. I paired with this stretchy knit tank I’m loving from Abercrombie. It has a built in bra! I’d say they’re true to size but if you are busty maybe consider sizing up.

I even got one in my Cincinnati Bengals team for NFL season, but comes in every color and team!

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Bodysuit • Jeans • Belt • Heels • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Ending this fall style try on with a classic outfit that I feel so good in! These are the Quince Bella jeans in the color Midnight Blue that’s a little bit darker wash and just so pretty.

I’m wearing them with that same Amazon bodysuit as before in white, which is nice and opaque.

I shared how we met and our engagement story here if you want to check it out. I hope it gives encouragement where some might be wanted. I’m so thankful to have Elliott as my forever partner. He is such a gift in my life.

How I’m Prepping for Our Wedding | Looking & Feeling My Best at 51

With the wedding getting closer, I’ve been thinking about all the things I’m doing to prepare, not just the flowers, music, and all those little wedding details, but how I’m taking care of myself, too.

I’m 51 years old, and it feels wild to be a bride at this stage of life. I know myself better, I’m more comfortable in my own skin, and I have a much greater appreciation for feeling strong, healthy, and confident.

Of course, I want to look beautiful in my wedding dress. But more than anything, I want to feel amazing walking down the aisle, enjoy every moment of our wedding, and look back on our photos knowing I felt like the very best version of myself.

Here’s what I’ve been doing to prepare!

1. Staying Consistent With My Strength Training

If you’ve been following along for a while, you know that strength training has become a huge part of my life over the past two years. It’s been incredible to see how much my body has changed through consistent training and nutrition.

I’m currently lifting weights four days a week, focusing on building and maintaining muscle while gradually leaning out for the wedding. My goal isn’t to get as skinny as possible- I love having muscle definition, especially in my shoulders, arms, and back, and I want to maintain the muscle I’ve worked so hard to build.

Sports Bra • Shorts • Long Sleeve • Sneakers • Socks • Stanley

I’m continuing with my regular strength workouts, adding a little cardio (five 15 min MISS sessions a week), and aiming for 10,000 steps a day.

2. Fine-Tuning My Nutrition

Nutrition has probably made the biggest difference in my body composition over the past year. Earlier this year, I went through a fat-loss phase, followed by a reverse diet where we gradually increased my calories. In August, I started another short fat-loss phase leading up to the wedding.

Right now, I’m in a small calorie deficit while still enjoying plenty of carbs and one high carb day a week to help support my training and recovery. I’m prioritizing protein (135g a day), eating plenty of whole foods, drinking water, and being mindful of my portions.

I still enjoy eating out and having treats, but I’m trying to be more intentional with my choices as the wedding approaches. One thing I’ve learned is that you don’t have to be perfect to make progress. In fact, I’ve had plenty of weekends where I’ve enjoyed ice cream, restaurant meals, and foods that weren’t part of my usual routine.

The key is getting right back to my normal habits rather than letting one indulgent meal turn into a week of feeling off track. And I’m definitely not planning to spend my wedding day tracking macros!

I share what I eat in a day in my weekly vlogs

3. Working on My Core With Physical Therapy

I’ve had diastasis recti since having my children, and didn’t really think there was much I could do to improve the situation. Even though my abs are strong, I’ve always struggled with that little pooch in my lower stomach. Recently, I started physical therapy specifically to address my diastasis recti, and I’ve already noticed improvements!

My therapist has been teaching me how to properly engage my deeper core muscles, improve my posture, and stop overcompensating with my upper abs. She’s also been doing some hands-on massage work, and my abdominal separation has already narrowed by approximately half to one finger width.

I’m continuing the exercises at home and hoping to make even more progress over time.

4. Adding Pilates to My Routine

I’ve also been incorporating Pilates into my weekly routine, and I’m really enjoying it!

I typically go on Saturday mornings, and it’s a nice change from my regular weightlifting workouts. Pilates has been a great complement to the core work I’m doing in physical therapy, particularly when it comes to posture, breathing, and body awareness.

I love that it challenges me in a different way, and I always leave feeling like I’ve done something good for my body. It’s definitely something I want to continue after the wedding.

5. Taking Care of My Skin

Of course, skincare is another part of my wedding preparation!

At 51, my skincare goals are a little different than they were in my 20s or 30s. Which, dang- was 20-30 years ago!!!

I’m focused on keeping my skin healthy, hydrated, and glowing while diminishing fine lines and also keeping new ones at bay. I’m religious about sunscreen and have done really well eliminating the dark spots I got in my sun tanning day, so I don’t want those to return! I use retin-A and also a few certain skincare products daily and several as needed.

Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum – a gentle daily exfoliating treatment that helps improve skin texture, tone, fine lines, dark spots, and clogged pores by promoting healthy cellular turnover.

I swear by using the Vitamin C in the morning and then the Mandelic Acid Serum at night which made a huge difference in the hyperpigmentation on my cheeks. After using that combo for so long, the dark spots are barely there.

I scheduled an appointment for botox on my forehead for about two weeks before the wedding!

I’m keeping up with my skincare routine, using my red light therapy mask, and making sure my skin stays well moisturized. I have come to really enjoy using my Current Body face mask and look forward to it. I’ve noticed a big improvement in the texture of my skin and also the healing of my bleph scars since I started using it regularly – about every other day for just 10 minutes.

Current Body just released an improved version of their red light therapy mask that is an FDA-cleared LED face mask for advanced anti-aging, clearing, and brightening. The new mask has MyDose which automatically calculates the optimal dose for your skin and then lets you choose from 4 clinician-approved preset modes or build personalized treatments for targeted anti-aging, clearing, and brightening.

I ordered the new one and will give my mom the one I’m wearing here so I’ll report back!

I want my makeup to look fresh and natural on our wedding day, and having a good skincare routine is such an important foundation for that.

My bamboo robe is on sale and you can use my code LTK for 35% off sitewide at Cariloha! They also make the softest bamboo towels that Elliott and I both LOVE!

Bamboo Towels use code LTK35 for 35% off sitewide!

Saltair Vanilla Body Butter – this is the moisturizer I’ve been using daily on my body. It’s a rich, nourishing hydrating body cream with ceramide complex, coconut oil, shea butter, and sea buckthorn. It’s smells so good but the scent isn’t overpowering.

6. Prioritizing Sleep and Recovery

This is probably the area where I still have the most room for improvement! My ideal schedule is to be in bed around 9:00 or 9:30 and wake up at 5:00. But, the other day, I must have had too much caffeine and maybe too much on my brain because I woke up in the middle of the night at 1 am and couldn’t fall back to sleep until 4 am!

That is the worst and you know you feel terrible when you don’t get enough sleep. I’ve noticed that when I don’t sleep well, I’m hungrier, have more cravings, and don’t feel as energized for my workouts.

So one of my biggest priorities over these final weeks is getting back into a consistent sleep routine and allowing myself enough recovery. I definitely want to get to bed early the night before the wedding!

7. Making Time for the Little Beauty Details

There are also all the fun little things that come with being a bride!

Dress “before the dress” • Heels

I’ve been thinking about my hair, makeup, nails, and all the finishing touches that will pull everything together. For my hair, I’m planning to wear it back with some soft, face-framing pieces. I want something elegant and timeless that still feels like me and also shows off the dresses I’ll be wearing.

I’ve also chosen my earrings and want to pick a bracelet, but I think I’ll do without a necklace.

I thought about doing my own makeup for the wedding, but I really wanted it to look stunning, and also get pampered on the big day, so I hired my friend and professional makeup artist Mari to do makeup for the wedding. She’ll be getting me and Ali-Shaun all dolled up.

Y’all advised me to do a makeup trial before the wedding and I took your advice. I’m so glad I did – I love the way it turned out!

And we used my natural-looking false lashes to complete the look! I like how they help my eyes pop without looking super fake.

Top (50% off) • Jeans (30% off)

We went on a date night after my makeup was done so I didn’t “waste it”!

I do have a few other makeup faves I’ve been loving:

Eyeshadow Palette • Eyeliner • Brow Pencil • Smudge Shadow Stick • Duo Blush & Contour Stick • Merit Blush Balm • Revitalash Mascara Duo • Blush Stick • Merit Tinted SPF • Duo Face Brush • Foundation Brush

Mocha Glass

Merit Tinted SPF • This is my preferred “foundation” and I apply it with this great Foundation Brush It provides sun protection and gives you nice coverage. I wear shade 20 and order on repeat.

Duo Blush & Contour Stick • Next, I’ve been swiping this contour stick onto my cheekbones (Mari showed me that I need to apply it higher than I had been) and also to the top of my forehead. I really like the creamy consistency and how easy it is to blend and I use this Duo Face Brush for that.

Smudge Shadow Stick • I use this to contour my nose more precisely and I love that it includes the smudge brush.

Merit Blush Balm • This cream blush balm goes next or I’ll use this Blush Stick. Before my 50s, I’d never used cream products but my skin is combination so it really agrees with the consistency of these products and they’re so easy to apply!

Eyeshadow Palette – I like this one so much that I just bought a fresh one!

