Al Amir Exotic Triple Apple Flavored Hookah Tobacco

This was another flavor that was given to me courtesy of Nima here at Hookah Lounge. This is the first flavor I have tried from the Exotic line by Al Amir. This is their “premium” line and so far it’s treated me pretty well. This is a triple apple flavor which means that it’s a sweet apple flavor with only a hint of anise as opposed to the double apple flavor which is heavily spiced. The tobacco was dripping wet and finely chopped. I smoked this out of my Khalil Mamoon double trimetal in a vortex bowl with three coconut coals and regular foil. I figured it would be able to handle some good heat and I was right. Wet tobacco like this is usually fairly heat resistant. The clouds were impressive and dense. The flavor was a light apple flavor at the beginning that picked up one the heat worked it’s way through the bowl. Once warmed up I would say it was a light-medium apple flavor with a distinct sweetness. There is still a little bit of anise flavor but it is barely there and only serves to make the smoke a little more complex.

I would give this blend a 7. My major problem was how light the flavor was. If it were stronger I would be a big fan of this flavor and would recommend it to everyone looking for a good apple flavor. There were just too many times that the flavor faded to almost nothing while smoking and the flavor did not last for the full hour that the coals did.

Starbuzz Coconut Flavored Hookah Tobacco

Recently I was gifted some Starbuzz Coconut by our friend Nima of Hookahlounge.net. i have mixed feelings about this flavor. I have had a couple different coconut flavored tobaccos in the past and they have all been pretty lack luster. This tobacco is pretty much the best coconut tobacco I have had so far. Out of the can the scent is a lot like sun tan lotion or tanning oil. Happily the flavor was quite a bit different. It tasted like a sweetened coconut with a bit of a fruity note.

I smoked this out of my small funnel bowl with normal foil and from my KM double trimetal.

All in all it was a good experience. The only problem was that the flavor was a bit oily and cloying. After a good amount of smoking this flavor was a bit too much for myself and some of my friends. It just got to be too much.

I would give this favor a 7. I liked it but I believe it would be better as a mixer.

Starbuzz Lemon Tea Flavored Hookah Tobacco

Thanks to our friend Nima I got my hands on some Starbuzz Lemon Tea. This flavor was nice but I had my issues. I was smoking this blend out of my funnel for a couple reasons. Firstly I love my funnel bowl and it smokes nicely but mostly it was because the 100g sample was full of stems. It was impossible to pack this into a normal bowl. This is not going to happen with every pack of Starbuzz you get but it’s something to consider. I used normal foil and was smoking using my Khalil Mamoon double trimetal.

The flavor was great and it smoked fine. The clouds were large and indeed in charge. The flavor was nice and accurate. It was mostly tea flavors with a hint of lemon in the background. I suggest this flavor to just about anyone. It’s not overly fruity and may not appeal to those that are only interested in fruity and overly sweet blends but it’s a nice change of pace without entirely moving over to spice flavors.

Hookah-Hookah Hazelnut Flavored Hookah Tobacco

I have been a fan on Hookah-Hookah for a while. It’s good stuff but it has some problems as all brands of hookah tobacco do. The major problem with Hookah-Hookah is light flavor. Not every flavor suffers from this. Some are damn strong. A lot of their blends have an accurate flavor but it’s very hard to find that balance of accuracy and strength. Hazelnut is kind of in the middle. Hazelnut is a light flavor on it’s own but I would say that this is a medium strength flavor. I smoked this one out of a vortex bowl with a single layer of foil and have tried it out of both my Trimetal and my Nour Syrian. The results are pleasant and enjoyable. It has a distinct hazelnut flavor that is fairly accurate and decently strong. It’s smooth and sweet with a distinct hazelnut flavor.

I like this flavor and think that it is another great offering from Hookah-Hookah. It’s perfectly nice to smoke along but I have found great use for it as a mixer. The only issue there is that because it’s not the strongest flavor it can get overwhelmed easily.

I give Hookah-Hookah hazelnut a 7 out of ten.

Romman Double Apple Flavored Hookah Tobacco

Brand and flavor: Romman Double Apple

This is a classic flavor that the majority of hookah tobacco companies have replicated. It is one of the most smoked flavors in the world and considered to be one of the most classic flavors. The Romman version of this flavor is… ok. I hadvaried results with it. When I first bought this flavor it tasted like straight licorice. I hated it and left it sitting in my hookah closet in a sealed tupperware container for many months. eventually i got the courage to try it again and the flavor had mellowed out into something nice a enjoyable. Romman is a brand that varies quite a bit. From batch to batch the flavors I have experienced from them can change quite a bit so I am unsure if the current double apple they are selling is exactly the same but the batch I got needed to be aired out for a while to make it worth smoking. If you like double apple you can find better blends that do not require waiting for the flavor to mellow out.

