Well, despite an unexpected series of unfortunate events (I missed some great shows, drat!) undermining my presence at my favourite Fashion Week ever (it ain't worth telling about, trust me!), I can definitely state it was fun, very inspirational and full of brilliant ideas and interesting people.

I also had some great time finding out nice and cool places far from fashion affairs.
Hurwundeki, for instance, is one of those: a french café immersed in an industrial/romantic vintage atmosphere, perfect for the everyday breakfast or the afternoon tea, perhaps reading some good old book or magazine.

The photos of this post were taken both with my camera and my smartphone (and of course the quality is not so good), but I hope you like them all the same!

Son of Dave, ovvero quell'irrefrenabile voglia di Blues

Eccomi sbarcata nella capitale inglese per seguire le sfilate e scattare qualche foto di streetstyle.  Dopo un bel viaggetto con tanto di levataccia inclusa nel pacchetto, comincio a preparare smartphone, reflex e agenda per ciò che mi aspetta domani. 

Intanto, presa dalla playlist del mio ipod e dalla quantità spropositata di musica che sto ascoltando in questi giorni di viaggio, vorrei segnalarvi un nome che mi ossessiona da un bel po' di tempo (per dirla tutta, dall'ultima sfilata maschile di Roberto Cavalli) e che ha preso il pieno possesso del mio iTunes player.   

Son of Dave, così si chiama questo bravissimo musicista, è un bluesman canadese che vive a Londra da oltre 10 anni.
Quello che mi ha fatto innamorare di lui è il suo stile molto personale, unito ad una sincera ruvidezza tipica del blues più autentico.

Armato soltanto di voce, armonica, effetti loop e tantissmo ritmo, Son of Dave (per gli intenditori: il suo vero nome è Benjamin Darvill e per oltre 12 anni ha suonato in tour con i mitici Crash Test Dummies) ha all'attivo quattro album, di cui Wild West Show, il primo, rappresenta sicuramente l'esempio più interessante della sua musica: si tratta di una bizzarra rivisitazione delle colonne sonore spaghetti western, contaminata con momenti di follia pura alla David Lynch.
 E poi, alcuni suoi pezzi hanno fatto da colonna sonora a telefilm come True Blood e Breaking Bad (e qui anche il mio lato nerd apprezza), volete mettere?  

Se siete curiosi e avete voglia di ascoltare qualcosa, il suo ultimo singolo Aint Nuthin But The Blues si può tranquillamente scaricare da iTunes, mentre alla fine del post trovate il video della sfilata Cavalli F/W 2012-13 che l'ha visto esibirsi in una strepitosa performance live.

  PS sapete che ci ho preso gusto scrivere di musica? Quasi quasi mi viene voglia di continuare.  Del resto oltre che di moda, sono anche una “malata” di rock, e il nome di questo blog, guarda caso, è il titolo di una canzone che adoro.  Quindi, stay tuned for more!
