Horrorbid.com – New Scream 4 fan made poster wows Woodsboro

The film was delayed and it was announced that the delay was because the movie was getting the Post-Conversion 3D treatment (*pukes*). It has since been announced that they backed out of converting it to 3D and that a theatrical release is set for January 14, 2011.

Between all of this and the news about casting, the secrecy of the plot, etc., waiting to find out what the film is actually about was maddening. Why keep reading news about something we know nothing about? Well, about a year ago, /Film ran an article that was somehow the only piece of news I didn’t catch, revealing the plot of the film. Somehow, I stumbled across the article recently and didn’t feel as bad about missing it as the article is kind of cryptic itself.

So, without having to scan the lengthy article, here is a basic, mildly spoilerish synopsis:

A group of young adults venture out to a cabin in the woods, which is rigged with cameras and crazy props, like a haunted funhouse.

The plot will have to be revealed in the marketing right? While it sounds slightly underwhelming and doesn’t nearly live up to the hype that has overshadowed the film itself, it still sounds really entertaining if nothing else.

Before we add fuel to the hype-fire, it has been pointed out many times now that the focus of the film is on the relationship between the two main characters. It isn’t an FX extravaganza with giant action sequences. So, hopefully that diffused some of the hype, but we’re still pretty excited to see the film regardless.

The limited theatrical release was just announced for Oct 29th. Magnet will distribute. In celebration of the theatrical announcement, here is a small collection of the coverage so far:

Plot

Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America. Soon after new life forms began to appear there and half of Mexico was quarantined as an “Infected Zone.”

Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain “the creatures”… The story begins when a US journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.
