First of all, let me tell you that three separate people told me that it would be a bad idea for me to post this blog article.  In particular, they warned me that where they are, the black community has basically put out hits on any white people who have stood up in defense of George Zimmerman.   In fact, I know a couple of people in my life who I’m pretty sure might actually come at me physically for this blog post based on their maturity level and the fact that they like to solve problems with their fists and not their words – but here it goes anyway.  If I end up in a ditch somewhere bloody and bruised in the next week, y’all know what happened.  

New medical reports were leaked recently that show that George Zimmerman, who is half white, and half hispanic – was assaulted prior to the shooting of Trayvon Martin, who was black.   Zimmerman sustained two black eyes, a broken nose, and cuts on the back of his head which were strong enough to draw blood.  The autopsy report on Travyon Martin shows that he was killed at close range by one gun shot that did not leave his body after entering, and that he had bruised knuckles, one of them where the skin had broken.  In addition, a toxiology report showed that Trayvon had THC in his system.   [ Sources ]

The new reports suggest that the incident might have gone down more similarly to how George Zimmerman originally claimed – that it was self defense against someone who was trespassing in his gated community.

But let’s take a trip down memory lane shall we?   Do you remember when all you saw on facebook was this?

As someone who’s actual collegiate training is an undergrad in Administration of Justice from George Mason University, I had refrained on commenting on what the media had spewed forth regarding the Martin/Zimmerman case – because for the most part, when this story first broke, the media wasn’t showing anything in the way of evidence.  The media was plastering Martin’s grieving family all over the news talking about how their child was a saint.  Sharpton, Jackson, and even President Obama ended up throwing their opinion at the media as well.   People active in social media were creating things such as the pictures you see above, which were made to obviously stir up the communities based on perceived racial injustices and biases.

All of a sudden, if you weren’t for Trayvon, and for George Zimmerman being locked up, you were a racist.  If you didn’t believe that justice had to be carried out before hearing all the facts, you were a racist.    The New Black Panathers offered a bounty on George Zimmerman‘s head because the wheels of justice were moving a tad bit too slow for them.  Obama’s Department of Justice put the pressure on the state of Florida to charge Zimmerman with a hate crime, which could include a mandatory life sentence if he was convicted.   In fact, the state of Florida eventually hopped on board and hired a special prosecutor for the case who skipped the whole grand jury part and charged, and arrested Zimmerman for 2nd Degree Murder.

And all of this, based on… what?  What was the evidence – because the evidence being shown now says that the first responders on the scene commented on the state of Trayvon Martin‘s bloody knuckles.   Another first responder stated that George Zimmerman‘s jacket had grass stains on it and appeared to be wet - consistent with Zimmerman’s claim that Martin had held him down.  The FBI analysed the police tapes, and even they can’t say for certain who the cries for help were from, given the rest of the injuries to George Zimmerman it clearly shows that he was assaulted by Trayvon Martin before firing the weapon – and the cries were probably his.

I’ll tell you what it was based on – media bias towards race.  For instance, CNN has admitted that they defied journalistic ethics in their jump to conclusions when they declared police video showed no wounds – which later turned out that it did show wounds.  NBC has admitted that the altered the 911 call which made Zimmerman seem MUCH more racist than he may be.  (You know, they needed to get the ratings.)  And all of the rest of the United States jumped on the, “Put Zimmerman away because he’s a white guy who shot a poor black kid in cold blood” bandwagon without hearing the evidence.

In fact, people jumped on the bandwagon so much that there were other crimes, which went reported far less than the George Zimmerman / Trayvon Martin case BASED on the media bias in this case.  Take for instance the case of Alton Hayes, who physically assaulted a 19 year old white man in Chicago because he was trying to get back at the “white man” for what George Zimmerman had done.   And Matthew Owens, in Alabama was beaten by a group of black youth in a rage over the Trayvon Martin death.   In fact, here in good old Virginia, down in Norfolk, some reporters were even beat by an angry black mob – and that didn’t hit the news until 2 weeks after it happened.  (You can read the editors self serving drivel over here over why it wasn’t reported to the news outlets.)   All of this, because the media didn’t give the full story on Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman, and some of society acted in a blind racially motivated rage?

The tragedy of this case is not the damage that has been to done to George Zimmerman’s life – as he pulled the trigger against someone else and ended their life and should be held accountable for those actions regardless of if he was being attacked… the tragedy of this case is that it proves race relations in the United States currently are deteriorating further than they ever have before.  This was the media obviously provoking the United States into a race related rage – without having all of the evidence – and we all bought into it.  If this was a case of white vs. white, would you have seen so much media coverage?  How about black v. black?  And if you had – would you have thought that the family of Trayvon Martin had bought the media off?  Would you have given George Zimmerman a little more benefit of the doubt?

