So far, on my low carb diet, I’ve lost a total of 30.1 lbs. Still not eating anymore that 20 net carbs per day, cut way back on diet soda both at home and at work. Drinking much more water and eating more greens and other healthy carbs. I hope to start a more intense workout regiment soon, just have to be able to work into my crazy schedule of “things to do”. I want to be at my goal weight of 210 lbs. to 220 lbs. by spring. At this rate, it should be no problem. I don’t have a “sweet tooth”, so cutting out sugars has been very easy, but I do treat myself to a low carb, sugar free protein bar from time to time. If you get the right ones, they taste no different than a candy bar. However, some of them taste horrible, you just have to try them until you find one that you like.

This app is awesome, especially if you have My Movies installed on your media center host pc/server. My Movies for iPad is the fastest, easiest and most impressive way you have ever kept track of your movie collection. Using or high quality movie database of more than 500,000 titles on DVD and Blu-ray, you quickly get access to a large quantity of details of the titles in your movie collection, including movie trailers, high resolution covers and much, much more.

You can use the application as a standalone product by adding titles by barcode, title searches or manual data entry, or use it as a companion to our My Movies software packages for Microsoft Windows, allowing you to keep your movie collection synchronized between clients. By using the application along with My Movies for iPhone Pro, you can use the camera on your phone to scan barcodes and synchronize the added titles on the iPad.

My Movies for iPad requires you to create a user account, or log on to an existing My Movies account to be able to use the program. Your collection will follow your user account through our online servers, allowing you to switch between different clients without ever losing your data. If you log in to an existing My Movies account, your current collection will automatically be synchronized to your iPad – users of My Movies for iPhone Light or Pro will automatically keep their existing collection.

The application includes an internal database containing all your data, and therefore does not require you to be online to browse through your collection.

As of this morning, I’ve lost a total of 22 pounds on my low carb diet. I’ve also gone down 1 pant size. Todays eatings:

1 Kosher Dill Pickle

1 Adkins Advantage Chocolate Peanut Bar

1 Serving of Buddig Smoked Ham

1 Cheese Hot Dog

1 Fried Hamburger

Few ounces of Hot Pepper Cheese

Total Fat: 47g

Protein: 62.4g

Calories: 773

Total Carbs: 6

Will probably have some greens later this evening.

So, before anybody says anything, I’ve done my homework on low carb dieting. I know that evening having 20g of carbs a day is very low. My first 2 weeks, I’ll keep it under 10g a day, then the following 2 weeks I’ll keep it under 20g a day, eventually settling at around 50g a day.

Every once in a while, I like to plug one of my favorite iPhone or iPad apps. The one I’m plugging today is most awesome, especially if you have a Windows Media Center. Yes, WINDOWS! Ever thought about how awesome it’d be to run your Windows Media Center on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. Well, you can. And it doesn’t take special software, port forwarding, 15 different configuration files or anything that the novice can’t handle. It’ll only cost you $4.99 for the iPhone or iPad. $6.99 for Android devices. The name of the app is called Splashtop HD. Simply install the app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device, then download the free streamer from the Splashtop web site and you’re well on your way. Installing the streamer on your mac or pc is very easy. Once it’s installed you’ll need to set up a security code (password) and if you want to stream over the internet (WAN), you’ll need a Gmail account. This will allow you to connect to your media center or any other pc from anywhere! I won’t go into great detail about setting up the streamer because it’s pretty much a no brainer. If you have any questions, please feel free to send them my way.
Ok, you have the app installed on your device, you have the streamer (which runs as a service) on your media center pc (or any other pc or mac). So now it’s time to tap away. Open the Splashtop app on your device.

Your splash screen will open as shown in image 1 above. On the next screen, you’ll be able to see all of your computers that you have the splashtop streamer running on, image 2 above. Just tap on the machine that you want to connect to, in this case, we’ll tap on the Media_Center pc. Next, you’ll be greeted with the password screen, image 3. Here, you’ll enter the password that you specified when you set up the stream on the pc. Once you’ve entered your password, your desktop will load. The beauty of this app is that it passes audio in the stream as well. Take a glance of the on screen instructions, then play around for awhile to get use to the mouse movement. Then launch Windows Media Center, image 4. That’s it! That’s all there is to it. Work your media center just as you would if you were sitting in front of your tv at home. Is this the best way to get Windows Media Center on your iPad, iPhone or Android device? That’s for you to decide, but for me, it works flawlessly. I was streaming movies from my Media Center pc at home to my iPad at work today and it never skipped a beat. Good luck and again, if you have any questions or problems, just let me know!

There are no prizes, I’m afraid, for deducing from the entomological etymology that this is an all-electric variant of the classic VW Beetle. Kudos, though, if you identified that the name betrays the E-Bugster’s shared DNA with the Ragster, VW’s 2005 concept which itself informed the conventional Beetle of today. But enough on the name, let’s take a look at the specs.
Beneath those familiar, svelte curves of the exoskeleton is an 85 kW electric motor which can see the E-Bugster from 0 to 60 mph (96.5 km/h) in a fairly leisurely 10.9 seconds. More importantly, the 28.3 kWh battery is good for an impressive range, VW says, of at least 110 miles (177 km) while it claims that battery can be completely recharged in a mere 35 minutes.

The range is bolstered by a kinetic energy recover system which charges the battery whenever the driver steps off the accelerator (provided the car’s in motion), and more when under braking. The process is visualized on the dash, as are battery state, remaining range, and power use.

This fast-charge capability comes courtesy of the Combined Charging System we discussed back in October, which makes possible charging from single-phase AC sources (i.e. your domestic mains), provided an industry standard for plugs and sockets can be nailed down. “Ultra-fast” charging would be possible at dedicated DC charging stations.
If you’ve taken a look at the pics, you may have noticed that VW is shooting for a sportier, roadster look with the E-Bugster. At 4,278 mm (168.4 inches), the E-Bugster’s the same length as your common or garden Beetle, but with a width of 1,838 mm (72.4 in.), it’s some 30 mm (1.2 in.) broader. It’s also 90 mm (3.5 in.) lower than a standard Beetle, standing at 1,400 mm (55.1 in.) high. A low gradient windscreen and flared wheel arches complete the look.

There are bells and whistles, too. Judging by the press release, VW is proud of the ignition procedure:

“Starting the E-Bugster is pure theatre: upon pressing the Start button the interior is bathed in white light, then blue light. It starts with a light pulse in the instrument cluster, from where the light emanates in a millimeter-wide strip, coursing into the doors and around the air nozzles.”
LED running lights surround the central air intake at the front of the E-Bugster, with reflectors doing the job to the rear. Twenty-inch alloy wheels are adapted from the 18-inch alloys of the Beetle. A chrome trim hugs the underside of the side windows, looping around the E-Bugster’s abdomen. Inside, door handles and seatbelt guides are fashioned from aluminum.

Yet the E-Bugster remains a concept. Would-be bug hunters will just have to make do with a conventional Beetle and cross their fingers for an electric model sooner rather than later. It’ll come. If it becomes a realty, I must have one!!!!
