Don’t you ever think that it’s a common phenomenon for us to see women getting raped? Common because we all participate in this. Few rapes them at the so called scene of crime and many rape them afterwards either by questioning them how it happened or by lawyers for explaining the whole event in front of the court or by politicians making mockery about the rapes. I hope everyone remembers the Lawyer Chadda of Damini movie and that scene where the protagonist, Damini, fighting for a raped & murdered girl lost her patience and spoke her mind in the open court [Reminder link: http://youtu.be/BlFfVYedCqY?t=1m43s].

But have we ever thought who is responsible for all this happenings of this world and how it can be now cured?

Poverty of india is responsibily for everything ?

I don’t think poverty subjugates our moral values (if we have). Have we forgotten most recent Shiney Ahuja case?

Just few days, I was talking to my tech-lead who had spent almost 20 years in U.S. He was talking about his experiences when they used to go out for CSR (Corporate Socio responsibility program) to a State owned Refugee camp. He talked about this boy who nearly 10 years old, his father was in jail for some crime and mother was living with her boy-friend and this kid used to stay with two half-brothers. He told me few experiences which made me think about moral strength of that kid:

a) So in these state owned refugee camps, government provides food, shelter, education and some vocational job so that they can earn their livings. This kid was really bright in learning and interacting with folks. Once while distributing muffins, he found that his mother had hid her muffin and was again in the queue for another muffin. He went to the supervisor and complained against her. There was no wrong feeling in him about his mother, he used to live happily with his half-brothers, but when his mother did something unethical, he felt bad.

b) So in America also, kids sharp pencils from both sides (I hope every one of us have done that). The rich kids (average middle class also) throw those pencils when both ends meet. This kid used to gather those small pieces and used them for his homework. My lead once bought some pencils but he just thought of testing him. He kept one pencil by his side and while he was helping on some mathematics questions, he said “this is the way to solve it, now take this pencil and finish the next question”. Kid gazed at him and replied “this is not my pencil, I have five pencils” and he took five small left out pencils from his pockets. He could have taken it but in fact after my lead told him that he had brought it for him, this kid didn’t took it.

My point was Morality doesn’t grow with the growing bank balance. Do you think above depiction of moral values can be seen in we, Indians. I doubt that now.

Poor Education of india is responsible for everything ?

As per the data provided by the National Crime Records Bureau, Madhya Pradesh tops in rape cases(reported as many as 2,937 cases), Nagaland ranks lowest(reported as many as 19 cases) (Source). And if we see the Census of 2012, Nagaland with a population of 1,980,602 has a literacy rate of 80% where Madhya Pradesh has a population of 72,597,565 with 71% literacy rate. So looking at this data, can I safely assume that 9% of less literacy in Madhya Pradesh is responsible for nearly 100 times more rapes in it? If this theory is correct then how come Kerala , being the most literate state, is at the top of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) figures for crimes [Source Kerala also ranks highest on incidents of rioting and arson with a rate of 26 compared to the national average of 6.4, although Bihar at 8,809 incidents accounts for almost 13% of all riots in the country. To put these figures in perspective, NCRB has also compiled separate statistics for violent crimes that include murder, attempt to murder, rape, kidnapping and dowry death]

Politic situation of India for everything?

Lot of people can argue on this stating the rusted police department and corruption in india is responsible for every wrong thing in our country. But frankly telling these have very less role to be played here. Our minds are corrupted because nearly in 20% of the reported rape cases, it has been found that family members were indulged in those inhumane acts. How can honesty of police officer or political figures comes in picture when family, which is in fact considered as the most secure place is involved in such cases.

Is it our true Nature?

Do you think "Ladies first" has just become a nice simple way of saying "Let me look at that ass while you walk in front of me". Sorry but that’s the way we are. Don’t you think eve-teasing is more common than common cold in India? The moment we see a girl in skinny jeans or half naked legs, our eyes will be wide open. In fact, I have seen girls looking girls from tip to toe in such a bad manner (I agree the feelings vary between jealousness and sexual urges). Problem (in my opinion) lies in our mentality. So far, we have seen Indian women as a house wife (I am talking mostly till my mother’s era). Now that women have grown up in their intellect and tried to raise their strata in society, then how come man let this happen? He has expected women always to take his orders and now she being an equal or rising high suits us. In fact, if you see women who raise their level either by power or emotions, they start fighting for something called “varchasav ki ladai”. I mean in a family if a woman is head, then she will control all other ladies and will not like any other lady to grow up on the ladder. Same is true in most of the organizations. They feel insecure in the company of women. In most of the cases of female infanticide, elder women are involved in killing/provoking these crimes. Same are for dowry. Yes, for rapes women have no part. But they do justify it by saying “what was she doing at that time with her boyfriend or her dress must have provoked this or she must be drunk and instigated this”.

Looking at the today’s condition, it reminded of an old song written by Kavi Pradeep, so apt for current situation:

sab ko lut jaane kaa dar hai, - everyone is afraid of being looted

What can be done now?

First of all, stop thinking of those brutal pictures you all have seen on social networking sites about castration or public hanging of rapists in some countries. Let’s be sensible and pragmatic in our approach. There is no provision of such uncivilized acts in civilized courts.

Let’s look in our rule book for it, I mean what provisions Indian penal court has for it :

"The law of rape is not just a few sentences. It is a whole book, which has clearly demarcated chapters and cannot be read selectively. We cannot read the preamble and suddenly reach the last chapter and claim to have understood and applied it." - Kiran Bedi.

As rightly said by Kiran Bedi and I am also not a law student who can give all sections , so please consider it max effort of my knowledge.

a) There is no section like Attempt to rape (can be added in Section 511 in The Indian Penal Code, 1860 but it’s a very generic one ), so we don’t believe in attempt, we want job to be finished only then we agree . We have seen some bad examples when victims have been raped by police officers and court released them saying it were consensual sex (notorious Mathura rape case).

b) It was only after a woman employee who was subjected to sexual abuse by her superior officer, a NGO (Vishaka) in 1997 filed a petition to draw the attention of the Court about sexual harassment cases. This Writ Petition brought the enforcement of the fundamental rights of working women under Articles 14, 19 and 21 of the Constitution of India in view of the prevailing climate in which the violation of these rights is not uncommon.

2. Physical contact and advances

3. Showing pornography

4. A demand or request for sexual favors

5. Any other unwelcome physical, verbal/non-verbal conduct being sexual in nature.

c) Section 509 in The Indian Penal Code, 1860 : Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman :Whoever, intending to insult the modesty of any woman, utters any word, makes any sound or gesture, or exhibits any object, intending that such word or sound shall be heard, or that such gesture or object shall be seen, by such woman, or intrudes upon the privacy of such woman, shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both.

This came to public news when Rupan Bajaj was slapped on the posterior by the then Chief of Police, Punjab- Mr. K P S.Gill at a dinner party in July 1988.

d) The offence of ‘rape’ is covered under Section 375 of the IPC. Per the Explanation to the said section, penile penetration alone will ‘constitute the sexual intercourse necessary to the offence of rape’. Hence, offences like fellatio or cunnilingus (i.e. oral sex) and penetration by any other object or part of the body (like finger or toe), fall beyond the realm of Section 375. Consequently, sexual abuse of a minor in the form of unlawful sexual contact or by exhibiting pornographic material is outside the ambit of Section 375.

e) Under the present scheme of the IPC, the penetrative abuse of a child below the age of 12 is classified either as unnatural offence under Section 377 or as outraging the modesty of a woman under Section 354; depending upon the ‘type’ of penetration. The said jurisprudence is based on a faulty premise, for the following reasons:-

Firstly, a vulnerable child cannot discern the degree of difference in terms of which her orifice is penetrated. So determining if the offence falls under Section 377 or Section 354 is practically impossible.

Moreover, the physical and psychological impact of the sexual offence on the child should be the basis for making out an offence under the IPC, rather than scrutinizing the ‘type’ of penetration.

And finally, is it not wrong to treat non- consensual penetration upon a minor as offence under Section 377 on par with certain forms of consensual penetration (e.g. consensual homosexual sex) where a consenting party can be held liable as an abettor or otherwise?

f) Section 376 in The Indian Penal Code, 1860 - Punishment for rape: This is something which is possible in current situation and this is the one which has been amended in past 30 years with addition of various new acts (result of few bad rape cases). In this section, in worst case the culprit can have 10 years of imprisonment.

In the Delhi case , they can add the section 302 and attempted to murder and either the culprits can be punished for life time imprisonment ( which tax payers like me don’t want) or they will be hang till death ( which of course are more appropriate)

I am not saying that we should not protest against it. It is the protests only which can make Supreme Court intervene and amend the old rotten system and can create special and strict punishment for such heinous crimes.

Current situation of our nation seems to me like the famous historical episode of The Rape of the Sabine Women.

Same are my longings from Indian courts making strict laws and quick action policies for such horrendous crimes.

In the Mathura Rape case [(1978) CrLJ 1864 SC] the Supreme Court acquitted the two policemen who raped a sixteen year old girl on the grounds that the victim had no visible marks of injury and that she did not raise an alarm.

In Mohd. Habib v. State [(1989) CrLJ 137 Delhi] the Delhi High Court acquitted a man who raped a seven year old girl, asserting that there were no marks of injury on his penis. The Court refused to take cognizance of the bite marks on the victim’s person and the fact that she suffered a ruptured hymen on account of the sexual assault.

In Vishaka & Ors vs State Of Rajasthan & Ors , where, on behalf of a woman employee who was subjected to sexual abuse by her superior officer, a NGO (Vishaka) filed a petition to draw the attention of the Court, as to the atrocities committed on the women folk in workplaces. This case was a landmark decision towards the self empowerment of women. For the first time, Courts have decided based on an international instrument, when there was no law specifically in force in India, for matters relating to sexual harassment. The move was based on India's ratification of the international instrument, CONVENTION ON THE ELIMINATION OF ALL FORMS OF DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WOMEN (CEDAW).

