Cutting: Bleeding the Pain Away

If you’re a cutter, you know what it’s like to feel the pain welling up inside you. It feels like any second you’re going to explode. In the past you may have cried, gotten angry, accused, complied, or blamed yourself, but now you cut. You’ve prayed, asking God to change things, to make you want to stop cutting, but you feel as if your prayers stopped at the ceiling. You don’t pray anymore.

Unlike the emotional pain, you control the physical pain created by cutting. You know it’s not normal to get relief by cutting, but it does bring release and nothing else seems to work. You reason, “Why would I give it up when nothing else works?” In your heart however, you know that this doesn’t work either. You are having to cut deeper and deeper, more and more frequently.

Join us as we Putt for Hope!

De Pere, WI. HopeNet 360, a non-profit organization that hosts an internet crisis chatline for teens and young adults, is hosting a mini-golf fundraiser at Duck Creek Golf Center.

HopeNet 360's "Putt For Hope" event runs Saturday, July 23rd at Duck Creek Golf Center in Green Bay. The event runs from 10am to 2pm and is open to the public. The “Putt For Hope” event provides a free round of 18-hole mini golf, a sloppy jo lunch with beverage, a raffle ticket and dunk tank ticket.

Participants have two options to choose from in order to participate in Putt For Hope. Option 1, or "Sponsored Golfers", raise pledges and are eligible for grand prizes for the top three golfers in collected pledges. Any golfer who raises a minimum of $100 will receive a free T-shirt and CD, compliments of HopeNet 360 and Q90 FM. Option 2, or "Pay to Play" golfers, pay $20 per golfer at the event. A family gets in for $60. Additional family members pay $5 per golfer. "Pay to Play" golfers are not eligible for prizes aside from the raffle ticket he or she receives upon registering at the event.

To meet the needs of hurting teenagers across the country, Groundwire, a current and innovative outreach, has become a ministry where teens find comfort, guidance, and answers delivered through multi-media communication. Groundwire leverages media and technology to meet teens exactly where they are — viewing, listening, texting, or chatting — and to invite them to voice their questions and struggles so they can find answers in the message of the Gospel.

Q: What motivated you to create the ministry of Groundwire?
