Resources and human needs

The entire economic problem start with satisfying human behaviors of needs and want by a limited amount of resources with capable of using for multiple inputs.

A resource can be any good use in the production of other goods. It’s also known as factor of production.

Economists usually divide resources into three types as land, labor and capital.In a broad description,

§ Land includes both land itself and natural resources such as metal oil coal and anything taken from the earth.

§ Labor include not only working hours but also knowledge

§ Capital is material or physical resources used to facilitate production such as building, machine paper and desk.

Then comes the scarcity

In economics a good is scarce if not enough of its available to put to every conceivable use without sacrificing something else.

If any good is available more than any ones needs and wants, or more goods can be consume without sacrificing anything else that good is abundant. As an example air is abundant because we have more than enough air to go around, no one will have to sacrifice anything to obtain air to breath.

The exchange of resources

Anyone can own any resource in any quantity but that doesn’t mean that people can satisfy all their needs and wants by them. So to overcome this problem the multipurpose scare resources are exchange between various inputs and satisfying overall needs and wants.

The method of exchanging resources have come to this day by passing simple self sufficient household system and exchanging of goods between specialized household purchasers. And later with the use of an exchange medium, resources are exchange more easily within the units. This made the path to use money as an exchange medium. This the main method which uses up to this day.

As example middle-eastern countries has a problem of finding skilled labor. This is solving by imported unemployed labor from other south Asian countries.

In the other hand some of the south Asian countries imports crude oil from middle-eastern countries

In this example we can clearly identify that both countries has satisfy their needs and wants (one with labor and other with land) by the method of exchanging.

In both cases money has being used has the medium of exchange.

For selling labor south Asian countries get paid by wages and where as for selling oil middle-eastern countries get money payments. Both countries get an income.

Income and the purchasing power

An income becomes an expense to satisfy human needs. in a world of exchanging everything with a medium; everything is determined by a price.

High income owner can consume luxury items or even can porches larger amounts of goods and services to satisfy their needs.

Each household has at any moment in time limited buying power. Most of us are able to buy a small fraction of goods and services we would like to enjoy.

How these determine made?

How does the household decide any product available will be bought?

The basic assumption of economic theory is that each household will tend to allocate its expenditure among goods and services available to it in such way to maximize the satisfaction derivable from its limited budget. Households will buy the combination of products that provides with highest possible level of satisfaction if it had more money to spend it could enjoy even greater satisfaction by within limited buying power.

Production at lowest possible cost

In the first place firms should be producing its output at the lowest possible cost to the society, given the available technology. That is each product should be produce at the lowest possible sacrifice of the other products, or as economist often phrases it, the lowest possible opportunity cost .if such not the case society is not maximizing its satisfactions.

Need to analyse the environment?

Environment is the place where the business exists. The manufacturing, Sale, Marketing, Accounting, even the natural behaviours exists in the environment. If any business wants to starts in any form of a place needs to understand the outside world that it surrounds. This is important not only to start a business but also to run the existing businesses.

Think of an investor who plans to invest in a foreign country. He may have experience in investing but he may new to the country and its environment. His goal will to gain maximum profits out of what he invests. The investor will analyse the political situation of the country then he will look into the legal factors, financial factors and the attitude of the people of the country. This helps him to a picture of the place where he invests the money. This better understanding helps him to face opportunities and well as keep ready to the future facts that he has to face. This same story applies to the existing organisations.

Ethic is the right behaviour of life. Ethics can apply to any minute any second of the day.

If we take one day as a unit, how many different ways do we behave ethically? On other hand ethic is the way of living peacefully to the rest of the world.

Whatever we do we must think of the ethical behaviour of what we do. Sometime the things that we do cannot be a legal issue for the society but it may give harm to a group of people or a single person in an indirect way. It can give a reaction in many years back.

The goals that we achieve have to be ethically created by ourselves. More we plan ethically and do it ethically gives us more value the goal that we achieve.

Remarkable plan “B”

Always think of a plan “B” to succeed your goal. Whatever you do there should be a plan “B” to protect yourself from failure. Think of a place that you decide to visit. You can decide the destination; decide the way to reach the destination and the medium of the travel. For example if you want to meet your girl friend at the park in the evening. You may decide to go by bus. But once you come to the road you realise there are no buses in the road because of a general strike. What will you do next to reach your destination \ goal to meet the girl friend? Will you forget about the girl friend and return home? Will you break her heart? Probably not, if you are honest. You will reach the park either by a taxi or even by walking. In this case plan “B” was the key drive to the goal. Plan “B” saves you to reach the point of your choice.