BK Beauty Brush • Eco Tools Brushes • Mac Brushes

Eyeliner • I have big eyes and like to do a brown liner on my top lid and this one is great. It glides on and doesn’t get all over – just goes exactly where I place it.

Revitalash Mascara Duo • I’m also buying this mascara on repeat. It comes with a lash primer that gives your lashes such volume.

Brow Pencil • I’ve tried other popular brands of brow pencil over the years, but this is the one I’ve stuck with and return to again and again. I wear the color “soft brown”

As for hair, I plan to wear it mostly up on the wedding day. My hair keeps growing and growing, so much so that I keep getting it cut and it makes me think the Nutrafol I’ve been taking is doing its job.

Tank • Jeans

I have another hair appointment two weeks before the wedding and I’m considering going collarbone length, but I also want to make sure it’s long enough to wear up for the wedding so we’ll see. If I keep it longer for the wedding, I can definitely see going shorter in the new year!

I’ve been taking the Women’s Balance formula, which is designed for women over 45 who experience hair thinning. This formula has ingredients to target key root causes of thinning, such as hormones, metabolism, and aging.

I’ve noticed some hair thinning and also changes with texture right around my hairline. I’m not yet getting grey, but I am noticing some wiry texture where I bet the greys are lurking.

8. Managing Stress and Enjoying This Season!

This might be the most important part of all. There are so many details that go into planning a wedding- even a relatively small, intimate celebration like ours.

Between running my business, raising two kids, keeping up with my fitness routine, and planning the wedding, life has been full! I don’t want or expect everything to be perfect. I just want my kids and family and friends to all feel included and they’re an important part of our special day.

Going to church regularly and starting a meditation practice helps me keep my priorities in order. I also really try hard to slow down on the weekends and not pack our schedules so full that we get run down. Or sick!

It sounds so cliche but it’s true – I can’t wait to marry my best friend! We’ve been working on the ceremony script and it makes me even more grateful to have such a wonderful partner by my side. I’m so thankful with how involved Elliott has been in all the wedding planning.

He definitely has opinions and I really respect and value his input. He also used to work in the hotel industry, so he has a lot of experience planning events. I love that I can trust him and lean on him. He’s just the best!

If you want to hear more about our wedding venue and decor, check out this post.

I would love to hear what you did to look and feel your best on your wedding day – especially if you got married later in life and already had kids.

Now let’s go kick Monday’s booty!

Finding My Style in My 50s

I’m excited about today’s style post! Over the last few months I’ve been pinning outfit images on Pinterest so that I could really hone in on my personal style.  I’m good on casual, relaxed weekend outfits, but I was looking for more polished work from home and jeans outfits that felt more put together.

What Your Pinterest Style Board Teaches You

I think pinning images on Pinterest is a good exercise for us so that we can take stock of the images and outfits we are drawn to.  Once you have a pretty good collection, you can look through everything and get a sense of what your pinned outfits tell you:

As you look back through the outfits you’ve saved, start paying attention to a few things:

• Color palettes: Are there certain colors you keep coming back to? Do you prefer neutrals, monochromatic outfits, or pops of color?
• Silhouettes: Are you drawn to fitted tops with wider-leg pants, relaxed layers, or more structured pieces?
• Overall style: Do the outfits feel classic, feminine, casual, polished, sporty, or some combination?
• Accessories: What shoes, handbags, belts, and jewelry seem to complete the looks you love?
• Outfit formulas: Are there certain combinations you save repeatedly, like jeans with a blazer, trousers with a simple sweater, or a dress with boots?

I think identifying these patterns can be so helpful because it gives us a clearer picture of what we actually like.

Shopping With More Intention

Another benefit of doing this exercise is that it can help us become better shoppers. Instead of buying something just because it’s cute or on sale, we can ask ourselves whether it really fits the style we’re trying to create.

And before buying anything new, it’s worth taking a look at what we already own. Chances are, we have quite a few pieces in our closets that can help us recreate the looks we’ve been saving.

I’m hoping this little project will help me refine my wardrobe, make more thoughtful purchases, and develop a personal style that feels authentic to who I am in this season of life.

My Personal Style: Classic, Polished & Feminine

After spending time collecting outfit inspiration on Pinterest, I realized that I’m consistently drawn to classic, simple outfits that feel polished without being overly dressy. I love neutral colors, especially black, white, cream, and chocolate brown. These colors work beautifully together, making it easy to mix and match pieces I already own.

I’ve also noticed that I gravitate toward wide-leg jeans and trousers paired with more fitted tops. I love the balance of proportions, and it’s a silhouette that feels flattering and comfortable to me since I’m so petite.

