FYI: photos such as those taken for school pictures are copyrighted. I learned this when I attempted to have them saved to a disk by a professional company. None would touch them without written releases which are time consuming and sometimes expensive. I now tell my own kids to get those written releases when they have their children's pictures taken in case they want to put them in a journal or aon a cd in the future.

So if you plan to sell jewelry with the commercial photos, be careful because they are copyrighted.

But of course you can wear it! You just think you can't!

It's far too pretty to use on housewares!!!

Do hang it vertically. Make a gorgeous beaded tassel to balance the piece and give it movement. I've made many necklaces with focals that size and larger, including several for my mom who is 5'1" tall. The key to wearing a honker like this is balance... you don't want it hanging from a dainty thin strand, LOL. If you'd like, email me at barb AT cohan DOT com and I'll send you a sketch of what I mean.

It *is* a stunner, BTW. Did they tell you what technique was used for the carving? I'd bet it's battuto, where the finished bead is held against a spinning grinder wheel to cut away parts of its surface.

I think you got a good deal on it. Funny, the most expensive bead I every bought was a honker, as well.

Carlotta, thanks for saying that. I was feeling a little miffed, but sometimes you just have to let things go. Life is short. I have enough drama in my life as it is. If you've ever had a 6 year-old daughter you know what I mean. :)

Bless you for taking the higher road Christine. There are too many other great items and tutorials, and individuals, to showcase without focusing energy on one angry individual.

I should invite her to take your marketing lessons.LOL.

Smiles,