But in some cases plan “B” can help you to reach not to the dream goal but to a point where you can feel happy. A student had a dream of becoming a doctor to treat ill people. Here his goal in wider meaning or else the mission was to treat ill people. This was followed by a target of becoming a doctor. But his exam results were not enough for medical school. But his plan “B” was to train as a nurse. Either he wasn’t a doctor this still made him to treat ill people.

A millionaire businessman was asked to explain his secret of success. He replied it is non- other than the plan “B”. Whenever he fails to reach the goal of success he was pushed by the plan “B” to the top.

Plan B can help us to reach the target at least by 99% of times. Create a target make a plan but always follow it with a plan B.

A poor run-away village boy came to a city in search of a job. He got a work in a restaurant has a dish washer. He hardly collect his money and start a book selling business on a road side. Business increases and later he became a millioner. How many times you have heard stories similar to this? I have heard so many stories of people who became successful after they left there own home.

I think the success theory comes with the environment They get success once they change the environment they used to live. The environment they used to live earlier may be dominated by negative thinking people who dose not live with a life goal. But once they leave the environment they achieve there destinations naturally. Change the enviornment you use to live at least avoid the people with negative thoughts and widen your mind.

In everything in this world has a story behind. From what we eat what to what we drink there can be a story witch can give an ultimate idea of what we can get for our future. How many of you thought of the birth story of potato chips? How many of you know that potato chips came to be an invention of a mistake? This story goes to the summer of 1853. George Crum a native American was employed as a chef for a resort in New York. A stupid guest complaint that the French fries are too thick and rejected the order. Crum decide to surve the customer with a frie thin crisp by skewer with a fork. Crums main idea was to rile the guess. But surprisingly guess ecstatic for the new taste he get to know and order another dish. All the other diners request for Crum's potato chips.

Seven years later in 1860 George Crum opened his own restaurant. basket of potato chips were placed on every table of the restaurant. Potato chips became so popular. Many more potato chip restaurants opened all over America during the following years.

Till very recently he was the second richest man in the world. first i heard of him by a chain mail.It says he is the second richest person to Bill Gates.I was amazed what it said about his life. Normally we know milliners spent money like millions for there cribs, vehicles, vacation security or nothing but to show off there money. But Warren Buffett still lives in the old house witch he bought in 1957 and driving an old car.He doesn't even have regular meetings with his business executives.

Now he is the 3rd richest after the arrival of Slim Carlos. Born to howard Buffett and leila Buffett in On August 30th 1930. In 1956 at the age of 26 he formed his first investment partnership, with $105,000. This amount include $1000 his own. all others were from family and friends in Omaha. On the cover page of August 6th U.S News magazine it says if you invest $1000 with warren Buffett in 1956, you'd have $27 million today. Talking about Buffett its a must to talk about his heavy donations. He donate $37bn (£20bn) to Bill Gates' charitable foundation.Mr Buffett said "There's never really been any other plan in terms of where the money should go."

The theory witch iam going to explain can be applied for anything you need to achieve (for your personal life & as well as for the career life). Make a clear GOAL that you wish to achieve. The GOAL can be far away from your present status. But make a big, realistic unthinkable GOAL!!! Simply THINK BIG!!

At present you might earn 1000 bucks a month, you might live in a two bed room apartment and you might also may using an old dirty car. OK forget about it. Open your mind to your own dreams. I repeat THINK BIG!!

DON'T EVER ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS IN AN UNLAWFUL MANNER!!!
This is the number one rule that i suggest for you. Sometimes it might be hard to achieve in a correct way but it gives you a peace full concrete structure for your future so make it clear not to attain in any unlawful act.

Follow these steps
$First dream what you want to get,Dream about the house you want to live,the car witch you want to drive, the income you want to get and the place you want to visit during the summer vacation....etc.

$Buy a blank book and write them on it.

$Search for information witch is usefull for your GOALS. As an example Collect pictures of your dream car, Read about Luxury Houses, watch TV programs Witch shows programs about celebrities who spent there money like nothing,Search on the internet,Read business biographies.....etc.
paste the pictures of your dream car or house on the blank book. these pictures can be easily found through magazines and news papers. The main reason for doing this is that VISUALS can make a great inpact to your mind.

$Live on your DREAMS!! if you want to be a millioner then act like a millioner (walk like a millioner,talk like a milloner)
observe other people who has achieved your GOALS. If they feel free make some advises or talk with them. This can help you alot

$Good GOAL needs to have a time period. Decide a reasonable time like 10 years or 15 years. Devide your time into segmenand achieve them. Think of a single day. Reach the goal of that day.