Another thing I’ve learned is how much I appreciate the little details that pull an outfit together. A great belt, a pretty handbag, a scarf, or the right pair of shoes can take a basic outfit and make it feel so much more stylish.

Classic Mix & Match Outfit Ideas

Using my Pinterest style board for inspiration, I put together nine outfits using some of my favorite wardrobe staples.

You’ll notice several pieces repeating throughout these looks, and that’s on purpose. One of my goals is to build a wardrobe where I can create lots of different outfits without constantly buying new things. And show you how to do the same!

I also love how changing just a few accessories can completely transform an outfit. A simple black top and jeans can feel casual with flats or more elevated with heels, a belt, and a pretty handbag.

Of course, I still love fashion and trying new things! But I want to be more selective about what I buy and focus on pieces I’ll actually wear again and again.

Top • Jeans • Belt • Heels • Bag • Earrings • Bracelets • Watch

I like this style of jean so much that I have it in multiple colors. They’re the Quince Bella stretch wide leg jean and they have a high waist and feel great on. I got them in the short length so I can wear with flats or a low heel.

I also realized that I love wearing sleeveless tops as much as the weather will allow. Heck, I’ve been working on my arms for almost two years – let’s show off these guns! This top is another one I have in multiple colors. The neck is the perfect slouchiness and it’s nice and stretchy.

I definitely needed a great pair of black pants and I found these at Abercrombie! I’m in love with the fit and shape! They are perfect and I can wear them for comfortable work-from-home days to nice dinners and also church or school functions.

And since I don’t have much color or pattern in my outfit, adding a little scarf gives a bit of extra personality. It’s also worth noting how your hair style affects how an outfit looks. I like my hair pulled back here to show off the scarf more so it didn’t get lost.

Similar Top • Jeans • Boots

My friend Erin made the mum and nosegay and they both turned out beautiful! She’s also doing the decor and flowers for our wedding:)

It’s wild how much detail goes into these mums!

After dinner, we had a party bus take them to the dance and I slipped in Rhonda’s famous chocolate chip cookies! James said everyone loved them.

Elliott had a great time in San Fran and comes home today. I think he’s gonna need a few days to recover!

I’ve been getting ready for Amazon Prime Days which start tomorrow and realized that there are so many things that I use in my life everyday that are from Amazon, so I thought I would share today in case you want to get a jump on the sale.

You can find my top Amazon sale picks here!

Things I Use Every Day

Many of these things make great gifts if you have Christmas on the brain – it’s not too far off now! These are things I find so useful, and maybe you will too!

I tried to organize this list by time of day and how I use them as I go about my day. I’m sure there are so many more, but these are the ones that came to mind first without going through my entire skincare and beauty routine.

Hue Light Bulbs – These smart light bulbs were a gift to me many years ago and I still love them! I use them in my bedroom lamps as my alarm clock every day. So, instead of waking up to some kind of sound, I have the lightbulbs set to gradually turn on over 10 minutes until they are illuminating the room which wakes me up slowly. I also have these lightbulbs in several lamps around our home and even outside in the lanterns on our driveway and on the patio. You can set them to timers and also change the colors. For instance, the driveway and patio lights are set to turn on at dusk and go off at dawn.

Pill Organizer – After I wake up, the first thing I do is go into the bathroom and take my daily vitamins and prescriptions. Having the pills organized into this stylish little container keeps me on track and it’s also great for travel.

Ember Mug – If you know me, you know I go to bed looking forward to drinking my coffee first thing in the morning. I’ll go downstairs and feed the dogs, then make my coffee. I really enjoy this Ember mug because it keeps your coffee hot – to your exact desired temperature – for hours. No more being tied to a coffee warmer or having to microwave your coffee! Seriously genius!

Nespresso Machine & Pod Organizer – I started using a nespresso machine a couple years ago and will never go back! I love the delicious froth it creates and it makes the coffee so quickly and it’s always hot! So many delicious pods to choose from and I keep them organized with the pod organizer.

Stanley – I like to fill up my water bottles every morning because that ensures I drink more water throughout the day. I was way late to the Stanley game, but now I have three and really do appreciate them. So pretty, durable and functional. I take a 40oz to the gym with me and use the 30 oz at home – one upstairs and one downstairs.

Pens & Highlighters – I love to journal in the morning and I’m specific about the paper, pens and highlighters I use. These are my favorite pens and highlighters, and I think they make such a lovely small gift, especially if you give them with a pretty notebook. #772 is my favorite color!

Cleansing Balm – When it’s time to get cleaned up for the day, my favorite facial cleanser is the Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm. It’s just so luxurious and gently cleans your face so well. My skin always feels amazing and never tight after I use it. I’ve gifted this to several friends and family members in the past and everyone has loved it.

