Take Two Interactive has announced a new version of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, which will be rebuilt to cater for the PlayStation Portable. It will be available for PlayStation Portables of all models and will be released through the UMD (Universal Media Disc) and downloadable format through the PlayStation Network.

Rockstar Games Announces Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Coming to the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system

New York, NY – June 22, 2009 – Rockstar Games, the world-renowned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is pleased to announce that one of the highest-rated handheld games of all time, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, will be making its way to the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) handheld entertainment system. Developed by the award-winning studio Rockstar Leeds, in conjunction with series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be available at retail on UMD® and digitally from the PlayStation®Network in North America and Europe this fall.

Rockstar has announced the second downloadable add-on for Grand Theft Auto IV. It will be titled “Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony”. Like the last episode, The Ballad of Gay Tony will be exclusive to Xbox 360 and will have a price of 1600 Microsoft points or $19.99.

“As Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka “Gay Tony”), players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.”

Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games offered this statement, “Liberty City is the most vibrant game world we’ve created yet. The episodic structure has allowed us to interweave stories, gameplay and atmosphere in a whole new way,” “The team at Rockstar North have yet again surpassed themselves, and made something that is both epic and very innovative. This episode’s focus on high-end night life contrasts with the biker gangs portrayed in The Lost and Damned, whilst giving us a lot of new gameplay possibilities.”

Rockstar Games has also officially announced “Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City”, a disc-based release that will include both Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and the Damned and Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony. This disc will hit retail this fall, exclusively for Xbox 360. It will have a price of $39.99 and can be run standalone without the original Grand Theft Auto IV disc.

Grand Theft Auto IV’s Second Episode:
Last Thursday, Rockstar Games have tweeted on their official Twitter account to say, “Details on 2nd episode of GTAIV downloadable content coming soon.” You can follow them on Twitter here. Official information has not been released thus far, but rumours have begun spreading. With the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2009 coming up soon in June, we expect more information to be revealed soon.

On Twitter, another user known as Game Fork has spreading rumours of the title, which he reckons will be “Blood and a Four Leaf Clover” and the release date will be some time close to Christmas 2009.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars - Mr. Wong’s Laudromat:
Over at the Rockstar Games Social Club, Rockstar Games has just released the “Mr. Wong’s Laundromat” Flash minigame in the Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars section. The money earned in the minigame can be used in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars after you sync your Nintendo DS. The downloads section also has some new ringtones available for download!

Recently, TIME has been honouring special people in certain industries, and the Houser brothers - Sam and Dan Houser - has received such an honour for their achievements in the video games industry, through their website here.

Oh, Grand Theft Auto, what carnage have you wrought upon society? We can’t measure it in the copycat rampages its critics predicted, since few players ended up running wild in the streets, flamethrower-ing policemen and Lord-knows-what-ing prostitutes. No, the real damage is measured in the careers bazooka-ed, marriages Molotov-cocktailed and grade-point averages sent to sleep with the fishes. Because unlike theories about video games and violence, there is a proven connection between regular lives obliterated and the immersive addictiveness of Sam and Dan Houser’s universe. You just don’t want to leave their world.

The passion that these reclusive British brothers, 37 and 35, have brought to creating — no, inhabiting — Liberty City, San Andreas and Vice City has translated into games that offer quantum leaps in genre-defining fun. None of their video-game-industry imitators have even come close.

But what makes the Housers’ creation unparalleled is that their games have a take on American cultural history. A smart take. A take that solidifies the culture’s vision of its recent past. Was it a prominent film or book or record that defined how we look back on gang-era Los Angeles? No, it was a video game that uses movies, music and writing to a greater effect. Who better summarized and satirized the drug-dealing Miami of the ’80s? Or the New York City of now? The Housers are doing the work of Tom Wolfe, creating tapestries of modern times as detailed as those of Balzac or Dickens. At least, I assume that’s true. Instead of reading those guys, I’ve been in Liberty City stealing tanks.

For the record, only three Grand Theft Auto games with Liberty City as their primary setting had tanks in them - Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Niko’s inability to man a tank has got nothing to do wth the statement.

Buducnost - Grand Theft Auto IV Machinima:

Buducnost is Serbian for the word, Futurity. Futurity means the quality of being future, or a future state.

My second effort at a video, took about 4 or so hours total (I think). The clips took quite a while to get because of the glitches in the video editor. Whatever. There were also lag problems with using FRAPS video capture program. Enjoy.

This week, we have Budu?nost by Ænemy, a forum member of GTAGaming, one of the better known Grand Theft Auto community sites on the internet. He has done a really good job in blending the music with the footage. The only quirk I have with the video is the framerate and the camera pauses. Disregarding these minor problems, this video is perfectly artistic. Give it a watch!

As a gift to Grand Theft Auto fans on Grand Theft Auto IV’s first year anniversary, Rockstar Games has released a series of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars-themed paperraft models on the Rockstar Games Social Club website. This is where anyone can download, print, and construct the various models available, from the Sabre GT and Hellenbach, accompanied by a display base, to a “pixel-perfect” representation of Huang Lee.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars - Bulletproof Hellenbach:

Besides a papercraft Hellenbach, owners of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be able to unlock an Exclusive Bulletproof Hellenbach through the Rockstar Games Social Club. To be able to do so, you must have a Rockstar Games Social Club account before May 8th, 2009, a copy of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, a Nitendo DS system, and then follow the instructions below.

1. Become a Social Club member before May 8, 2009 at 11:59 PM ET
2. Link your Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Friend Code to your Social
Club account before the same date.
3. Sync your stats anytime after May 1, 2009 at 12:00 AM ET.
4. After you sync your stats, head to the car merchant in BOABO and it should be the last car in the list.
5. If you don’t see it, you may need to retry syncing your stats.

It’s April 29th, 2009 today, a year since Grand Theft Auto IV was officially released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3! Here, we shall all commemorate and celebrate Grand Theft Auto IV’s release anniversary! On this day, Grand Theft Auto IV broke sales records, as well as shocked and awed many fans worldwide.

Remember queueing up at midnight for your copy? Or, skipping school or work on the day to grab a copy? Or rather, sitting down with the copy of the game in your hands, excited to be playing it? How about the first time we all got to control Niko Bellic? Yes, it’s been a year, and it’s been a good time!

Personally, in the past year, I have clocked at least a few hundred hours on Grand Theft Auto IV, having completed 100% twice, the story thrice, and 98% of the achievements on the Xbox 360 and PC versions. I have created and published nine Grand Theft Auto IV videos in total on both the Rockstar Games Social Club and YouTube. Also, I have completed Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned 100%.

Right now, let all of us, as fans of the Grand Theft Auto series, celebrate this very fateful day Grand Theft Auto IV was released a year ago! Have a great time celebrating, pop in a disc and start playing! News in the Grand Theft Auto community has been flowing really slowly lately, but don’t worry, the blog’s still alive! We’re not dead and sitting at home staring at Kotaku 24/7. Well, that’s not the point. The point is, this is the first issue of “Grand Theft Auto Weekly”, a newsletter of Grand Theft Auto news that will be posted, well, on a weekly basis (check back during weekends!) during periods where there are little news to post and most things don’t deserve a full post.

