Good novella and love these two!

Clay and Julia are one of my favorite couples from Lauren’s books. It was awesome to check in on them and see how they were doing. I love the relationship that Clay and Julia have. They are each other’s biggest supporter and the love that they have for one another is incredible. My heart was swooning all over the place as I was reading. It seems that married life and parenthood haven’t change them much. Clay is still the best dirty talker and I was getting chills reading his thoughts and sayings. But not only that, I love seeing the interactions that he had with his daughter Carly-so sweet. Reading this story just made my heart happy. Overall, this is a great novella to see about some old friends. The surprise appearances from other characters of Lauren was a welcomed addition. I love anything about Clay and Julia and I am glad that Lauren was able to give us more.

I loved how Clay is all alpha and dirty talking, but when it comes to that cute little 6 year old, he becomes the most sexy dad ever! ----Six years old and she already knew how to work him. A compliment, a sweet word, a hug, and he melted in her little hand. -----Julia leaned against the doorway, her heart thumping harder as she watched the two of them. Carly was a daddy’s girl, and that delighted Julia. Little could make her happier than seeing her baby girl worshipping her father. A smile spread across her lips as she watched her big, strong husband, the man who had the filthiest mouth in the land, easily slide into his other role as the kindest, most loving father.

Another great Ruth Galloway Mystery. The characters, the descriptions of countryside, the numerous possible and known villains, murder - it has it all. With each passage the characters come to life as Elly Griffiths lets us into the minds of Ruth, Harry and all the others. We see who they are and understand how they feel and how they put all the puzzle pieces of the mystery and their lives in place. As I finish each book in this series I want to pick up another one to read. Will seem like a long year without a new Ruth Galloway and her Harry Nelson.

Fascinating, disturbing, important

I learned so so much about the world, where it came from, where we came from, what we are, where it might all be going. The more I learned, the more adrift in the meaninglessness of life i became. I would look at society, buildings, conflicts, plans.... everything was reduced to a reminder that all this is is spinning atoms,organized stardust. Is meaning or purpose or even life itself just an illusion? Is it all just random, accidental? Going nowhere? Before this book i could live in a relatively content bubble of a sense of meaning, purpose, control, and yes, a belief that something greater was behind it all, to somehow make it all make sense, a plan, a reason. Now, i have all that thrown into severe doubt, and i live daily with a bleak loss of the comfort of the illusion. But, it’s important to learn everything this book has compiled, to make an educated decision of how to view life.

I'm incredulous of the amount of research Bryson put into this book. He really took the time to go above and beyond toward realms of thought and inquiry far outreaching his scope as an author. I can't help but appreciate the immensity of this work. I encourage anybody of a high school reading level to give this book a chance. The beginning is breathtakingly illustrative of concepts otherwise unimaginable to the average Joe, and what's more, Bryson's language does little to obstruct or obscure the big picture. So much literature of this nature is dismissed on account of lofty diction and esoteric jargon, but this particular book is a breath of fresh air for anybody with even a subtle interest in science and natural history wanting to better understand it all. All that keeps this book from a five-star rating are the brief periods of dry material which prove necessary in compiling a vast summary of time so succinctly. It's a picky critique and easily overlooked.

Not Worth It

Save yourself a couple bucks and buy the regular edition of this book. The illustrations are really just google search worthy, and frankly just take away from the writing. Some of the illustrations were cartoons from the newspaper vaguely referencing the subject, and others are low resolution pictures of nebula and other spacy things (clearly I'm no expert). Overall not worth it, though the regular text is brilliant. I love it.

WOW!!! This book has left me speechless. Where do I even begin. Well let me just say that the love between Ava and Joel is beautiful (past and present). Through the whole story you could feel the pain and the joy they felt. Every time I finished a chapter I wanted to know what was going to happen next. This book has passion, pain, and humor. The banter between the characters was amazing. I was literally laughing out loud at times. I really did not want the story to end. When I did reached the end I just want more of Ava and Joel and their amazing story. If you are looking for something that will touch your heart, then you should read this book. I've never written a book review but once I read Hopeful I had to share my thoughts. Again, AMAZING!! I have read all of this authors books and loved each and everyone of them. I give this book five stars because it so deserves it.

Read this book

I have read almost all of VI’s entire collection. This is one of her most developed stories and I couldn’t put it down. I was surprised because this didn’t have a ton of ratings. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this one because of the teacher student storyline, but man am I glad I kept reading. It was by far either the best, or second best book in her collection. The storyline, character development, and plot timing was impactful and heartwarming. A great read.

This story was more than your traditional student/teacher romp fest. This story had edge, and spirit, and it packed a little bit of a bite. Caine and Rachel were fated for each other. I wish I could tell you all the reasons why, but I refuse to spoil this amazing book for all of you. Just know this— Their chemistry is INSANE! Even when they aren’t trying, they pack on the heat. That’s not all though. They also keep each other grounded, and provide each other with whatever missing piece they’re currently missing. I loved this couple so much. That’s not all, the support characters where amazing too! Charlie is totally my favorite. This story hits some dark, and deep, notes, and the angst is thick. You gets to really feel these characters out, and see them thrive despite pasts that were meant to tear them down. This book has all the feels, and it’s wonderful in every way. I loved this book, and I’m so excited to recommend it to every romance reader I know. You should ABSOLUTELY read this dang book!