In State Of Maharashtra And Another vs Madhukar Narayan Mardikar, the respondent, Madhukar Narayan Mardikar, was serving as a Police Inspector, Bhiwandi Town Police Station in District Thana of Maharashtra State in November 1965. On 13th November, 1965, between 8.15 and 8.45 p.m. he allegedly visited the hutment of one Banubi w/o Babu Sheikh in uniform and demanded to have sexual intercourse with her. On her refusing he tried to have her by force. She resisted his attempt and raised hue and cry. Her husband and neighbours collected outside the hutment. The hutment was about a furlong away from the Police Station and about 100 yards from Kuwari's Bungalow. After people from the vicinity collected at the place of occurrence the respondent rushed to Kuwari's Bungalow and telephoned the Police Station to rush police aid. PSI Ghosalkar who received the phone call rushed to the place of occurrence in a police jeep accompanied by PSI Wadekar and other policemen. On reaching the scene of occurrence they found the respondent in uniform standing at some distance from the hutment of Banubi. They also saw an agitated Banubi near her hutment. The respondent directed that the woman be taken to the Police Station as she had abused him. She was taken on foot to the Police Station by Head Constable Kulkarni and Police Constable Desale. The respondent and others returned to the Police Station in the jeep.

· N Radhabai vs. D. Ramchandran : Radhabai was the Secretary to D Ramchandran. D. Ramchandran was the then social minister for state. Radhabai protested against his boss’s abuse of girls in the welfare institutions. She claimed that Ramchandran attempted to molest her and later dismissed her from the job. The Supreme Court laid down its decision in favour of Radhabai, with back pay and perks from the date of dismissal.

Jesse Owens and Luz Long's Friendship

When I was a kid, it used to be my favorite Story so just keeping it for me always.

Jesse Owens, one of the greatest athletes of all time, participated in the controversial 1936 Nazi Olympics. His competitor was the superb German athlete, Luz Long. As excerpted from his biography, Jesse confronted this “enemy” but found, instead, a friend.

As the time neared to board the ship that would take me to Europe for the 1936 Olympics, I began to wonder if all the publicity I’d gotten might be crowding out the spiritual side of my life. One morning, sitting at the breakfast table with Ruth and the baby, I said to her, “I’d like for us to go to church before I leave on that boat.”

“I’m glad to hear you say that, Jesse,” she answered. “It’s been a long time since you said that.”

I thought out loud, “Can’t go this morning, got to meet Coach Snyder at ten, maybe next Sunday morning, but I’ve got that press conference and got to get in my practice sometime, we wouldn’t have to go in the morning, could go at night.”

But one busy morning became another, days fled like minutes till, before I knew it, I was kissing Ruth goodbye and getting ready to leave with the American Olympic Team for New York. “I’ll pray for you, Jesse,” she said.

“We never did make it to church, did we?” I said a little sadly and maybe a little scared. “Next time, baby.”

I didn’t think about it again, frankly, until the ship left New York. Then, as the last traces of land vanished I had an almost overwhelming impulse to drop down on my knees and thank God for letting this opportunity come to me—and to ask His help to make the most of it. But I didn’t.

Was it because my teammates were around? Or a bunch of strangers? Or was it because by now I was just too full of myself? I had been brought up with a belief in God and the teachings of Jesus—His Word—to have His Spirit...to believe, to know, that if we struggled to the utmost and climbed the highest mountains within ourselves, above the final summit he would be there. Why would God desert me now? I asked myself. Surely he wouldn’t leave me now.

I had married and fathered a child. I had run as fast and jumped as far as any man in the world. I had gone to a fine university and learned to read some of the most learned books in it. But I had not learned the great truth that God never leaves us. We leave him.

If I wasn’t up to getting down on my knees and praying on the ship, showing in public what I believed seemed to be even more out of the question once I’d left the ship and arrived in Berlin. It was a godless city. Oh, there must have been some who believed, who secretly didn’t go along with Hitler’s ideas that he and his atheistic master race were superior to the rest of the world—but most of them had to keep it secret.

For some, though, it was impossible to keep beliefs hidden. The Jewish people, for example, were known to have their own firm faith. Before another Olympiad would ever take place, millions of them would be put to death by the German dictator for that religion.

But during the 1936 Olympics, Hitler had a more immediate target: the United States Olympic team. First, a big part of Hitler’s superiority idea was that his Nazis should rule not just because they were better and smarter, but because they were stronger and healthier. Though Hitler himself was short, dark and anything but athletic-looking, he constantly talked of his tall, blond, blue-eyed Aryan supermen. Every newspaper was filled with his braggings of how the German Olympic team would prove him correct by vanquishing the inferior Americans.

When Hitler said “inferior Americans,” everyone knew what he meant. Our track and field squad happened to be made up mostly of Negro stars. My buddy, Dave Albritton, was there. So was Ralph Metcalfe. And others. And all of us came from pretty much the same background—Southern poor, physical laboring, God-fearing. We were everything Hitler hated.

Other people—the Jews, Poles, gypsies—that Hitler wanted to crush; at least they didn’t have their beliefs written on their very skins. But we did. And, in particular, Hitler hated my skin. For I happened to be the one who had set world records in the 100- and 200-yard dashes less than a year before and had been dubbed “the world’s fastest human” because of it.

Even more, I had broken the world broad-jump record by more than half a foot. Long before I was ever in the headlines, Hitler’s critics outside of Germany—none were left inside—had challenged him to point to one person who was the super strong, super smart, super-everything Aryan superman.

Now newspapermen from all over the world were asking him, “Who have you got to beat Jesse Owens?”

Hitler answered with a name: Luz Long.

I’d heard of Long, of course. The Germans didn’t let the rest of the world know exactly what their athletes were doing, so I had no idea how good he was. But there was no doubt that he was good. I wondered what he looked like. And … could he be the superman that Hitler claimed? One thing I did know: Luz Long had trained his entire life for this Olympiad, and for only a single event in it: the broad jump.

When I first set foot in Berlin’s huge stadium on a muggy August day, I felt a strange, ominous chill run through me as my eyes scanned the athletes from other countries and then stopped cold on one who was wearing the German uniform. I knew it was Luz Long. And he was indeed a supreme example of Aryan perfection. Taller than I was by an inch, maybe two, the blue-eyed, sandy-haired, Long was one of those rare athletic phenomenon—a perfectly proportioned body, every lithe, pulsing muscle stunningly compressed and honed by tens of thousands of hours of sweat and determination. He might have been my archenemy, but I had to stand there in awe and just stare at Luz Long.

Yet when he walked over to the broad-jump area to take a practice leap I knew, though it was the last thing I wanted to admit to myself, that he had the competitive spirit to match his body. Long didn’t jump. He exploded. With such intensity, yet such ease.

Long landed, laughing. One of the jumpers from another country came up to me. “You’re lucky this is practice,” he said matter-of-factly. “If they were measuring what Long did, it might be a new record.”

Soon, too soon, they were measuring. And … for the first time in years … I was falling short. The broad-jump trials gave each athlete three tries to make a qualifying distance of twenty- four feet, six inches. I hadn’t gone less than a foot farther than that, practice or otherwise, for two years. And my first jump went much more than a foot farther. But I fouled. In my eagerness to show Luz Long what I had, I’d been careless about measuring my steps to the takeoff board. I’d gone over it.

Forget it, I said to myself. You’ve fouled before. There are still two jumps left. I told myself that, but I didn’t believe it. Second by second, home seemed farther away. I was in Berlin, in the Olympics … but it wasn’t my turf. It was Luz Long’s turf. He belonged here. I belonged back in Cleveland.

Stop thinking those thoughts! I screamed silently to myself. And as I jumped when my name was finally called after all the waiting, I didn’t try to break any records or outdo Luz Long. I just tried to qualify to get into the finals, and have three jumps again. And I fell short by three inches. I was almost in a state of shock. I had jumped less than twenty-five feet. I hadn’t done that since, since … high school.

I put on my sweatshirt and tried to get off by myself. The reporters were buzzing around me like locusts. The press had always been good to me, and I tried to be as good as I could in return, but now all my nerves were like open wounds with each question cutting deeper and deeper. Finally, all were gone except one. He was an American writer I’d gotten to know.

“Jesse, off the record,” he said, “is it true about Hitler?”

“Is what true?”

“That he walked out of the stadium on you. Look.” The reporter pointed to Hitler’s plush box in the first row center. It was glaringly empty.

“I don’t know,” was all I could answer.

“That’s what I heard, anyway,” he said. “Hitler left before your first practice jump. Saw it myself. Then I asked a couple of German athletes, and they said that Hitler had made a vow not to look at you in action. Crazy?”

I nodded. But without much conviction. Was he crazy? I had just one jump left. And almost no time to get ready for it. The broad-jump preliminaries came before the finals of the other three events I was in—the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and the relay. How I did in the next ten minutes—with this one remaining chance—was, I knew, how I would do in the entire Olympics. And, somehow, I sensed, in life itself.

What if I, I stopped myself from thinking it time and again, but it kept crashing through my mind, what if, what if, … what if I didn’t qualify? Hitler won’t look so crazy, then … I fought, fought hard, harder but, one cell at a time, panic crept into my body. Any minute now my name would be called for the final jump. I looked at Hitler’s box. Empty. His way of saying that Jesse Owens was inferior. Around that box, filling every seat, were a hundred thousand Germans. All wanting Luz Long to beat me.

And there, laughing in a carefree way near the broad-jump pit, was Luz Long. He had only had to take one preliminary jump. Because he’d broken the Olympic record with it. I walked back to the broad-jump area. As I did, I heard a name called. Mine. Now it was my turn. I have to find strength somewhere, I said to myself. Have to reach into myself and find the strength to make it, to do my best. Almost instinctively, I dropped down on my knees. Pray. Must pray, I whispered to myself. But in front of a hundred thousand people?

“Jesse Owens!” It was the loudspeaker announcing my name for the second time. I closed my eyes, one of my knees touching the ground. Oh, God, I pleaded wordlessly with everything that was inside me. Help me to pray. But I couldn’t. Couldn’t.