Chinatown Wars sells a meagre 90,000 units in March:
I’m sure we all hate to read this. 90,000 units sold in less than a month may be a record breaker for a game that’s not Grand Theft Auto, but Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, one of the most impressive titles on the Nintendo DS, and the most critically-acclaimed, only sold this much.

Although Grand Theft Auto IV sold a whopping 6 Million units in the first week of sales, we’re sure Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars’ sales will continue to rise at a growing pace, as the Nintendo DS platform somewhat differs from the big brother consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Some of you here may have seen the “Mr Wong’s Laundromat” section in the Rockstar Games Social Club that was “coming soon”. Today, we found out that “Mr Wong’s Laundromat” will apparently be a web-based Flash mini-game. Powered by certain GameSpy technology, it was being mentioned on GameSpy’s site briefly.

“Once at the Rockstar Social Club, registered users can also play Flash games like Mr. Wong’s Laundromat to unlock additional cash that can be spent back in the game. GameSpy’s custom work links money earned out of game straight back into your in-game funds to spend on bigger guns and more ammo (and you can never have enough of that).”

A teaser on the Rockstar Games Social Club also mentioned about this upcoming feature, that will be interesting to see how it works. A release date for this feature is currently not announced, and as this is an unintentional leak on GameSpy’s part, we will see how this develops, and update you guys.

“These features are just the beginning for the Chinatown Wars section. We will be adding activities here that allow you to earn extra in-game cash as well as other special unlockables. Check back soon for more announcements.”

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has already been out for more than a week, but some of you reading this might not have played it. Whatever is the case, I decided to do up a review for your reading pleasure - it was such a fun experience for me I took quite some time to finish the story and several side-missions and then finally writing this review, so please excuse me for publishing this late.

You may expect that as a Grand Theft Auto fanatic and a Chinese, I would be biased in my review of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. But, I’m going to choose the less ventured route. I’m going to be honest here. I’m not going to go ahead and give it a numerical score, but allow you to formulate your own opinion instead - I won’t even classify things as good or bad, save for some. If you have read Kotaku reviews, you will probably have an vague idea of how this is going to go about. Without further ado, let’s get into some reviewing frenzy, minus the political and capitalist agendas.

In a nutshell, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars summarises the great times we had with the Grand Theft Auto series thus far. Not only does it brings back the Grand Theft Auto series into its pseudo-three-dimensional top-down view and arcade experience, it also takes the best bits out of every Grand Theft Auto title released and weaved it into an experience unique only to Chinatown Wars.

If you liked the arcade driving and shooting experience from the original Grand Theft Auto, the pseudo-three-dimensional view from Grand Theft Auto 2, the sound effects, mechanics and music from the Grand Theft Auto III era of games; and the writing, setting, in-game technology (such as the improved map and E-Mail message system) and depth of Grand Theft Auto IV, then you will be pleased with Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has also utilized the Nintendo DS-specific features very well. Although well executed and fun, it may be intrusive in some occasions, where you will stumble for your stylus and earn a maligned police wanted level instead. The new optional way of lowering your wanted level by disabling police cars, however, is fun. Well, you cannot turn this feature off, though. Whether you may like it or not, it birngs in a whole new added layer of detail into Liberty City and the game itself.

This is not all that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has delivered. A simple drug trading minigame not only brings a whole new realm of fun into the game, but also into the child-favourite platform that is the Nintendo DS, proving that the Nintendo DS is as capable as the PSP or the Xbox 360 in delivering quality video game content to a mature audience.

Also, the game has proved to be intricately detailed in every aspect - from pedestrian actions and reactions to the player, pedestrian chatter, sound bits and effects, weather effects, spam mail and even the litter on the sidewalk, to “swoosh” sounds that play when new icons appear on the minimap, which tell the player that you are near a certain landmark on your map.

Invariably, Grand Theft Auto games since the mark of the legend, Grand Theft Auto III, have always had deep plots, memorable characters, humorous dialogue and interesting plot twists. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has managed to keep this tradition with a believable, Hollywood-style action-packed story about the Chinese Triads which has some very interesting plot twists in the end, as well as fun-filled and action-packed missions that make you want to replay those missions over again, which is possible with the new mission-replay feature - a nice addition to the game, I might add.

The music could easily be Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars’ achilles’ heel if not done properly. Rockstar Leeds, however, have done a decent job of adding five radio stations to the in-game radio with Electro, Funk, Rock, Rap and Reggae hitting the high notes of your Nitendo DS speakers - generally genres that sound great just with instrumentals.

The real achilles’ heel of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, however, comes in the combat and on-foot navigation. Without an analog stick, moving around on-foot with the D-Pad may be a hassle sometimes, and the ability jumping over obstacles is extremely limited to only cars, motorcycles, small props or short walls. The combat is also plagued by some auto-aim issues which still exist in Grand Theft Auto games today. Luckily, these small hipcups do not get into the way of gameplay very often.

While Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is not Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Stories, Grand Theft Auto IV Portable or Grand Theft Auto: Saints Row, it retains enough substance from the journey to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 to the tiny dual screens that make it a game worth trying out, if not game-of-the-year substance.

So, here’s all I’ve got to review about Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Verdict? Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is impressively fun and very addicting for a Nintendo DS game. I am not going to say anything more, as an internet reader like yourself should be able to formulate up your own opinions about this game if you haven’t bought it. It’s been two days since Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has been made available worldwide! A great deal of a Nintendo DS game it is, it features several cheat codes, just like any other Grand Theft Auto title released after Grand Theft Auto III, bar Advance. Of course, it also has it’s own unique goals to complete in order to achieve 100%.

Most of you would have already guessed by now that the requirements are “complete all missions, mini-games, stunt jumps and shoot all cameras”. It’s satisfying to see that Rockstar Games are still providing support for the Windows version of Grand Theft Auto IV, fixing many bugs and glitches with their latest patch, version 1.0.3.0 (download here). The new patch not only adds new options to improve performance, it also adds anti-cheat solutions to Multiplayer.

As those already playing the massive handheld hit Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars would already know, the game is generally taking the best bits of Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto III and the original Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2 games and combining it into one spectacular handheld hit on the Nintendo DS that is Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

Tomorrow’s February 17th, 2009, and it will be the launch of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars in North America! While the rest of us get it later, it’s still good to know that we are just hours away! Ok, who dosn’t love Rampages? Rampages, or Kill Frenzies as Grand Theft Auto fanatics have come to know, is generally a side-mission that has appeared in most Grand Theft Auto games - while taken out from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV, it is a fan-favourite like the PCJ 600, and I am sure most of you here would be glad that it has now been implemented into Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars with a new touch.

The fourth game Feature Clip is all about the triumphant return of the fan-favorite Rampage mode to the Grand Theft Auto series.

