Blood pressure occurs due to our heartbeat that makes the blood circulate in blood vessels. Our heart acts as a pump making the blood flow under pressure. Circulating through arteries, blood takes oxygen and nutrients to our organs and tissues. It is evident that blood pressure is among our vital functions. Blood pressure has maximum and minimum levels and varies depending on person. At present, much attention is paid to making people understand the importance of keeping their blood pressure under control as its abnormal levels are often associated with numerous health problems including kidney and heart disorders.

Blood pressure readings are offered as two numbers, for example 120/80. The first of them is the systolic pressure (maximum), the second refers to diastolic readings with relaxed cardiac, or heart muscle (minimum). When analyzing the state of the patient, the physician always takes into consideration both figures. In case of elevated systolic pressure as with 150/90 readings high blood pressure or hypertension may be diagnosed.

It is worth noting that blood pressure varies depending on the time of the day (morning, night, afternoon), the person’s age, or physical activities. During exercising your blood pressure reading may be rather high. Stresses and strong feelings are also connected with elevated blood pressure. Nevertheless, these states are considered to be a norm while constantly high blood pressure is a serious reason for medical consultations.

Obese people are strongly recommended to lose weight as overweight is directly connected with hypertension and other severe problems. Another group of risk includes people taking much salt with their daily food. To control your blood pressure and to assess potential health problems, measure the readings regularly with the help of sphygmomanometer. The device consists of a hand pump and an arm sleeve. Blood pressure is detected by a stethoscope or a digital instrument. When putting the readings down, first goes the systolic pressure, the second number is related to the diastolic pressure.

Any doubts about potential problems with high blood pressure should be discussed with your physician. For people with diagnosed hypertension healthy and positive lifestyle is crucial, including physical activities, weight control and proper diet.

High blood pressure is traditionally associated with possible heart attacks and / or strokes together with some other serious health problems, including elevated cholesterol level and diabetes. Any of the conditions mentioned above may result either in untimely death or in numerous limitations to your lifestyle. The only way to avoid undesirable and dangerous consequences is to take the situation under proper control.

Often patients with diagnosed hypertension are prescribed certain treatment courses. It may be a single tablet to be taken daily or several drugs at once for lowering both high blood pressure and the level of cholesterol. When interacting with other medications that a person may find himself or herself in the need of, they are likely to cause various side effects. Among most well-known are loss of energy, cough, sexual disorders.

It should be noticed that even everyday medications do not guarantee normal level of blood pressure. That is why the task is set to optimize control of condition in people who live with elevated blood pressure. A research conducted not long ago analyzed the output from additional consultations of healthcare professionals.

A group of three thousand patients from the US aged from 25 to 75 was monitored by physicians with the help of Web applications and secured Web interface. The only problem of these people was lack of hypertension control. The group members were divided into three sub-groups: with standard monitoring procedures, with home control of blood pressure level and Web training, with home control, Web training and healthcare professional consultations online.

The results of the first two groups were mainly equal. No noticable changes in their condition and blood pressure level occured. With people who got consultations on a regular basis the situation differed completely. Nearly half of them were able to get their blood pressure back to the norm, while before the research their readings were constantly too high.

Seems like new technologies are able to improve the situation with the so called “silent killer”. Let us hope that we shall see more of such initiatives in the nearest future.

Lowering the blood pressure and relaxing muscles, Revatio (sildenafil citrate) affects the general state of health positively. Under Viagra brand it is taken by more than 24 million men from all over the world and so is widely used for treating erectile dysfunction due to its ability to stimulate the blood flow to the certain areas of the body.
Revatio is used also in patients with diagnosed pulmonary hypertension. It is prescribed in situations when traditional methods are unable to get blood pressure in vessels connecting the heart and lungs back to the norm. Revatio works by affecting chemicals in the blood and thus regulating the blood flow. When their level in the blood increases, the blood vessels become relaxed and widened. As a result, more oxygen and blood get into the lungs.
Revatio can be recommended by healthcare professionals for other purposes not mentioned here.

Dosage and Taking

Revatio is offered in small white round tablets (20 mg). A tablet is to be taken three times a day (possibly, during eating) with an interval of 6–8 hours. As the medicine taken orally and not intravenously, it does not affect liver negatively.

Storage

Room temperature is recommended for storing the medicine. Keep Revatio away from children.

Safety information

Revatio cannot be combined with drugs containing Sodium nitrites. Revation is not recommended for patients taking certain courses of HIV treatment. Together with Nitroglycerinum it may lead to breast pains.

