December news and HAPPY NEW YEAR

Well what can I say…I have been busy busy ! We had a great December month and now January is over! ahhhhhhh these months keep catching me ! Here is a little look at what was going on around here in December and a few pix of our super fun new years party……

So it is finally happening Sashi is surfing! we cant believe it and are so happy that she enjoys it…

Leela is growing up too fast but still loves the beach and always will I think….

I cut my hair this year if you didn’t see me this year ( yes this is big news around here ) and these are sashi’s photo skills here….

My mom was here to enjoy the holidays with us ( Gracie )

the party was on…… Travis, Luz, MJ, Tio Kevin and many other friends to bring in the new year….was so much fun

all in all it was a great year and end of year party …Thank you to everyone who continue to support us lets have some more fun this year!!!!

SOCCER team needs help!

Hello all ! here are a few pics of the “surfistas” soccer team.
They won today! they played against El Viejo and are doing really well!
These guys can really play, we have sponsored them with some uniforms but this is all we could help them with at the moment. Interested??
This soccer team needs help, any used soccer shoes, shin guards, socks would be so greatly appreciated!
These items can be dropped off at our house in coconut grove. Shay and I will be there until November 1st and be so happy to take back anything for these guys! You can contact me (loretta) at contact@hotelchancletas.com

chancletas surf club comes through for us again!

This last Sunday, The surf club along with some very hard working guests of ours went to the school to clean up the weeds and left over construction materials. They also filled in a dangerous old well and fixed some various things like the swing…..The kids will be very happy to come from their week vacation to a clean school! Sadly something that they are not used to…….

after a little snack break we all headed back to the hotel for a very much deserved lunch for all AND a raffle for the surfer kids!……..

Sorry to all! as I was away for a month came back, so busy with the hotel and the kids its hard for me to get a minute to myself as you all have seen me running all around the place!
We had some guests for lunch that asked me about the puppies…. then I thought…Hey people do read the blog! So
here you go

Other exciting news..Leela turns 3….

she had an awesome party! with all her little friends was so nice but it did rain…..

Sashi was in her first folklore dance show….most of you that have been here know that she does dance class every saturday and now all that hard work pays off…

oh yeah and the waves lol!

Something else the local kids can get into….. Skateboarding, either way as long as there is something positive for them to get into!

Volcan Cosiguina !

Hello Everyone! another great hike to cosiguina ! even though when I did it with the girls we were on horseback. An amazing couple came all the way from Whales, Ali and Nole. they are crazy about hiking and running up mountains and such……

even though pictures do no justice, it really is one of those breathtaking moments when you reach the top and can see the huge crater lake and the pacific along with Honduras and El Salvador all at the same time!

again, not very clear but you get the idea……

here it is as they get a bit closer…

These 2 make it look so easy that I ALMOST want to hike it myself, but probably wont

Ruben looks happy…but I think he is really nervous as the lake below is about 1640 feet down….I was a bit nervous myself…but the beauty just incredible.

Chancletas “Maru” has her 6 pups!

Since everyone was asking me to put some pix up here you go!
Maru had her 6 puppies 2 nights ago…all by herself, she made a cave
to protect her puppies in and when we woke up in the morning she
had done all the hard work by herself!

2nd annual local surf contest in Aserradores……

Today was such an exciting day and we had the most people show up to the beach ever to date~!!!
so just want to say thank you to all the local surf kids and to everyone that helped us make this day amazing!
here are a few pix of the days events…. and a very special FELICIDADES to all the contestants!

the day started out with so much excitement you could feel it in the air!

the competition just kept getting better and better!!………..

we were all really getting into it…. so here are the rest of the pictures from the days events and I hope that you enjoy them as much as we did!

so we thought well thats as good as it gets!! elton in the barrel ! and then…..

so we all waited for the scores and

the other contestants …… nilser/ oscar / pinsa / roger / tingo / alex….winner of last years shampuu division !

then there were 2 and we were all so nervous for them both…..

so again for the 2nd year in a row the champion Isaac Rodriguez ……

There were the Winners and the losers but we all did have an amazing day

to finish the day we invited all the surfers to enjoy PITA’S from chinandega, wow these were good!!! Jesse was the one that told us about this gyro guy!

here are the guys enjoying the final raffle of the day were we gave away all your goodies that you donate…… surfboards, leaches, board shorts, t-shirts, shoes, wax and anything surf related so they were all really stoked!

The local school in Aserradores

Hey everyone, sorry its been a bit since I last posted but I had to come up with something good
school starts February 15th here in our little town and they need a new bathroom!
So with help from most of the local surf club we managed to get something started……

I will be posting many more pictures of the school and I hope that you all enjoy seeing the improvements that all the kids need and deserve!
here are some pictures of the progress at the school, everything is coming along well

finished project !!!!
well its not that wonderful but at least all the kids and teachers have somewhere to relieve themselves that has a working door and 2 stalls!

Red bricks for family fun day….

I hope everyone is having a great new year! Wanted to share with you all this last sunday the girls shay and I had our family fun day in which we go out and about exploring and we found this beautiful family that make their own red bricks and sell them….
the mothers name was margarita as was the eldest daughter, they invited us into their home to see how they make the bricks all come together….we had a great day with the family and the girls enjoyed getting a little dirty, feeding the chickens, petting the deer and playing with the other children…..
So….please feel free to bring your family as well and we would love to take them on adventures to enrich their souls! see you soon