Feature Clip #4: Rampage!:

The video shown above is the fourth gameplay feature clip for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, probably the last one. The video was just released about an hour ago, I believe. It showcases the many weapons that can be utilized in Rampage side-missions. In fact, they look so fun one would wish they would appear in the second downloadable episode for Grand Theft Auto IV.

Reviews of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars have also surfaced online. From the positive review scores, one can tell that this is by far the highest rated title available to the Nintendo DS platform. GamePro, Eurogamer and Cynamite have all awarded the game a perfect score! CVG, IGN and 1UP have also praised the game and gave it positive review scores! Thanks to GTAGaming for the links.

Getting Started:
To gain entry to the special features for Chinatown Wars, you will first want to obtain a Friends Code and link your account. This will allow you to connect your game to the Social Club and enable future stats syncing. Find Your Friends:
When you sync your stats, your Nintendo DS Friends Roster will also be joined to your Social Club account. You can then compare your stats to your friends’. Make sure to tell your friends to also sign up to Social Club to take part in this feature.

Guardian Lions:
Rumor has it some very valuable Chinese artifacts arrived and promptly disappeared in our fair city. On their way to the museum, a pair of priceless statues called The Lions of Fo that once guarded a recently unearthed ancient Shaolin temple were stolen. The now missing statues are worth a substantial fortune on the black market. The perpetrators of the heist have hidden them in Liberty City while they attempt to offload them. Once you have completed the main story missions, your quest for the two lost Guardian Lions will begin. Social Club will provide members with hints as to where to locate them, and, once found, will present a special key to unlock new secret story missions.

The Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars official website has just been updated, with a new gameplay trailer that was released yesterday about dealing and delivering drugs, as well as two new sets of screenshots, a few pieces of new artwork and two new character profiles.

Also, a special remix of the Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars theme song, simple named “Chinatown Wars” is now available for listening through a special internet audio stream from Rockstar Games’ servers. The full track will be made available soon through iTunes, according to the post on the official website.

Also, there will be a special launch event for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, where the first one hundred Grand Theft Auto fanatics/eBay Merchants will be rewarded with “exclusive collectible gear including Grand Theft Auto Kubrick sets, custom DS-Lites and limited-edition Rockstar apparel”.

Also, the Nintendo Power magazine has just reviewed Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and gave it 94%, which based on the score is one of the highest rated Nintendo DS video game title thus far, if not the highest. When describing Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Nintendo Power commented that it is “every bit as compelling, impressive and fun to play as its home console cousins, if not more so”.

Plus, further details of the Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars soundtrack have been revealed in this article. In the article, it was mentioned that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will retain some stations from Grand Theft Auto IV’s roster, including the popular ones such as The Beat 102.7, with MIDI-based instrumentals.

Characters:

Wade Heston:

A dirty narcotics detective with the IAD on his tail and a monkey on his back, Wade Heston forms a dubious alliance with Huang Lee to find the mysterious FIB rat who has set up both Huang and Wade. Lying, stealing and murdering are all in a day’s work for this member of Liberty City’s finest.

Hsin and Chan Jaoming:

Hsin Jaoming has ruled the Triad gangs of Liberty City for over twenty years with an iron fist. But now nearing retirement, he is looking for a worthy successor with as much ambition and brains as himself. Unfortunately, his playboy son Chan leaves much to be desired as a leader; willful, drug-addled and stupid, Chan buys his friends and makes his enemies with little caution and even less thought.

Uncle Wu “Kenny” Lee:

The leader of the Lee clan within the Triad organizations of Liberty City, Uncle Kenny is from the old school. He likes his suits double breasted, his platitudes from a fortune cookie, and his payments in cash. Uncle Kenny wants control of the Triads, and there is little that he won’t ask Huang to do for him to get it.

Huang Lee:

A spoiled rich kid from Hong Kong, Huang Lee owes his status as a Triad member to his father, a Triad boss from Kowloon. After the murder of his father, Huang is called to Liberty City by his Uncle Wu “Kenny” Lee to deliver a family ‘heirloom”, the Yu Jian sword, to secure his family’s claim to the leadership of the Triad gangs. But what was supposed to be a weekend of table service and strippers turns into a dangerous adventure after arriving at Liberty City Airport only to be hijacked, robbed of his sword, and left for dead. Huang will have to dig deep into the rotten core of Liberty City - and deep within himself — to avenge his father’s murder and reclaim his family’s honor.

Ling:

Ling is a street smart Chinatown girl whose beauty belies her deadly skills. She serves as Uncle Kenny’s master at arms, and provides necessary muscle in a town that only respects money and brute force. Trained in the martial arts and deadly with all manner of small arms, it is Ling who teaches Huang the combat skills he will need to survive on the streets of Liberty City.

IGN has once again published another article on the interview between them and the lead developer at Rockstar Leeds, Gordon Hall, in which they talk about the arcade feel of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and new features, weapons, et cetra, some of which we know, some of which are new.

I feel lucky to be Chinese, at least now. Rockstar Games has hit the head on the nail by mashing up Traditional Chinese Opera with Hip-Hop (which seems to be a new track created for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars) in the Official Debut Trailer. Also, another “features” video is posted, which shows off gameplay.

Rockstar Games have just announced a new event for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars that is now ongoing in the United States of America, where Rockstar Games vans will tour around selected GameStop outlets to offer anyone a chance to play the game early! Click here for the event details.

Well, Jared’s comments at RockstarWatch summed up my sentiments perfectly - “It’s times like this that I wish I was an American” - well, all those other Grand Theft Auto fanatics out there, you are not alone too! Well, for the rest of us, there’s always the internet - IGN has just published a new article.

Yes, you guessed it (or maybe not). Rockstar Leeds’ President, Gordon Hall, is interviewed in this article, which also comes with a neat fourteen screenshots of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars which show some 3D renders of the handheld rendition of the Grand Theft Auto IV era Liberty City, as well as gameplay screenshots. A new GameStop commercial for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has also been aired on Television in the United States of America, in case you’ve missed it in my last post, you can see the trailer right on top. It advertises the pre-order bonus over at GameStop which is actually a code that comes with weapons and money unlocked. The video shows a cutscene in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, with some gameplay, along with a Chinese Opera track which gradually switches over to a Hip-Hop beat.

As a Grand Theft Auto fanatic, I must admit that Grand Theft Auto IV has not lived up to the hype, although certainly 10/10 worthy. Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, however, is different. It is not only short and sweet, but totally worth the 1600 Microsoft Points if you consider the price of add-ons like map packs and additional music tracks for First-Person Shooter and Music games.

I am not going to do this review like what I did with the Grand Theft Auto IV one, as it’s going to be short. Basically, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned is an episodic downloadable content pack well worth the US$20 price tag, if you are wondering. Many video games add new characters, new missions, new vehicles, new weapons, new music or new multiplayer modes, but Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned does all of them, and more.

The first time you start Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, you will realize that it feels totally different from Grand Theft Auto IV, although still set in the same city with the some familiar people that you would have seen from Grand Theft Auto IV. The “noise” grainy filter used in the game also adds atmosphere to the game.