Among the most common side effects are nausea, muscular pains in arms and legs, diarrhea, cough. Revatio has demonstrated good results during clinical tests involving 277 patients from 25 countries.

Instead of pala kova condensed milk may be taken but do not forget to put less sugar into your carrot drink. If you have an opportunity to cook it with pala kova, do try as it is surely worth it.

Soak 6 cashewnuts and 4 almonds without rind in a small amount of milk for 15 minutes, and then grind them into paste. Take two large carrots boiled and smashed into puree after cooling. It will be enough for 6 glasses of our Indian drink. Add to a liter and one cup of milk a clove and half of a cinnamon stick, heat the liquid until it boils. Make the heat minimal and keep the milk boiling for about 15 minutes while stirring it constantly. Put in four tablespoons of sugar (or less if you do not have pala kova) and continue to stir until it dissolves completely.

Keeping the milk heated, add smashed carrots to it, then mix two substances together and cook for 3–4 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons of pala kova (3 tablespoons of condensed milk) and half of tablespoon of powdered elaichi. Mix everything well and after two more minutes stop boiling the milk. Remove the cinnamon stick and the clove that are no longer necessary, and wait until the milk cools completely.

If you wish, add few strands saffron to give the milk a peculiar sweet aroma and taste along with nice yellow color. Blend the mixture into a smooth, homogeneous drink. It suits summer parties perfectly when chilled and decorated with toasted almonds or pistachios. When warm, it will be a good variant for unexpected guests. Cooking process together with chilling takes 30–40 minutes, but you would better make the carrot milk beforehand as it does taste better after a day or two.

In such cases much depends on the condition of the woman. Diagnosed hypertension is one thing, while suspicion of slightly elevated blood pressure is quite another piece of problem. Anyway, your first step is to start taking care of your blood pressure, no matter if you plan to have a baby or not.

Seek for a competent advice of a healthcare professional. It should be noted that certain recommendations are very easy and suitable for nearly everyone. The most obvious moments are restriction of salt intake, sufficient physical activities, and getting your weight to a recommended norm.
Given that natural measures are unable to get blood pressure under control your physician may turn to medicines. As a rule, patients begin with taking diuretics. After studying their effect, beta blockers can be recommended.

As you can see, analyzing any case with hypertension and pregnancy requires detailed information about your current state and measures used to keep your blood pressure under control. If exercising and healthy food is enough to bring it back to norm, it is likely to be enough during pregnancy, too. It is obvious that as less medications as possible should be taken by an expectant woman. Your infertility doctor will monitor things to make sure that you and your baby are perfectly safe.

Start with a full examination to get a complete picture and to be sure that the problems do exist. It is true that women with hypertension are subject to certain risks associated with kidney problems, pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes. Moreover, there does exist a possibility of developing severe problems later (related to heart, kidneys, diabetes).

The higher blood pressure is, the more stressed is placenta. In certain cases problems may occur with oxygen and nutrients supply resulting in developmental issues, preterm birth, lower birth weight. Sometimes hypertension may stimulate premature detachment of placenta: placenta is separated from the uterine wall too early for natural parturition. Bleeding which is characteristic for placenta detachment is harmful both for the mother and the child. In women with hypertension chances for bleeding immediately after the childbirth are also high.

You should not be scared with all the possible consequences listed here as they are given only for you to get a full picture and to take the situation under proper control. It is all up to you to try and become a healthy mother for a healthy baby and to take delight in your motherhood. Hope that you see now that before you get pregnant it is highly advisable to get your blood pressure to a normal level. Of course, you are sure to be monitored carefully while awaiting a baby but why get thing more complicated than they could be?

Go ahead and discuss with your healthcare professional your history of hypertension. Remember that possible problems and complications are directly related to your state, the ways you choose to control it, the desire to be healthy. A good, healthy food and physical activities are available and desirable for anyone, regardless of his or her condition and plans. Having enlisted your doctor’s support, go ahead and make a good plan suiting all your needs.

Hypertension is often associated with additional risk factors for your health. It is able to provoke cardiovascular problems, up to heart attacks and strokes. High blood pressure is thought to be directly related to kidney problems, although they may become apparent only after a long while. Elevated blood pressure means additional load on your heart and potential damage to your blood vessels. Moreover, the higher blood pressure is, the graver the consequences may be.

In 90–95 percent of patients it is impossible to find out the exact cause of elevated blood pressure. Healthcare professionals refer to such a state as primary (or essential) hypertension. 75 million of people in America only have got diagnosed primary hypertension.

