The Icons collection by Stable Style has arrived. I’ve been working on this collection since November of last year and dreaming it up for even longer. Creating a candle or product from scratch takes a substantial amount of time, money, and trial and error. But it’s so rewarding when it’s done. Sample making is expensive, frustrating and exciting.  It also feels like it takes forever, but that’s just part of the process. The jar colors and tube sizes changed a couple of times, much to my surprise. Sometimes things just look different in real life, and that’s part of the process.  Deciding on new scents was the extremely fun part. I headed into the scent library with notes in mind, which made the process easier. I smelled close to 100 scents, narrowed it down to 6 test scents and selected my top 4 favorites from there. Fast forward through a lot of stress and unexpected headaches, and I present you with my beautiful new line.

The candles are playful yet sophisticated, poured in heavy rounded glass jars accented with gold icons from Stable Style artwork. Each scent feels truly magical—and every candle was hand-poured in Los Angeles at the very same studio trusted by luxury brands.

The new scents are Shine, (cowboy boot icon) Spirit (horse icon), Lucky (horseshoe icon) and Bloom (cactus icon).

I took one of my empty Luxe Barn candle jars from Stable Style, cleaned it out and added strike paper to the bottom of the candle jar. The result is a stunning vessel to display that’s also functional. As a horse girl, this is one of my favorite ways to reuse Stable Style candle jars. Strike paper comes in round or strips of paper with an adhesive background, making it easy to apply.

I used 100 pink tipped 4″ safety matches to fill up my jar. You can also use black or white tipped 4″ matches for your jar, but I decided I wanted a pop of color.

This is the prettiest jar full of pink tipped safety matches.

Tips for Cleaning out a Candle Jar

There a several methods to remove the remaining wax from a candle jar, but I prefer burning it down and using a little hot water to warm and remove the remaining wax. Once the excess wax is removed, wash and clean out any soot or burn marks from the jar with ease.

In one of my last chicken updates I shared the Chickcozy automatic coop door before I installed it. I previously used a model similar to this door. The pros are that it’s an extremely affordable automatic door, however it’s not always reliable. The Chickcozy door is the ultimate door because of its many settings. You can set it to automatically open and close at sunrise and sunset, on a timer, plus it has an override button allowing you to open or close the door at any moment.

I currently use the timer setting on the door because of poor past experiences. Whenever I’m out of town, it always seems like there is one chicken that decides to stay out a little late and the door would previously close and lock out the chicken. Then panic would ensue and I’d have to text a neighbor to go grab the rogue chicken. I would always see this on my backyard camera and immediately be stressed. Now with the later timer setting, I don’t allow the door to close at night until about 30 minutes after the sun sets – now the chickens all safely make it back to their coop.

I like that I can override my timer feature at any point during the day if I want to lock the girls out of their garden and keep them in their run. During a lockdown (when we spot a hawk lurking nearby), I like to make sure the girls are all safely tucked inside their run.

Batteries for the automatic doors always last for a very long time – months and months. However, I like that you can see the percentage of battery life that is left.

If Mango went to the beach or had a really active day before, I like to give her this to ease any soreness she might have from overdoing it.

Dental care is something I wish I started earlier on with Mango. I should have started brushing her teeth when she was a puppy. I do brush her teeth a few times a week, but Mango recently started using this dental powder. Just one scoop a day (based on your dog’s weight) and I’ve noticed she has better breath and whiter teeth. Mango doesn’t love the taste so I have to feed it with bone broth, pup cups or other home cooked meals to encourage her to eat it, which is frustrating. But I’d say the results are worth it.

Baby stuff is constantly evolving as they grow and change, which means you can switch things out frequently. Cribs are being updated to have a longer lifespan, thanks to functional and creative design features. We recently bought London this mini crib that transforms into a toddler and twin bed later on. It’s a beautiful piece and comes in black or vintage gold. It also comes with wheels if you want to move it around.

London sleeps in our room in her bassinet, but she has been taking naps in the crib during the day. It has been a great way to get her used to the crib. I’m also super grateful for any nap time that doesn’t leave me “nap trapped”. I usually put the monitor on and go outside to get some fresh air in the backyard with the chickens or Fira once London is down.