“Jesse Owens!” Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder. It wasn’t the loudspeaker calling my name a final time. It was a man standing right there next to me.

It was Luz Long. My archenemy. Or was he? The way his hand rested on my shoulder, the vibrations I felt as he looked at me and smiled, made me know somehow that, far from being my enemy, he was my friend.

“I Luz Long,” he said, introducing himself. I nodded. “I think I know what is wrong with you,” he went on. “You give everything when you jump. I the same. You cannot do halfway, but you are afraid you will foul again.”

“That’s right,” I said, finding my voice for the first time.

“I have answer,” he said. “Same thing happen to me last year in Cologne.”

There were literally only seconds left before I had to jump or default. Luz told me to simply remeasure my steps and jump from six inches in back of the takeoff board—giving it all I had. That way I could give 100 percent, and still not be afraid of fouling. He even laid his towel down at exactly the place from which I was to jump. It was so simple! And it worked.

I could feel the confident energy surging back into my body as I stood still for that brief second before beginning my run. I went as fast as I ever had, took off, and felt almost like I was flying. When I came down, it was more than twenty-six feet—an Olympic record—from the takeoff board. With the extra six inches, it surely would have been a new unofficial record. But what did I care about records? I was in the finals.

I didn’t know how to thank Luz Long. All I could offer was my friendship. I met with him that night, and we talked, over coffee, in the Olympic Village. We might’ve stayed up a little later than athletes should who have to compete against the best from every country in the following days, but it was worth it.

For the bond between us gave a spiritual strength that was greater than the physical. Luz and I, it turned out, were very much alike. He was married and had one child, as I did. A son, Karl. He had come from humble beginnings. And he didn’t believe Hitler’s Aryan supremacy statements and was disturbed by Hitler’s military aggressiveness. Still, it was his country and he felt that if he didn’t fight for it, he would be putting his family in danger.

I asked him about religion. He said that he did not have any, had never really known any. “Do you believe in God?” I questioned. He held out his hands, palms up, as if to say he didn’t know. Then he shrugged a little, as if to add that he had never really had any evidence that there was a higher power. He was so good, and all the truly good people I’d known till then believed in God. But even if Luz was a Nazi who might soon be my archenemy again, trying to kill my countrymen and even me, I felt that beneath that he was my brother. And even though he didn’t believe in God, I believed in Luz Long.

We spent each night afterward talking, and the days competing. Because of the support he gave me, I won the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter, breaking records in both, and helped to lead my team to victory, and a record, in the relay. But most of all, I was waiting for the high point: the broad-jump. For here, once again, Luz and I would be competing against each other. Without him, I would have never been competing at all. Yet I somehow had to fuse that feeling with the will to do my best. For wasn’t my love for Luz, and yes, I loved him—a love for the best that is within man, and within me?

The day of the broad-jump arrived. One by one, the other finalists fell by the wayside. Then, it was only Luz Long and Jesse Owens. His first leap took the lead. I beat it. His second of three was even better. I beat it by half an inch. I watched him take a deep breath before his final leap. I watched his blue eyes look up into the sky, then down, fixing on a point which he knew, and I knew, would be well over an Olympic record. I could see him transforming the same beautiful energy which had enabled him to come to me and change the course of my life when I needed it most … into the determination to do what had never been done before—to do what most men would call a “miracle.”

He stood perfectly still for an instant. Only his eyes moved as they looked skyward once more, and then he began his run. Fast from the beginning, not gradual like most, but then faster. His perfectly proportioned legs flashing like pistons now, his finely honed physique working like one total machine, all for one purpose, for one split second.

And then it happened. High. Higher than I’d ever seen anyone leap. But with so much power that it was not merely high, it was far. Incredibly far.

It seemed for a split second that he would never come down. But then he did, straining his body more than I’d ever seen any man strain, as if he were an eagle attempting at the last minute to rise above an infinite mountain...straining...moving forward as he fell downward … forward farther … forward …

He landed! Exactly in the spot on which his eyes had fixed. Luz Long had set a new Olympic record. I rushed over to him. Hugged him. I was glad. So glad. But now … it was my turn.

I took my time, measured my steps once, then again. I was tense, but that good kind of tense that you feel when you have to be tense to do your best. Deep, deep inside, under all the layers, there was a clear, placid pool of peace. Now I, too, stood perfectly still. I, too, looked up at the sky. Then, I looked into Luz’s blue eyes, as he stood off to the side, his face wordlessly urging me to do my best, to do better than I’d ever done

For a while I was one of the most famous people on earth. But I soon discovered how empty fame can be, and how easily it could be exploited by those who would use it, and me, for gain. I became entangled in a number of bad business deals and in a few years, I was bankrupt. It was only the steadfastness of my family and the friendship of Luz Long expressed in letters that helped me through. I was determined to pay back every penny I owed and start again.

Luz was undergoing trials, too. Germany had plunged into war, and he was in the military. After a while the letters we had faithfully exchanged every month or two stopped altogether. Soon America was in the war. I joined up. And then one day I received a letter posted from North Africa. It was over a year old. It was from Luz. It said, in part:

I am here, Jesse, where it seems there is only the dry sand and the wet blood. My heart tells me, if I be honest with you, that this is the last letter I shall ever write. That hour in Berlin when I first spoke to you, when you had your knee upon the ground, I knew that you were in prayer. And I know it is never by chance that we come together.

And you, I believe, will read this letter. I believe this shall come about because I think now that God will make it come about. This is what I have to tell you, Jesse. I believe in God. And I pray to Him that, even while it should not be possible to see you again, these words I write will still be read by you.

Those were Luz’s last words. I learned shortly thereafter that he had been killed in battle just a few days after he had written his letter to me. Our friendship had proved greater than the forces, which divided our nations. I had not lost my brother. His letter spoke the truth: … it is never by chance that we come together. God had sent him to me at a moment of personal despair, and he brought me the gift of hope. Bowing, but unable to pray on that Olympic field, I had given him a sign, a seed of faith which was to blossom in the deserts of North Africa.

Together we had shared the greatest gift of all, which comes from God. The gift of brotherly love which neither competition, nor war, nor even death could annul.

I know the flow is going to make no sense to you.

Just yesterday i came to know that my friend, Shani , died in Durgapur. It was more or less expected . I have been seeing his deterioration from past seven years. But then the question to me was "What went wrong". He died off due to liver infection which was common in heavily drunkards. But why he kept drinking so much . Running away from reality or trying to live in the illusions or delusions caused by Alcohol. Why its very much prevalent in Below poverty line Indians. Why they just fall in this trap of illusion . I sometimes thinks its just mere a chance of having a will power or not. Its not i never felt like that its The solution. But then i had something to fall back , thats my education. Whenever such things happens to me , where i find difficult to cope up with the world , where the only thought in my mind is "either this world is not fit for me or i am not fit for it", i also think one can find some refugee in Alcohol. But then i go back in my room with many books and thats all. Few days of deep dive into the books , and i come out of it.
But what about the uneducated youth of India, they need something which can bring them out of their depressions. Either its any hobby like singing or dancing or doing something , which can energize as well as synergize them .If they dont have anything to cling on, then i think its obvious to fall into the religion called Alcoholism . It's nothing different from preaching a God , ones faith in God increases during the time of adversity . If one comes out of it, then he/she always clings with his/her faith. But if it doesnt work out , and if he/she finds a reason for it , then he thinks as a way of god ( something less theist , but theist on the basis of reason) . But if doesnt work out and if no reasons, then either he choose to be agnostic or atheist depending upon his will power , not to believe in God or keep something in backyard for place. Same was the case with Shani .He was neither an educated youth, nor he had something to cling on like hobbies. Poverty is a curse in India and he was born cursed. Father working in a hostel mess and Shani started his teenage working at a jhoops ( at that time known as Rohan da's Jhoops). Never entered in the school and all he knew was TRUST on customer. I had never seen Shani looking at the Khata's which we used to update with daily expenditure at his jhoops. Only in the end of the month or end of the page , Shani would add and make a total of it. After Rohan da's Jhoops , Shani started his own jhoops. He thought why starting a competition with other jhoops of making Roti or benagali thali. I bet if he had started it , others would loose in front of it. He was good in whatever he did. His jhoops was famous for Chiks and sweet french. Some people think that these dishes can't compete with normal food, but believe me , it was soo good that i had these dishes for more than 2.5 years . Only pr oblem with Shani was , he used to mix with students soo much that the thin line of a business man and the client went away. Shani fall in this habit of drinks and smoking G because students of RECD did it and all those students who used to do these things , they used to go to Shani for having food ( Because he never cheat them with adding extra cost and making a benefit of their state). Infact , he also started drinking with students , only to be a part of their circle . But things changed with time. and Shani didnt . Slowly and Slowly his drinking habits alienated him from his society , people from his locality started teasing him and family also turned negative toward him. He moved more toward alcohol because it gave him an illusion of being away from people. With the advent of more ladies and more pro-ladies men in the college, Shani jhoops was tagged as a jhoops for Drunkard and Smokers . With each year, number of customers started decreasing and him falling in alcoholism more. And one day , this religion of alcohol swallowed him .

But again , who was responsible . I also have some cents in his death . I could have something . But dont know why i was so self centered that i couldnt see his fall.