Although it is the most common problem with blood pressure, primary hypertension still requires additional research. By now, scientists think that essential hypertension is caused by a whole bunch of various factors including environmental and hereditary issues. If earlier high blood pressure was untypical for children and adolescents, now it is diagnosed even in young patients. The causes of it are usually unknown.

At least several of the reasons for growing blood pressure are already known. For now they include artery wall thickening (hypertrophy), hardened arteries (arteriosclerosis), contracted arterioles (small arteries). Good news is that effective treatment methods are also available, both natural and medical.

Affected by nerve impulses, arteries are widening (dilate) or narrowing (contract). Blood flows easily when they become larger, opening wide. The narrower blood vessels are, the higher the pressure inside them becomes. Such a state often results in elevated blood pressure. As we already know, this means additional strain on your heart and potential damage to your blood vessels. Damaged arteries fail to supply blood to kidneys and brain effectively.

When it is clear what the cause of high blood pressure is, we deal with the so called secondary hypertension. It can be brought on by hormonal disorders, kidney problems, aberrations of our main artery (or the aorta). Certain secondary arteries can also become the reason for secondary hypertension if they are constantly narrowed.

High blood pressure can occur from time to time only. Though temporary, frequent cases of elevated blood pressure are as dangerous for your heart, kidneys and arteries, as chronic hypertension is. Doctors also point out that constant stresses more often than not go hand in hand with harmful habits, including alcohol, cigarettes and unhealthy food. These factors additionally contribute to the risk of hypertension.

Consumption of salt is considered one of the most important risk factors for developing elevated blood pressure. People who take more than 5.8 g of salt each day are associated with high risk groups. With that in mind, it is obvious how much depends on our food habits and our lifestyle.

To complicate things further, symptoms of high blood pressure are usually vague and mild. As a rule, they are too non-specific to be associated with any concrete problem. They can include sickness, light-headedness, or commonplace headache.

Question

I am planning to become pregnant but I am not sure what to do with my elevated blood pressure. Due to constant stresses and nervousness it is always about 150-160 over 90. Is it possible to continue treatment if a woman is going to have a baby? Are there safe blood pressure drugs?

Answer

I’m sure that no doctor will recommend you to stop taking your blood pressure medicines as it is unsafe. He will sure to choose something that suits you as taking such medicines is ok for pregnant. Do not forget that 140/90 is a critical limit. In fact, sometimes blood pressure goes back to norm during pregnancy so you and your baby will be even safer.
The problem is high blood pressure can become an obstacle for pregnancy. So you’d better try and add other measures to get it under control. There are numerous natural and easy methods for lowering blood pressure that you could try. Add as more fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet as you can. Fish and whole grains are able to do wonders, too. My mom had been having similar problems with blood pressure and cholesterol. As soon as she changed her lifestyle she was perfectly well without and drugs. She added vitamins and exercising to her diet, too. I was so impressed that now I am going to a gym three times a week.

Over and over again, healthcare professionals and physicians underline a rapidly increasing quantity of patients with diagnosed hypertension. Most of us tend to take high blood pressure as a commonplace problem that could be easily overcome. It should be noted though that our blood pressure level does mean a lot for our health in general and the way we feel ourselves.

In case of blood level problems you cannot be sure that you are perfectly all right as unexpected issues can come out any moment. Consequently, one is highly recommended to be blood level cautious and do his or her best to prevent elevated blood pressure to happen.

Not so long ago hypertension was treated as a problem that becomes apparent with age but now it is not so. Even children and young people go into this risk group. It is not uncommon to see a person of 20 talking about lowered or elevated blood pressure. The good news is that there are simple and effective measures to prevent the problem from happening. Instead of chemicals and medicines a range of natural methods is proposed to everyone who takes care about blood pressure.

Ayurveda methods are quite effective for managing blood pressure issues. Do not forget to get a proper dose of Vitamin C regularly. Vitamin C is one of key elements for our health and beauty. It turns out that it is favorable for blood pressure level, too. Vitamin C is traditionally associated with watermelons, tomatoes, guavas and lemons. Bt the way, Indian gooseberry, called amla in Hindi, contains 30 times more Vitmain C than a good old orange. One of the best anti-oxidants for our body, it is said to work miracles.
If you are at a loss where to get amla, do not give way to despair and try garlic instead. This vegetable offers an effective way to manage cholesterol level in our blood. In case you know how to handle it properly, be sure to include garlic in your diet. It will become your remedy and a nice addition to your food with a great effect for health.