Most business people get bankrupt with there loans because of mismanaging loans. If you take a loan first thing you must remember is to spend that amount only for the business purpose. You will end up in a great trouble if you spent those for your personal use.

For example you have to return each dollar you have lent. Therefore it is a must to spend them on a return investment. Then what about student loans? Well student loans are not only for a consumer purpose. Having an education is a long term investment for your life. People plans for there future goals, making dreams, spent there precious time to achieve there goals but I was just wondering what will happen if an unthinkable happened. Who can predict the future? Will your future satisfy about your personal health? Will the market changes will better for the future? Who knows? Future has a hidden risk. Michael dell was born on the 23rd of February 1965. He comes from a Jewish family in Houston Texas. His father was an orthodontist while mother was a money manager. Story goes that when he was 15 he first pull out and reassembled an apple computer. After his high school education he joined to university of Texas with a dream of becoming a doctor. But it was not the perfect choice for him. Sooner at the age of 19 (in 1984) he started his own business to manufacture computers by using computer stock parts at his university dorm room. This was only finance by thousand dollars of his pocket money. Earlier, the company was called PC’c Limited and later became Dell.

What is an organization?
According to Gary Jhones an organization are social inventions for accomplishing goals through group effort. In a common definition this can –take as a group of people working to obtain a certain goal or Group of people working interdependently toward some purpose. Organizations are not just buildings or other physical structures. There for organization can be from a schools, colleges, universities, military…..

Business organization is a gathering of people in order to achieve profits as the common goal. Business organization can be seen in various types and sizes. A business organization can be from a home base small private company with few employees to multi million dollar organizations with thousands of employees.

According to Steven Jobs the CEO of apple computers, a company (business organization) is one of humanities amazing inventions.

The Organizational environment
Organizational environment refers to the forces that can make an impact. Forces made up opportunities and threats. Organizations dose not exist in isolation. It works with the overall environment.
Scholars have divided these environmental factors into two main parts as,
v Internal Environment
v External Environment

Internal Environment
Organizations internal environment refers to the elements within the organization. Internally, an organization can be viewed as a resource conversion machine that takes inputs (labor, money, materials and equipment) from the external environment (i.e., the outside world), converts them into useful products, goods, and services, and makes them available to customers as outputs.
v Current employees
v Management
v Trade unions
v Share holders

Current employees- this refers to the number of employees that and firm has. Employees or the working people are the main resources of an organization. In other hand these employees can make a big difference for an organization. If an organization has unskilled labors they may find a difficulty of getting things done. Organization benefited with skilled labor. It requires motivation and skills development to take the maximum performance of the labor.

Management- A manager is someone skilled in knowing how to analyze and improve the ability of an organization to survive and grow in a complex and changing world. This means that managers have a set of tools that enable them to grasp the complexity of the organization's environment. A management system describes the organization and the set of significant interacting institutions and forces in the organization's complex and rapidly changing environment that affect its ability to serve its customers. The firm must continuously monitor and adapt to the environment if it is to survive and prosper. Disturbances in the environment may spell profound threats or new opportunities for the firm. The successful firm will identify, appraise, and respond to the various opportunities and threats in its environment.

Trade unions- A trade union or labor union is "a continuous association of wage-earners for the purpose of maintaining or improving the conditions of their employment."
Unions can make an impact to the organization. They can demand for there rights. Some Organizations face huge problems because of white color trade unions.

Share holders-they are the owners of an organization. A shareholder or stockholder is an individual or company (including a corporation) that legally owns one or more shares of stock in a joint stock company. A company's shareholders collectively own that companyThey invests there recourses to an organization in order to obtain a profit.

External Environment
It consists of all the outside institutions and forces that have an actual or potential interest or impact on the organization's ability to achieve its objectives:
v Competitive
v Technological
v Political
v Legal

Competitive-these are the other organizations witch operate in the same field. They share the same customer group of the organizations. They can make an effect on the organization. There price, quality, distribution and other factors affect the overall organizational goals.

Technological- is a broad concept. After the industrial revolution technology became an important factor for organizations. Technology brought the effectiveness to the industries. In modern technology is used also for management to bring the better organizational environment.

Political-can make the worst or the best effect to an organization. The political situations or the system of a country can make the organizations future. Better policies make a good business environment for any organization.