And what is it about the media that discounted the Hispanic side of George Zimmerman?  Why was his identity defined by only half of his hertiage?  If he had been 100% Hispanic would this story have been news at all?

Do you still believe George Zimmerman is guilty?  Should he be convicted of 2nd degree murder?

Today’s blog post is brought to you courtesy of Terry who forwarded this wonderful article.  I’ll save you the trouble of clicking the link and tell you what’s going on… a town in Pennsylvania put a two lane bridge right in front of a curve.  They marked the speed limit as 35 – but of course, people don’t listen to that.  Because of that, four drivers in the past 2 years have gone sliding into this couples home.

“My house got hit in December, my house got hit in March and my house got hit in May,” Sonya Schenewolf said with disbelief. “And a year before that, my car and my garage got hit.”

Apparently, the town is saying that they can’t put a boulder in their yard because, “they have been told that such an obstacle would make them liable for any damage to a rogue driver.”

I’m just going on a hunch here – but let us look at the facts:

- Government puts in a two lane bridge
- Government assigns a speed limit
- People don’t listen to this speed limit and end up in house at end of bridge

It would seem to me that the people who ended up in their house are the ones liable.  Even if they put a huge boulder in their yard – which is much better to hit than a house.  A boulder, while it may cause more damage to the stupid driver, wouldn’t have anyone living or breathing inside of it.

But you know what really gets me about this story?  The fact that the state of Pennsylvania didn’t see fit to put a guard rail up around this corner with the house so close there.   Why aren’t the people who live in that house  petitioning the city for something like this?

This could prevent someone from going into their house.

I’m very confused.

Let me tell you a not-so-huge secret about myself.  I am addicted to 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom.  I watch them religiously, and while I could say it’s because it’s junk TV and I’m addicted to that – it’s really because it’s sort of a weird self punishment / validation thing.  10 years ago I was 17 and pregnant, and I made the decision to have an abortion instead of having the child.

Lately, for reasons you all will never know, I’ve been thinking a lot about the abortion and how my life would be changed right now if I hadn’t done it.  First, there’s the obvious – I’d have a 10 year old boy or girl, I’d be 8 years away from them attending college.

Now, the less obvious – I wouldn’t have had all the relationships I had – but considering how the last one went, would that really be such a bad thing?  Would I have gone to college?  You betcha – because that’s the kind of person I am – it just would’ve taken a little longer.

Half my friendships wouldn’t exist but I’d probably have other ones to replace them that would be equally as fulfilling in a different way.  The baby daddy still wouldn’t be in the picture because honestly he’s a waste of space – and I’d still be okay with that.

I wouldn’t have moved to Madison – or maybe I would have, and actually stayed because I wouldn’t have had Charlie here because I never would have met him.  My parents would still be retiring, and my brother and I might have a better relationship than the one we have now – especially if I had given birth to a little boy.

Honestly, I’d probably be in the same job I’m in right now.

See – the thing that I’m realizing, looking back on this decision 10 years later, is that I regret it.  I really regret it.  When I was younger, I looked at the abortion like no big thing.  At the time, I figured it was the best decision I made for myself and everyone involved.  I did peer counciling for other girls and told them that the pain would get better – because they had might the right decision.  They were barely children, how could they raise children?  How could I?

But it sneaks up on you.  It sneaks up on you when you’re 27 in bed thinking that 10 years and a week ago you made the decision to end what could have been your child’s life.  The regret creeps in and you start thinking about how your life could have been different – how it could have been better or worse.  You start to see kids that are roughly the age your child would be and you see yourself in them and wonder how you could have been so stupid.  You see, the truth is – it was stupid of me to get pregnant at such a young age, but it was even more stupid for me to terminate that pregnancy.

I was strong enough then to do it – I just didn’t know it and was influenced by the people around me at the time.  Truth be told, I would have risen to the occasion and I would have been a damn good mother.

And that’s not to say that all people are like me.  I’m sure there are people out there who don’t regret the decision the made.  I’m just saying, for most people, it’s not as easy as it seems.  It’s all hard, and every decision you make if you get pregnant when you’re that age – whether it’s adoption, abortion, or actually having the child is going to change your life forever.