For long-time Grand Theft Auto fanatics, you will be pleased to find that Rockstar North had took the ‘gang’ formula from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and refined it to be much better than what Saint’s Row 2 had done. You can now improve your gang members’ (Terry and Clay’s) toughness, allowing them to fight better alongside you as the statistic value increases, also allowing them to gain better weapons - each time you successfully complete a mission keeping them alive, they will be tougher in combat.

Also, there was a great deal of added music tracks to The Beat 102.7 (two of which happened to be my favourites - “Love Lockdown” by Kanye West and the remix of “Dangerous” by Kardinal Offishall featuring Akon and Sean Paul). Right now, The Beat 102.7 seems to be one of the biggest radio stations in Liberty City in terms of the amount of songs it plays, with a record of four Disc Jockeys! Also, fans of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City would be pleased to find out that there is a much greater deal of rock and metal music tracks added, which all did a great job of setting the atmosphere.

The storyline was also short and sweet - short enough to not feel bland, but sweet enough to make players yearn for more action. Every single mission in Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned was filled with non-stop hardcore action and had no filler ‘tutorial’ missions like Grand Theft Auto IV had, along with new weapons and bikes.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned’s storyline also intersects a great deal with Grand Theft Auto IV’s, and many familiar faces such as Elizabeta Torres, Ray Boccino, Roman Bellic, Luis Fernando Lopez, and of course, Niko Bellic appear in this episodic downloadable content pack, right where you would expect them to appear.

In addition, the final scenes of the game - the final mission and credits cutscenes - alone were already worth the price paid. The Bike Races in single-player and Multiplayer was also a hell lot of fun (the “Get Good Wood” achievement was one of the best achievements I’ve ever completed!). Talking about achievements, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned has also added 250 GamerPoints worth of achievements to Grand Theft Auto IV’s list.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned also adds seven modes to Multiplayer, sharing the same system as Grand Theft Auto IV’s, so that you will not feel bored going for the “Wanted” achievement. Chopper vs. Copper is a nice mode worth getting into and playing with your friends, and so are the Races and Club Business!

Lastly, of course, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned adds 50 Seagulls to hunt and a few side missions, with the return of Random Characters from Grand Theft Auto IV and Gang Wars from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas! Some new side missions included are Bike Thefts and Bike Races, as well as Thomas Stubbs III’s side missions.

In short, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned is worth the little money you will need to fork out to download this little beast. 1600 Microsoft Points is all it takes to put yourself in the shoes of Johnny Klebitz! If you have not done so, then what are you waiting for? Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned is now available in stores and on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, weighing in at 1.78 GigaBytes! The ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) Website has updated the ratings for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, including a rather detailed description of the game, which gives an insight into some of the gameplay that will be featured in this upcoming portable Grand Theft Auto game developed my Rockstar Leeds.

Rating summary: This is an “open-world” action game in which players assume the role of Huang Lee, a triad gang member who must recover a stolen item and gain revenge in the fictional setting of Liberty City. Presented from an overhead perspective, the game allows players to roam freely around the urban environment and perform various missions for underworld figures. Some missions involve recruiting characters into a gang, eliminating rival gang members and law enforcement personnel, dealing drugs (e.g., heroin, coke, ecstasy, weed, speed), and high-jacking cars. Players can use pistols, machine guns, flamethrowers, swords, Molotov cocktails, and grenades to kill enemies and occasionally civilians. As promised by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned has now been released! Also, new Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned biker-themed clothing has been made available free for the Avatar editor! The add-on for Grand Theft Auto IV weighs in at 1.78 GigaBytes, and costs 1,600 Microsoft Points (or 20 United States Dollars) to download.

Rockstar Games has also sent out an exclusive screenshot to all the fan site webmasters, which shows The Lost motorcycle riding in formation, with Niko Bellic right at the sidewalk on the left. See him? This is likely to be intended by Rockstar North, as he is also seen on the sidewalk in the Introductory cutscene in Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned.

Also, 1Up has posted a new video which shows a cutscene with brief male frontal nudity. In other words - genitals. As to how Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned managed to snag up a Mature 17+ rating from the Entertainment Software Ratings Board, is unknown - as nudity was present in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, but it received an “Adults Only” rating after re-rating. Also, as you might have noticed, at the bottom of the website, we now have a “Google Friend Connect” Social Bar, which is a replacement for the ShoutBox that I have removed from the website due to excessive spam from Pornography and Phishing websites. Alright, let’s get back to news! As you might or might not have realized, the week of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned’s release will be a dedicated Xbox LIVE week to Grand Theft Auto IV. There will be ongoing Multiplayer events, sweekskates and contests, as well as free Multiplayer for Silver members who play either Grand Theft Auto IV or Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, for the whole week.

Ongoing events on the week that spans February 17th 2009 till February 22nd 2009 are Sweepstakes (February 17 - 22 - applicable only to the residents of the United States of America), Community Playdate (February 17), GamerchiX Ladies Night (February 18), Game with Rockstar (February 20), Xbox All-Nighter (February 21) and Game with Fame (February 22 2009).

To participate in the Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned sweepskates, you must download the GamerPic to register and then download The Lost and Damned from Marketplace or play a multiplayer match of Grand Theft Auto IV between 12:01 A.M. Sorry for the late update! The Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned websites were just updated today, with many screenshots, achievements, weapons and music details, as well as some new media added - “Train Yourself Tolerant”, “The Lost Motorcycle Club”, and “Jousters”. Some fansites have missed this but I’ve uploaded them for you guys!

Also, IGN (Imagine Games Network) has just released a new article detailing the new Multiplayer modes in Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned. There seems to be a very exciting platter of new Multiplayer modes, which is mostly biker-themed to fit into Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned. Below is a summary of the points.

• Multiplayer will feature new character models along with the new weapons and vehicles.
• Witness Protection has you play on two teams: The Lost gang and a set N.O.O.S.E. officers. The N.O.O.S.E. have to deliver three witnesses to the police station while The Lost have to kill the witnesses.
• Own the City is like a gang territory war. Each team tries to obtain as much territory as possible, and a group of NPC’s will try to protect your land when you’re out getting some more.
• The new racing mode is similar to the classic game Road Rash: you are to travel through checkpoints atop a motorcycle while beating down your opponents with a baseball bat.
• The Lone Wolf Biker mode is similar to an “oddball” mode from Halo or other similar First-Person Shooter games, where one player is the Lone Wolf and it’s everybody else’s job to kill him. The Lone Wolf that lasts the longest wins.
• Chopper vs. Chopper is played by two people: one on a motorcycle and the other in a helicopter. The motorcycle rider’s task is to reach checkpoints throughout the city while the helicopter pilot’s job is to kill the motorcycle rider!
• Club Business will feature every member of The Lost, and the gang will be given random tasks to complete throughout the city.

Also, music, weapons and achievement details have been revealed. Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned will only come with 15 new tracks. It is a dissapointment that the tracks used in the “Billy” Trailer and te Debut Trailer did not make it into the final version of the downloadable episode. However, as for weapons, it was also revealed that a Pool Cue will be the other new addition.