This is not a post or a past. This is the intrigue present , the gift given to me by the holy lord. Ooh , that sounds like a verse , but believe me being Me, Myself and I makes the racked and ruined curse. Long time back when i watched the movie "12 monkeys" , i loved the dialogue "Mentally divergent ... planet of ogo" and the concept of world getting to an end , but this year seems to be a hard year for me . Started with some official issues , penetrating into my personal life and now giving me such experiences. From past one & half week , my life is on a run with a fact that one of my junior is having a multi-organ Tumor , which is also known as cancer. It started back long back , nearly two years when he had pain in his abdomen and found to have some tumor in liver, problem RCA'ed and customer was given a fix of that with a surgery. But soon thing went ugly and family poured all their money and patience into it from past two years. Then one day i got a call and came to know about this . Initial response from my side were quite low. I was busy with my own official stuff but suddenly one day another junior called me and told that patient's brother wanted to talk me . Talked with him and the night was insomniac. Then from past one and half week, we tried our best to reach out the best doctors of India . With lots of helpful people , everyday we were getting some inputs from various doctors all over india. But each time i talk with patient's brother, life seems to be a bitch. Results of all the consultations were horrifying and we found that there is no solution now . Its already late . But it is difficult to convey to family. We are their only hope and fact is we are hopeless . Searching for light , how can we give light to them? I being bad at giving some false assurances or in worldly terms , bad in consoling , is more hit mentally on this. Yesterday when i had a word with patient' brother yesterday when he was in delhi to consult a cancer specialist(infact the only cancer specialist we consulted so far, who gave us positive response on the first consultation), he was a bit happy that patient had some movement . But today was a dooms day. My phone rang and picked up, he cried and told doctors has told of no hope. I was numb, he was crying and crying. I cut the phone but still his voice is echoing in my head. Such a trauma the family is going through. Father has invested his provident fund, his complete pension and all he has in patient's medications and its not about money like money. Its the psychological impact the family is going through. No one eats anything for days and days, sitting next to him without any sleep. Their eyes are red and blood is not.We know the end is coming but still the thought of it shivers me down. I close my eyes and see them all. I have never seen his family but deep down in my mind i know them all. This is not the end, this is not the beginning .Just a voice like a riot rocking every revision.
I pray to god to do some miracle .

After nearly a year, i got time to post on this blog. While i went through previous posts, certain thoughts came surrounded my mind : Have I lost myself in the search of light or life ? Have I made myself busy enough not to think ? What has really changed in past one year. The only thing which i can think of is : I lost myself somewhere in this game of life. But then who was i and who am I now ? Was that me who used to enjoy free world , one who used to go out with friends , one who used to be known as **Most Notorious fellow ** in school or was it the one who used to spend time in college library, who used to talk about darkness within light , who used to shave his head because police was searching for him , who was known as **Misogynist ** in college or the one who looks at code and thinks i suffer from codingophobia or one who looks at mirror everyday and prays to god to please kill him or one who is smiling at the world looking from the peak of Arunachala Hill , one who still silently alone in Gloria Jean and orders for more and more caffeine. How drastic things changed for me , infact they were not drastic. It was a very gradual unnoticed change which was happening within myself and slowly it changed me. Now if I look back, those days look like a dream or activities happened in some other parallel universe. But still the question remained unanswered : What changed in past one year ?

This year will be a remarkable year of my life , in this year I powered myself enough with self-control that i nearly stopped calling any of my friends , infact if i look at my total talktime, it might be less than 24 hours . I moved more toward finding new directions in life either by photography or my painting or by writing stories or by involving myself in alumnus activities. Someone once told me if you keep yourself busy , you will forget all pains . But whats the pain which i want to forget. There are certain things which keep flourishing in our mind irrespective of the fact that they never exist in real life. Good thing about this year was I came out of a phobia, i used to think that i wont live without talking but now that over :-). This year made me love a song more than ever, its " raat humari toh - Parineeta movie"

I discovered many ways to mend my aloofness, sometimes by listening lots & lots of music and sometimes by reading books. But it never went away, infact i have realized the more i try to push herself away from me , the more she pulls me towards to her. I think she must be given a title of Best actress in this world as "She always draws my attention" :-) . Thats also another achievement of the year, my jokes quality has 
improved a lot naa ....!!!!  Atleast this year , i have learnt this lesson that I can't go back to yesterday  - because I was a different person then.So i need to find new ways to find my identity. 

Anyways  this will continue, till i find it and somehow i know i will find it soon .

Knowledge is power

The saying that little knowledge is a dangerous thing is , to my mind, a very dangerous adage . If knowledge is real and genuine, I don’t believe that it is other than a valuable possession however infinitesimal is quantity may be. Indeed, if a little knowledge is dangerous, where is the man who has so much as to be out of danger .

It was a dusty morning, both in terms of real and imaginary. Real because I had to inhale the polluted air of delhi and imaginary because again I started my journey on the train without any known destination. While I was looking to the world windows of the of the delhi metro, I looked at a school, some Shishu vidhyalya , with a tag line “Knowledge is power”. Just above this line, there was an advertisement banner of cycle shop, seems like the sponsor of the school. It reminded me of the snippet by Renan J in the book ‘Dialogues et fragments philosophies’ ‘Savior c’est pouviour’est le plus beau mot qu’on ait dit : Means ‘Knowlegde is power’ is the finest idea ever put into words’. Now my mind was trying to find the difference between knowledge and power and the correlation between them.

Then in the evening I met a friend of mine , whom I know from past eight years , and I asked him the same question : difference between knowledge and power. He joined a core designing company from college and then moved to one of the navratan companies of india and currently preparing very hard for Indian Engineering services. His answer of my query “Power is when TTE of railways gives me his seat for my waiting ticket and a traffic police man salutes me when he stops me for checking” and “knowledge is what will help me attain that power” . I was pretty much satisfied by his answer as in his answers I couldn’t find any negativity for others. But when I asked the same query while my dad was telling me a story of an uncle who is a KAS (KAS is ‘Kashmir administrator services’ , a similar exam like IAS) . The story was about the helplessness of the educated officers . So my dad was a kind of supporting this uncle’s acts of corruption because if he doesn’t do that , how he can arrange the parties for the CM or MP’s. Upon my response that arranging parties was not the part of his job , I was given the answer : “If he doesn’t do that, he will lose all his powers.”

So now I again got entangled in the paradox of power and knowledge . If one does what is he certified to do , can that act diminishes his knowledge , if not then how come power. Does power means what has been imparted to him by CM or the higher officials or Power is what he has attained by his knowledge , by his wisdom. I am sorry , as I know “knowledge” and “wisdom” are not the same.

By this time , the knowledge I have gained by my friend and by my dad , shows me that Henry Kissinger words were correct “Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac” and words of Crisp Quentin “I expect that rape and murder , either separately or mixed together ,fill the fantasies of most men and all stylists. They are the supreme acts of ascendancy over others; they yields the only moments when a man is certain beyond all doubt that his message has been received. Of the few who live out these dreams, some preface rape with murder so as to avoid embracing a partner who might criticize their techniques”.

I know most of you have not understood my thoughts and I can assure you that I am also in the queue. Few minutes back I cleaned an old bag where I found Ramana Maharishi’s book “Self realization”. I picked and started reading it in random. Its gist (in my own words: not quoted by Ramana Maharishi or anyone) was “Inner knowledge i.e knowledge of the self gives you an ultimate power of creation and destruction. Since the whole universe exists because we believe it exits. Universe becomes a quantum space when we sleep. By quantum space , I mean a space where no dimensions of the world works , you die , people die , you met friends and foes , you kill , you bury sadness , you fly and you cry (of course you can say all this happens in real world also so what’s the difference in real and dream land . All I can say is it’s just a thin layer between conscious and unconscious world). So when we wake up that whole quantum space vanishes and next time, it will be different. Self knowledge gives you the power of non attachment, which makes you see the world as deciphered in the movie ‘Inception’. ”

At least this definition of power and knowledge was something understandable by me. But still the definitions of the knowledge and power given by friend and parents were not wrong. They are the revised definitions, in our language definitions 2.0 which says “Knowledge is what gave you the power to set the controls over the Sun” “Gather as much knowledge as you need to save your asses and it becomes power” “ Knowledge is the certificate of the power” And power is , in hitler’s words “Deutschland wird entweder Weltmacht oder uberhaupt nicht sein : Means Germany will either be a world power or will not exist at all [Mein Kamph 1927]”

Our knowledge can only be finite, while our ignorance must necessarily be infinite.

It was about 11:30 pm when my flight had landed at New Delhi Terminal -3. In fact I had chosen such a late flight as it was quite within my stretched financial limits. It had been nearly eight long years; I had spent any fest with the family so this time I decided to visit them before it’s too late. Rephrasing an old adage “Give others time to miss you but not so much that they start enjoying living without you”. I was pretty excited about my trip as and I had chalked out several plans to spend time with family and meet college friends without any floating transcendental thoughts in my mind.

At the dark hours of the night, with all around people in the airport rushing from one end to the other, some sipping coffee to keep them warm in the chilling winters of Delhi and other reading the newspaper/magazines to held their heads up till their flight times and few like me just waiting for the night to get over and leave the airport for another destination. Listening to the old song ‘Chupke se of Sathaiyaa movie’ , I was just going over the pages of my new read ‘Jhumpa Lahri’s - Unaccustomed earth’ . I was feeling thirsty so went to drink water. Found one government installed drinking water tap, so thought of giving it a try. But as always being a fickle minded personality, I looked for the hooks for how to use that tap. Struggled for few minutes and finally quit this plan of drinking from that tap. In my heart I was scolding government for installing such complicated machines and that too without any instruction set on how to use it. I was about to move back to my seat with an heavy heart , that a girl child of merely 7-8 years came and start using that tap . Flabbergasted to see this, I looked back how she was using this equipment. I laughed at myself that what a big generation gap it was between me and them. I being working in so called the most ebullient and innovative industry, was unable to find it usage and this kiddo who merely know how to speak her name use that machine on the fly. Once she was done, I followed her foot steps to fulfill my thirst. I drank more than what I wanted only to make sure my fake varchasav (Varchasav : an socio-politics term means urge to attain complete power ) . I turned back to say thanks to that kiddo for saving my fifty bucks on water. She replied me back with an unexplainable smile and welcomed my thanks. I had a candy in my pocket so I offered her that but she being aware of the swindled humanism of people, refused to take it. I understood the pure intentions behind that so didn’t force her and ate it in front of her ;-) .