I would give this flavor a 5. Once the flavor mellowed out and became smokeable it was good. When I first bought it the licorice flavor was all that I could taste. Firstly, the licorice flavor should be more of a natural anise flavor. Secondly the flavor should not require so much extra time to be enjoyable.

Brand and Flavor: Fusion apple Pie

This flavor is somehing interesting. It’s a fairly unbalanced combination of a green apple flavor and a slight cinnamon. It’s tasty but it’s not really an accurate apple pie flavor. I have smoked this out of a standard Egyptian bowl and a vortex with similar results in both. There was not a big difference in flavor between the two but the vortex behaved a little better with this one because it’s so wet. I used the same foil I usually do. Just basic foil in one layer and with a lot of small holes. This flavor is nice and I would suggest to to anyone that is intersted in a spiced apple flavor. Honesty being there are better options though. The apple is just a mediocre apple and the spice is lack luster. If I want an apple pie like flavor I will take a decent apple and a good spice mix and blend it myself.

All in all I would give this one a 6.

Hookah Type: KM double trimetal. Nammor hose

Duration: 2 hours

Bowl: Vortex bowl

Foil / Screen: Regular foil

Coal / Amount: 3 or 4 CH QL coals depending on the necessity.

Smoke: Awesome smoke. Very thick and dense. A strong mouth feel.

Buzz: Medium. It’s nice and relaxing.

Smell / Flavor: It smells like creamy cinnamon and molasses. The flavor is similar but a bit light.

Rating (1 to 10): 8 I am giving this tobacco a solid rating. It’s a very tasty and very resilient tobacco. This is a nice spice flavor with a distinct cream like feel. It’s tasty and lives up to the noir version. I prefer the noir by a little bit because the tobacco flavors actually blend well with the horchata flavors. When I have the option there is very little I prefer over a mix of lucid horchata mixed with noir horchata about 50/50 with each other. If you are a fan of spice flavored tobacco then I suggest picking this one up. It’s great and easy to work with.

Bowl: Vortex bowl

Foil / Screen: Regular foil

Coal / Amount: 3 or 4 CH QL coals depending on the necessity.

Smoke: Awesome smoke. Very thick and dense. A strong mouth feel.

Buzz: Medium. It’s nice and relaxing.

Smell / Flavor: It smells like peaches. It’s a nice balance between natural peach and candied peaches. The flavor is more toward the end of natural and strong.

Rating (1 to 10): 8.5 This is the best peach flavor I have ever found. It’s a nice and sweet peach with a slight flavor that is like the skin of a peach. It’s very tasty. I docked the score by a half point because the flavor could be a bit too sweet for really long smoking sessions. I would prefer a very natural peach flavor rather than one that tastes like peaches in syrup. The other point deduction is the usual one for improvement. It’s a damn good flavor and a great tobacco but it’s not a ten. I am going to push this tobacco and see how long I can smoke it for. If you are looking for a peach flavor this is one of the best I have found. It lives up to it’s name and is strong and accurate. It’s very heat resistant and a versatile tobacco that I am going to suggest to people who want a good peach.

Smell / Flavor: It smells like strawberry jam. The flavor is similar. It’s kind of like breathing over a pot of strawberries and sugar cooking on the stove.

Rating (1 to 10): 7 I still have not found the perfect strawberry but I am discovering some interesting attempts along the way. This flavor has a distinctly natural quality to it. It oes not taste like artificial strawberry. Rather it tastes like preserved strawberries. The combination of molasses and strawberry flavors makes it taste kind of like dehydrated strawberry. It must sound like this is the best strawberry flavor on teh market but it has the same problem that most strawberry flavors have. It’s weak. I can taste the flavor and, unlike many other strawberries, I can actually say that it tastes like strawberry. But it’s still too light. I just think that strawberry is not a flavor meant to translate well into tobacco. As a complimenting flavor it’s wonderful. As a standalone strawberry just does not have the strength to hold up.

Smoke: Awesome smoke. Very thick and dense. A strong mouth feel.

Buzz: Brutal. Strong and powerful.

Smell / Flavor: It smells like peach and tea. It really is a peach iced tea flavor and scent.

Rating (1 to 10): 8 This is a good flavor. It tastes a little sweet with nice flavors of peach and tea. It is accurate and strong. It’s not artificial in any way and lasts a long time. I was expecting a stronger peach flavor but the dominant flavor in this blend is the tea. It’s great but I was hoping for a little more peach. This is a very strong blend and it will knock you through a loop. Of all the Tangiers I have tried this is one of the most problematic. It needs to be smoked lightly and with a little reservation or else you could easily get hit with a bout of nicotine sickness. It can be a bit harsh on the lungs as well. I docked it a couple points because of these couple factors.