The achievements’ GamerScore value has also changed since Rockstar Games last revealed the achievements. It seems like the GamerScore value for each achievement was erroneous, the correct alues have been posted below (they have now been updated on Xbox LIVE). Also, a list of new vehicles that will be made available in Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned was revealed.

This shotgun has a short gun barrel producing a wide blast and is deadly at close range. Fires only 2 shells but automatically reloads and can be fired from your bike.

Automatic 9mm

This pistol requires only one pull of the trigger to empty the magazine and is very accurate. This is a great weapon for drive-bys and close combat with its high rate of fire.

Rockstar Games have just released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, as promised last week via the Rockstar Propaganda E-Mail Newsletter. It is now available for download via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Somebody has been kind enough to upload a High-Definition version of the trailer, so enjoy!

The song used in the trailer is called “Wild Side” by Mötley Crüe. Finally, Grand Theft Auto fanatics should be pleased, that we are returning to the good old Metal music from Vice City and Gang culture from San Andreas! We still do not have flamethrowers and jetpacks, but I’m sure Rockstar Games has reserved those for something else.

IGN (Imagine Games Network), has just released a whole new interview with Leslie Benzies on Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, calling it an “in-depth” interview, which doesn’t reveal much about the game’s story, but more on the development process from the developers’ view. Also, a new screenshot was uploaded today.

One very interesting portion of the interview states that Rockstar North had worked on the story and ideas of the Downloadable Episodic Content Packs concurrently with Grand Theft Auto IV, so that it would “flow naturally” with Niko Bellic’s story in Grand Theft Auto IV, basically that means that the story was designed for the downloadable content.

This is interesting because it means that the third protagonist of Grand Theft Auto IV was already decided upon during development - which further strenghtens the fan theory on the “Impossible Trinity” achievement/trophy whereby Luis Fernando Lopez was predicted to be the third protagonist of the main series.

For those unclear of the “Impossible Trinity” theory, it basically is a speculation based on the mission “Museum Piece”, where Johnny and Niko are there, as well as Luis Fernando Lopez. The theory is that the next protagonist planned is Luis Fernando Lopez due to the achievement you unlock after the mission citing the “impossible trinity” among these three characters.

Also, a very interesting fact not stated in the interview - both Johnny Klebitz and Luis Fernando Lopez were unusually detailed as compared to the other minor characters in the Grand Theft Auto IV storyline, and also, only Niko Bellic, Huang Lee, Johnny Klebitz and Luis Fernando Lopez were charged with the criminal offence “Grand Theft Auto” in the Police Database in Grand Theft Auto IV.

Lastly, the second trailer of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned has been made available on the Xbox LIVE Video Marketplace. You can now download and watch it on your Xbox 360, but it should be posted on websites soon. First up, MTV’s website has published a new article which reveals some further deatails of the Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned soundtrack. It has now been confirmed that four radio stations from the original Grand Theft Auto IV’s radio station roster will be updated with new music (with the talk radios getting new content as well).

The Beat 102.7 will be updated with the songs from Statik Selektah, and all the three Rock stations - Liberty Rock Radio, Liberty City Hardcore and Radio Broker - will also be updated with more Classic Rock, Death Metal and Indie Rock respectively. ‘Lost and Damned’ episode offers new hip-hop and death-metal shows, plus new songs on existing radio stations.

Radio is alive and well — and getting a major upgrade — in next week’s “Grand Theft Auto IV” episode, the downloadable-only Xbox 360 exclusive: “The Lost and Damned.”

Rockstar Games music supervisor Ivan Pavlovich broke down the details and even gave MTV News a sneak listen to one of the episode’s most radical radio innovations during a telephone interview last week.

“Grand Theft Auto: The Lost and Damned” is already adding 10 to 20 hours of gameplay focusing on the exploits of new playable character, biker Johnny Klebitz. But why stop there?

Four of the “GTA IV” radio stations are getting new music.

Hip-hop station the Beat 102.7 is gaining a new show of popular hip-hop DJed by Funkmaster Flex and headlined by two new Busta Rhymes tracks. One of them, “The Conglomerate,” features Young Jeezy and Jadakiss.

The Beat is also getting a show DJed by Statik Selektah, featuring all hip-hop recorded and mixed specifically for “GTA.” One of the headliners there is Freeway, who told MTV News that Selektah asked him to get into the game. “I was excited when I was approached about the opportunity,” he said over e-mail. “I used what I know about the past ‘GTA’ games and just put my own twist on it.” His song is called “Car Jack.”

Liberty City Hardcore is gaining a new death-metal show DJed by Max Cavalera of Sepultura and Soulfly fame. Among the artists featured will be Bathory.

Liberty Rock Radio 97.8 is getting new rock songs, with Iggy Pop returning as the DJ.

Radio Broker, the indie-rock station DJed by Juliette Lewis, is also getting new music.

Pavlovich won’t reveal the exact number of new songs in the $20 expansion, but he did explain the motivation for what was added. All the new rock and metal is designed to suit the mood of the episode’s story, one that chronicles the adventures and stresses of a Liberty City motorcycle gang. “This really focuses on biker songs and a little more aggressive songs,” Pavlovich said.

The new hip-hop was added because the Beat had proven to be the most popular “GTA IV” radio station. The approach with Flex was to provide hip-hop that has more of a national appeal than the New York-focused shows of original Beat DJs Mr. Cee and Green Lantern.

Rockstar has programmed “The Lost and Damned” to make sure the new music gets attention. The new rock songs will be weighted to play first in the otherwise-random mix on those stations. The new Flex, Statik Selektah and Cavalera shows will play in blocks, before the original shows on their respective stations get their turn in rotation.

Pavlovich and his team have pulled some other tricks too. They’ve got Funkmaster Flex doing a phone interview with Busta Rhymes on the Beat. Pavlovich played a version of the conversation for MTV News over the phone, explaining that it was essentially a freestyle interview conducted between the two hip-hop icons. Busta talks about holding down hip-hop for Liberty City and plugs his real-world album. They banter a bit and intro one of Busta’s new songs. Pavlovich said that Flex had a lot of fun with his recording session for “The Lost and Damned.” The DJ even spoofed his real-world rant about R. Kelly, but how that one goes down won’t be revealed until you play the game for yourself.

All of the music in the “The Lost and Damned” will be linked to iTunes, Rockstar’s new partner for “GTA IV” music. Players can hear songs in the game, tag them and find a list of their marked songs on Rockstar’s Web site, ready for iTunes purchase. Rockstar had launched “GTA IV” last year with a similar deal structured through Amazon’s music store.

All of this music is exclusive to Xbox 360 games, because “Lost and Damned” itself is not coming to the PlayStation 3. It and a second upcoming “GTA IV” episode are Xbox 360 exclusives. “The Lost and Damned,” which is rated M, will be available for download through the Xbox Live Marketplace on February 17. It requires a copy of the original “GTA IV” game.

