Hi Paul – This application will not post comments that are written by your fans or status updates that fans post on your wall. It will only post activity that YOU originate on your Fan Page. I have successfully used this application to post my status updates, events and notes (does not work for a blog imported into your notes section) to my Twitter account but have not tried it with photos. I also noticed that it does not work if you are using something like Hootsuite to post messages to your Fan Page. I hope this helps! – Kimberly

Until Hootsuite can post, and schedule posts, to Facebook Pages as links, photos, etc. (versus just simple status updates), I won’t switch from CoTweet. I find posting links and photos — versus status updates — generate more engagement with my fans, because the thumbnail is so visual. Status updates alone aren’t that critical. Now, if Hootsuite could post links and schedule those links, awesome.

I already schedule my Facebook Page statuses via CoTweet’s scheduling feature and the Selective Twitter status app for Facebook. Even the regular Twitter app for Facebook does the job with CoTweet. Yet, CoTweet uses bitly instead of those annoying owly links, and CoTweet allows us to assign Replies and DMs to particular users/editors to respond to.

I set this up for my Facebook FAN Pages, but only get WALL postings by ME posted to my twitter acc, I have all the items ticked photos, notes, links, events, but dont get these updates POSTED to twitter, only the WALL posts, and only wall posts I enter.

Hi Dave,

I pulled out text from the Facebook promotional guidelines to answer this….see below.

Administering a promotion on Facebook means operating any element of the promotion on Facebook or using any part of the Facebook Platform. This may include, for example, collecting submissions or entries, conducting the drawing, judging winning entries, or notifying winners.

You may not administer any promotion through Facebook, except that you may administer a promotion through the Facebook Platform with our prior written approval. Such written approval may be obtained only through an account representative at Facebook. If you are already working with an account representative, please contact that representative to begin the approval process. If you do not work with an account representative, you can use this contact form to inquire about working with an account representative.

What you described is against Facebook’s promotional guidelines unless you have their written approval. And the assumption is to get their approval you need a healthy promo budget. You’ll notice if you click their “contact form” link, the starting budget that you can select is <$10,000.

So what do you think about this situtation:

One company post a wall post on thier page to send their fans to another partner fan page to enter a photo contest. Fans then post a photo…photo with most “likes” by fans and friends wins. Is this ok?

I’m noticing the same thing. Tagged fan page posts don’t show up on the corresponding fan page any longer.

Hi Kim

I have the exact same problem !!!! Your right!! …. the tag does NOT appear on the fan page, not even in the Just Fans. This sucks BIG time. let me know if you found the solution to this, maybe its just a setting?

Debra – I just noticed in my home page news feed that someone had tagged my fan page. It was not posted on my fan page wall. It didn’t work for me when I tagged a fan page from my own page. And I followed a tag from a random fan page and that tag didn’t show up on the tagged fan page either. No, we aren’t crazy. Fan pages used to see who had tagged them on the fan page wall. I don’t know if this is a permanent Facebook change or just a fluke.

Hi Debra – I don’t know of any settings that control tagging unless there is something relatively new. But there is a setting that controls whether or not a fan can post on a fan page wall.

Does the fan page that you tagged, have their wall posts & posts by fans all integrated onto the same wall? Some fan pages don’t and if they don’t, the posts by fans show up in a separate place. Look above the wall posts…just before the Wall/Info/Photos tabs. Do you see a link with the fan page name and another that says “Just Fans”? If so, click “Just Fans” and see if your tag is visible. Let me know the outcome. – Kimberly

I have tried to tag a client’s fan page in a status I posted to my company’s fan page, and it works in my status, but does not show up on their wall. Are there privacy settings they may have selected that keep tags from showing up on their wall? (And yes, I am already a fan of their page.)
