Many people do not know really where to start when it comes to getting your foot in the door in the world of bartending. That is why there are so many bartending schools that are available all over the United States which are aimed towards helping you become a bartender. One thing that you have to realize and take into consideration is that just because you graduate from a bartending school does not mean that you are automatically going to be able to get a job as a bartender, but you know what, it is certainly not going to hurt to have that on your resume either.

Now what exactly do bartending schools have to offer? Well that all really depends on what state you are in and what the curriculum for the class is that you are going to be taking. But you have to be sure that there is going to be plenty of mixology in the process, specifically all of the most popular drinks that are constantly ordered at bars. See depending on where you work, the business will vary, but the best bartender will not have to spend that extra 5 seconds or so looking at that cheat sheet when some one orders a drink, they will know how to mix that drink right away.

Now I am not going to discourage using cheat sheets, as many bartenders that are just starting off will need them, and it is better to make the drink right in a timely manner than try to rush the drink and get it wrong. I for one would rather wait a couple of extra seconds up to a minute to ensure that my drink is mixed properly with the right ingredients than have it rushed and made wrong. This is the key to becoming a successful bartender. An efficient and knowledgeable bartender will be able to keep customers happy knowing that they are going to get what they ask for.

But there is another side to bartending besides knowing how to mix all of the drinks that are out there available. The part of bartending is knowing how to deal with the customers. Now this is the trickiest part, as you are their main supplier of alcohol, and you must also take responsibility when serving drinks. If someone comes the bar and is completely hammered, you are the one that is going to have to draw the line and cut them off, call a cab for them also.

But then again not everyone that you are going to be serving are going to be belligerent drunks, but you are going to get to socialize with them every night especially if you are in a popular bar that has a lot of customers. So you are going to have some excellent social skills, and if you do not have that, you will have to have some good looks, I do not mean to be an ass but that is what is needed to become a successful bartender. Those that can achieve both of these attributes will be making a lot of money.