MTV has also received three new exclusive screenshots, which they have kindly posted onto their website without any watermarks. It is, however, not the usual 1280×720 resolution that most screenshots come in. IGN has also released their new screenshot for the day on their website. You can view all these right on top.

Also, please be reminded that the Gold-exclusive Multiplayer features Xbox LIVE will be going free from Tuesday, February 17th, 2009 till Sunday, February 22nd, 2009 for players of either Grand Theft Auto IV or Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned only, to celebrate the release of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned.

Rockstar Games have just announced a brand new video editor contest for the Windows version of Grand Theft Auto IV, specially for Valentine’s Day which will hitting us soon in just a few days - titled “Video Editor Contest : Valentine’s Special”. The contest period starts today and ends on February 17th, 2009, the same day Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned hits us.

The contest requires qualifying Machinima directors to create a video with a Valentine’s Day theme. It’s not going to be easy, but if you are up for it and are interested in the prizes, then head over to the contest rules page. The contest prizes are an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX + graphics card, a US $300 “shopping spree” of products from Rockstar Warehouse, and a Deluxe Prize Pack of Grand Theft Auto IV collectables.

I admit that I am indeed very excited to be writing about this - there are lots of news today to post about! It’s also because of the fact that we are beating other fansites to reporting the news! There has been lots of new information today that have surfaced thorugh various sites, including Maxim, Twitter, IGN, Variety, GameStop and even the Official Grand Theft Auto IV website!

First up, the website of Maxim, a men’s magazine that deals with all stuff girls and gaming, has just released two new screenshots that came along with a new preview! Check the new preview out here! The preview had shown nothing new, but we believe pictures speak a thoudand words!

Next, the description of the strategy guide from BradyGames, from the website of the United States video games retailer GameStop, has revealed some new information, including some information on the all-new collectibles, mini-games, odd jobs, and more! You can read the full description below!

Also, the website of Variety has published a new article, claiming that Rockstar Games have abandoned Amazon as the deal between them has ended, and the ZiT service, using the Rockstar Games Social Club website, will now move on to Apple’s iTunes service. Will this mark the start of an ongoing rumor of Grand Theft Auto for the iPhone, iPod Touch or Mac OS X? We’ll see.

Next, IGN has also released another new screenshot in their “Screenshot-A-Day” feature, which halted temporarily for the weekend, unfortunately. Today, the new screenshot came with a very interesting shot of Johnny Klebitz, our main character, in the water, something no screenshot of a Grand Theft Auto game has ever shown prior to this.

Lastly, the Grand Theft Auto IV official website has also been updated today, featuring Congressman Thomas Stubbs. You wouldn’t have guessed that Liberty City residents actually use Twitter, do you? Well, this politician does! The only place that the real world intersects with the Grand Theft Auto universe, is at Twitter. A site called EuroGamer has got their hands on four new Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, some of which were from the article in the February 2009 issue of the EDGE magazine. You can take a look at them below. None of them shows anything much, but one screenshot shows mini-game where you have to assemble a sniper rifle.

Here you go! It was a pain having to wait two and a half hours after the actualy boradcast on American TVs to watch it! But we got it in High Definition anyway! Click here to watch the Episode 202 of GameTrailers TV! Below, I have posted a summary of information revealed in the video. Some are already known.

• Johnny was head of The Lost while Billy was in prison. When Billy comes back, Billy is not happy.
• When you get in formation, you will get a health boost and a couple of other things.
• There are mid-mission check-points.
• Johnny can use Love-Meet, you’re not tied to your "old lady".
• One of the missions is where you use your grenade launcher and shoot though a Angel’s of Death’s club house and then you charge in.
• Multiplayer content will be talked about next week.
• When asked about the theory of the “impossible trinity” between Niko, Johnny, and Luis (which might be the protagonist for the second downloadable episode) in the mission Museum Piece where you get the achievement of that name, Jeronimo commented that "Those are some interesting dots to connect, that’s all I’m going to say".
• All of Liberty City is unlocked from the start of the story, and Johnny has lived in Liberty City all his life unlike Niko.
• You will get to ride with Malc on his bike and ward off the cops as he drives you to a safe zone.
• In terms of new dialogue and story, The Lost and Damned is roughly 1/3 the size of Grand Theft Auto IV’s, but the story doesn’t necessarily start at the same time Niko arrives in Liberty City, but there are definitely intersections with Niko’s story at certain points.

We haven’t had updates for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for a long time. Let’s have a look at the recent news. First up, It was recently revealed that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be playable in this weekend’s New York Comic Con (February 6th to February 8th, 2009), which is taking place in the city’s Jacob Javits Center in Booth 1563.

Also, here’s something we missed from the Rockstar Broadcast. Rockstar Games has announced that the official Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars website and debut trailer will launch next week. As Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is a Nintendo DS game, the trailer has a high chance of showing off gameplay footage rather than cutscenes. A live-action trailer would also be possible, as with Grand Theft Auto 2.

Both the Comic Con event and the Trailer would make the first time in Grand Theft Auto’s long history that gameplay footage of a Grand Theft Auto game got revealed! In their Rockstar Broadcast (Rockstar Propaganda Newsletter) recently, Rockstar Games have announced that a second trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned will be out soon next week, as well as the Grand Theft Auto IV official web site update, with a screenshot of The Angels of Death, that can be seen below.

Also, GrandTheftAuto.fr has released their long overdue exclusive screenshot for Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, which we have uploaded for you guys too, where you can view below and in our Image Gallery. The screenshot shows nothing really new, but it’s still worth a look in you haven’t seen it yet.

Also, in other related Rockstar Games news, in the same newsletter, Red Dead Redemption was announced for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and the video “Icarus” was named as the winning entry of the Grand Theft Auto IV Best-In-Class 2 PC Video Editor Contest.

Here’s an update (February 6th 2009). We have just received a new E-Mail from the Rockstar Games Webmaster today. It seems that new unseen gameplay and cutscene footage of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned will be featured on a special episode of GameTrailers, which will be shown tomorrow night for Americans on Spike TV, and the rest of us can watch it at other sources.

“Just wanted to give you a heads-up and let you know that Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned will be featured on a special episode of GameTrailers TV tommorrow night, hosted from our office in New York City. The Associated Press have published an article today, which roughly touches upon the new music tracks and artists that will be featured in Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned’s soundtrack. Hip-Hop, Hardcore Rock, Metal and Classic Rock are among the new music tracks that will be added, including some exclusive tracks created just for Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, as was with Grand Theft Auto IV. NEW YORK – When “Grand Theft Auto IV” debuts another downloadable episode later this month, there’ll be not only new story lines and characters, but also new music for the ride.

Busta Rhymes, Funkmaster Flex and others have been added to music stations on the radio dial in “The Lost and the Damned,” an episode that features hours of new content for the popular video game, which released the fourth part of its series to great fanfare — and sales — last year.

Rhymes is also debuting a new song, “Conglomerate,” exclusively for “Grand Theft Auto.”