She went back to her parents and I came to my seat. Again I was back to the story of a Bengali ‘Partho da’ in love of an English lady in the book I was reading . Out of the blues of the babbling silence, of the people’s chitchat and running footsteps, someone patted my back. I turned back and found that sweet kiddo looking at me with stunning looks. I was in a confusion that had I done something wrong. I, with fumbling heart, asked her “what happened beta ?”. She raised her temples and asked me “Are you are a computer engineer or an I.T engineer?”. As soon as those words as electrical pulses hit my neurons, It didn’t take even seconds to realize that Sabnam was somewhere around. I smiled and started groping for words but was just speechless with a smile on my face. Without wasting any time, I asked her “where is She?”. Aah , Someone knocked my head with a plastic bottle and I turned back and saw her . With one hand rubbing I was my forehead and with other hand , pinching my body to check that it was not a dream. For next few seconds, it was just silence which surrounded both of us and then she said “How are you ? How long ? Do you remember we met ... ??” . I replied “Yes, too long and I do remember that day in coffee house”. I was not able to accept the reality at that time, I was thinking it’s a dream or a dream within dream something even more complicated than Christopher Nolan’s ‘Inception’. I just looked at her face and kept on looking at her. Before I utter something, she put another bunch of questions “Why so silent? What are you upto now a days? How is my daughter looking ? Doesn’t she look the same as I had described?” .I replied all her queries in very few words “Do you still remember the conversation we had on that day?”. She replied “Word by word”. I always thought that for her , it’s would had been a normal conversation that we had on that day but with her answer I was again back to the space , floating somewhere back in time and then again I regained myself . Shook my head and asked her “would you like a cup of coffee; I need it to come back from the blackout zone”. She said “which blackout zone?? What are you talking? Are you fine?” I just smiled back and moved toward the Costa coffee counter and got two cups of cappuccino and a nutrition bar for the kid. I said “She is the same as you described”. She reverted with another sequence of questions “Ooh , really then why didn’t you recognized her in the first instance ? Where are you settled at? What are you doing now-a-days? ..” and many more . It’s been very less time in my life, when I really felt ‘loss of words’. One such incidence was during my toefl exam when I had to speak impromptus on some topic and I just blacked out . And next was in front of questions. With such hustling – bustling airport, I can sense the silence in the air but with the caffeine going inside , Its kicking me back to the world. Her girl was ditto like her. I replied few of her queries and after each reply she kept on adding a payload “you are an I.T engineer”. And all could revert was a smile.

I then asked her ‘how is her family and job , still in Calcutta and where she is leaving for now along with her daughter’ . She told that her husband has got a job in Saudi Arabia and She had returned from Saudi few weeks ago to spend some time with family at Lucknow and was taking tomorrow’s morning flight for Calcutta to visit her parent-in-laws . Then I asked her about life outside India. It was like I touched some dangling pointer and their occurred a segmentation fault. I could feel the presence of resentment in her eyes. I said “sorry I just asked it , change the topic if you don’t like telling it”. She said “Nothing like that , it’s just boring to be there . Women don’t have freedom to do things as freely as here, religion has hard emotion and fundamentalism attached and most important I haven’t made any friend to talk with till now and have no job” . I understood what she really was going through as I always feel that “We are unique but not so unique”, means whatever we do, however we live but in the end of the day, we want someone to talk with, someone who could listen our overflowing stack of thoughts and give us some directions to marshal them along with discussing their thought process. So knowing her problem, I again smiled back and this time with a little giggle. She felt offended and yelled at me “You are also others, taking it for granted”. The way she yelled , I eschewed my reasons to laugh because It was like if I would have smiled again , she might slap me down and I never wanted to experience that . I replied her “I am not laughing at your situation, was just trying visualize it.” She replied “oo yaa, so what did you visualize my I.T Engineer”. I again giggled looking at her eyes.

We exchanged what I believed were secret smiles and in those moments I felt that she understood me better than anyone else in this world. Her daughter recited several rhymes which made me laugh as her innocence and her acts which made me nostalgic about me freaking past. She reminded me being a child who blows up a bubble of soap. At first the bubble is very small, but it is already spherical. Then the child blows the bubble up very softly, until he/she is afraid that it will burst. And being a child like her, she rejoiced in those little bursts also. And I and Sabnam were just smiling at each other. But aah whats this ??? I could hear the sudden siren filling up the silence in the air. The sound was increasing like hell and I was feeling like soon it’s going to penetrate through my ear drums. I put my hands on her kid’s ears and closed my eyes praying to God. Suddenly someone juddered me. I opened my eyes and it was Rounak shouting at me to stop my alarm clock. I looked here and there , touched the wall and the cold floor to see if this is a dream or that was a dream. The Voidness : शून्यता

Reading about Voidness and its importance in life :

In psychology ,Voidness is described as the period of time, during which we are involved in an overt or covert compulsive act. Due to our limited awareness from being withdrawn from our surroundings...there is a gap in memory..or pocket of time where our awareness is limited. (e.g. - We may be trapped in a mental compulsion while someone is talking to us and not remember much of what they had said by the time we are done). Conversely, this term has also been used to describe the period of time one use to spend in obsessive-compulsive behavior. There is an increasing lack of tension in the gap of one’s thoughts as the occurrence of their symptoms begin to decrease

Śūnyatā : शून्यता signifies that everything one encounters in life is empty of absolute identity, permanence, or an in-dwelling 'self'. This is because everything is inter-related and mutually dependent - never wholly self-sufficient or independent. All things are in a state of constant flux where energy and information are forever flowing throughout the natural world giving rise to and themselves undergoing major transformations with the passage of time.

Anātman :अनात्मन् refers to the notion of "not-self". In the early texts, the Buddha commonly uses the word in the context of teaching that all things perceived by the senses (including the mental sense) are not really "I" or "mine", and for this reason one should not cling to them.

The monk Ananda, the attendant to Gautama Buddha asked, "It is said that the world is empty, the world is empty, lord. In what respect is it said that the world is empty?" The Buddha replied, "Insofar as it is empty of a self or of anything pertaining to a self: Thus it is said, Ananda, that the world is empty." He goes on to explain that what is meant by "the world" is the six sense media and their objects, and elsewhere says that to theorize about something beyond this realm of experience would put one to grief.

The fundamental reason for suffering is human beings' ignorance (Pāli: avijjā; Sanskrit: avidyā) – our inability to perceive how things really are. We regard "what is impermanent as permanent, what is suffering as pleasure, and what is not-self [Pāli: anattā; Sanskrit: anātman] as self."

यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत ।
अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम् ॥४-७॥
परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम् ।
धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे ॥४-८॥

yada yada hi dharmasya
glanir bhavati bharata
abhyutthanam adharmasya
tadatmanam srjamy aham

Transliteration:

"Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion—at that time I descend Myself."

असतो मा सद्गमय
तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय
मृत्योर् मा अमृतं गमय
ॐ शांति शांति शांति
Asato maa sadgamaya
Tamaso maa jyotirgamaya
Mṛtyor maa amṛtan gamaya
Aum shaanti shaanti shaanti

“Oh Almighty! Lead us from the unreal (falsity)
to the real (truth) from darkness to light!
From death to immortality!
Oh Almighty! May there be Peace! Peace! Peace!”

Sorry on this serious Note , it reminded me of a funny story on तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय part.

एक सज्जन ने एक घटना सुनायी थी... !!!

एक माँ ने अपने पुत्र से, जो कि कक्षा 10 का छात्र था, एक प्रश्न किया -
"तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय... संस्कृत के इस सद् वाक्य का अर्थ बता सकते हो।"

रात का समय था, संयोग से बिजली भी चली गयी और अंधेरा छा गया।

पुत्र बोला - "हाँ, क्यों नहीं माँ, बहुत आसान है, इसका अर्थ है कि -
माँ, तुम सो जाओ, (तमसो मा) बिजली चली गयी है (ज्योतिर्गमय) "

माता ने झल्ला कर कहा, "तुझे कुछ नहीँ मालूम, कल ठीक से पढ़ कर बताना"

अगले दिन दोपहर का समय था -

माँ - "क्यों बेटा, अब पढ़ लिया, अब तो बताओ कि तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय का क्या अर्थ है"

पुत्र - "हाँ, कल कुछ ग़लती हो गयी थी, इसका अर्थ है -

माँ, तुम सो जाओ (तमसो मा), मैं ज्योति के साथ जा रहा हूँ (ज्योतिर्गमय) "

इस घटना मैंने अपने एक मित्र को भी बताया, अभी उसके वास्तविक अर्थ पर बात नहीं हुयी थी। वहाँ पर उन मित्र का पुत्र भी मौजूद था, जब उससे भी यह प्रश्न किया गया, तो वह तपाक से बोला -

"इस स्लोगन को कहीँ देखा है, - हो न हो, यह भैया के स्कूल का ही स्लोगन है!"

