Just to clarify the clarification, when capital assets are aquired - like an outdoor gym or umbrellas.. costs are incurred in the original purchase then maintenance and expenses associated with the upkeep.

While the outdoor gym may have been "Free" the maintenance, staff time and liability insurance are not free so there are tax dollars involved.

You can get a phone number from Rogers, Bell or Telus as well.  Citywest only has a monopoly on the local Rupert numbers because they are exempt from the CRTC rulings on number portability.  No matter, Port Edward numbers work just fine in Rupert.

Actually Mig, Rogers requested number portability in April of this year and in July Citywest requested a 90 day extension from the CRTC to comply with the  CRTC's ruling on number portability. Telecom Decision CRTC 2008-122 (Decision 2008-122)." How long Citywest can delay this is open to debate but it seems they will need to provide number portability at some point.

In short once CityWest has to provide number portability, the defection to Rogers Cell Services will no doubt accelerate and further cripple this city owned company.