Music supervisor Ivan Pavlovich said the featured songs are a key component of “Grand Theft Auto,” so they updated five of the radio stations in the game, including a hip-hop station and rock stations.

“Unlike movies, where you have a particular song that goes with a particular scene, what we do with the stations is really kind of allow each player to individualize how they want to play the game and how they set the tone,” he said.

To that end, they’ve enlisted DJ Funkmaster Flex to make a show for the game’s fictional Liberty City, which sits right outside of a New York-type metropolis. Rhymes’ music is not only featured on the Flex channel, he also is interviewed by Flex.

The station also gives the rapper a chance to promote his upcoming CD and music, and fans can purchase songs they tag during play later on iTunes.

“It kind of shows the reach of video games to influence people to buy music,” said Pavlovich. “That’s why it’s important for people like Busta, when they have new material. He is pushing an album in this. … That’s part of the whole thing that we do that’s really important to us, is turning people on to new music. “

Rockstar Games has just sent me four new pieces of artwork for Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned. They are in a very large format, so I have shrunk them down and uploaded them. You can view them at the bottom of this post. I apologize for the typo error made in the last update, it should’ve been “Angels of Death” and not “Angles of Death”.

The images released today include artworks of Billy Grey - the President of The Lost, Johnny Klebitz - our main character and Vice President of The Lost, as well as an unnamed Biker Chick, which can also be seen in the Box Art of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned. Several other unreleased artworks are Clay and a few others, so be stay tuned for more!

IGN has been known to be quite a reliable video games site, although now it is often over-shadowed by other sites like Kotaku. But that’s besides the point. The point is, IGN has just posted a feature called “Screenshot-A-Day” for Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, meaning that they will release a new screenshot everyday, until the release day on February 17th, 2009.

Well, why not release a new video every day instead? Well, screenshots are a start, aren’t they? Today is the first day this feature has been on-going, so there is the screenshot, right at the bottom of this post. Today, the official Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto IV: Lost and Damned websites received more updates, with two spoof commercials for a new WKKT radio show - “The Martin Serious Show” (as well as a spoof message board here), and a promotional video for the new “Republican Space Rangers” TV animated show in-game.

Also, along with the updates, there is now a new screenshot of Ashley Butler, “a party girl who has partied too much”, which, if you remember, is the girlfriend of Ray Boccino in Grand Theft Auto IV, which was related to The Lost biker gang and Johnny Klebitz, as you can see in the new trailer which was released earlier today in this news post.

There is a surprise for all of us here today! GameTrailers has just received an exclusive trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, which features Johnny Klebitz, our main man in this Downloadable Episode of Grand Theft Auto IV (it is now available on the official website). Also, the Official Site has received an update with six new screenshots! Check them out!

The trailer is rather lengthy, and it’s nothing we can’t do in the video editor for the Windows version of Grand Theft Auto IV, but it’s an interesting video nevertheless, also featuring explosions, car and bike chases, as well as some very interesting jump-cuts and dialogue. Watch and download the trailer from the official site!

The song featured in the trailer is known as Nouveau American by Brazilian Girls. Thanks to Slim Trashman from GTAGaming for the heads up, as well as his iPhone and the Shazam application (Apple saves the day, again! Well, you’ll expect that I’d write this, since I’m typing this out on a MacBook.)

Bet you have forgotten about Grand Theft Auto IV for the PC, haven’t you? Haven’t heard from Rockstar Games for over a month? Don’t worry, Rockstar Games have announced today, the second patch for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV, version 1.0.2.0, which allegedly fixes a bunch of problems. It seems that the guys over at Toronto have been working hard, I guess.

The Official Website of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned has just been updated, with more than just Screenshots and a Trailer. Two new trailers have been added, along with the official BoxArt and “Game Information” and “Exclusive Game Features” that will most probably be on the back of a case if you decide to purchase from GameStop. Also, the MTV Multiplayer Blog has posted an article that unsurprisingly reveals that Niko Bellic, our main character in Grand Theft Auto IV, won’t have any new lines of dialogue in Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned. Like I said, it’s nothing surprising, due to the fact that Johnny Klebitz and Niko Bellic only cross paths in the same few missions that were in Grand Theft Auto IV.

Anyway, this is all that we have got! It’s surprisingly lots of new information and media that we have recieved so far. More than I have expected anyway, but don’t let your guards down, there may be more new exciting information and media coming our way, especially when the official website teases us about the Multiplayer modes! The first previews of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned have just been released online, resulting in a surge of information like the Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars previews. Today’s previews have revealed lots of information and a total of thirty-three screenshots have been released, which you can view by reading the rest of this entry.

Summary of points:

• It will cost 1600 Microsoft Points or US$20.
• There will be about 20 Missions altogether, with more than 10 hours of added gameplay.
• Some missions can be restarted at halfway points.
• There are no additions to the Liberty City map beisdes interiors.
• There will be more buildings with interiors, mostly linked to new missions, and most of the old interiors from Grand Theft Auto IV are inaccesible.
• Johnny Klebitz is the vice president of The Lost, and the story begins when Billy returns from rehab to lead the gang once again. In Billy’s absence, Johnny lead The Lost and called a truce with their rivals, The Angels of Death. When Billy returns, he is not fond of the idea of a truce and one action-packed mission will see The Lost gang attacking the Angels of Death’s clubhouse.
• The Lost safehouse will have mini-games like a hi-low card game, an arm wrestling game, and getting weapons delivered from friends like Lil Jacob, as well as Ammunation, will all be available in the safehouse.
• Johnny’s bike is available outside the safehouse, and if you trash it Clay can order someone to bring over another one.
• One mission named “Buyer’s Market” shows how Johnny crosses paths with Niko Bellic and Playboy X via Elizabeta, which is Johnny’s perspective of the mission “Blow Your Cover” from Grand Theft Auto IV.
• New weapons include a 9MM automatic pistol, a sawn-off shotgun, an assault shotgun, a grenade launcher, and pipe bombs.
• New music will be available for tthe Liberty City Hardcore radio station, as well as Liberty Rock Radio and a new Metal station (note: a new “Metal” station, not a “New Metal” station), as well as new television content, internet content, and pedestrian chatter will be introduced.
• Riding with the gang makes The Lost gang logo appear and the ground, and allows Johnny to receive health boosts when you stay within the region the logo appears in.
• The Lost gang memebers will have inidividual statistics, where you can press Down on the D-Pad to view. These statistics such as experience levels will be upgraded when you pass a mission with them alive. However, if one of the members are dead they will be replaced with one of a lower skill level, so a team-based approach is needed.
• The interface has a grungier look then before, especially the metal-styled mobile phone that Johnny owns, the scrratched-up HUD and Mini-Map, and a grain filter that gives it a subtle dark atmosphere. The Pause Menu also has some subtle touches that differs from Grand Theft Auto IV’s.
• Johnny already has friends in his mobile phones, access to vehicles, weapons, and safehouses scattered around the city, and players can jump straight into the action straight away.
• Changes and additions made in Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned will not be integrated into Grand Theft Auto IV, which will be unaffected totally.
• Lastly, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned will be accesed from the Game menu in Grand Theft Auto IV, and not through Niko Bellic’s mobile phone, although new menus may be added to Grand Theft Auto IV’s current interface.

