1995 Jeep Cherokee, just turned over 102,000 miles. Has aluminum wheels, trailer hitch, new windshield and rear view mirror, new radio and speakers. Overall condition is good, drivers side rocker has a little rust and the front end is a little banged up, but everything on it works and the engine is in tip top shape. Regular oil changes since we’ve owned it. Four wheel drive works fine and it drives as straight as an arrow. It does not use or burn any oil. Headliner has seen better days, but overall interior is in good shape. Transmission is automatic. Great car for a teen just starting to drive (need to keep them safe) or use for a second vehicle. Busy Weekend

We had a pretty busy pre-spring weekend. The nice weather motivated us to get out and do a little spring cleaning. We washed down the front of the house, removed the 4 shutters, sanded them, repainted them and get them back up before dark. We managed to make time for the dogs to run around the yard and to take Mabel, our pineapple conure, outside to soak up some rays. It was a great weekend!

Unfortunately, the car that will never be. Who in their right mind can’t look at this car and fall completely in love with it? Maybe an aftermarket kit for the new Camaro will be available that will allow Pontiac lovers to convert their Camaro SS into what the beloved Trans Am might have been.

New Bathroom Framing Complete

This weekend, we completed all of the framing in the new downstairs bathroom. We knew that out of all of the framing we’ve done for each room, this would be the most difficult, so getting it complete is a huge milestone. We made a trip to Lowes to pick out the tile and border that we’ll be using in the shower. But before we can begin hanging sheetrock, I need to get a contractor in to give us an estimate for hanging the tile, plus I have a little more wiring to do. We also still need to pick out the light fixtures and vanity, plus install the spigot for the shower. Sounds like a lot, but this is the easy stuff. We will be so glad to finally have this room complete!

Delorean II / Solstice Prototype

Delorean II

Back in October, we discussed the possibility of Delorean reviving the Pontiac Solstice and rebadging it as the Delorean II. Well, this picture has started floating around the web as the first possible working prototype of the new Delorean II. I do see the simularities with it and the Solstice, especially the windshield framing and A pillars. If this is indeed the new Delorean, then I may have to forget about a new Camaro or Challenger and start saving my pennies for this…very nice indeed. If anybody can confirm this, please let us know…

Photoset For Our Basement Remodel

This project started in mid September 2008. A complete remodel of our basement, new walls, new plumbing, new electrical, etc. Since we’re doing this ourselves, we allocated 2 years to complete the project. So we’re hoping to be completely finished by the end of September, 2010. Based on estimates, we figure that we’re saving about $28,000.00 doing 99% of the work ourselves. New Bathroom Framing Continues

Ok, haven’t posted any updates for the past couple of weeks as work in the basement has been slow because of Lenora’s back problems and me being sick for the past 5 days. However we have managed to make a lot of progress in between our ailments. All interior walls in the basement are completely framed in now. No more interior walls to build. We’ve concentrated the most on the bathroom as we’d like to have it complete by spring. The new bathroom is 95% wired and 95% framed. It’s just a matter of hanging sheetrock, installing lights and a few other odds and ends. The biggest being having tile installed in the shower and along one wall. We had thought about doing this ourselves, but I have a friend who’s an expert and I think we’re going to have him come in and give us an estimate. Hopefully he’ll cut us a good deal. If so, I don’t see why we can’t have the bathroom completely finished in a month or so. We still have the air conditioning to contend with, but since it’s still the middle of winter, we’ve sort of put it on the back burner for now.

Framing Out New Bathroom

We’ve spent the past 2 weekends building out the new bathroom in the basement. Last week, we had the original shower window blocked up and started framing in the new shower, closet and walls in the basement bathroom. In the next week or so, we want to start tiling the shower and one wall of the bathroom.

New Year, More Basement Buildout

Well, with the dawn of a new year and the temperature outside a cold 21 degrees, we decided to start working on the basement again after a 2 month break. We actually seem to get more work done in the basement in the winter than we do in the summer, maybe because there’s nothing to do outside when it’s so damned cold. Today, we got 3 more recessed lights installed. One in the entrance of the hallway, one midway down the hallway and one at the foot of the stairs. We also did a lot of wiring. Installed a new breaker in the electrical box, took out a lot of the old 50’s wiring and replaced it with new wiring. All in all, it was a very productive day and we got a lot more done than we had planned. When messing around with electricity, you certainly don’t want to be in a rush. Tomorrow, we may finish haning drywall in the hallway ceiling, chalking up another milestone. We also went to Lowes and purchased a new toilet for the new downstairs bathroom. Though it’ll be a couple of months before it’s ready to install, at least well have it here and ready when the time comes.