Wow this book was so good. I really liked the fact that the male character didn’t have a previous relationship that left a mark. This book def had me in my feelings. I felt that Rachel was a little dramatic in some parts but I could look past it due to her childhood. That end was so beautiful. Def recommend reading this book

Lord Jesus Help My Heart!!!

Long story short, I watch a lot of movies and I read a lot of books, that being said, I have been gifted (practice makes perfect) the sixth sense of accurate ”plot guessing”... Even though I figured out the twist early on, I still cried like a baby when I finished the book.. I mean day-good-gah just take my heart and slap it silly! I recommend this book if, when you’re finished, you want to just smile with satisfaction.

Funny and Interesting

Beautiful Mistake is a very entertaining book! The beginning of the book and how Rachel and Caine meet is super funny. Their relationship is filled with banter and flirting, neither knowing what they really want from each other. At first I thought it was a little like Bossman with Caine's storyline, but as more and more happened it became much different and unique. I didn't always like having to wait to find out Rachel and Caine's secrets, but it definitely kept me guessing and wanting to know what actually happened in their pasts. I liked that we did get some present tense Caine chapters after a while, I still would have liked some more, but I enjoyed what we got from him. Their story and history is very unique. It's sad yet special. I really like how everything connected and ended up playing out. The epilogue was cute, I just wish it could have been longer.

I wish the author researched the NYC lifestyle more. I'm a New Yorker, and people don't drive back and fourth between Brooklyn and Manhattan like that. Especially someone who is 25 and a bartender/waitress in Midtown Manhattan. Why would you work in midtown, live in Brooklyn, and also go to Brooklyn college which is deep Brooklyn. Based off of Rachel's lifestyle, she would have paid over 1k a month in just parking, if not more. She should have used another city for this book. The inaccuracies annoyed me so much.

Reports to work Monday, oops non arsehole guy that didn’t hurt your friend, that you cursed out, yeah he’s your new boss And finally, The writing by style was great. Witty. Funny. But oh the feels. Not going to explain this but there’s a heavier story line than the blurb implies. Read it. It’s sooooo great. Hot hot hot. When it finally gets hot, there’s a slow burn for first 40% of book. But it worked. I legit loved both these characters and think Caine may just be one of a kind. Highly. Highly recommend

Turns out the guy on the receiving end of her tirade isn't the lying cheater. Oops! A case of mistaken identity. Apology made and accepted. The following day Rachel is dreading her assignment as teaching assistant to Professor Caine West, who's known as something of an ogre who doesn't tolerate tardiness. Running late as usual, Rachel's chagrin is multiplied when the professor turns out to be the recipient of her verbal attack of the previous night. This time, a whopping Oops! Books coming go. Authors write good stories; sometimes they are not so good. You have cheesy, Insta love and Novellas. They pass the time. They give you an outlet. They are a hobby. But every once in a while one comes along and it truly means something. This is one of them. It's been along time since I have been moved by an author's work. This is an absolutely gift read. This was a true test of faith and a major wonder of forgiveness. The journey and significance of the path both Rachel and Cain made came from a divine intervention. There is no such thing as a coincidence. Things happen for reason (reasons only have meaning to the giver/receiver). Along the way I lost my faith but something happened to me to restore it. I believe the answer is always there you just need to have faith that you'll find it. This is a wonderful love story. I can write how good the intimate scenes were. Or how much Cain was a jerk. Or even that Rachel could be juvenile at times. None of that matters. It was just bricks that pave the road towards the ultimate journey. They found themselves. They found forgiveness. They found love. I can't imagine how how long it took to write this. The significance of the tattoo was amazing. I think the pennies got to me the most. I believe that's where I cried the hardest. I did enjoy this book but it was so much more than a great read. Rachel's letter really put things into perspective. It's amazing how things come full circle. I highly recommend. Thanks for the inspiration. It's just what I needed today.

Fate - Definitely, Feisty- Definitely

I loved VI's story about Caine and Rachel. This story made me cry, laugh and believe in destiny or fate. It is touching on so many levels. You just need to read to experience these characters, their relationship, and the characters in their lives that play such important parts of who Rachel and Caine were and who they become. Did I mention it is also sexy, because it most definitely is! Enjoy!

She can really write a story

This story grabbed me on the first page and held me till the last word. I have read many of VI's books and she can really write a good book. I loved the story and Caine was a special man. Enjoy!

Such a touching story!

Such a touching story! I absolutely loved this book. Heck, I love ANYTHING that Vi creates. But this story was amazing on so many levels. I really liked Rachel. Talk about sassy. But even with her interesting character traits, she had a very rough past that really had me rooting for her to find her happy ending. Caine was perfect. I loved how he didn't take any guff from Rachel and how he tried his best to follow his moral compass, even when it tore him up inside. The story had a really cool twist to it that I won't spoil. Little clues were dropped throughout the story as to what the twist was, and I was so happy with the end result! All in all, this is exactly the caliber of story that I've come to expect from Vi, and it's yet another reminder of why will read ANYTHING she writes! (I received a copy of this book in consideration of an honest review)