I’m sorry for the late update, and the fact that I had to borrow GTAGaming’s summary of points for a while, which was, by the way, incomplete, so I have written my own summary of information that have been revealed in these previews. Yes, I am well aware that we are 21 (or 22) days into the year of 2009. Unfortunately, Niko Bellic and his friends (as well as his enemies), are still stuck in 2008. Yeah, that’s right, but Tommy Vercetti is still stuck in 1986, sadly. Well, ok, let’s not beat about the bush. Talking about bushes, today I shall present to you, nope, not a video of Obama’s inauguration speech, but the long-delayed Fourth episode of Liberty ‘08, which is right on time for a new year (Chinese New Year as well) and a new American president.

It’s called “Chinatown Wars”. And rightfully so, because it’s about a Rocket Launcher (RPG) deathmatch between two groups of hustlers in Bohan eventually leading to Chinatown, where the rest of the battle takes place. Besides the naming cue taken from Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, this video bears no other similarity to the upcoming Nintendo DS Grand Theft Auto game, so just take note, in case you were expecting a Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars trailer.

The video is actually made within a span of a few weeks, using a couple of clips from three different Ranked Team Deathmatch games on Games for Windows - LIVE with weapons set to only Rocket Launchers. It was fun, crazy and turned into an all-out war. I actually lost all the matches I have played just to capture these videos but it was fun nevertheless.

Yesterday, we have reported that the EDGE magazine have posted online one of the previews of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, extracted from their February 2009 issue. Today, however, we have a ton more of previews that were published online by several online video gaming publications. However, please note that all of the previewers do not claim the same thing, due to some miscommunication on the journalists’ parts, but we have compiled a list of known information from the previews.

Please excuse me for posting this a little late. I’m living in Asia, like Huang Lee - on the other side of the world unlike most of you guys, so please bear with me for the timezone differences! It took a long time for me to sort out most of the pictures and finally upload them, so I hope you will enjoy it! Below are the links to the previews from each site, as well as a summary of the new information.

The stylus is immediately put to use at the start of the game, when Huang Lee must break out of a car sinking in the river and swim to shore.

Audio is fairly lacking due to cartridge size. The game has some original tracks, grouped into several radio stations spanning from Traditional Eastern to Modern Western, but all licensed songs are “instrumentals”. There will also be some original tracks in the game (loading tunes, theme songs, etc.)

IGN reports that “F-bombs are dropped [by pedestrians] quite frequently, and an audio bite is also played when you boot up your Nintendo DS back from standby mode.”

You’ll be able to climb up fire escapes to reach rooftops.

To lose your wanted level you need to take out the nearby policemen, and can also run away from them. The police car icons below your stars indicate how many policemen are left.

Doing burnouts before driving off gives you a speed boost, and flames will shoot out of your exhaust, allowing you to set fire to any pedestrians behind you.

To get Molotov cocktails, you can go up to a gas pump and fill up as many bottles as you can in the allotted time.

The PDA, which is customizable to your liking, serves as your email and text message viewer (Badger), GPS with waypoints and favorite locations, contact database, music player, money manager, and gun shop (Ammunation Online).

There will be two camera angles selectable on the bottom screen, the Cinematic view and the standard, Isometric Three-Dimensional view.

Driving auto-alignment assists can be turned on or off, as well as auto camera rotation, waypoint appearances on the top screen as well and auto-aim.

The safehouse, as well as other interiors in-game, will be a two-dimensional illustration with several options available (see illustration above).

EDGE, a United Kingdom based video games publication, has just recently published a new article on Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars online, extracted from the February 2009 issue. It also came with two new screenshots, with some others that are exclusive to the print version of the magazine, which I will try to provide scans to.

Grand Theft Auto for the GameBoy Advance was not much of a success, but Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, the second Grand Theft Auto game to appear on a Nintendo platform since Grand Theft Auto III, seems more of a serious effort than Grand Theft Auto Advance, with Kojima-like cutscenes clocking at 168 Minutes in total, according to the British Board of Film Classification.

In case anyone is wondering, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars’ cutscenes will be presented in a similar fashion to that of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Op’s, which worked quite well for Kojima productions in that case. All in all, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars looks like it will probably not disappoint Grand Theft Auto fans when it hits on March 17th 2009, as it looks more promising than its predecessor, which did not live up to the standards of most Grand Theft Auto games.

Also, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will hold a record as the first and only Nintendo DS title to receive the British Board of Film Classification’s highest age rating - 18, which means that people under 18 are not legally allowed to purchase a copy for themselves. This itself may expand Nintendo’s market to not only include Children, but also Adult gamers.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is also described to contain “very strong language and drug references”, which holds true to Grand Theft Auto tradition, with the Liberty City seen in Grand Theft Auto IV, minus Alderney state, leaving Broker, Dukes, Bohan and Algonquin fre for players to explore.

Ok, we also got an update, so listen up! The newest issue of the EDGE Video Games magazine publication in the United Kingdom has already been released, with a new preview of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. There are some small new bits of information there, but the most important point is, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has already finished development and is now undergoing beta testing to identify bugs and glitches. The rest of the information is listed below, thanks to Neil Christie from Grand Theft Auto Gaming!

• The Satellite navigation system is “identical” to GTA IVs in appearance and functionality.
• Ammunation has gone online! You order weapons with your PDA and they show up at your safehouse.
• You can replay any mission by selecting it from a menu in the safehouse.
• Grenades and molotovs are thrown using the touch screen - you touch one and drag it, with an indicator on the top screen (where the action is) showing you where it’s going to land.
• The A button is used to fire weapons.
• One minigame involves assembling all of the parts of a sniper rifle with the touch screen, before using it to assassinate a designated target.
• Another touch-sensitive mini-game will be paying bridge tolls - you push the coin into the slot to get through the barrier.

While some might perceive them to be gimmicky, EDGE describes the mini games as being “short” and “smoothly integrated”.

Yes, I am fully aware that it has been already nine days into the new year, and we haven’t got anything big enough from the Grand Theft Auto news scene for you. I have been busy for the past few weeks, and I will be for the rest of this year, so please excuse me for the lack of posting, though I will try to update the weblog when major Grand Theft Auto news comes out.

Today, however, we have one new screenshot for you of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, which was sourced from TeamXbox, an Xbox and Xbox 360 fan website. In case you have yet to know, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned is a piece of downloadable episodic content pack coming exclusive to the Xbox 360.

Also, this past week, Grand Theft Auto fanatics and code junkies have already made major progress in Grand Theft Auto IV modfications for the PC version. I am unable to keep up with the Grand Theft Auto IV modding scene, but you can look at our parent site, Multiplayer Network, which has an almost exhaustive database full of Grand Theft Auto IV modifications ready for your download over at Grand Theft Auto HQ.
