Smell / Flavor:  It smells like creamy cinnamon and molasses.  The flavor is similar but a bit light.

Rating (1 to 10):  8  I am giving this tobacco a solid rating.  It’s a very tasty and very resilient tobacco.  This is a nice spice flavor with a distinct cream like feel.  It’s tasty and lives up to the noir version.  I prefer the noir by a little bit because the tobacco flavors actually blend well with the horchata flavors.  When I have the option there is very little I prefer over a mix of lucid horchata mixed with noir horchata about 50/50 with each other.  If you are a fan of spice flavored tobacco then I suggest picking this one up.  It’s great and easy to work with.

Smell / Flavor:  It smells like peaches.  It’s a nice balance between natural peach and candied peaches.  The flavor is more toward the end of natural and strong.

Rating (1 to 10):  8.5  This is the best peach flavor I have ever found.  It’s a nice and sweet peach with a slight flavor that is like the skin of a peach.  It’s very tasty.  I docked the score by a half point because the flavor could be a bit too sweet for really long smoking sessions.  I would prefer a very natural peach flavor rather than one that tastes like peaches in syrup.  The other point deduction is the usual one for improvement.  It’s a damn good flavor and a great tobacco but it’s not a ten.  I am going to push this tobacco and see how long I can smoke it for.  If you are looking for a peach flavor this is one of the best I have found.  It lives up to it’s name and is strong and accurate.  It’s very heat resistant and a versatile tobacco that I am going to suggest to people who want a good peach.

Smell / Flavor:  It smells like strawberry jam.  The flavor is similar.  It’s kind of like breathing over a pot of strawberries and sugar cooking on the stove.

Rating (1 to 10):  7  I still have not found the perfect strawberry but I am discovering some interesting attempts along the way.  This flavor has a distinctly natural quality to it.  It oes not taste like artificial strawberry.  Rather it tastes like preserved strawberries.  The combination of molasses and strawberry flavors makes it taste kind of like dehydrated strawberry.  It must sound like this is the best strawberry flavor on teh market but it has the same problem that most strawberry flavors have.  It’s weak.  I can taste the flavor and, unlike many other strawberries, I can actually say that it tastes like strawberry.  But it’s still too light.  I just think that strawberry is not a flavor meant to translate well into tobacco.  As a complimenting flavor it’s wonderful.  As a standalone strawberry just does not have the strength to hold up.

Buzz:  Brutal.  Strong and powerful.

Smell / Flavor:  It smells like peach and tea.  It really is a peach iced tea flavor and scent.

Rating (1 to 10):  8  This is a good flavor.  It tastes a little sweet with nice flavors of peach and tea.  It is accurate and strong.  It’s not artificial in any way and lasts a long time.  I was expecting a stronger peach flavor but the dominant flavor in this blend is the tea.  It’s great but I was hoping for a little more peach.  This is a very strong blend and it will knock you through a loop.  Of all the Tangiers I have tried this is one of the most problematic.  It needs to be smoked lightly and with a little reservation or else you could easily get hit with a bout of nicotine sickness.  It can be a bit harsh on the lungs as well.  I docked it a couple points because of these couple factors.

Smoke:  Awesome smoke.  Very thick and dense. A strong mouth feel.

Buzz:  Light buzz.  It can creep up on you if you are not careful.

Smell / Flavor:  It smells like rose and tastes like rose.  Simple as that.

Rating (1 to 10):  7 I am giving this on a 7 based on the wide spread appeal of the flavor.  I love rose flavors but frankly this is not the best I have ever had and a lot of people can’t stand rose alone.  It treat me nicely but at times can be a bit too much to smoke for long periods of time.  The flavor is accurate without being too chemical or soapy.  It tastes like rose water.  Real rose ptals have a slightly acidic quality to them that I really enjoy.  If you are looking for a good rose flavor this is a very good option.  If you are looking for a great rose flavor then take a step up and try the Golden Rose by Al Fakher.  It’s one of the best in my opinion but it’s a little more expensive.  For those hunting for a bargain then basic Al fakher rose is a great buy.

Smoke:  Awesome smoke.  Very thick and dense. A strong mouth feel and often unpleasant sensation in the lungs.

Buzz:  Light buzz.  It can creep up on you if you are not careful.

Smell / Flavor:  It smells like chocolate and tastes like chocolate with a slightly smokey and bitter after taste.