Legal-every organization and there resources, including the employees have to act under the legal factor. No one can go beyond the law of a country. Witch ever an organization dose they have to scope with the legal factors.

Oprah Winfrey the world first black woman billionaire

Oprah Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954 to an unmarried baptist family. Her mother Vernita lee was a housemaid. At the time of her birth her father Vernon Winfrey was in the Armed Forces. While moved from a coal miner to a barber he later became a city councilman.

For first six years of her life she spent with her grandmother Hattie Mae. Thanks to her grandmother, she was able to read before the age of three. This was the beginning of her broadcasting career where she learning to read aloud and perform recitations.

She ran away from home and ran the streets. Then her mother sent her to Nashville Tennesee to live with her father. She has done her majors in Speech Communications and Performing Arts by the State University of Tennessee.

After became co-host of WJZ-TV's "People Are talking in 1976, she discovered her talent for hosting talk shows. She came to Chicago to host WLS-TV's "AM Chicago," it was a low-rated half-hour morning talk-show. But by her talent of hosting she bought it to the highest rated talk show in Chicago. Later it was renamed Oprah Winfrey Show.

Though she spent her childhood in a rural poverty, where her mother raised her by welfare in the ghetto, because of her talent for present and after her talk show went national, at the age of 32 Oprah Winfrey became a millionaire.

After her net worth reached $340 million, she over took the position of Bill Cosby and became the only African American on the Forbes 400.

She is the richest African American of the 20th century where she was also the world's only black billionaire in 2004, 2005, and 2006. By September, 2006 her worth was over $1.5 billion according to Forbes magazine. Not only that she the world first black woman billionaire.

The Time magazine named her as one of the 100 Most Influential People of the 20th Century.

According to united nations women’s year conference in 1975,they stated that 65% of the worlds working force is done by women. But they own 1% of property while earns only 10 % of the income.

In many developing countries, women raise there family by doing hard jobs while there men spent money for alcohol.

As mother’s women know how to manage there income at least to fulfill basic needs. Over the year’s government and non government organizations have come up with various projects to developed entrepreneurship among the women. Many organizations have learned that repayments for women loans are staggeringly high.

Most people don’t have a clear picture of their life targets. They don’t even have measure there talents, the ability to start work or continue with it. Perfect life programmers spent there lives in luxury. No one plan to be fail but there plans becomes failures.

Future is the result of the present. We in our self can become creators of the future. In order to obtain goals plan your selves in present.

Make plans for your self
Achieve long term as well as short term goals. Weather it is long term or short term goal, it has to be a unique plan for your self.

Decide the ending day for your goal
First step is to decide the ending day for your goal. In any project there will be a completing day. Purpose of the ending day is to remind your self to work effectively to achieve the goal.

Divide the long term goals/targets
Can you walk for 1000km? At instance you might think it is impossible. But it’s easy to walk 10km per day? Within 100 days you can complete your journey.
This is the story behind dividing your long term impossible into short term reachable sub units.

Observe your goals
Frequently observe weather you are reaching on the correct track at correct time.

Make a network of people
Being isolation is impossible. Make a network of people, take there help for your journey. Discuss with your friends & family….

Question your self
Question your self, what are the things that I should do to fulfill my targets?
What are the things that I shouldn’t do to fulfill my targets?

Tribute to Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

On 15th of October 1931 Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born to a middle class family in Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu. His father rented his owned boats out to local fishermen. APJ Abdul Kalam started his career as a newspaper vendor to support his studies. He studied at Schwartz High School in Ramanathapuram. During 1954-57 he complete DMIT in Aeronautical Engineering at the MIT after graduating in science from St. Joseph's College in Tiruchi.

Science, according to Kalam, is a global phenomenon. He feels there are a few areas where India can develop its core competence. These areas are software engineering, computer products and design, agriculture and food, aviation, defence research and space technology and chemical engineering. "This will lead to a highly beneficial economic and social progress for the nation."
In 25th November 1999, Dr. Abdul Kalam became the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and accorded the rank of a Cabinet Minister.
On July 25, 2002 Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam reached the peak of his life as becoming the 11th President of India witch he served till July 25, 2007

According to Fortune magazine the 67-year-old son of Lebanese immigrant Mexican telecom billionaire Carlos Slim has overtaken Microsoft founder Bill Gates as the world's wealthiest man. As the owner of the Latin America's largest cell phone company, America Movil he owns a wealth of almost $60 billion.

Mr Slim's wealth has increased after the recent 27% surge in the share price of his largest company, America Movil. He has a 33% stake in the firm.