Muslin Cloth – I like these muslin cloths that come in a 10-pack and the rose color doesn’t get dingy like the white tend to.

Vitamin C Serum – If I could only use one skincare product, it would be my Vitamin C serum that I apply every single morning before any other products. It helps so much with hyperpigmentation and sunspots. I’ve been using Colleen Rothschild skincare for over 10 years now!

Sunscreen – I’m religious about putting sunscreen on my face. This one was initially sent to me by the brand and I fell in love with it. It’s also a moisturizer that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and goes on silky smooth. I have to be careful with sunscreens because some formulas break out my skin, but I’ve never had any issues with this one.

Bath Mat – it’s so nice to step out of the shower onto a plush, memory foam mat!

Hair Towels – When I wash my hair, I like to put it up wet and keep it out of my way while I get ready. These towels have a button and elastic loop so they stay put! They’re also great in the colder months so you’re not freezing with wet hair!

Tubing Mascara – Even on my ‘no makeup’ days, I still wear mascara! I love this tubing version for wiping off so cleanly at the end of the day. I also wear it to the gym!

Soft Bra – when I need to wear a bra, but don’t want to wear a bra, I opt for this soft bra and I get size small. I’m wearing it right now;)

Leggings – I like to work out first thing in the morning and these leggings are the BEST! I’m sure you’ve heard me raving about them before. They have a comfortable high waist that tucks you in and keeps everything nice and streamlined, but they aren’t constricting. They’re seamless on the sides and also squat proof. They’ve been in and out of my washing machine and dryer a million times and look as good as new. Plus, they’re about a fourth of the cost of Lululemon leggings and very similar in quality and style.

Sports Bra – CRZ Yoga also makes the sports bra I wear most often. I have them in every color!

Sneakers – These are my preferred sneakers for working out, running and walking. They are super comfortable and fit my feet perfectly. I’m on my second pair and the first ones are still wearable!

Watch Bands – I like these silicone watch bands for everyday and also for working out because they are sweat proof and easy to clean.

Joggers – At some point almost daily I’m in my joggers. I like them for changing out of ‘regular’ clothes into cozies in the evening, but before I’m ready to put on pj’s.

Password Book – As I go about my workday, you would not believe how many times I reach for this little password book! It was a gift from Rhonda years ago and still something I treasure and would be lost without!

Soap Dispensers & Silicone Tray – I feel like I’m washing my hands 50 times a day and your hand soap and dish soap looks so much prettier when it’s decanted into a pretty container. These glass amber soap dispensers have held up amazingly well and I keep them contained on this silicone tray.

Marble Bowl – Another thing I keep in my kitchen is this marble bowl, which is great for holding my rings, bracelets & eyeglasses when I take them off to do kitchen chores. It’s such a pretty decorative item. It looks great on top of a stack of books, on a nightstand or end table.

Silverware – I’m so happy with the gorgeous hammered silverware I got on Amazon. I’ve had them about a year now and wash them in the dishwasher and they still look good as new! Rhonda told me she got it too after I shared it and she loves hers too.

Always Pan – I use my beloved Always Pan every single day to cook my egg scramble!

Swedish Dish Cloths – I prefer these for wiping counters because they don’t hold onto odors!

Ugg Throw Blanket – Ali-Shaun recommended this UGG throw blanket to me a few years ago and she was right on the money! It’s so plush and cozy and now I have two. I use them to sit on, cuddle with or just layer on the bed or couch.

Match Cloche & Candle – I love the ambience of a lit candle in the evening, so after dinner, I always light a few around the house. The Sweet Water Decor jar candles are a fave and I buy different ones for different seasons. The match cloche with a candle is such a nice gift!

Book Light – I like to read before bed, but prefer to use a little book light so as to not have such a bright light in the room. If your friend likes to read, a book light, bookmark, and her favorite genre of book would be a lovely gift.

Red Light Therapy Mask – I don’t use this every day, but about every other day. Once I started using it consistently and saw the benefits to my skin, I’ve been more committed to using it regularly. It’s also helped reduce the appearance of the scars around my eyes. I like how comfortable it is and it auto shuts off after 10 minutes.

Tatcha Lip Mask – Dabbing a bit of Tatcha’s lip mask onto your lips at night before bed feels like a self care ritual.  Not only is the product itself luxurious and rich, the lip mask comes in a pretty little glass pot.  I keep it on my nightstand and apply it every single night before I get into bed. It makes a sweet little stocking stuffer and teacher gift.

Now let’s go kick Monday’s booty!

The post 25 Things I Use Everyday appeared first on Honey We're Home.