अब देखते हैं कि देश के अन्य भावी कर्णधारों का क्या मत है इस विषय पर।

Shadows and Dust -Part I

It was long time i was thinking to pen down something for Sabnam , the only romantic trance in my life. For most of my friends and well wishers ,she is just my imagination but i know she is more than "Just Imagination" . It was long back when I first saw her in the coffee house of Calcutta. She was as beautiful as the morning dew on the rose. It was 27th October, 2005 . The azure sky with some babbling college street and in all this she came into the coffee house. I was alone waiting for my orders and with some murky thoughts in my minds. She came and asked me if she could join me . At that time , i was famous as a misogynist among friends so as expected behavior, i didnt reply her.She put her books and sat on the chair next to me. It was a month of October and Durgapuja celebrations were at acme in Calcutta . She was carrying a book on idols and pandals. I was carrying some of the engineering books as college street used to be the hub for cheap books and we used to come there once in a semester. I picked one book out of my bag and started reading the book as if I was a great technocrat ;-). But that what Coffee house was for . This Coffee house was always crowed with people discussing political situations ,revolutions, movements and chit chat of guys-gals and with slow moving fans and Cow boy waiters. As soon as you enter here , you would find yourself involved in some discussion or the other and of course the service was that slow that you need some discussion to pass your time . But amidst all these discussions and noisy environment, our table was surrounded with silence . Then suddenly she asked me "Tummi Bengali ache (Are you a bengali?)" . Perplexed with her question , I replied with a head shake "NO" with no word uttered from my mouth.Before I start looking down ,She put another question in front of me "You are a computer engineer" . Mustering all my courage , one word came out of my mouth "NO". Before she put forth her next question, my order came and deep in my heart I was happy that now I will concentrate on eating so no need to reply her questions. i started eating Chicken noodles with a cup of hot coffee. I was acting like while eating i dont look up. I could see that she was looking at me but completely ignoring her. Suddenly she waived her hand infront of my eyes and said "I am not going to eat your food, I am a veggy so you can eat it with your head up" . I gave a crooked smile as if i was a some james bond ;-) . I said thats not an issue , its a habit. She smiled and said it ok ,she was just joking. Then I also thought that it really ill mannered behavior if i will keep on eating like that. So i decided to wait for her order to come. Till then she again asked me the same question "Are you a computer engineer" and this time i appended some more words "No, I am an I.T engineer" . She looked at me and laughed . I said "I am not joking like you . I am an IT engineer and IT engineer are different from computer engineer". She stopped laughing and replied "Ooh really, how they are different ..i thought both are same , just different terminologies". Now since she had challenged my answer so i decided to prove my point . I told her this and that logic, i was then groping for words .Suddenly the cow boy came in (i.e the waiter of coffee house : I call them cow boys as they were like dictators of coffee house ) with a plate same chicken noddles as in my counter . I thought of asking her that why she lied to me about being veggy but than thought how it matters to me. She put the plate down and said "Speak out , whats in your mind?? I am non-vegetarian and working in IBM as Software engineer". i was flabbergasted as i thought that she must be some arts student because she was carrying some arts and crafts book on Durgapuja. I , with a distorted look , replied "Okay". We continued eating and had coffee with no words transfer . Once i was done , I called the cow boy and asked for bill and so did she . We paid our bills and I started picking up my stuff . She asked me "tummi kothaye jabe (Where are you going now)". I replied "back to the my heaven". She smiled and asked "where is that" . "REC, Durgapur" ,said I . She told that she was also going toward railway station and so lets go together. I nodded my head stating ok. We took an auto for railway station. In the auto , she told me that her name was Sabnam and she was from Lucknow basically, she was married and had one daughter . She even showed me her daughter's photograph. She talked and talked on the whole way down. Whenever I tried to ignore her talks , she gave baleful look as if she would slap me . She told me lots of stories, about her family, parents, parent-in-laws , her daughter ,her husband and how her home was like and how her office was like, the struggles of her life and the most memorable moments of her life. I kept shaking my head for the whole time. Soon the howrah railway station came and I took my luggage out of the auto . She paid the auto fair , i resisted but she replied "You have listened my talks and think its a fee of bearing with me ". I replied "No, thats not fair. I was enjoying your talks". She told "ooh, really .. I am elder than you kiddo, I have lived more than you, seen more that .. and I know I.T and computer engineer are not different". I was like a numb looks like no words left in my mind. I started walking toward the station with fast beating heart , that much fast that in the hustle bustle of the station, i could hear my heart beat . I got into the train "Danapur express" , but in the obscurity of the journey, I keep on thinking for her simplicity and her extravagant talkings. Reached Hostel late dark night with her words illuminating my mind. Till today , whenever i close my eyes, her face comes infront of my mind with her stories and words flowing out of herself.She was not the most beautiful lady or nothing like that , She was a loquacious lady with an unfailingly jovialness.

All my college friends know about the authenticity of the narration.

Yesterday I got one book "Stray birds by Rabindranath tagore ". In my opinion its not a book , its a compilation of the best lines you can ever read in your lifetime.

Before moving ahead in listing some of the lines which have been carved out in my mind, i will like to share an awesome poem by Rabindranath tagore :

WHERE THE MIND IS WITHOUT FEAR

Where the mind is without fear
and the head is held high;

Where knowledge is free,
Where the world has not been
broken up into fragments
by narrow domestic walls;

Reminding the golden days of my past where I always lived with a blast.

Let me try to integrate life using these lines .

Some are the old poems , i am not sure if "POEM" is the apposite word for these lines.

Stage 1:
This is when we were very small to understand the motion and rotation of fan and this world. :-0

Stage 3 :When we start learning whats life and what are living organisms:

Stage 4 : When we start learning the human nature.In this stage we learn how to eat the same fish whom we used to call as " जल की रानी" and now we talk about eating it.

Stage 10 : Here we start differentiating between God and Lucifer, Good and bad But here we only think in the sphere of our religious influence , not country feeling yet .

Stage 12 : Now comes the stage , when we become a part of Mature class and we suddenly realize that now we need to choose some career in our life , we need to take decisions of our own . It is the Stage when we start assaying the life .

और चिता पर जाये उंढेला पत्र न घ्रित का, पर प्याला
कंठ बंधे अंगूर लता में मध्य न जल हो, पर हाला,
प्राण प्रिये यदि श्राध करो तुम मेरा तो ऐसे करना
पीने वालांे को बुलवा कऱ खुलवा देना मधुशाला।।८४।

नाम अगर कोई पूछे तो, कहना बस पीनेवाला
काम ढालना, और ढालना सबको मदिरा का प्याला,
जाति प्रिये, पूछे यदि कोई कह देना दीवानों की
धर्म बताना प्यालों की ले माला जपना मधुशाला।।८५।

ज्ञात हुआ यम आने को है ले अपनी काली हाला,
पंिडत अपनी पोथी भूला, साधू भूल गया माला,
और पुजारी भूला पूजा, ज्ञान सभी ज्ञानी भूला,
किन्तु न भूला मरकर के भी पीनेवाला मधुशाला।।८६।

यम ले चलता है मुझको तो, चलने दे लेकर हाला,
चलने दे साकी को मेरे साथ लिए कर में प्याला,
स्वर्ग, नरक या जहाँ कहीं भी तेरा जी हो लेकर चल,
ठौर सभी हैं एक तरह के साथ रहे यदि मधुशाला।।८७।

पाप अगर पीना, समदोषी तो तीनों - साकी बाला,
नित्य पिलानेवाला प्याला, पी जानेवाली हाला,
साथ इन्हें भी ले चल मेरे न्याय यही बतलाता है,
कैद जहाँ मैं हूँ, की जाए कैद वहीं पर मधुशाला।।८८।

Stage 15: This is the stage where we undergo a therapy called "Let it go" to ease our pains and calculate our gains :

परिवर्तन संसार का नियम है। जिसे तुम मृत्यु समझते हो, वही तो जीवन है। एक क्षण में तुम करोड़ों के स्वामी बन जाते हो, दूसरे ही क्षण में तुम दरिद्र हो जाते हो। मेरा-तेरा, छोटा-बड़ा, अपना-पराया, मन से मिटा दो, फिर सब तुम्हारा है, तुम सबके हो।

न यह शरीर तुम्हारा है, न तुम शरीर के हो। यह अग्नि, जल, वायु, पृथ्वी, अाकाश से बना है अौर इसी में मिल जायेगा। परन्तु अात्मा स्थिर है - फिर तुम क्या हो?

तुम अपने अापको भगवान के अर्पित करो। यही सबसे उत्तम सहारा है। जो इसके सहारे को जानता है वह भय, चिन्ता, शोक से सर्वदा मुक्त है।
जो कुछ भी तू करता है, उसे भगवान के अर्पण करता चल। ऐसा करने से सदा जीवन-मुक्त का अानंन्द अनुभव करेगा।

Huah …!!! What a cartoonscape by “The Hindu” .

That’s India media and power of the Pen . Here no-one talked about the Ankik Dhar ...Shilpa Goenka and Anindyee Dhar, who were killed in the Pune terror . Who will remember whether Ankik was an IITian or this was the last Facebook post of Anindyee "I believe in being a beautiful and strong woman who will make heads turn and eyes look up. I am my own princess and I need a prince who needs me," .All our media cares is India becoming " Number 1 in Cricket" and India a peace loving country is ready for the talks with pakistan. Isn’t that shame for us that in 60 years of independence only , we are finding our National Icons like “Tiger as National Animal” and ”Hockey as National Game” becoming extinct . I am happy that our constitution doesn’t made any National language else don’t know what will happen to it . Rather than focusing on the real issues and tacking terrorism (whether its internal “Naxals” or its external “Pakistan sponsored one”) , our home minister Mr. P.Chidambaram is inviting his illegitimate brothers from Pakistan occupied Kashmir to india. Already we have enough of them who burning India’s flag on 15 August (http://www.hindujagruti.org/news/5410.html) and other are hollering that we are Pakistani (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/India/We_are_Pakistanis_says_Geelani/articleshow/3378137.cms). After all, we have seen the 26 November 2009 ,a ferocious terrorist attack but unfortunately what our media covered was only TAJ Hotel Because at Taj,lot of high class society people and people from foreign origin died . No-one cared about C.S.T. Railway Station , the below picture is more than enough to say any more word on this.

Each day Naxals ,Maoists and a lot of other anti-government elements are killing poor villagers ,police men and our soldiers in the name of freedom from suppression . It is a sad irony that much of the Red Corridor is not only extremely poor, but extremely resource rich, with enough land for potential factories and advanced and efficient farming these regions are also rich in coal, uranium, bauxite and other minerals. But who owns all this wealth? No one and surely not the tribals, under whose feet much of this wealth lies. India needs a revolution ,and if someday that revolution will happen, I am sure that will change the course of history of world.

Aah..!!! Its getting late for me as I have to sleep so that I can wake up .