Rating (1 to 10):  5 I enjoy a good western pipe now and again.  I am also a cigar smoker.  When I first heard about this blend I was excited.  Sadly the flavor that is implied by the name is nothing close to what you can expect.  I am docking this one for inaccurate flavor and for it’s issues with the now infamous throat tickle associated with the new Al Fakher.  Not entirely unpleasant regarding flavor but it works better as a mixer to avoid the heat management issues that it has and to add a little chcolate flavor to a blend.  Alone it’s a bit too cloying at times.  This blend was improved by a little acclimation but not to the point of raising the score.

Smoke:  Awesome smoke.  Very thick and dense.  The ring potential is large.

Buzz:  Light buzz.  Typical Hookah-Hookah or Hookah Freak

Smell / Flavor:  This is a custom blend I designed that is two parts hazel nut, one part graham cracker, one part 7 spice and one part peanut butter.  It smells like a spiced peanut butter cookie.  It tastes much the same.

Rating (1 to 10):  9  I am a little biased but this blend became an instant favorite for me.  It’s slightly sweet without being cloying.  It has a great spice character and a slight peanut taste.  All the flavors blend nicely while having their own distinct character.  As you go throgh the session different flavors will present themselves in varying strengths.  I tailored this flavor to my tastes and it took a while to get the proper ratios down.  Now that I have it the way I want I decided to share it with those people that will lend me their ear.  I also submitted this for the 2009 Hookah-Hookah blend off because it’s comprised entirely of Hookah-Hookah flavors.  I suggest trying out the mix if you have the components.  It’s well worth your time.

Smoke:  Ok smoke.  Nothing amazing but not too bad.

Buzz:  Light buzz

Smell / Flavor:  Smells like cough syrup, which is about what I expect from a cherry hookah tobacco.  The flavor is lacking and does not taste like cherry.  It barely tasted like cough syrup.

Rating (1 to 10):  5 I give this one a middle of the road rating.  The flavor was not like a real cherry, which would be a deduction on it’s own, nor did it taste like artificial cherry.  So that brings it down to about a six all on it’s own.  Then there is the matter of the smoke.  I have been spoiled by tobacco that produces good flavor and large clouds.  The smoke from this was medium and not all that impressive.  That’s the last point that drops it to a five.  So there you have it.  If you want a cherry flavor there are lots of other options.  Check it out if you want to here but there are much better cherry flavors out there.

Smoke:  Great smoke.  Pretty big clouds and a good mouth feel.

Buzz:  Medium to light buzz

Smell / Flavor:  Smells like mint.  No big surprises there.  It tastes like a good, sweet and smooth mint flavor.  It’s slightly artificial and does not taste like chewing on a plant in the mint family but it is damn good.

Rating (1 to 10): 8 on the mint scale.  It is hard to judge pure mint flavors against other non-mint flavors.  As far as mint flavored tobaccos go this is a good option.  I have had mints that tasted entirely like gum and I have had mints that reminded me of chewing on an actual leaf of a mint plant.  This is somewhere in the middle.  It does not have the distinctly plant like quality that something like Nakhla mint has but it’s not entirely fake either.  It’s like a sweetened mint extract.  If you are looking for a good solid mint then you can do far worse than Al Fakher mint.  I suggest it to those who want a mint that is flavorful but not going to burn every time you draw on it.

Can I take my hookah home? Will the airline allow me to carry it on, or do I have to stick it down below the plane so it can just get broken? Breathe easy, because most airlines don’t even know what a hookah is. After researching, five out of seven airlines couldn’t confirm that they knew what a hookah was. When explaining the hookah to the advocate, I described it as a pipe. I mentioned that it was about twenty five inches long, but could be taken apart into two pieces to equal about fifteen inches long, and ten inches wide.

When it came down to it, I was assured time after time that as long as it met the average airline carryon bag limit of forty five linear inches, it would be allowed on the plane with no problems. I asked for recommendations on how to get through security with no problems, and the advocate laughed. She basically said that I need to make sure the hookah is clean, has no sharp objects and is not broken. If the security officers deem it as a weapon, it will not be allowed on the plane. As obvious as I thought that was, I hadn’t thought about that yet. Would someone mistake a hookah for a weapon? I don’t think someone would be that desperate or protective.

Altogether, the answer is yes. There’s nothing wrong with bringing a hookah on a plain. In fact, I would even recommend smoking that hookah when you get home. There’s nothing like taking care of jet lag by smoking a nice bowl of shisha in your brand new imported dream hookah.