Last weekend, I went to the bookstore for a couple hours by myself and it was HEAVEN! I may have to do that again. I got two books and the novel I couldn’t put down. I finished it in two days! I liked it so much that I just ordered the companion cookbook.

I also got the Genius Recipes cookbook, probably because the waffles looked mouth watering!

Sweater • Jeans • Mules • Necklace • Ring

Sweater – you even loved this oversized sweater from a few years back, cute and so cozy!

Also want to include this amazing sale I spotted at J. Crew Factory! Today through the weekend everything is 40%-70% plus 60% off clearance! This is their best sale of the season and I couldn’t resist these style steals and placed an order.

The Dress Before the Dress

And, y’all – I’m so happy! I found the dress before the dress! Y’all may remember these two long wedding gown styles I tried on but ultimately decided against because I didn’t want to have to deal with another alteration. And, I wanted to be able to wear it more than once. So, back to the drawing board and I hunted and ordered a few more cocktail style dresses.

I loved this lace romper and lace dress, but ultimately fell in love with this one!

Dress • Heels

It’s so pretty and fits will and I feel great in it! And, I can take it on our honeymoon in Cabo!

Last week I took advantage of a diet break, indulged in lots of yummy ice cream and shared all the details in my latest vlog if you want to check it out.

Diet Break Vlog

Monday was definitely a Monday, I didn’t realize I wore mismatched socks to the gym until I started lifting weights!

Was wearing the quarter sock style – I especially like those on leg day when I’m doing cable exercises because they protect my heels very well.

Socks • Quarter Socks • Sneakers • Shorts • Resistance Bands • AirPods • Stanley • Tripod

Socks use code HONEY25 for 25% off sitewide

Sneakers • Quarter Socks

Sports Bra • Leggings • Sneakers

Creatine • Decanter Jar • Fit Peptide • Stanley

I’m still taking 5 mg of creatine and my Fit peptide every morning. I love the way the original Fit tastes like orange and it has 100 mg of caffeine so it gives my workout a little pep. But, they recently came out with a caffeine-free version in the pineapple coconut version that I want to try.

At night, about an hour before bed, I take this magnesium + lemon balm. It helps support sleep and the lemon balm has a calming effect on the nervous system.

Pod Organizer (back in stock!) • Decaf Pods • Fave Pods

And, if I want a little something or way to help wind down without eating anything, I’ll make a decaf coffee. The gold pods are decaf and I get them on Amazon.

Cloche

Taking a second to light a candle at the end of the day is also a great way to relax and unwind.

I don’t know where I’ve been, but fishwife tuna not only has the cutest packaging, they make all kinds of flavored tuna. So far, I’ve tried the olive oil and Spanish Lemon and have not been disappointed. I make tuna sandwiches with them, but my friend Kelly told me they’re great in a pasta salad too.

Top • Jeans

Wore my new floral peplum top to church on Sunday and to my mom’s bday lunch and got lots of compliments. You can use my code MEGAN20 for 20% off sitewide.

The Original Guggle Water Jug

Many of you spotted my Guggle Jug in my kitchen and were curious about it. Elliott and I found it on our trip to Round Top and he thought it was the funniest thing. A waitress poured our water from it and we realized it made a ‘guggle’ sound. It comes in all kinds of colors and may just be my very different favorite thing this year!

Biom Starter Kit • Wipe Refill

I use the Biom wipes daily both in my bathroom and in my kitchen and I love how the dispenser is pretty enough to keep out on the counter. They come in every color and the wipes are 100% plant based and made of simple ingredients. They’re also biodegradable.

Dish & Hand Soap Set • Wipes

Air & Fabric Freshener

This air freshener is the best-smelling one I’ve tried and it’s a clean product. It neutralizes odors in the air and is also safe to linger on fabrics.

Sunglasses • Nose Pads

We were out to brunch with some friends last weekend and my girlfriend Jamie had these little nose pads on her glasses that I asked her about. She said they help bump the glasses up a little so that you don’t get any line across the bridge of your nose.

I ordered them immediately because I always get that annoying line and it takes forever to go away. These things are great!

Top • Jeans • Sandals (on sale!) • Necklace

I hope you have a fantastic weekend friend!

I really can’t wait for October!! Have a fantastic day friend!

The post Most Loved | September appeared first on Honey We're Home.

It’s been nice to loosen the reins while still being mindful of what I’m eating. I plan to keep this going moving forward and will share all the details in next week’s vlog. I really appreciate you following along there!

