WebHosting Pad have been around for a short time but have really made a huge impact in the web hosting world. They have broken onto the scene by offering about ten times the resources as the more established hosts. No other hosting company offers the features that WebHosting Pad does. If you are looking to go out the gate with the ultimate power server, webhosting pad is for you.

Our Rating

ImHosted are known as one of the cheapest of the more reliable hosting companies out there today. ImHosted got some VERY bad press in 2007 as a result of their horrendous technical support response times. What’s worse is that they did not acknowledge it for so long but the important thing is that they did. They lost a lot of customers in early 2007 but publicly announced on their blog that issues were addressed, apologized and have since gone from strength (or lack of it) to strength. Hostdir applauds them.

Startlogic are one of the oldest names in the hosting industry. Despite a lot of bad reviews in 2006 we are happy to allow Startlogic back onto our toplist for 2008 (after a absence until December 2007!). Start logic got a lot of complaints for a short period while they had some support staff issues. We remember hearing that this was one of the worst hosts online but they really made an effort to get back in shape and re-establish themselves

Apollo have been around for a LONG time and are known as one of the hosting companies that sets the standards that all others try to love up to. Apollo got a bit of bad press last year due to some unforeseen downtime but they have more than made up for it in the past 11 months.

An Hosting are a relatively new hosting company to the mix. AN Hosting have done nothing if not rise to the top in record time. These guys know how host! AN hosting I believe were bought out by a lesser known host to consolidate a load of smaller hosts however AN host was the one that had the higher customer evangelists so all other umbrella hosts merged. The over sized support team at this stage contributed to the popularity and stability of this hosting company however ANhosting treat their affiliates like crap and hostdir have better reccomendations.

Host Rocket have had a bumpy few years. At one stage these guys were known as a pretty poor host but they were bought out in 2006 and new management has taken them to another level. IX web hosting is a long standing web host renowned for its superior uptime and flexibility in their plans. IX are ideally suited to hosting a lot of bandwidth heavy media and their clients and uptime prove that. Many of our readers host a lot of video sites and MySpace related image heavy sites with IX.

Our Rating

Blue Host has consistently provided fantastic support, customer service and uptime. According to alexa, bluehost is one of the highest trafficked hosting companies online and still maintains above industry average uptime. Bluehost is a little more for the smaller business customer with focus on providing tools and support for the business customer. There is a lot more to say about bluehost, mainly that they have always been (and will be for a long time) our top hosting company!

Our Rating

Host Gator has been probably the highest rated hosting site for the past 14 months. Hostgator have without a doubt the largest volume of clients (sometimes to their detriment) and considering their size, have scaled pretty well. Hostgator actually host dome of the biggest sites on the web on their dedicated package and host literally millions of smaller businesses and e-commerce stores (Including some you may know). With the volume they obviously have some poor reviews but overall, assuming you don’t need any major custom plans, hostgator trump most other hosts.