I am getting really pissed off with this election.  If you remember, I called it way back in October of last year that Mitt Romney would be the republican nominee – and I also called it that Mitt Romney would win the national election as well.   I’m not taking that away, I still stand my assertion that Obama is doing a horrible job of motivating the democrats to the polls, while his recent announcements in support of gay marriage have done nothing to further his support within his base (those people were already supporting him) and given Romney a boost with the religious whack-job right (who actually might now have supported Romney).

What I’m pissed off about this election is the bullshit that these campaigns are throwing at each other.

Apparently Romney scalped a kid when he was in high school if the internet is to be believed.

Apparently Obama did multiple lines of blow and enjoyed it while in college.

Apparently Romney was part of a rich, entitled group that harassed other kids who didn’t belong.

Apparently Obama told a women their relationship would go nowhere because she wasn’t black.

WHO THE FUCK CARES?!

Why aren’t we talking about policies?  Why aren’t we talking about the things they did in office.  Why does any of this matter?!

Okay, so Romney apparently cut some kids hair because he didn’t conform with the school policy which required guys to have short hair and this kid was apparently traumatized.  (Not traumatized enough to report it to school officials though.)  The other people involved are saying that Romney was the ring leader – but it’s not like they don’t have a vested interest to protect their asses (especially the one that’s a teacher now).  But let’s back up and look at the act – and compare it to the fact that in the MILITARY TO THIS DAY, if you don’t have the proper hair cut for guys, it is damn near expected that someone else is going to come buzz cut your hair without your permission – so you better have that hair cut.

Obama apparently dabbled in cocaine college.  Go ahead, I dare you to raise your hand and say that you never did one illegal thing while you were in college – you never drank underage, you never did anything that someone could try to hurt you with if you ran for president.  No one, okay.  So why do we care about something that Obama did in college, before the Miami drug scene and before cocaine was really the OMG worst drug ever?  We shouldn’t.

We should be talking about the issues people – not these stupid, stupid things that people did in their youth.  When each one of you can run for president and come forward and say, “I made no mistakes when I was a teenager” is when I’ll accept that these should be issues.   Until then – we should be talking about the things that matter…

Like the 79 examples of Barack Obama’s corruption, lying, lawbreaking, and cronyism.

First off, I’m sick.  I’m running a fever and my eyes are watery and I’m coughing and it’s just gross.  I blame my friends who I babysat for on Saturday night.  Their children are just walking infestations of all sorts of illnesses that we adults have no immune system for since we don’t go to school anymore, or have any kids.  I dislike this, greatly.

Also, the house that Katina and I are supposed to move into, we’re supposed to get the keys tomorrow, but the lady has gone radio silent on us so now I don’t know if we’re actually getting the keys.  Kind of annoying…

But all of that doesn’t matter, because I am super psyched about one thing that is going on in my life, and that is my budding career as a DJ.  Yes – you heard that right, apparently I have a budding career as a DJ.  Let me tell you how this all started… a month or so ago, I did a Saturday during the game at Jimmy’s – and then I did a Sunday night, and of course, I posted this all to facebook.  Well, life is all about who you know, not what you know, and apparently I know a bunch of people who have DJ companies.

They of course, hit me up, and now I’ve got a couple gigs booked at various places in the DC area over the next month or two – which is pretty much awesome.  I find it super humorous that I got a bunch of DJ gigs without really having any real experience just based on my name alone.  (And the fact that they know I learned from [redacted] who has a ton of experience.)

Which, is also a super humorous part of this.  One of the things I always told [redacted] was that he should make more for what he does as a DJ than he actually does.  The couple gigs I already have lined up, I am going to make significantly more than he currently does, which cracks me up.  It almost proves that I’m always right.  (I wonder what I would be making if I had his experience?)

Anyways, I’m super psyched about that – and I’m ordering chinese take out as soon as the place opens for my fever.  Life is good.

So, true story time – I’m learning to use After Effects for Mary, April’s and my new project and I figured one of the most awesome ways to learn it was to make a video for my mother for mothers day.  Unfortunately, one of the things that I need to learn to do while using After Effects is to save my project as I’m working – because if I don’t – and windows update go off over night, Adobe isn’t like Microsoft Word – it doesn’t automatically save for you.  (Which is pretty tragic.)

So – I lost the video I was making for my mom for mothers day.  (Yeah, I’m pretty upset too.)  So instead, all she gets in this post with a couple pictures, reminding her of the good old days of changing diapers and my brother and I being super cute.

And a sincere wish that you enjoy your retirement with Dad.  If there’s any mom who deserves it, it’s you – because seriously, John and I put you through more bullshit than most other kids we know.

But we love you for being able to handle it – and still loving us anyway.