And since it’s officially fall and almost October, I have comfort food on my mind. Today, I’m sharing three of my favorite soups – a classic noodle soup, a hearty lentil soup and a crock pot white chicken chili (not technically a soup, but you do eat it in a bowl;)

Easy Healing Noodle Soup

I love this soup whenever I want something warm and comforting. It’s especially handy during cold and flu season. It’s easy to make and the leftovers are delicious too.

Easy Healing Noodle Soup

Perfect for sore throats, under-the-weather days, or a cozy lunch.

Ingredients

• 8 cups chicken broth
• 2 celery stalks, chopped
• 1 yellow onion, diced
• 1 (12 oz) bag frozen peas & carrots
• 2 cups egg noodles
• 1 chicken bouillon cube
• Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Heat cooking spray in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Add onion and celery and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until softened and fragrant.
3. Pour in chicken broth and add the chicken bouillon cube. Stir until dissolved and bring to a gentle simmer.
4. Add the frozen peas and carrots and cook for 5 minutes.
5. Stir in egg noodles and cook according to package directions (usually 6–8 minutes) until tender.
6. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve warm.

Crock Pot Lentil Soup

I’ve been making this soup for so long that I previously featured it on my second blog – Honey We’re Healthy – many, many years ago. I don’t even have that blog anymore, but the soup is still great!

Lentils are an exceptionally healthy, nutrient-dense superfood that provide a rich mix of plant-based protein, fiber, and essential minerals.  They’re complex carbohydrates, and low in fat and calories.

INGREDIENTS (from America’s Test Kitchen)

–  2 medium onions , minced
–  4 medium garlic cloves
–  2 TBS Extra-virgin olive oil (for serving, optional)
–  1TBS tomato paste
–  1/2 ounce dried porcini mushrooms, soaked, rinsed and minced
–  1 1/2 tsp minced fresh thyme leaves , or 1 teaspoon dried
–  Salt and pepper to taste
–  4 cups vegetable broth
–  4 cups chicken broth
–  4 slices of bacon
–  3 carrots, chopped into 1/2 inch chunks
–  12 ounces portobello mushroom caps, gills removed, cut into 1/2-inch chunks (I used sliced bella mushrooms)
–  1 cup brown or green lentils (1 cup), rinsed and picked over
–  1 bay leaf (not pictured)
–  8 oz. Swiss chard leaves only (I used collard greens)

To maximize the flavor of the soup, I cooked the first few ingredients (onion, garlic, thyme, bacon, tomato sauce, porcini mushrooms) on the stove for about five minutes, but the recipe says you can have the same effect by microwaving those same ingredients for 5 minutes.

Lentils are a great source of protein with about 3 grams of protein per tablespoon.

Stir both broths, bacon mixture, carrots, fresh mushrooms, lentils and bay leaf into slow cooker.  Cover and cook on low until the soup is thickened and the lentils are tender, 9 to 11 hours. (Alternatively, cover and cook on high for 5 to 7 hours.) I did the high heat.

When the soup has about 30 minutes left to cook, remove the bacon and bay leaf, and add in the chopped swiss chard (I used greens because my store was out of chard).

At the end, season to taste with salt and pepper and drizzle in a bit more olive oil.  I served ours with toasted French bread, but a healthier option would be to skip it or use whole wheat.

EASY WHITE CHICKEN CHILI RECIPE

This is a simple slow cooker dish with a different spin on a traditional chili because it’s made with healthy chicken breast and white beans. Definitely garnish your chili with some of these toppings (avocado, sour cream, cheese, green onions, and/or a squeeze of lime) to take it to the next level!

Click here to print White Chicken Chili recipe

The awesome thing about a slow cooker meal is the obvious.  You just dump all the ingredients into the pot in the morning, and you have a delicious, piping hot meal ready to go by dinner time.  There’s minimal clean up and you didn’t have to spend a lot of time slaving over a hot stove.

I have done this with both cooked and uncooked chicken. We had a rotisserie chicken on-hand this time around so we used that!

After 8 – 10 hours of being productive while your chili cooks, garnish with some of these toppings (avocado, sour cream, cheese, green onions, and/or a squeeze of lime) to take it to the next level!

What are you making lately? I’d love to hear. If you get a chance to make any of these recipes, let me know!

Now let’s go kick Monday’s booty!

Natori Bliss Bra – my go to everyday bras. Both are very comfy with good support and undetectable under your thinnest tees.

Top • Jeans • Wedges • Necklace • Bracelets

Loft Jeans – these definitely run big so I recommend sizing down one or even two, but you were still into them!