Wall don't protect, they isolate you

From the day I saw the advertisement of "SAVE OUR TIGER" initiative with the 1411 number of tigers ,I was thinking to write a blog on this. Ooh ..!!! you must be thinking that i am gonna write for the Tigers and blah blah things. I would have written on that topic if on the same day West bengal hadn't approved "Rangnath Mishra Commission " to be implemented. I am not against any religion or against the uplifting of the so called backward classes. I am just looking like a futuristic and I can see if this "Rangnath Mishra Commission " and commissions for the ** Depressed Classes ** like "Sachar Committee" and "Mandal Commission- Part-1(implemented in the era of V.P.Singh) and Part-II (implemented by Arjun Singh)" will soon are bringing another Advertisement : "SAVE OUR GENERAL CATEGORY HINDOO's : only 1411 left in India ". I can see you raising you eyebrows but am sure the way its going to happen soon, just as soon as the END OF THE DAYS in 2012 ,may be I will be a Aditya Rahim Khan or Aditya Das or Aditya Dogra(With a certificate that I belong to a backward area: With money in india , its not difficult to buy these kinda labels). The govt or our representatives are making new rules for Reservations for minority(where they are in minority) and for majority(Like in Jammu and Kashmir, where we have nearly 80% reservations in all govt jobs, in medical colleges and in all tenders for them ). Long time back someone told me the defination of the Politician : One who shakes your hand before elections and your Confidence after. .

Cant we have a system where we give free education to all economical suppressed class of people and once we raise them to some level , let them compete with others in open air. These kind of Committees and Commissions are the reasons behind Godhra and Orissa riots and a lot more in future riots . Why we are making someone special based on their caste ,creed or religion ? As I have mentioned in the subject of the Post "Wall don't protect, they isolate you..." , similarly these kind of new bills and rules are not doing good for anyone , they are just isolating them .

It reminded me of the movie "Rang de basanti" , where the Britishers sent a Maulvi to convince Ashfaqulla khan . Maulvi said "Ye hindoo tumhe istemal kar rahe rahe hai" ..
Ashfaqulla khan replied "Hum ne hinduyoon ki nahi Hindoostan ki aazadi ki liye larai cheri hai" ..

That used to be love for the country rather than religion , caste and creed.

Another day in my sick world . Laptop is formated , throat is infected and mind is empty , thats my today's description. Woke up(not sure that i had slept also) and decided to listen some song to start my thought process . Opened youtube and the first song came into my mind was "Metallica's - One". As soon as the song started ... I find the lyrics were different , may be different from what I always use to hear . I always loved the guitar and drums in the song but this time I dont know why I concentrated more on lyrics .. Fizzing dreams

Blogging is becoming addiction for me now-a-days. My mind has become a multi-threaded system where different thread keep on doing independent tasks in a mutually exclusive manner. One of my mind thread keep on thinking for India and its future, other keep polling RECD/NITD , one for office work and the last one for blogging . With all these threads working simultaneously eat up my whole CPU and I am not getting anytime to process my queued requests for my future . Just reading about Stochastic process in queuing theory ,this is what I found :
Wiki defines Stochastic Process as the process where there is some indeterminacy in its future evolution .

My Life satisfy all conditions of Stochastic Process i.e having some indeterminacy in my future evolution and dealing with not just one possible "reality" of how the process might evolve under time but multiple possibilities .So does that mean I define my life as Stochastic process ????

Anyways , my new post is about the fizzing dreams or bubbling dreams. Its about the busy life in corporate world .Few days back someone forward me a picture which really depicts the corporate cycle nicely . Here it is :

Sometimes when I met some of the managers in Cisco or of other MNC companies who work late nights ** still being managers **, it always remind me the words of my first manager "Get some life". And when such hardworking managers ask me "where do you see yourself after 5 or 10 years?" , I really don't have any answer because the answer in my mind is always "I don't want to be like you living such a restless life :-) :-)". Long time back ,Someone from higher management asked me "How do you think Corporate world has changed your life ? ". I normally resist such questions but on that day , due to some reflex action or in abruption , i replied to that question . My words were "It converted me from a human being into a resource, such a resource whose 50% is one project , 10% on that and rest 40% on that one" . Life in a corporate world can be expressed in the words of Taare Zammen par song "Jamme raho"

SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: Daddy, may I please borrow $25?

The father was furious, "If the only reason you asked about that is so you can borrow
some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself
straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard every day for such childish frivolities." The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy’s questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often.

The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

"Are you asleep, son?" he asked.
"no daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy.
"I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier" said the man.
"It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you." Here's the $25 you asked
for.

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. "Oh, thank you daddy!" He yelled.

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then Looked up at his father. " Why do you want more money if you already have some?" . The father grumbled.

"Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied.

"Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early
tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you."

Don't you think we are making our lives more complex and just like software life cycle we are living a "Software engineer's life cycle" with defined stages and constrained and deadlines . It looks like the modern life cycle is like this :

Trying to pacify each relationship and becoming more and more successful is making our life just like the above picture. We want to donate to the NGO's but only after checking if the donation is in section 80c of income tax regulations , we want Govt to build fly over and roads but we make forged house rent certificates to save Tax. Can't life be as simple as in the movie "God must be crazy". If you have not watched , I will recommend everyone to watch it .. its a hilarious and simple movie .
Now its late for me as I also have to follow the "Software engineer's life cycle" from the morning. Good night folks. But now the issue is In my dreams I'm dying all the time

This pic was clicked by my papa while on his way to Bangalore. It’s taken from a moving train and The best part of the picture is Color's diversification. The blue color of water overlapping with the color of land and then the green trees touching the vast blue sky.

Its in a shop located in U.B.City .The moment I saw this sclupture , words of Sheila Chandra's song ""Ever So Lonely"" started echoing in my head ( youtube link ) .

I call this picture as "Color's of India or Mystic shades of India" . It’s also taken by my papa on his way to Bangalore.

These are two big banners outside the U.B.City. I liked both the quotes and I think both are quite apposite in the real world.

I am sure by the Heading "Murkiest Sky" you all have got some hints on what I am going to write today . But let me become somewhat socialistic rather than becoming a realistic dogra ;-). This week my parents visited me as now at least they are getting hints that how much is the old saying can be true “A son is a son till he takes him a wife, a daughter is a daughter all of her life” but we with a slight digression in my case as I am already gone away without a wife . Aah thats not the theme of my story . Today we went for a dinner at a nice hotel .They served us nearly 30 different dishes and we tried everything ,But in reality we ate less and wasted more . The moment I clicked the photographs of our half done plates, for few seconds the below videos flash backed in front of my eyes. From that moment , one of my brains thread was in Busy waiting state and was continuously polling for this video. May be this video will look quite normal to you folks .This short film is about the hunger and poverty brought about by Globalization. Listening the oldies , I found some lines of Elton John's "Circle of Life" quite apposite to our current situation.

Here now we are getting paid by MNC like hell and still we are just writing blogs and sending mails but doing nothing in reality in this respect. Those millions of bucks we earn in our lifetime are not because of our hard work or our brilliance but its some kinda of cannibalism which we are spreading in a sophisticated manner.How much we really contribute for the welfare of the poor. All we care is for all donations which will be under Section 80C of our income tax rule so that if we pay one thousand bucks to some NGO,we should get Tax benefits. Why don't we think for section 80C while donating in temples or while thousands of rupees on a movie ticket ?? I am not saying that we should not donate in temples or should not watch movies but we need to find some way with which we can really make some difference for the suppressed class of Society. Making Documentaries or information flow over these social problems is good but how much these are really helping them . In one way or the other , we can even utilize the resources we invest like the finance for the documentary or the Time I am wasting on sending mails or writing blogs or in thinking , for helping the real suppressed class . Its similar like Bal Thakarey saying that Shiv sena wont let Australians play on Maharastra Soil. I will say " What a patriotism MR. Thakarey ..!! " But I have a question for him "Australians are doing attacking on Indians due to foreign nationism but why the F**k Shiv sena or MNS attack on North Indians or Bihari's .. How the Shiv Sena or MNS brazen attacks are different from Australian attacks ??? If Australians do it under the name of Nationalism , then MNS or SHIV sena do it under the name of regionalism .." . We are just Hippocrates .

Like the old adage goes on "Charity begins at home", we need to step up and do something. Otherwise you will become like me and in the words of Albert Einstein ,soon you will be defined like this quote “Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking”.

Look into her eyes and now close your eyes . You will see a contrast of happiness and sadness .

The best part of the video is **When the hungry kids of the Poor man start eating to satisfy his hunger , that man told him to FIRST PRAY GOD and then eat**. How many of us normally do such things ??

Watched a movie "Fracture" of Anthony Hopkins . Not a great movie or a movie to recommend but like some of the quotes of it Like "Even a broken clock is right twice a day" .In the movie , the writer has used some lines of an old poem of Dr Seuss from the book "OH!THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!".This book "OH!THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!" is basically for kids and the book concerns life and its challenges. I dont know if children can understand the real meaning of the poem or I am doing some misinterpretation of the poem . But to me ,it looks quite a dark poem as dark as the above pics .. crawling into my dreams .

Let me highlight the lines which were used in this movie . Read it and interpret them ;-) .. May be I am just goofing up everything because of my "Drifting thoughts" ..Here I am, on the road again, ....There I am, up on the stage ... There I go, playing star again, ....There I go, turn the page

Right now everyone is either busy in either celebrating the coming of New year or dumping the rusted memories of previous year . But I am enjoying a cup of Earl grey tea in one hand and typing with the other ,listening to the an antichrist singer "Marilyn Manson" on my roof top .Under the void sky and the black starless night without my headphones,the only sound I can listen is of chirrups of the insects and cascading of the waves of the cool breeze. Under such a night , these words are echoing in my mind.

Sometimes I feel I've got to

I am not going to give a list of news flashback here as you can get it very easily ,so google that if you want . I see this year as a year of change , not only climatic change but change in the thought process of the people of india . Till last year , Arunachal pradesh was the only state in the country with less than 2% of voting but this year we see sudden decrease in the voter's percentage in other states of India like Maharastra which shows of spreading of a view "Which country and why should I do this and that for the country... what has this country given to me and why do i need to repay it back ".There is not nothing good or bad in it but it just shows change in the ideology of people.One of the major achievement of this year was the coining of the term "Hindoo Terrorism" by some secularist politicians. Other than this,2009 has brought a new concept in Indian society " Live in the Society of Victimization where people are more comfortable being victimized than actually standby for themselves". This year we saw the rise of the regionalism under the guidance of Shri Shri Raj Thakeray ji and Slicing of india ignited by telangana and gorkhaland and Just like Adult Education initiatives, under the leadership of Swami N.D.Tiwary ,a new program 'Adult sex education' for Senior citizens. In this whole process of evolution , I pity Sardar Patel who wasted his time in integrating 565 semi-autonomous princely states and British-era colonial provinces into United India (In Chanakya's term "Uthishta Bharatha"). He could also have enjoyed a royal life of the politicians but woh kehte hai naa hindi mein "Vinaash kaale, viprit buddhi" . He scarified his whole life for integrating India and What we gave him back.. just a tag of "Iron Man of India". And now we should give another tags to our leaders who are fighting for separate states "Melting men of India". Few days back , an advertisement of Amul was published in The Hindu newspaper .