Pull on Pants – spotted these on Anthro, love them for fall from leopard print to the pop of cobalt

Lashes • Lash Glue (dries clear) • Hat • Vest • Tank • Skort • Necklace • Bracelets • Earrings

Falsies – I’ve been wearing these and they’re just so pretty and naturally enhancing

New Early Fall Amazon Styles

And onto the early fall styles. If you’re in the south like me, we won’t see true fall temps for awhile, but at least the mornings are cooling off! We’ll take what we can get!

Top • Jeans • Wedges • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

I really like the knit top, it’s lightweight and in this pretty burnt orange color. So cute for any UT fans. I’m wearing with my favorite Flying Banana jeans that Ali-Shaun and I love so much.

Top Fit: I’m wearing a Small

Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 2 Short

Top • Jeans • Wedges • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Vest • Top • Jeans • Wedges • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

How cute is this little vest?! It feels like a thicker almost corduroy material and I think the petite florals are just so sweet. It also has a cute trim and tie detail.

Since it is pretty open I’m wearing it with a tank underneath.

Vest • Top • Jeans • Wedges • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

I actually wore this little vest in Round Top with a little skort. I think it looks great with jeans and when it cools off you can wear with long sleeves underneath.

Vest • Top • Jeans • Wedges • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Jacket • Top • Jeans • Belt • Flats • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

These are also Flying Banana jeans that I love! They’re so comfortable and came with a raw edge hem, but I cut them even shorter so I could wear them with my knit flats.

I’m wearing them with this jean jacket that I’m loving because it feels more true to size and not too oversized.

Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 2

Vest • Top • Jeans • Belt • Flats • Necklace • Bracelets

I think I’m on a little equestrian quick coming back from Round Top. I found these two really cute little sweaters with horses on the front.

This one is a sleeveless cardigan that buttons up the front.

Sweater Fit: I’m wearing a Small

Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a size 2

Vest • Top • Jeans • Belt • Flats • Necklace • Bracelets

Top • Jeans • Booties • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Here’s the second horse top and I like it even more, it’s just so cute! I really love styles that aren’t too hot because it doesn’t get too cool in Houston until later in the year.

I’m wearing them with an oldie, but a goodie Amazon jeans. They’re super high waisted, no pockets, so nice and slimming and give you legs for days.

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Jeans Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Top • Jeans • Belt • Booties • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

These knit tops are great work to weekend styles. The v-neck isn’t too low cut and looks polished. The brown is really pretty for fall, and I tucked it for a dressed up and longer leg line.

Jeans Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Top • Jeans • Booties • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

This is another sleeveless sweater style and I do like it, but it’s clearly very long! It also has a little notch side detail, but I think adding a belt may help.

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Jeans Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Top • Jeans • Belt • Booties • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Here it is with a belt right at my high waist. I think it does help a bit and adds visual interest.

Top • Jeans • Belt • Booties • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

I still have that same belt here, but bloused the top over. I think this is really pretty and is a nice little hack if you have a tunic style or something you don’t want to wear as full length.

Top • Jeans • Booties • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Okay I’m so into this peplum style polka dot top, so fun! The bandeau style is great for showing off necklaces and I’m wearing with my high waisted jeans.

I think this is perfect for date night, dinner or a girls night out!

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Jeans Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Top • Jeans • Booties • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Dress • Heels • Necklace • Bracelets

Sticking with the polka dots and bandeau styles. This midi dress is darling, nice and flowy, comes in at the waist and comfortable smocked back.

It’s also staying up so comfortably, so I feel good in this without worrying about adjusting.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Dress • Heels • Necklace • Bracelets

Dress • Belt • Heels • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

This dress is cute for fall. I like the flowy mini skirt, comfy smocked bodies and sheer sleeves so it’s nice and lightweight.

I felt like this one needed a belt, but not sure how I feel about this one. Maybe something a little bit darker?

Dress Fit: I’m wearing a Small

Dress • Belt • Heels • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Dress • Heels • Necklace • Bracelets

I’m smitten with this dress, I think it’s perfect for early fall. It’s nice and lightweight, and the florals are in these pretty darker colors so great for fall. It buttons up the front with a little polished color, and comes with a matching belt.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Dress • Heels • Necklace • Bracelets

Dress • Wedges • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

I ordered these two denim dresses with Round Top in mind, but didn’t get to share them with you. I like this so much more on, much cuter than I expected!

I really like the smocked waist that comes in to fit and flatter. I got the darker wash, but comes in so many more to choose from.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Dress • Wedges • Bag • Necklace • Bracelets

Dress • Wedges • Necklace • Bracelets

I also got this midi style, but almost maxi length on me. This material feels a little thinner and lighter weight than the other, but also a little bit looser. I think I would prefer a size down in this.

It has a cute split neck, pockets, nice and flowy for beautiful movement and feels really good on.