This advertisement explains the condition of India.

Few years back , I listened these lines somewhere :

Now I can understand the real meaning of these lines . From the head to foot , Bharat maa ki bleeding and like Stigmata , i can feel her pain .

This year of 2009 , i see the impact of the Change in the mindset of people in our Bollywood also. As Bollywood trends keep on changing with the the mindsets of the common Indian so now this feeling of resentment among each Indian can be easily seen in our movies. Whether we take an example of " Wednesday " which shows How much a common Indian is fed up by govt policies of feeding the terrorists or "Gulaal" which shows the resentment among several neglected communities of india. Not only this , we have seen some new Anthems coming up .

One of them was in Gulaal where piyush mishra recited the Version 1.0 of सरफरोशी की तमन्ना अब हमारे दिल में है by Ram Prasad Bismil ...

It was a Sports Stadium.

Eight Children were standing on the track to participate in a running event.

* Ready! * Steady! * Bang !!!

With the sound of Toy pistol,

All eight girls started running.

Hardly had they covered ten to fifteen steps,

when one of the smaller girls slipped and fell down,

Due to bruises and pain she started crying.

When the other seven girls heard the little girl cry they stopped running, stood for a while and turned back.

Seeing the girl on the track they all ran to help.

One among them bent down, picked her up and kissed her gently

And enquired as to how she was..

They then lifted the fallen girl pacifying her.

Two of them held her firmly while all seven joined hands together and walked together towards the winning post........ .

There was pin drop silence at the spectator's stand.

Officials were shocked.

Slow claps multiplied to thousands as the spectators stood up in appreciation.

Many eyes were filled with tears

And perhaps even God's!

YES.!! This happened in Hyderabad [INDIA], recently!

The sport was conducted by
National Institute of Mental Health.

All these special girls had come to participate in this event

They were spastic children.

Yes, they were Mentally Challenged.

What did they teach the WORLD.?

Teamwork.?

Humanity.?

Equality among all.??

Successful people help others who are slow in learning

So that they are not left far behind.

"Vi veri veniversum vivus vici" is a Latin phrase meaning: "By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe". That's the theme of the movie "V for Vendetta". Celebrating the Friday Night, I decided to watched this movie which I have already watched several times but still each time I watch it , only one thought comes in my mind 'Ending could have been better'. But still I love it. Its a movie about a shadowy freedom fighter known only as "V" uses terrorist tactics to fight against his totalitarian society.
The movie starts with the lines ,that keep on echoing in my lunatic head, "Remember, remember the 5th of November, the gun powder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gun powder treason should ever be forgot" which ,in reality , points toGuy Fawkes or Guido Fawkes (Wiki Link) ,notorious or famous for his involvement in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. The movie is a plot of rebellion or revolution with the motto of picturizing the brutality of politicians (Politics - In latin Poly means 'Many' and Tics means 'Blood Sucking creatures' ). One of the quote of the movie which puts light on Guy Fawkes life was "We are told to remember the idea, not the man, because a man can fail. you cannot kiss an idea, cannot touch it or hold it. Ideas do not bleed, it cannot feel pain, and it does not love. And it is not an idea that I miss, it is a man. A man who made me remember the fifth of November. A man I will never forget." . These are actually the words of John Milton's Satan in book six of Paradise Lost was inspired by Fawkes.
Also as the movie goes, at one one moment the movie shadows the modern nature of Human i.e. Godlessness with the movie dialogues flowing like this "Godlessness. Let me say that again… Godlessness. It wasn’t the war they started. It wasn’t the plague they created. It was Judgement. No one escapes their past. No one escapes Judgement. You think he’s not up there? You think he’s not watching over this country? " .
Aah , how come I forgot the scene where Evey asked V "who are you?" and V replied "Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.
The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous."
Just thinking who all wants to increase their english vocab , this covers atleast the letter "V" ;-) ;-) ;-).

Now let me watch another movie of this kind "The dark Knight" with one the quote of V forVendetta in my mind "Artists Use Lies To Tell The Truth. Politicians Use Them To Hide The Truth."

The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed with the Sun - By William Blake

I don't know what compounded my confusions and confessions that I got addicted to insomniac nights . Keep on searching for something in the darkness of night, trying to answers of my questions and questions of my answers . As in spanish word for dark is 'OSCURA' simply means "obscure" . So the Dark night means an "Obscure night" i.e it doesn't comprehend clearly what is happening .Lets see it from other dimension . The darkness or obscure nature of night doesnt implies its sinister nature , but it implies that the liberation takes places in hidden ways, beneath our knowlegde abd understanding . God darken our awareness in order to keep us safe .We can't chart our own course ,we become vulnerable to GOD's protection , and the darkness becomes a "guiding night" , a "night more kindly than the dawn". Also as said in V forVendetta ""The darkest hour comes before the dawn."". Aah ..!! I dont know what the hell I keep on writing . I started this mail with a lovely thought and somehow started speaking of la noche oscura . Yesterday night or more specific during the darkest hours of the night, while googling for something , i started reading about "ORANGUTANS : a endangered species of great apes ".

Orangutans : They differ from other species of great apes in several important ways.Though their intelligence and relative lifespan are traits shared by the other great primates, the social behavious and general lifestyle of orangutans are quite different.
The two other groups of great apes : Chimpanzees and Gorillas ,live in mixed social groups . Orangutans ,on the other hand ,live semisolitary existences. That is to say ,Male orangutans live alone most of the time, occupying and defending their territory and the females who live there . Though female residing within the boundaries of one male orangutan's domain belong to him , they dont live with him. Their only intimate contact occurs during weeklongs periods of fertility every few years, between pregnancies. Once a female is pregrant ,she takes care of herself and eventually raises her baby completely alone. Even when several adult females and their babies group around the same fruit tree - a rare but possible event- they don't fight or share as other primate groups world, but instead ignore each other.

Inference I made from this : We normally say "Man is a social Animal". But in the modern world no-one has time to socialize so earlier human beings were kind of decadents from the great apes. We used to have joint families, used to have more than 1000 folks joining the marriage ceremonies and death ceremonies , ladies cooking 100's of chapaties and ten or more kids fighting for a choclate (Melody khao khud jan jao) . These behaviour of human resembles with Gorillas or Chimpanzees . But what about modern man????? Including me typing mails and you reading ;-). We now talk about Live-in relationships and living in nuclear families . Whole concept of human existence has changes in last decade. Now I think the previous generation was a decendant of Gorillas and we , so called "X-Gen" or "Y-Gen" or "NXT-Gen" folks, are decendants from Orangutan . Reading about them in the above passage looks resembles whole and souly with 21st century human with just one modification : Here both male and female have their own territories (Not like in Orangutan ).

I think I bore you guys with my floating thoughts each day , do let me know if you don't wanna be part of my abstruse thoughts. I Woke up early morning with a nightmare of my router crash and blah blah ;-) .Looking at the clear blue sky and the wet earth from my room's window reminded me of Pink floyd's songs "Good bye blue sky "

"Look mummy, there's an aeroplane up in the sky"
Did you see the frightened ones?
Did you hear the falling bombs?
Did you ever wonder why we had to run for shelter
When the promise of a brave new world
Unfurled beneath a clear blue sky?

Such a amazing song with sarcastic and acidulous remark on human progress . The progress which we mark as acme of our civilization, filled with the horror of warfare and terrorism where today we have bigger houses but small families , more degrees but less common sense ,advanced medicines but poor health ,two earning hands but more divorces,touched moon but no contacts with our neighbors , high salaries yet less peace of mind .We are floating over the line.Let us follow our mind .All of our life we'll wait for the answer. and the question is why ?We're just travelers in endless space. If we're following our mind, We can glide into light.
No one knows if there'll be an answer ,While we're morphing through time .
With all these thoughts crawling in my skin and these wounds which will not heal ,Fear is how I fall , Confusing what is real , I started listening songs and to make my life easier I played 5 star rated songs and the top one were of Gulaal.Now as always after listening one of its song "Aarambh hai prachand" , I started googling about a dialogue which was basically a part of a poem by Ram dhari singh dinkar . At last I found the complete poem , loved reading that . Knowing the fact that my hindi is really bad but then i tried to google its words to understand the meaning of it throughly .I was just thinking 'now i regret of not paying much attention on hindi as a language during my early years of learning' but then another thought hit the walls of my brain 'it doesn't matter , now google is god ;-) ;-) ;-) '

This is a song from the movie "Taare zameen par ". This song shows the two faces of the modern world. One kind of human beings are busy in the rat race life , where they follow a strict routines and live a Mechanical life (numb life). Other kind is one who live a void life i.e nothing to lose or nothing to gain, nothing to worry or nothing to sorry. I think the second kind is much better than being followers of rat race . Because in this modern world, the more I attempted to "Be me" the more "me's" i found there were. I really dont need a " reason " to be happy. I neither have to consult the future to know how happy I am now nor I have look back into history pages to compare my happiness . If there is a 'me' that curses and struggles and a 'me' that winks and walks in peace , do I have a choice of selves. We live in a primitive time, don't we, Will? Neither savage nor wise. Half measures of the curse of it, any rational society will either kill us or put us to some use. A robin red-breast in a cage, puts all of Heaven in a rage. Think to yourself that every day is your last. The hour to which you do not look forward will come as a welcome surprise.
